Oh you lot are so kind, many thanks. I will definitely get going with a post on here and myoldmachine. I would like Betsie to go to someone who will be able to fix her and enjoy her if there is nobody around these parts who could fix her for me, I have so many happy memories of her doing her "stuff". She has a tipping trailer which eventually was falling to bits so we got that totally overhauled so doesn't really look as it did, however does the job. At 1 time I was creating a 100 metre Heather bank and hauled great big stones in the trailer with no bother at all. Another time it was Spring and the 1st grass cut of the year. Betsie cut our longish and wet grass no problem. Our next door neighbour who had EVERYTHING which opened and shut ie had loadsa money! had a brand new huge Honda lawn tractor. Seeing we had cut our grass he takes out his new sparkling machine to cut his. The Honda cuts about 2 foot of grass and conks out. After lots of attempts and swearing, neighbour phones me and asks to borrow old Betsie. "Of course" says I with a huge. Betsie cuts his grass no problem, she got a big pat from me when neighbour returned her. He had a look of disbelief that our old slightly battered machine had been so much better than his new load of rubbish

Got sick an tired of waiting for the florescent light fixtures to come on ( if at all ) in the garage during the cold weather . Also getting too old to spin wrenches by candlelight . Ordered 5 LED 4 foot shop fixtures from Amazon and will post before & after pics today when install is finished . As promised I love them !

I recently stumbled onto a 314-H that came with plenty add ons. Good deal so far getting better seeing it run right. Had a weird sound, almost ghastly when starting it up and riding around. Starting working on it fixing this and that, went to change out the belt cause I knew it needed a new one, and found the cold start pulley in shambles. Replaced it with new one from Rural King and now the belt is nice and tight and the drive is less jerky. This is my first Hyrdo wheel horse and been interesting working with it. Cant wait to run the tiller with hydro, last season I did it all with manual lift and no rockshaft...

We are sensitive to this subject, but the aviation hobby if frightened of ethanol. First I will share a little easy to do test for ethanol because the gas station operator has no idea if there is any in the gas or not. Also some aviation concerns. To determine if ethanol is in the gas: On a test tube or olive bottle six or seven inches long, make a permanent line about two inches from the bottom. Fill with water to this line, then fill the tube to the top with gasoline. Cover the tube, agitate it, and let it stand. The ethanol and water will mix and separate out together. If the water level appears to have increased, the fuel contains ethanol and should not be used. Ethanol percentages of less than 5% can sometimes give a reading below the line. Therefore, any deviation in the water line indicates the presence of ethanol and should serve as a basis for rejecting the fuel. DO NOT burn fuel with ethanol in your airplane. Revert to 100LL if ethanol free gasoline cannot be found. Ethanol fuels can damage the rubber and aluminum components of your aircraft fuel system. Ethanol increases the volatility of fuel. Ethanol can absorb significant amounts of water in flight. Ethanol may vent off at altitude, reducing both range and octane. Ethanol has fewer BTUs than conventional gasoline, which further reduces range. Ethanol has an affinity for water and can pull moisture from inlet air on humid days to such an extent that the engine may malfunction. Allowing gasoline with ethanol to remain in the airplane for extended periods of time has resulted in the need to replace carburetors, hoses, and gaskets. It has also been reported to clean the interior of fuel tanks, leaving the accumulated sludge in the screen. If you cannot find gasoline that you are certain is ethanol free, you must revert to using avgas. Not all gasoline service station pumps label ethanol content. The ethanol industry considers pump labeling to be discriminatory and lobbied successfully for elimination of Federal pump labeling laws in regards to ethanol content. Today's pumps are labeled as to ethanol content only if state law requires it. It has become increasingly difficult for many pilots in the US to obtain ethanol free gasoline. In some areas of the country, it is impossible to find. This is primarily due to Federal requirements and EPA regulations which require ever increasing quantities of ethanol to be blended into the nation's gasoline supply. Oil companies are required to add ethanol or they face hefty fines. Most of them today however are happy to use it because it allows them to manufacture an inferior product (sub-octane gasoline) and then to sell it for the same amount of money after blending in ethanol to make up the octane deficit. You must be vigilant when purchasing fuel to make certain that it is conventional, non ethanol gasoline. Be certain, before ordering an STC, that you are able to purchase conventional, non-ethanol gasoline of the proper Anti-Knock Index or AKI. Be aware that sub-octane gasoline (gasoline intended for the addition of ethanol) is being distributed to terminals in the US. Never use gasoline with an octane rating less than the minimum proscribed on your Auto Fuel STC.The old maxim is: “You may always go up in octane but not down.” Failing to observe this one simple rule can lead to catastrophic engine failure due to detonation.

