Got my Commando 8 back together today...perfect excuse to snap a few glamour shots . These tractors just look great with snowy white backgrounds!

They say there's no substitute for cubic inches so how about a couple of more! The engine on my 1267 (Skonk) started giving up the ghost. It has had a checkered past. Stuck exhaust valve before I got it. No carb base gasket, leaky valve cover and louder than heck but it ran good. Tore the tractor down and painted it up. Didn't touch the engine. Right after this on it's way to the downtown Memorial Day show it started to misfire and puff of blue out the exhaust. Had to clean the plug. Didn't think too much of it. Took it to The Big Show thru the parade no problems. Pretty much sat until this winter. Put all the snow plow stuff on including loaded tires, wheel weights ect. Well after about an hour it's misfiring again. Pulled plug and it's fouled. I had to dig out the crud. Then it get worse. After 15 min misfiring again. Not much smoke but it's getting oil on the plug. I buy an anti-fouler to try to limp thru winter. Not any better. I switch all the snowplow stuff over to the C-160 that I'm trying to keep nice but I have no choice as a storm is coming. That gives me fits as well as the carb had to come apart for cleaning plus the fuel pump died. But I get it running. What to do? Rebuild the K301? Try to find another motor at the show? I want to keep the 67 vintage look (Starter Genny) setup. I do have a K321 on the shelf I bought 4 yrs. ago at the show but it's a regular starter model engine. I ask @Shynon his opinion and for tips. Yes the K321 can be made to look like the vintage look I want. On with the job! The donor motor. K321 on the operating table. Tom said the ring gear would have to come off the flywheel for the shroud to fit and he was correct. Original 301 shroud mocked up. IT FITS! Head off the 301. I need to use it for the height and genny bracket to fit. This is after about 4 hours of run time. I replaced the gasket on it when I painted the tractor in May. There was a large build up around the exhaust valve. This was all cleaned. You can see the buildup around the valve already and all the oil on top of the piston. I can't believe it didn't smoke more! Look at all the oil and crud on the anti fouler and plug. This about 15 min of run time! Head off the 321. Not to bad. I'll give it a cleaning. First coat of paint on the Big Block Paint all done. Pulled off the old block. 51 years of grime! 321 starting to go together All set to drop in. Getting the engine bolted up leaves the lift table free to lift the whole tractor to work on. I had to use the pulley off of the 301. Donor had a larger pulley so I believe it was off of a hydro. All done and ready to test fire. Took about four revolutions and it started right up with out the choke even being on! Just need to fine tune the carb and put the hood, belt and guard on and it will be ready for a run around the block!

Decisions , Decisions Well I started making my seat for the little Long Ranger and I haven't made up my mind yet. I think I like the red and black better then the white and black. I literally had to disassemble the old seat to take measurements of all the pieces that go into making a seat. I even had to buy a heavy Industrial sewing machine that would handle the fabric thickness. I've already made the seat for my 1054 and it really came out nice. The material is all UV anti fade and the thread is all UV poly thread. I'm trying to find the right density foam for the seats, not only is it hard to find but it's quite expensive. The pleats in the seat I've had to sew in 1 inch spacing but I'm looking into buying pressed pleats to make it look more natural. I'm in the experimental phase right now. Trying to see what I can do to make these old seats, But trying to make them look natural or original is impossible because the fabric is no longer available. The old seats where embossed pleated vinyl fabric. there is no foam in the lawn ranger seats yet. That's why there sort of flat. But they were made to last. The last pictures are my 1054

Been trying to figure a way to get an 8 speed transmission from Mass to Maine for about 4 or 5 months... it happened today. Thanks to @JimmyJam and his wife! Looking forward to seeing you in the spring. VERY nice folks! We picked up a roller chassis and some other stuff and got more than I even knew he was bringing up. Some new parts for my C160 build as well.

Picked up this suburban 401 last night. Along with some other goodies. 401 needs the hood fixed and it has hh60 on it. It runs and drives fine, but I will be putting a k91 on it. So got a little work to do to it. But it came with all the guards and the deck. Deck got new bearings put in it. Just never got put back together. But overall it's a very solid tractor and everything else that came with the deal was just stuff I seen and got thrown In on a package deal. The extra engine is a k161 that runs really good. The radio, well someone installed a aftermarket radio in. But it turns on and plays tunes great!!!

Beautiful patina on that one edgro! As usual didn't get a dang thing done on my horses but did get @Rp.wh 's Raider motor in and fired up. Would say it purrs like a kitten but it doesn't...it roars like a lion!!! Got a good feeling about this motor build. Now if i can just get him to CHECK THE OIL before plowing! Oh did get a nice little package from @Vinylguy today tho! Thanks Terry!

