Thanks for all the kind words guys. It was a real blessing getting Jackrabbit up and running again after three months in the shop.It was a lot better with a new seat brace on there instead of rocking all over the placeIt started better than it used to and seems to run pretty good too.I'm finally able to comment on my own projects.Just happy to be on the best GT forum in the whole world.

I have been on this forum with my dad for the last couple of years.I know what this forum is but now I get to be part of it. I'm so excited to be able to be a part of the gang.

Well—my many friends, near and far, I promised Caleb that if he stuck it out on the JackRabbit project he could become a member the day we were able to drive it again. Today is that day! I’m happy to introduce to you a guy that many of you feel like you know from just following this thread. It is hard to believe that he has been turning soil with me for over five years now! I’ll have to dig up the first plowing video that I ever took of him from the summer of 2012. It is classic! We talked about Lots of possible screen names but he liked Coulter Caleb the best. He has earned the privilege to be here as long as he respects you guys like he should. It’ll be fun to share this hobby with him in a whole new way...

Did consider, "Spring starts tomorrow!" Removed chains, took the snow plow off, the '90 520-8 is ready to dethatch the lawns. Ground is very soggy, but, the Horses 'n I are ready. Or....will be. One poor Horse, upset, still wearing his dozer (just in case). His Horse friend still dressed for mowing, eager to graze on grass! Hasn't been out to play since fall. Prefer the green grass smell over the wind blowing white cold wet nasty junque. You? Isn't this why our stables need more Horses? One for each grandson, another for every chore. Even the Mustang wants out!

Got my 417-A running again, adjusted the brake pedal on Skittles and finished stripping the parts 418-A I have. Kinda productive.

Here's a video I know that most of you will enjoy. It's about my '84 C-125 I bought used from a Toro Wheel Horse Dealership for $1050 when I was 17. That's almost 12 years ago. It's had some different deck configurations and small things done to it over the years like different tires, cup holder, new seat, tail lights, 48" side discharge deck front mounted, 42" rear discharge deck, snowplow, and one of my favorites is my homemade 5 gallon bucket holder. This is the tractor that I mow my yard with now and I used to mow the grass around my Dad's barns at his farm with it too. This winter I did a bunch of work to this tractor. I repaired my front pivot plate, installed a new front pivot pin, spindles, clutch pulley, front tires, voltmeter. I re-wired the tractor and cleaned up the harness. I had my front rims powder coated and I installed new wheel bearings and dust caps. I also bought and installed the missing firewall and bracket for the belt guard that this tractor never came with. The good ole K301 was getting low on compression so I had it rebuilt and in the video I start it up for the first time. Wheel Horse C-125 First / Cold Start After Rebuild and Tractor Overview

I finally had a chance to go pick up my new sign, it still had the original divider paper from when it was new. I did not get the box but I believe it was never installed because the nail/screw holes do not have any paint missing or show any signs of wear.

I have two of those little mustangs. Very simple but cool machines. One day they will get thier turn.

No need to get rid of the fuel bowl, best design they ever had. The originals had a steel line that went from the bowl to the carb. Probably added to the strength of it. I think there is some contamination that is keep it from getting repaired right. Maybe it needs to be hot tanked or just find a used one in good shape. Here is my OCC, first year of production. My Dad and I redid this 12 or 13 years ago.

So I put in some driving time on Saturday, and wouldn’t you know it, some Horses followed me home again! I ended up with a patina’ed 1973 8hp and a 1974? B80 with a coat of peeling house paint. Neither are running at the moment, but the engines are free, everything is there, and the metal is straight. I also ended up with a snow plow, mowing decks, a tiller, and my father in law got a brinly plow and a Wheel Horse brand discer. I also met Joe in Polo, IL, and I will definitely have to stop there again.

There is no release valve in a gear drive transmission. Just make sure both the hi/lo and the tranny shifters are in neutral. Also check the brake drum to be sure the band is releasing.

Looks Broken to me. Save yourself some money open the diagonal plug on the transmission rear left side add oil though dipstick till it runs out plug. That is full.

Always one of my first upgrades. I use Loctite Blue, no need for heat if you need to take / replace a bolt.

Well, Emory's Lawn Ranger saw the light of day again. I pulled it apart to put in a trans that I got from @oldredrider, tires from @limited12, wheels from Miller tire, hubs from eBay, and a sanding with clear coat. Check out the before and after pics. I also tore down the deck that came under Emory's Roadrunner. Gonna put it under Coyote and put it to use. I had to cut out 5 sections and graft in new metal, make new baffles, fill a few holes, wire wheel the underside, etch prime the new metal, and put rust converter on the underside. After it cures, I'll seal the seams with polyurethane sealant and beeline the underside. A couple of the spindles are corroded, but have 3 boots holding them, and I have 2 new pulleys for the spindles.

Hello When we try to push the machine with out it running or in gear. The rear wheels are locking up. Is there a release valve? I have to push it from the storage area to the shop, the motor is rapping. Thank you

I have decided not to install them. The guys at the machine shop where able to get the rotating assembly balance within a gram. I still had them install new balance weight studs and bearings in the gears. Just in case. I will assembly the engine with out and if i’m not happy with it I can install the gears. But I have a feeling I will not need to. If any of that rambling made sense.

