First decent day for outdoor work in a long time. Need to fill in some muddy spots. Later will put the york rake on the D to smooth out my work and the ranger will get in front of the lawn roller to pack it down. The trailer was a Father son project from the early 1960s. Originally designed for use behind a Porter Cable Mark26 rider. Was modified to fit the Ranger and then again a couple times to use better wheels/tires. May have to replace the bed soon, the almost 60yr old T-111 siding we used is starting to have issues Edit: Keep in mind the rear wheels on the Ranger are the same size as the fronts on the D

Put myself to work finishing the 753 for mowing duties this year, trans, rebuilt, finished up the genny and wired it last night. Waiting for a drive belt from my wheel horse dealer. Gotta hang the deck in a few weeks and she'll be good to go.

Upgrade to the horse hauler...

Did some painting yesterday as it was 55 plus degrees in Greencastle, Indiana! Painted an old Jacomson Chief gas tank I am going to use on an RJ rebuild. I had a new longer gas tank filler neck soldered on the tank to extend further above the hood of the RJ! Painted a recoil for an 8 HP Kohler motor I am redoing also.

Started cleaning up & swapping oil pans on an old B-1290 I got from Shynon a couple years ago. Finally getting it prepped for some new paint, just as soon as it warms up enough outside.

Had a quarter of the herd in today .... I was multitasking.. which in WHX16 speak means I probaly didn't get a damn thing done on any of them! Actually got the new to me 1077 stripped down for a power bath and find out what needs to be done to make a daily user. More on that in my 1277?? thread. Dug in the new to me A-81 and aquaint myself with her some. Grand kids sure did like it. Also consumated the deal with my main man @Rp.wh on a trade on this nice little 401 for a 416 trade. Not sure who got the short end of the stick here yet but check out the muff.... may have to throw that on Fleabay.... NOT!

Hello everyone! I just acquired a C195 for free and am in the process of replacing the transmission idler pulley and the PTO idler in front of the steer axle. Can't find any. Is there a cross reference number for either of them? Any help is welcome and appreciated . I have learned a lot from this site and will continue to do so. Many thanks in advance! I loaded 2 pics, my 9 year old son won't let me drive it yet. Long story behind this machine! Enjoy 😊

Someone needs to explain to me why garden tractors, lawn tractors and even big farm equipment from articulated 4 wheel drives to combines need to have sloping aero dynamically hoods? Sure you might get some better visibility, but there again on a combine the hoods in the back. I have farmed and mowed grass for years and I have never been hampered by needing to be able to cheat the wind by picking up extra speed to get down to the end of the field. I did not know that as I was mowing with a horse that my square open hood was hurting my speed. I just don’t see it. I must be missing something here. Maybe I should contact NASA or Gen. Chuck Yeager and ask them. For some reason something tells me if I did the guys with that white straight jacket might be after me. Yet people go out and purchase aero dynamically lawn equipment and people think nothing of it. Just can’t figure it out.

So I have a water well for our water source, been in service some 40+ YRS. Couple yrs ago the service pole finally rotted enough it had to be replaced, so I ask my retired licensed electrician if he'd help me freshen the underground wiring -- being the GOOD friend he is he said , sure! He had a goodly supply of various commercial grade wire and donated what he said was extra good quality stuff - mice, rodents, squirrels --- MOLES! would not touch it! Well, couple weeks ago, no water, go ck and breaker tripped reset and all good for couple days does it again-- and again... Call friend, he does his magic and says its going to ground (not being much lectric smart, I says ... um, OK!) So since the donated wire was multi strand he switched over to another two legs and -- OK! for about 10days and starts tripping breaker again. Yesterday we pulled the wire out of the ground and ---- HOLY SMOKE (literally!) see pictures. Amazing it was functioning at all. He was blown away, said he had used that wire in hundreds of applications and had never seen or heard of anything like it. There was about 35-38 feet of it buried and almost every inch of it was either nibbled on or --- worse, as can be seen at the charred places!! We replaced it with wire in conduit!! The well - and my bride, and me - are much happier now!

