I was on the NASA site and took the picture off my computer monitor with my digital camera. Not sure what Craig is implying. It is a live shot of their live feed. I think it is pretty good, cents, since, sense I did not have to travel to Dubai, or Greece. Just thought you guys might like to see what it looked like. So be it, if you don't like it.

Rent a U-haul truck & trailer. Horses in the truck, vehicles on the trailer. A few less round trips.

Muffler installed, and she seems mechanically functional. Voltmeter and Tach don’t work, don’t know if that’s a sign of something bad. I was surprised how different and loud the Onan 20 was. My 416-8 has a gentlemanly rumble, almost a diesel sound. THe 520 is LOUD and angrier. Here is the herd. They had the Craftsman surrounded.. gonna take his lunch money....

Had about an hour or so after mowing the yard this afternoon, so I decided to mess with the bull gear and worn axle key hole. Welded them up best I could. Welding cast is not my thing. The axle was easier. I've still got to clean up the gear a little with my dremmel. Think it will be ok?

You just leave the 66 where it sits and I will come get it! I doubt its worth moving! On a more serious note, I work at a large car dealer and I promise you, you won't come out on the better end trading 2 vehicles in. Randy

Out of the past month I’ve owned this tractor I have been VERY impressed with the power it has considering it’s size and small 8hp engine. Today I was even more impressed when I moved this trailer loaded with 2 mowers each weighing around 500lbs each plus the trailer weight. Overall I would guess the loaded trailer weights around 1700-1800lbs. Even in 3rd gear it pulled this trailer uphill without trouble, it even stopped it without to much trouble. This is same tractor that I made a thread about around a month ago that I got for $100, even after the upgrades and a few accessories i just picked up last week (a snow blower, deck, and rear grader blade) im still only into it about $500. I would like like to thank everyone who has helped me along with this, from electrical issues to putting in a different trans you guys have had an answer for everything!

Seat belts are a must so the passengers who don't share my death wish can't escape. The unpainted angle irons will make the engine plate level and also allow it to slide so I can tighten the chain. This back frame is bolted upside down to the front frame so the flat side is on the bottom. I also tied the bottom of the plates together after I found the axle a little high on one side. Now level I made the axle equal length on each side and measured to the front center of the frame and found it to be true. I prefer studs over lug nuts. I just have to grind a bevel on one side of the nuts. I think the engine will be bolted over the one angle iron but the offset shouldn't be noticeable.

Any guesses...as I will update with a seperate thread...only other hint is I did post a picture of this find a few months ago, Jeff.

Mowed the yard for the first time with my new to me 42" deck. Had to put in 2 spindle bearings and sharpen the blades. Absolutely no rust holes on the deck, just a little surface rust. Mows excellent - much better than the 37" deck that came on it. Next up is a set of 8" front wheels - just need to paint them.

Yep, the house is under construction... but gardening must go on! The first round of pickin’ was eaten by the girls, or given away. Last night we all worked on slicing, stuffing, brining, and waiting for the best magic including cucumbers and vinegar in the world (those two ingredients in raw form disgust me). Ended up with 19 1/2 quarts last night and we haven’t even started the spicy pickles yet.

Rental Do you want the DMV hassle of registering a new purchase then hoping it will it survive several round trips. Moving is hassle enough (28 yrs with Uncle I had some experience with that). When I retired we filled the Moving Van with more than the allowed 23,000 pounds . Made one trip with my Sonoma towing a Small Uhaul trailer. then another with a U haul truck towing a car carrier with my M-37 on board. My next move is to the old age home....

I understand. The grill looks like it was made for something else or fabricated at the last minute. I think they have that Tim the tool man thing going. Some years back my younger brother put a Honda motorcycle engine on an old 60s Wheelhorse. One day he chained it up to a stump and when he cranked it up it just stood up on the back wheels and hopped like a dog on two feet. He ran it in a few shows and then sold it.

Rental trucks and trailers are the way to go. If it breaks down they will bring you a replacement. If you buy a truck you will have to lay out a bunch of money to title, register and insure it. That will probably be more than the cost to rent a large truck and trailer and none of it is recoverable when you would sell the truck.

Picked this 40 mid mount up today! Found it listed on Craigslist pretty close by and it was listed for 1/3 of the normal asking price. So i jumped on it.

I started repowering my Charger 9 with a 10hp Kohler. Wiring/cables yet to be hooked up, but making progress.