Well it's been a few years since I've done anything with my C-125 that I aquired from "Stevebo" a long time ago. I went through it and repainted it about 7-8 years ago and it is showing it's age. Time to give it a face lift and bigger heart!

Brought home this 516 last year with a locked Eaton 700. Changed out the 700 with an 1100 and decided to cut a hole in the hood. I always been partial to those Mopars with the shaker hoods. Though it would be cool on a WH. the machine need a little more work, next in line to finish.

My son and I back at working on my father inlaws pulling tractor. It was about 50 degrees yesterday so no heat needed in the garage. Got the front tires mounted and put on the tractor, installed rear wheel weights and wired up the lights. Maybe today run to Walmart for a battery and see if it will run.

I have one 4' LED over my workbench in the garage and the rest are fluorescents...the LED not only starts instantly it's much brighter. I was so impressed I went out and bought a couple more. Mine came from BJ's Wholesale Club and were about $34 each. Youll be happy!

My new drive gear from @wheelhorseman arrived and fit perfectly. A special thanks to Lowell for making the parts to keep these pumps in working order. Part of the control lever for the hydro pump had been broken off before I purchased the tractor. The break was about where I have the yellow line drawn. My plans are to use a heim joint to connect the lever to a handle on the dash for easier access. In order to do this I needed some more material to work with, so I welded an extension on. After I get my hiem joint I can cut the extension down to the appropriate length. Before welding on the handle, I wrapped foil around the valve drum to keep weld spatter off. I had cleaned up my plow & repainted it so I decided to put it back together. Only thing left to do is to put the new decals on.

I was told that air cooled engines run cooler with higher octane gas. Don't know this to be fact. I always use high test in my tractors. The manuels may call for regular, but regular was higher than 87 octane in the 60's & 70's ...

Hi Sue. I'm just over the border near Carlisle. Bit far for me to come up to you. The C-125 are great machines. I have one that has been in regular use for a few years. There are some lads up your way who may be able to help. Go on MoM. myoldmachine.com. There's a link at the top of the page. Put your request on there. The Fife Plooman may be able to point you in the right direction. There is a show near Edinburgh at the end of March. Tractorfest Scotland. I'm taking two of my Wheel Horses. May be worth a day out.

Oh sorry I didn't realise there is a classified section. I will take a few photos of Betsie and post them there. Many thanks for your help everybody. I will certainly have a look at myoldmachine . Part of me really doesn't want to sell my Wheelhorse, hence why I've kept her for 3 years doing nothing but at the same time I honestly don't know anybody who would have the time and desire to get the old girl up and running again. Anybody fancy a trip over to Scotland to fix her for me?

Thanks for the welcomes but I am not smart enough to load pics until maybe my daughter can help. Right now the raider is in pieces all over the shop with most cleaned, painted and ready to be reassembled. The transmission is apart right now and a few of the parts in there have seen better days. The 5174 low and reverse gear on the input shaft is chewed up and needs replaced and the 7213 Hi/Lo detent bolt is broke. Besides seals and a new gasket Is there any other parts I should replace while in there? Maybe new thrust washers and circlips on the axles? While here I want to say thanks to Steveasaurus for his transmission videos. Very well done and will save this horse for better days ahead.

