11 pointsI started my second full custom a day after the Big Show. My first was a supersized Suburban built right here under " V drive pulley for Predator" After laying out everything I brought home, I bolted two frames together. I then added a Commando hood, wheels and Lawn Ranger seat pan. The stretched horse was blah so I flipped one frame and was inspired with the Z frame look. I added a round hood and other parts and came up with my 2 seat concept Not apparent in the photo is the long section of frame behind the rear wheels. Here I will mount a 420cc Predator and connect a live axle with a go kart clutch. No transmission and no reverse. I believe this setup will be more like a "dune buggy/rail" or go kart impersonating a tractor and should be a wild ride.

6 pointsOther than a little more scraping on the engine block we are done removing old paint. WOO-HOO !!! Ordered a full sticker set from @Vinylguy and some more parts from @A-Z Tractor. We both spent some time today scraping and wire brushing and then Trina did a little bit of priming and painting. We ended the work session by bolting a couple things together!

6 pointsThank you Prondzy I tried to make them as good as original and with Quility material's. I'm glad I can make them to last as long as the old seats. There's no better advertising then a satisfied customer.

5 pointsIt is best to have one solid 1/2" rod (not threaded) thru both springs. The spring ends must be free to rotate when the blade trips. You can buy the two factory rods from TORO for $60+ or buy a 36" length of 1/2" rod from TSC for $6 and make two rods.

4 pointsAll of the credit goes to Bob, I wanted to have new seats made and when I saw his Lawn Ranger etc. seat covers I sent him the skins from an original 953 set and he did his magic. I'm glad so many people need them and appreciate his work.

4 pointsThanks @wallfish! That's what I was hoping. The date is even stamped upside down from later date codes (read this one from the back of the tractor) - only way I'm sure of that is the 2. It had a seat with holes that was really rough and welded on when I got it, so I swapped the seat from a suburban I bought and sold at the show. I worked a little while today adding just a little red to the hood and sanding 80% of it off to make it stand out and hide discoloration from welding the strap back in. It looks like more red than it is and is also before I wiped it down with lacquer thinner. I also got a belt guard pressed and tacked up since that's the piece I was missing. Thanks to @stevebo For letting me get the dimensions of his original. The hole for the crankshaft is a little larger as that was the smallest hole saw I had. Going shopping with the wife and going to get some fireworks.

3 pointsNot on this one but if I could build a new one with the K532 20hp sitting in my shed, probably! Just lifting it back up if it falls could cause that condition. That engine is HEAVY.

3 pointsDid I really need this tractor? No. However, when I first saw it on Let go I thought it was worth going to look at. I knew there was dent around headlight, but didn't know the hours. I went to look at it this morning with a buddy. I offered $1300, settled on $1400. I got extra set of wheels with ok abs and a used pto/clutch.

3 pointsYeahbut.... for only a couple hundred more you could've got a brand new Murrey at wallyworld.....----- NOT!!

3 pointsI break the bead first using the purple slide hammer or the big gray bead breaker. Then the HF small machine for front wheels and their regular size one for back wheels. have had both of them for years. Bent them a bit before I got serious bead breakers. 18 WHs 3 Tractors and two mil vehicles I have had tires of all ages. Have never gone to tire place...

3 pointsWell he did say it's a 2 seater..... Put the second seat (or a third) out front for ballast. Talk about a "wild ride". I'm looking forward to seeing this build.

3 pointsThere used to be an Old Country Buffet next to my closest HF but they closed. Now if I go to HF we have to go across the street to Olive Garden. I do have the mini changer. If I have shot tires that I'm junking I'll use it but if they are really stuck I give up. No sense getting all worn out over a few bucks.

3 pointsHere you go John ! Worth every minute of fun and wash up ! Your Wheel Horse bike is the thrill of a lifetime ride John!

3 pointsI can tear up a Mcdonalds chicken biscuit. Bojangles has THE chicken biscuit though. Had a Hardees chicken biscuit on the way up and it may as well been a nugget biscuit. Thing was tiny. I remember getting them at the local hardees and it was all you could do to eat all of it. Ah the good ole days.

3 pointsThe easiest way is to go to Harbor Freight where you can buy a small tire changer for under $40. There is a learning curve to using it but once you have it mastered, there is no better way. Indispensable if you have horses. If you do not want to spend the $40, make a semi circle out of wood to match the tire rim diameter. Put it onto the tire and then drive over the wood with your car. That will break the bead. You still need to get the old tire off and you will need tire spoons for that. My advise, spend the $40

2 pointsLooking good. The paint you are using for high heat is good stuff as long as you follow the directions for heating it up. I have it on three stacks and for about 3 years now and so far good.

2 pointsThank you. The finished product is the one on the metal Suburban signs Terry sells. I'm curious what the others say about the foot rests. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if both are correct. I picked yo a pair of the cast 61 foot rests at the big show and will get them installed as soon as I get the broken bolt out of one of them and some paint splashed on. Those diamond plate rests now belong to @WHX20
-
2 pointsYou can also take out one of the bolts that hold the rear lift cable tube on. They are on top of the trans and the holes go thru right to the sump. Taking out a bolt lets the air out of the sump with out the mess of a loose filter.

2 pointsI would like to thank 953 Nut and Cee 245 for getting back to me on the 520 hydro issue. it was very helpfull. ThanksI

2 pointsThanks to another very generous Redsquare member... Trina's tractor now has a "new" pair of axles. So Tonight I changed out the axles in the differential and assembled the transmission.
