19 pointsSo I have a leg injury that’s keeping me outa work for a few days and out of a tractor seat . Had to get my son to get one of my tractors into mowing mode yesterday and today my 76 year old father is mowing my yard while I watch. He tags along to the WH Show with me but has no interest, just love going on “adventures”. His mower at home is a JD STX38, one of the littlest ride ons JD makes. This is his first time ever driving one of my Wheel Horses.

8 pointsSo wifey said to prepare some ground for veggies and what not. I am amazed how well that 50" D series tiller makes short work out of it. It comes out level and perfect. When sitting there with gear reduced steering and hydraulic 3 pt. I found my self wondering why I ever had another horse than this one. It is such a beast, and I just love that throaty twin Kohler popping growl, when the tiller gets engaged. Sweeeeeet!

7 pointsI dunno ....650 for the pair wadda you guys think? 1077 has got a nice plow blade and aside from missing cig lighter1277 its in realy nice original (i use that word tightly as as I know how Tom feels about original!) condition. Both have original hydro fans AND fan guards! Both have some PO cobbles that can easily be reversed. I need another 1077 like a (another) hole in the head but still ... I got a itch that needs scratching.....Pardon my addiction but both run sweeter than molassses......more when they are in the mirror!

6 pointsI've spent most of my life working or living in the woods or fields, whether doing general army stuff, hunting or living in the country. Until last week, I'd never thought twice about tick besides to spray myself and check when I came back. Last Tuesday, I found a tick on my upper calf that I didn't think could have been there long. Removed him properly and went on with life. By last Friday, my entire calf looked like I was beat within an inch of my life. That was also the last day I could keep food down. All weekend (I was at my house out of state that we're selling, so almost no furniture) I spent curled up on a couple blankets in front of a fan or turning it off and on depending on what kind of sweat I was having. Yesterday, I felt well enough to drive back home and kept chugging Gatorade and even Pedialyte to keep me going. This morning, I was waiting at the door of the VA clinic when they opened. Doc listened to what I said, looked at my leg and let out an exclamation I shouldn't type here (he's a vet, too. So, he uses army talk with me). I had blood drawn, a B12 shot and a bag of saline right there. I'm now on an antibiotic and I'm supposed to take the max of Tylenol and aspirin allowed for the next week. So, this is my warning to everyone else that if you have a rash, flu symptoms including dizziness. Get yourself checked out! Mine didn't look like the "bullseye" that is usually associated with Lyme disease. For the "too long, didn't read" crowd, I have two things to tell you. 1. When in doubt, go to the doggone doctor!! 2. The VA has really started taking care of folks. I only waited 45 minutes without an appointment to be seen in an overworked clinic where everyone was knowledgeable. Picture from today. On Friday, the whole lower leg was purple. I've never had anything close to that, even after a wreck or when I broke my back. I hope this helps someone.

5 pointsI had to watch last year when the VA gave me an epidural injection and I wasn't allowed to even sit down in a car. My wife actually enjoys push mowing for some reason. She's a weirdo, though.

4 pointsWhat do you do after you spend a few months getting a tractor back into shape? You put it to work!! Today was the day to get it's new coveralls dirty!! @PeacemakerJack found some land that needed to be turned & I was more than willing to help. Of course it didn't happen with out pictures. I'm quite happy with the performance of this machine. The soil conditions were not terrible but the very damp clay was not the easiest to pull the plow through. It sure made the exhaust bark a little. Josh was nice enough to get some video while I settled the Raider into it's new life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPKnAJe3axo Josh took a few rounds with my Raider. He thought that it preformed very well also. Two proud 's showing off their work. Had a great time hangin' with Josh & giving my newly restored it's first work out.