Slightly split a Charger 12 to replace the two seals behind the motion control. Went really well this time. I can live with seeps and small drips but this was more than needed to stop rust on her underside....none of my tractors/mil vehicles will ever rust out from the bottom....

@dells68 Remember that if you are changing from 6 " wheels to 8" you need to change the axles to 8 " or the front end will set up higher. 6 " axles ( spindles ) are longer than axles (spindles) for 8 " tires.

Must’ve been the time to test out “new to me” 42” SD decks! Caleb’s uncle Roger gave him one for JackRabbit that too had a couple of rough bearings. However, the shell and the rest of it was in really good shape. It was so cool to see Caleb cutting on his very own tractor. He was really enjoying it although he looks mad in the pic—probably concentrating! Then it was time to head up to Symco for the thresheree. We took GhostRider and Comanche... I love doing stuff like this with the whole tribe! The boys got into some trouble while in the “old town” and the Marshal threw them in the clink! Took this pic just as we were loading up. We hooked Dad’s old Bolens plow on the back that he used to plow our garden with attached to the 875 when I was a kid! A fun Wheel Horse day overall!

You might be on to something right there This tractor is one fun small machine. Very agile, nice tight turns, sips gas with a very capable 8hp kohler engine. As far as pushing or blowing snow, no problem at all, as far as I'm concerned. I prefer it over the larger tractors I have. And I have a long driveway. I don't mow with a , I have a zero turn for that I'd almost swear any owner of a 68 Commando 8 would say, that they are a great little tractor

Finished new lights in the adjacent room, so I can keep moving on with Sheetrock... errr. Start with Sheetrock. Mrs. Pullstart needs to tie her knots in the ropes, then we’ll finish installing bulbs.

Jack, here are some pics of my 1277 with a johnson 10 loader. Its important to attach your loader to front, mid and rear points of your tractor. If you only connect to front and mid, your loader can twist the frame because the counter weight on the rear will try to hold the rear down and sometimes your loader will twist left or right depending on what you doing. My loader was added by the PO and really did not do that great of job. I added to the subframe to go around the rear end, but there are lots of way to do things different from how I do it. Just thought I would give you some ideas. First pic is my son in action.

I used the one i had alot. But I wanted another one since i got rid of the last one. For use at our campsite. Cause its all stone and dirt. But it all can be leveled off very nicely with one of these blades. And it's another reason to play with the tractors of course!

Yeah - those hurt, not always at first, but sooner or later you'll regret that one. Interesting how you yanked on it hard enough to drive it through the flesh that easily, but the chiseled end from cutting pliers probably helped. I've been yelled at by our old doc more than once for driving something into bone that was tough for him to remove - you got lucky to have missed it, that's about as close as you could get. When I was first learning to tig weld I spent a lot of time also grinding tungsten - pretty easy to dip it into the puddle from the habit of using stick electrodes for so many years. Anyhow, my 17 series torch came with slotted collets - the type that clamps down when tightened inside the head, but those slots over time get twisted and distorted from the heat - then the tungsten gets stuck in the collet. I'd usually remove them with a pair of pliers, but got tired of reaching for those so I just held it in my hand and bashed it onto the vice. Punched a nice and hot thoriated tungsten through my right hand between the thumb and index finger, no real pain and immediately pulled it right back out. Figured since the stuff is slightly radioactive, probably should wash out the hole with Peroxide - wow, now that will get your attention. Think I peed a little, but it never got infected and the scars are almost invisible now - lesson learned. Glad it was only a 3/32" size tungsten, the larger 1/8" or greater would have done some real damage. Sarge

Still has the ID plate / sticker , can’t quite make out the number yet , also still has the exhust guard , bonus . it looks like it may have had a bit of a repaint at some point in its life due to the paint residue on the ID sticker but not 100% sure , sadly the wheels and seat were painted green , but I’m not complaining .

Hate to answer for Aldon but I think that is what he used. I made my muffler(although not super quiet) modeled after the 418-a. Same length and diameter. Just no packing in it.

Is the housing of your ignition switch grounded? Check resistance form the switch housing to the battery - terminal should be near 0.00. If the switch housing is not grounded then the M terminal will not be gounded out in the off position.

Welcome to Redsqure If it's been sitting for a long time the fuel system probably needs a good cleaning. When the carburetor sits with gas in it the gas will gum up the jets. You may have to pull the carb and soak it to get all the junk out.

Never ran into this. I would think if you back off the nuts on the bolts that hold them on and drive it around on some rough ground they would come off.
