11 pointsWhat a miraculous transformation, your $ 50.00 auction find has definitely gone from rags to riches. Job well done and a project you will both remember fondly.
-
10 pointsYes, tell her you just need to buy one more. If that doesn't work, perhaps another will definitely do it. Do that a few times and if that doesn't work, tell her the cure must be in the attachments and proceed with buying those. Once you get that far and have an attachment for every tractor, report back and show us all your cool stuff!
-
8 pointsOnly one way to fix it - get her involved a lot more . We probably need a separate support group for the spouses , just don't put it on the same site or we'll get caught more often...lol . Sarge

7 pointsI don't agree with the notion that a cure is needed or even desirable! The only cure I can think of is permanent.
-
7 pointsYou know how they say if you go to the hospital you'll get sick...well I've been hanging around the "horse"pital and I think I am coming down with something that from what I hear there is no cure.
-
7 pointsHis work & efforts on it, will greatly increase his appreciation of it, and if I were in your shoes, that would be a priceless reward from the project!
-
7 pointsWell, I've worked most of the day. I managed to get the drive belt on, the rest of the panels on, paint buffed, decals from Terry on, aircleaner mount made, both filters on, throttle and choke hooked up, knobs from Glen on, and ... I just need to put a battery in, gas in, and exhaust on to fire her up. My last thing to do is wire the lights and add a few special touches. Fourth pic is showing how glossy the hood is (ignore the ugly reflection). Whew, I'm pooped! Heading to Dad's so we can get up around 5 and put our Christmas ham on to cook in the morning.
-
6 pointsWent to an auction last Saturday, called my wife and said guess what is here, a wheel horse loader. Then I called her back and said merry Christmas it's on it's way home lol. She said seriously, I said yup lol. Got it mounted today
-
6 pointsIf there is a cure I don't want any part of it. I have a plan and am working the plan. All I have to do is keep reminding her about the 8 grandkids. And work on @wallfish plan for attachments for each one. Every grandchild needs a set of attachments. lol

6 points..... NNOOOOPE !!! Like walking in to your doctors feeling great and he sends your right to critical care. How did Eddie Murphy put it “ it’s like herpes you carry it around for life like old luggage “ . Once you buy a Horse and find it’s over , done , finished , no turning back , terminal . Karl really should put a warning label on the top of the page. Sorry Eric you might as well order one these from @Vinylguy and join the rest of us !

6 pointsAnother chapter in the Clyde story today and you all get to take part. The rear end on Clyde is a little noisy. A couple of you on here think that it is bearings. I sure hope that we are lucky and that is what it turns out to be. However, one of my buddies located a complete 953 differential and I had the opportunity to buy it for dad for Christmas. He knows nothing about it although I had mentioned that he should buy it when I first found out that it was available for purchase. If nothing is wrong with his, it can’t hurt to have a spare—especially since his 953 is a plow mule. We are celebrating Christmas at their house today and I’ll be sure to capture the moment in pics and video! Stay tuned...only a gear head could like a differential for Christmas.

5 pointsWe could be doing worst things than buying more 's. My little lady is a keeper because she actually helps feed my addiction. Life is grand
-
5 pointsNo known cure! Every time I thin the “herd” I find another one I just gotta have. My max at one time was about 15 machines. One year I decided to reduce my collection to 4....got down to 6 and could never get below that 🤔.

5 pointsYes I did! As you said, the starting is much better. I made a simple "L"bracket bolted to the frame to keep it low and tied it to the lighting circuit so it will turn on and off with the key. This spring I plan to clean it up and paint it, for now it has become a part of my snow team.

4 pointsI really like @wallfish ‘s prescription. i will say that a life changing event like professional job relocation can put the disease into remission. But if your pretty certain your your situation is stable, why fight it....just follow Wallfish’s plan:-)

4 pointsDad opened his gift and seemed to like it although I do believe he was even more excited about the “Horses” book but was thankful for both. We will arrange a date to sit down and watch the DVD together. Zach was interested, as always, in all things tractor related! It was an awesome relaxing and enjoyable time together with the family. Jim/Steve—we made need some help or advice on the disassembly/reassembly for the rear end. We need to get that thing all ready to go for the big plow day/tractor show in Plainfield. There was an older gentleman (owns a Speedex) at Berlin that was practically begging dad to bring Clyde up to Plainfield. Can’t wait...

4 pointsNothing short of death by natural.........or unnatural causes. Yeah........the site name could be: Wheel Horse Fanatics Enablers They would have to show documented proof of being a legal souse or common law significant other to be certified for membership.

-
4 pointsGreat job Richard I would get a twin if it was in the price range you got. Even though I really don't need one. You deserve that for all the help you give here. I love working on a new old horse like you do. That makes a merry Christmas for you.

4 pointsWell, until I got into Wheel Horse, this is how I cleared my 1/4 mile driveway and the circle between the house, the barn, and my Horse shed. I must say it's a lot easier with the equipment
-
4 pointsSorry to keep you guys guessing without any new clues, but I promised to take Mrs. K out for dinner. I just got back ready to give you a couple clues, but I think we already have a winner. The wagon chain brake was used to provide wheel traction when descending a hill with a heavily loaded horse drawn wagon. One or both rear wheels were locked with a chain and this chain was wrapped around the rim at the bottom to provide the traction. Thanks to everyone for your entries , but Jay Paxton @JPWH gets the attaboy. WTG Jay. This particular chain belonged to Mrs.Ks Grandfather Charles Sheffer. He was a farmer that only used mules for pulling. WINNER WINNER WINNER

4 pointsI'm sure Emory is gonna be overwhelmed with his new "toy"! He'll never forget helping you transform "Roadrunner" into the beautiful machine it is. One part of that memory will be the day you two picked out at the auction. Great job!!!!

4 pointsI’m sure he’ll be excited now but as he gets older, I think that he’ll really begin to understand the labor of love that you put into that machine for him. What’s also cool about this specific gift is that fact that he has taken the journey with you. There are so many lessons that a young mind can learn: tenacity, constancy of purpose, determination, thoroughness, the list could go on. It does something for a youngster to see their parent start a project and not only finish it, but finish it with excellence! Again I say “Well done!” A quote from Proverbs that I love to insert after any complete tractor resto is, “the desire accomplished is sweet to the soul!”
-
4 pointsI'll post some pics of it on Christmas morning when he gets it. I've got him some other wheel horse goodies for then too. I'll try to get a video too. Thanks for all of the compliments. I hope Emory is excited as I am!
-
4 pointsWOW! THAT WAS TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT! Excellent work @dells68 and so worth the effort for your favorite little guy in the whole world. I can’t wait to see the video of his reaction when he realizes it is for him!
-

3 pointsWell if there is a cure I don't want it! Like most of us here it really is an addiction we happen to love. Once you get a tractor for each attachment then you will need to search for signage and memorabilia. At least that's what happens to some people 😳😜
-
3 points@ebinmaine There is no cure . Possible ways to reduce comments or "the stare" from She Who Must be Obeyed 1. Magic shed like AMC Rules 2. Large storage shed with dark corners 3.Large Tarp to cover recent purchases. 4. Store in friends shed or garage. 5. Purchase one for your honey and include set of tools . Give to her on a special occasion. Then Run for the hills.

3 pointsYeah, Pfred nailed it. if you took it apart at all and got this thing upsidedown, it'll do that to you. Four bolts, flip it around, and it'll work correctly again.