I put a 701 fenders pan I have on my 603 Wheel Horse. My brother David said he wanted fenders on the 603 !

you don't know how many times I've seen people wearing sandals or even bare feet while mowing. Especially kids so small using a push mower and the handle over their head! I would nick name this guy: "5 Horse Toenail Clippers! "

Hi guys.... I think i have a c120 (it say model 1-0490) ...and serial number 137589. (Belgium). Its an automatic. I can read the letters "charger" on the side.... The thing that gets me wondering....it has a 14hp Kohler engine which seems to be original (the previous owner said it was too) But im not able to find a 14hp charger automatic....Any ideas ? Havnt i searched enough ? or has someone just setup another engine ? Actually... im starting to like the "rust" (huh? )... As you can see...it has got some work...at least i got the engine making "turns"....so ill get that running. Dont think the transmission is working though...snif snif... Another ....saved from its horrible destiny....HAPPY And yes....first time this year...coffee outside in the sun...lovely

Did you try clamping a heavy piece of scrap steel to the pulley, ground an arc welder to the shaft and crank the welder up to 250 (or as high as you can) and burn a few rods onto the scrap steel. The heavy current flow through the rust will heat it because of rust's resistance to flow. once this has been done the resultant heat will allow you to melt some wax into the shaft/pulley gap as a lubricant.

Twas a nice day. A little soft yet to put any Horses on the pasture. Wife came home with 600 lbs. of manure mix in the back of her van. Had to throw the bags over the fence and haul 3 at a time in an overloaded wheel barrow. Would have love to use the PK loader but I'm trying to fix the yard not wreck it!

So, when she says , honey I would like to get an exercise bike, don't be upset and get it for her!

Hi all I’ve just acquired my first Wheel horse and it’s a 1986 512-D with the Robins Diesel engine from what I can see it was a one year only model into Europe. Any info anyone can give me would be great .

Hey brothers. I thought that I would help you out if you prefer the use of rattle can paint from Rustoleum. I wanted to try a big project of 4 tractors --all the wheels at once. The only way I can do it in less than ideal weather is to heat both the wheel in front of an electric heater and the paint in some hot water Here is a run-down of the products i used and why I used them. Rustoeum Professional primer just rocks! They make a red oxide and also a gray [#7582] which might be a Menard's number for $5.00. It is 15 ounces and the thing about it is it goes on thick enough that one spray coat will cover. The spray tip is larger, so you have to work fast. Leave the thin spots alone until it sets to avoid runs. I can spray a wheel dish in 30 seconds with this stuff after spraying the tire bead first.. I did 4 tractors front and rear --16 wheels with only two cans [ dishes and tire beads on the back side] Next, the wheel paint itself. I used Rustoleum painters touch 2X Ultra Cover Satin. It is so much better than the regular paint that Rustoleum sells. It sprays thicker without so much solvent mist and does not run very easily.. Probably your best bet is to spray a full cover coat, wait 25 minutes and hit it again to bring it to a gloss.It will dry to touch in only three hours or so even in 50 degree weather The only drawback is that the full contents of the can might not spray the greatest, So use the last bits on the back side of the wheels. That may be due to my heating the full can in hot water and then not heating it again as it cooled The satin is the stuff to use because it is run resistant to a greater degree than gloss. I used 249076 Satin Heirloom White. I think it has that perfect off white/yellow tint like OEM, but not quite as yellow as the Almond. This paint costs less than standard Rustoleum......and the product goes twice as far. 4 to 5 cans should do 3 sets of tractor wheels. I like a more sealed finish, so I added Rustoleum clear coat in semi-gloss. The wheel came out beautifully. Using this method works well because i think it is worth it for small stuff or jobs like this that are stop and start. Spraying out of a gun would be out of the question in these conditions

@953 nut I just try to save good stuff from the scrap yard . If I build anything "custom" everyone would have a big laugh. Can't weld , can't see or hear to good ,it would look like Frankenhorse's deformed cousin ( AKA @squonk or it that snonk )

I don't think a key-way could be milled into that crank without removing it.There are bound to be lots of dead Tecumsehs out there with bad ignition systems you could pick up cheap for a crank shaft.