I also have a 1977 B80. Great tractor. Very good on gas and will hold its own when plowing or cutting grass. My B80 starts better then my new one. I've since repaired the seat and it'll get a full makeover this spring. And pictures help us droll over nice wheel horse's. AND TO THE BEST WHEEL HORSE SITE IN THE WORLD.

you won't find a better place for tips and advice on anything Wheel Horse related. The people here are awesome too, some of us may be a bit, shall I say different, but a very good group of guys here who know a lot about these little red tractors and are more than willing to lend a hand, should you ever need it. Looking forward to seeing some of your B-80. And as stated above, these little rascals do like to multiply, I started with my 1277 and less than two years later I am up to 4.

Found a 54" plow blade on CL and swapped it over to the '95 520H, one less thing for @WHX14 to fuss at me for not having a red tint to it , Jeff.

Thanks for the warm welcome! In my other life, I have a Kubota with back hoe and a cab, but I needed something I could have some fun with. I also have a few hit and miss engines. My retirement is becoming very complex.

I used my 3/12 as a tow tractor today. My 36" walk behind has a bad drive belt and I'm taking it to work on Monday for its yearly total service. My yard is ice and snow so pushing a 400lb commercial mower was not a fun option. Chained up the front castor yoke to the weight bracket and away I went.

Hello new to the forum I just bought a 1997 520h with 387 hrs has a snowblower single stage and mower deck its in real good shape i think it just needs a little maintaince. Engine surges hopefully just needs a carb and tank cleaning. Headlights don t work and need to replace a idler sprocket on blower and possible have to replace the lift seal because the snowblower won't stay up it slowly lowers not sure if that's normal because if weight or needs to be fixed. Overall very happy I bought it I grew up using my father's 520h

Once I stuck a wood stove in the back of the Volvo wagon for a 250 mile ride. Wife was not happy . Since then it has hauled per trip (1) 10 in plow and cultivator (2) 42 in RD deck { where is that guy}, (3) Chassis with tower and front wheels (4 ) grader blade (5) four tires. Wife gave up giving me the stare.

Sorry to hear that Bob, know you weren't walking too well at the show but didn't know how serious it was, You should be able to milk this for a while longer.

I like the red and black it shows better. Now we know you can handle new seat covers but do you wash windows?

You could stay busy for a few years filling the needs of all of us who own older with raggedy seats.

So yes, the newer head was a dead ringer for the older head! She is all back together now and seems to be running great. I wasn’t a fan of the chrome stack on a “patina” machine so before I fired it up it got a light sanding and a few coats of hi-temp black paint....much better !

I had a problem with a seller once. Bought some frt wheels for my Power King. Turned out the guy was local and I had bought the tractor from him. I get a message that he's refunding my money because he doesn't have the wheels. I still have his phone number so I cal him. He says The wheels are gone but he does have another set if I want them. So I go look at them and they are trash so I take the refund. I see the wheels I won on the auction sitting in the corner. I ask about them and he says they belong to someone else. Last time I would ever deal with him.

I went thru this same exact thing with a part for my homelite xl12 chainsaw back in December. I needed a crankshaft for it cuz the threads stripped on mine. Found one on fleabay and purchased it right away. Couple days went by nothing..... week went by nothing.... so I messaged the seller. Nothing. Couple more days later I messaged again asking where and when is my part being shipped. Still nothing. Took my money no issues tho. End of week 2 waiting around and I put in the complaint issue thru ebay. Still nothing! So I gave up gave him the worst possible feedback I could do all negative. Wouldn't ya know it he messaged me day later saying he doesn't have the part and is refunding my money. And btw had the stones to ask me to change the feedback. No way lol. Waste of time.

Hello All, Acquaintance of mine bought pair of Husky lawn tractors off local dealer that took them in on trade when customer didnt want to have them repaired. Both running on 1 cylinder and purchased as is... One with gray rear fenders is a 2006 with 133 hrs... other is 2007 with unknown hours. Both have lunched both headgaskets... both full of grass / dirt / oil leaks and crud... both have overheated which caused guides to walk out of head far enough and crash into valve retainer and bend push rods. Gray fender tractor looks like it also suffered from the poor air cleaner design which if not sealed correctly causes the motor to suck dirt like crazy---I think its gonna smoke like a freight train when I get it back together. I agreed to fix both and told owner they may smoke and thats that... he is paying for all parts and I get a very very nice 310-8 with deck in running condition. So far im into it for about 3 hrs labor... going to clean heads, fix guides and order parts and Ill let everyone know how it goes. Guess they dont make engines like they used to... A Kohler K thats 45 odd yrs old still outruns these new fangled ones. Hey Sparky.... remember Claude? Yep there his... Tony

Once you make the first couple of passes you will be able to clear what was left over where you raised the blade a little. This is the first year that I've had a Hydro as a plow tractor and it makes it sooooo much easier to raise and lower the blade as well as changing speed to match conditions.

Since I use PayPal all the time, I was surprised to hear that eBay was going to be using a new payment service. However, PayPal will still be available for eBay use until 2023. I only had one bad experience where a part was not shipped and the buyer never got back to me. Trouble was, the buyer died before he could ship. eBay took care of the refund, as they should with their "buyer protection".