During a recent conversion with a friend about gas, he mentioned that he was under the impression that the higher octane fuels had less ethanol than the 87. Not sure if this is true and /or if the higher octane would damage the M-18 Kohler. Any thoughts? BTW, for those of you who live in the Red Lion and Delta areas of PA, there is s new Royal Farms on 74 (towards Delta) that carries ethanol free gas at roughly $1.00 more than the unleaded regular. ok today it finally drives! The tractor moves pretty good, its a little slow but its all good... I put on some 22" rears and bigger fronts.... My only big problem now is that a regular tractor battery does not fit now, need a skinnier battery. I am thinking a atv or motorcycle battery might work i hope.... I notched the hood, i had no choice because the muffler i got needed the clearance...

Don't knock wipers on headlights. Standard equipment on Volvos and they work like a charm. Only draw back is that they are a dealer item only. A bit pricey.

Even in vehicles designed for it Ethanol reduces gas mileage as there are fewer BTUs (or hp hours) per gallon. Note on this chart how much weaker the E85 stuff is and that is what some are pushing for....sad.

I agree, foam is a real problem and expensive stuff no matter how you do it. Off the shelf stuff won't work for long and will break down, not to mention it has zero cushion to it. I doubt anyone would care about the additional cost when getting a new seat with foam included - these things would ride so much better the sticker price would be a distant memory. Sarge

to the @sue white. for the interesting story. Please consider putting Betsie back in working condition. Hopefully you will find another local Wheel Horse owner that will be willing to offer help. If not, there are many experts on this forum that will assist you with advice, photos and video. Best of luck,

Power steering valve mounted, shaft cut and male connector installed. Had to cut out the u joint that was there because it would sit the box too low. I want this to where if I had to I could put the steering back stock. Didn’t want to cut the steering column tube. Now to get hoses made.

way back in 1988 I bought my first new truck, only new truck to tell the truth, I was having problems with fuel mileage and some performance issues after about 3 months of ownership. So I took it back to the dealer and they wanted to replace the fuel injectors. It is throttle bodied injected. The mechanic pulled the air cleaner and looked into the throttle body and then looked back at me and asked what for grade gas i run it it then answered himself and said 93 octane right. the inside of the throttle body was perfectly clean. He went ahead and changed the injectors anyways and told me that high test gas has additives that clean fuel injectors and keep motors and fuel injectors cleaner then regular. I ran high test for years in all my vehicles. After working for and oil company doing furnace repairs, the tanker drivers told me that mid grade gas is just a 50/50 blend of high test and regular, so I started using mid grade in my vehicles with out any problems, kinda getting the best of both world so to speak. With that being said I only run high test in my tractors and lawn equipment. A lot of my tractors sit for months on end and so far I have had very little if any problems. sometimes the tractor will run a little funny till I get the old gas run out of it but it does run, and by the way I do add stay-bil to my gas when I buy it. eric j

I'm sure if you get into our Euro section or one of the other forums you'll find plenty of Wheel Horse collectors and those that can work on these machines and know what they are doing. There are quite a few here with plenty of skills in the UK mostly - as well as other sections of Europe. I'm sure one of them would tackle repairing the issues with that tractor and put it back into working service, their passion for these drives them to keep these machines alive for as long as possible. I understand your frustration with the Deere - they are not what they used to be , especially compared to your C-125 WH . That model is very tough and simple - nothing on it is all that hard to repair or replace if you can find/afford the parts and there are some parts folks have collected and saved in Europe, including decks. Don't be too quick to sell it - there is no reason it can't be fixed and put in service again, these machines are known to perform for 50yrs or more easily. Sarge

I’m praying it will. So far so good. May not be fully painted but I am trying my best. Seat adjuster will be stock As far as steering goes if by some chance it didn’t work out(which it should) I could put the stock shaft and fan gear back in and be good to go.