4 pointsHappy Sunday Evening all! So... I listed a pair of new trailer axles on ebay. Sold them to a guy literally one mile away. He comes and picks them up when I wasnt there (I gave him permission). A couple days later he asks if I have any mowing decks for sale because he noticed all the Wheel Horse stuff... I say yep... what do you need. He says I need a deck to fit this and sends pic. I go OMG and ask if he would sell... he says well im a Simplicity / Cub guy and I need a mower for the wife. Again long story short... he wants a hydro and today I rigged up a 1985 312a with a decent deck and made swap. Im in heaven... check this bad boy 1978 C161 Briggs powered beast! It has some very unique and cool features with the fiberglass blackhood / first generation C dash tower setup. It runs as filthy as it is... ill try like heck to get it to the show but no promises. 3 pointsSorry about that here’s the correct one for charger/electro https://www.wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/hydraulics.html#!/Control-valve-seals-7788-for-HY-6/p/84960117/category=23548048 . Give Lowell a call. Any good farm/ag dealership that’s worth a darn (good luck nowadays) should be able to fix yup . My family’s dealership carries a full line of o-rings , packings , hydraulic hoses and fittings. It’s just finding that person that’s willing to help .

3 pointsI have a fan for it but just haven’t put it back on yet. I do have a seven bladed fan off if the jd the steering came off of that I am trying to get to fit. Working on it. Also the gear set in the transmission is whatever was in it when I got it. I won’t be working it hard if at all. Strictly for me to enjoy. I do appreciate all the thoughts and insight. Keeps me thinking. Thanks Brandon

2 pointsI was bit back in the 60s when no one knew these little blood suckers carried these diseases. I had the perfect red bulls eye ring, but thought it was just a rash from the tick bite. In six months I was suffering from severe migraine headaches, face numbness, depression, joint pain and a stiff painful neck. Years later in the 70s when the group of kids in Lyme Connecticut suffered these same symptoms, their mothers made the common link to a tick bite. But it was later in the 80s while studying Rocky Mt Spotted fever scientist Willy Burgdorfer found the tick also carried the bacterium that causes Lyme disease. After blood tests were developed in the 90s, I was tested for 5 years with 3 positives and 2 negatives. I was one of the lucky ones that survived without the help of early treatment. I really believe I have developed my own immunity as I have probably removed 20 ticks since and have not had another bulls eye ring. Anyway, thank you Posi for the reminder to get early treatment. These little buggers can be more deadly than a rattlesnake.

2 points76 year YOUNG! I know the feeling, had to sit on the porch and watch a friend mow mine a couple of times after spinal surgery. Hope you heal up quickly.

2 pointsI think the first link above is only for the cylinder it self not the control valve. What model tractor do we have here...Charger/Electro??? Is the valve itself leaking or is it one of the hose ends either the fiting itself or where it enters the valve. The hose ends are SAE #5 ORB are hard to find. Lowell has replacement hoses. It may just be the O ring on the end of the hose fitting they are available. they are Dash #905 The victor rebuild kit is NLA from Toro I

2 pointsMy wife drove my 310-8 into our concrete garage wall the first year I owned it. She thought it was in Reverse, had it in First instead. Nice dent in the hood and she has been hesitant to drive it since then even though I have put worse dents in it doing the same thing.

2 pointsThe wife asked me if I had $40. this morning, she said she wanted me to go pick up something for her that she got off craig list. Go to Casey,s and meet a guy named Joe in a gray Nisson P/U. Well it is Mother's Day so off I went, met him, and low and behold it was a JD lawn sprinkler tractor. She got a big laugh out of it. Well hooked it up to the hose put it in low and about 3 hrs. later it had only moved about 10', shifted to high and 3 hrs later it finally reached the end of a 50' hose. Wonder how it would look Red.

2 pointsThe last time my wife drove a I was gathering up rocks and stones from the yard and putting them in a dump cart. Wife asked what I was going to do with them and told her I would dump them at the edge of the small creek that runs through our property. She wanted to drive the 953 so I talked her through backing up the dump cart and pulling the handle. She did great, then she looked forward without shifting into a forward gear and let the clutch out for a second. The cart and rear tires were in the creek, she shut it off and climbed over the hood insinuating I had let her do that intentionally. I started it up and it drove right out, none the worse for the wear. Wish I had a camera with me!