Another option would be stick a cow magnet on the bottom and hopefully the piece would find it. Also a magnetic drain plug is cheap insurance.

Here are a couple of photos of my ditch mower. The state thinks I need a canyon for a ditch, so after a year of weed eater tourture, I decided that there had to be a better way. I just took an old lawnboy and made a new aluminum deck with open ends, then made a frame and arms from square tubing. A harbor freight winch raises and lowers the arms with the control switch incorporated into the tractors motion lever. On the right side of the tractor, there is a car battery, onboard charger, and 200 pounds of steel which all serves as a counterweight. This was the sixth year I've used it and have had really good luck so far. The only thing I want to change is to make the unit quick tach so the tractor could be used for other things.

The true blessing is having a great young man like you join us! Glad Jackrabbit is coming along well, my 418-C is going to get some love over the next few months too.

Due to a parts deficit I was unable to do any assembly this weekend. Instead I worked on the weights for the front of the tractor. I have some 8x8x3" counter weights laying around, they weight about 50lbs, but this size was hard to work with. I took one of these blocks and cut it in half to make two 4x8x3" blocks. I then made a bracket to mount it to the tractor. This bracket was made from a piece of 1/4x2" flat stock. I took the two 4x8x3" blocks, drilled my mounting holes and soften the edges up a little with a grinder. Here's a pic with every thing mocked up. I'm hoping that this will be enough to hold the front end down while plowing. Hopefully I can make more progress on the assembly next weekend.

Hello to all my wheel horse family, i am new to red square, but a long time wheel horse lover, haha so excuse me if i,m not all there. having been able to upload any pics but that's another story the real reason i,m here because i was wondering if ....... any one has one of the last year wheel horse gt14 ? or know what year was the last year ? and was there any deference? have 3 wheel horse gt14 but one is all factory, in like new condition and is nothing like my other ones

BTW for all those have never met Caleb in person he is a really good kid and hopefully he will not follow in his father's footsteps of bending nails in perfectly good lumber ! I do know he has also developed a penchant for round hoods which hopefully we can nourish! My first plow day he got to tool around on a 401 which we never got pics of but one could tell his desires! Rest easy Caleb we got lots of round hoods here at the JC Ranch and you are welcome anytime to work them! Might even perusade Dad to get one for you!

We picked up a lighted sign this weekend. Not as old, cool I think though. It's 10fx3ft. It's lighted, they said it works. Got it pretty reasonable

Thank you that has been my plan on the sediment bowl, as much as I was wanting to keep near original as possible, as you see I've already went with a modernized bendix/ring gear starter K series from a 70s Gravely and the square cushioned seat, dad and redone this when I was around 11-12 years old nearly 35 years ago, here's a pic about a month after it was done with me driving it through a local antique parade, and a video of my 10 year son driving it not long after the engine swap, Jeff. A local dealer had a sell out today. Got a bunch of parts and a ton of belts. Also a lot of books and brochures. Many pics to come and a lot will be for sale once it's sorted through! To give you an idea on how many belts are in that box, the box is 3ftx3ft

Wow Carl—what a story! Thank you for sharing the long version because I have taken a lot away from it. As a youth pastor at our local church, I’m going to share your story with our teens this upcoming wednesday night. First, because we have several 17 year olds represented and young people have what I call “a super man complex”. It is that feeling that they are invincible and that causes a unique (narrow) outlook on life. I had it when I was young too. I don’t look down upon them but look for opportunities to share with them a bigger picture. Next, I feel that it is beneficial to realize that life is a gift and it can be over in a second. It is important to be prepared for what is next. Also, we need to keep short accounts with those family and friends around us—we never know when it will be the last time that we will see them. It is never to early to tell those close to us that we love them and better yet show them through our actions. In addition, I see that life goals and aspirations can change in a moment. You had a direction and a plan for what you wanted to do and in a moment people were trying desperately to keep you alive. Your whole life changed and yet it wasn’t over. Sometimes when individuals go through a dark, life changing event, they can’t recover to the point of living with a “new normal”. I also find it awesome that your that your life was spared because God wasn’t finished with you on this earth. We never know when our time is up and so it is important to live every day to its fullest potential. Finally, it should go without saying that firearms safety is absolutely important. There is no fooling around with them. I never place the fault on the gun for an accident but when that trigger is pulled, you can’t undo it and bring that bullet back... Yes sir, thank you for sharing this difficult story and being so transparent with us. I’m sorry that you had to go through that difficult valley in your life but it appears that you are a stronger person because of it.

I used the Rustoleum stuff you can get at Lowes. I've used it for a couple of years now and it seems to keep the rust at bay as long as you wire wheel the metal really good first and topcoat it with something. I used another brand on a VW Thing I did and it's held up great. Only time will tell. Topside of the deck ain't gonna be real pretty thanks to my welding skills or lack of, but hopefully I've added a few years to its life. Got it and Roadrunner for $50 at the Big auction last fall - and people laughed at me!