You're taking stuff like that to the scrap yard? Why not offer it up for the scrap price or free? Damaged parts are great for building custom stuff

Did you find any crispy critters attached to the wire?

In order for that endeavor In order for an endeavor like this to be worth, it he has to manufacture a substantial number of them. On his first batch I know that he was a little frustrated by the lack of response to them and how long it took to sell them. Believe me, with all the time involved, financial output, and waiting, it is really not worth it for him to do it. I am sure he did it for the love of this hobby and to try and help others obtain something which is relatively rare and prohibitively expensive when found.So having said all of that why don't we all get together and put in an order that will make it worth for him to do it without having to hang on to them for a year. I know that no one wants to spend money needlessly but many of us own tractors that use them, many with mufflers already on the way out. I star by committing to buy another one.

All I'm thinking is 16? Right now, there's 3 that Emory and I need to pick up. Without them we're at 13 running, one nonrunner, 1 parts. Oops, I lost count of how many we have, never mind. I won't pick on you anymore! But in all fairness, at least three of the ones we have now will probably have to go to other homes to support the three we still have to pick up!

I am a level seven , the wife calls a " funny little man " , my mother (she is 91 ) calls me a stubborn jackass. Everybody else calls me a grump or worst. Never thought I would make it to level seven.

Only one looked decent others all would need work. One had a tiller on it. Lift was a cobbled affair. Early one kind of a basket case. Two engines with it a 3.5hp Tecumseh and a small cast iron Briggs. Did not take a camera with me today.

This seems like as good a place as any to ask this question... @jay bee I'm kicking myself for not buying one of your first run of these mufflers for my '81 C-105. It seems like from everything I've searched recently, including eBay, that you're completely sold out at this point. Is that true, and is there any chance you would consider having your builder make another set? I would definitely be interested, and it seems like others are interested as well.

It is getting close to “spring cleaning” here in the Cheddar State notwithstanding the fact that they are talking around 10” of the white stuff in northern Wisconsin over the next 36 hours! So today, we used JackRabbit to pull the wagon and haul some wood related trash back to the burn pit... Zach was loving going for a ride and helping his big brother throw the junk out. I needed to move GhostRider out of the shed again to access some of the stuff that needed to be cleaned out. So, I decided to take my first ever pic of the two tractors together... my favorite photo bombs got in on the action then Judge took GhostRider for a drive around the yard. I need to say here that I really like the seat on JackRabbit. I’m going to reserve full judgment on it until I spend a couple hours mowing with it—if Caleb lets me!!!

You guys might be onto something there. Color choice was pretty much me just being. ..me. I ain't quite right and I'm ok with it. HAD to have something different, unique. We went to the big orange Box store. Stood in the paint aisle. Decided that this color "didn't suck" ... so we bought it.

The white is just a tiny bit more tan than the off white or antique white on WH. The cinnamon is pretty much reddish brown. ...or brownish red.

Lookin' good.... That's a killer white! Whether you like it or not... If i tilt my laptop just the right way.... that hood & pan are still red.

You can attach a pulley by drilling a hole 1/2 in the pulley, 1/2 in the shaft. Thread the hole with a tap and lock it together with a set screw

Now we know what @953 nut does in his spare time , looks at pictures.

I was using the same drain you did. Didn't know until these posts that there is one on the bottom. I'm using it today

Sand off any paint around the regulator mounting bolts. Use star lock washers and some dielectric grease to make sure the regulator body is well grounded. Use you ohm meter to check resistance between regulator case and batt (-)

Should be two wires coming out of the stator that go on the outside terminals and the middle terminal should be 12 volts. Normally the regulator is grounded through the engine in that since the cooling tin is metal but it wouldn’t hurt to try a ground jumper to the regulator body.
