8 pointsThat's for installing/removing the detent balls & spring for the shift rails. Supposed to be a welsh type plug in there. Covered by the frame but I just fill it with a dab of silicone just to keep dirt & water out. Get a decent boot for that shift lever too...goes a long way in keeping crap out. @wheelhorseman has them in the vendor section.

5 pointsHi all, So I've been a way for a while, however, I've been very busy! i got fed up with that bloody Tecumseh! carb issues, governor issues etc. so I've got a new engine, a great lesson in mig welding first decent amount I've had to to). here's a short video, see if you can guess what it might be all the best! 5 pointsCovers can be bought for the fuel pump hole, but I would be inclined to put a loop of hose from out to in and leaver it unless it gives a problem.

4 pointsBe careful accepting a direct deposit until you've agreed on the amount. One the deposit clears your account they can claim the account settled and you might not even know what they were offering/sending you.

3 pointsThat is not what their casting dates usually look like. They should look like K11%0 which would equate to September 11, 1960. Those numbers are certainly in the right place though. If that is a casting date, it would have to be 63 and I think Oliver (Jim) is right. Maybe to produce some spare castings again for replacements...probably because the Hooby-Doobies were breaking off where the side plate bolts go.

3 pointsAlthough GhostRider is a working tractor I still like to have him looking good while doing it. The one major ugly thing was the rusty brown muffler. So, I decided to paint one up for him, dads 953, and Blackbeard at the same time. I used the ultra high heat paint and then followed the break in instructions which included lots of idling! Since I had the big "work" horses together--I took some pics... Gotta love those "Big Wheels" My little photo bombs! (I love these guys!!!) Next up for GhostRider is to get those rear wheels painted. The off white doesn't work well with the rest of the paint scheme! Once I have that done, I want to fabricate a heavier hitch assembly, install some more chrome fasteners here and there for accents and this dude is ready to go!

3 pointsYou need to double flair the tubing to prevent loosening, compression rings won't do. Loop coils will reduce the likelihood of copper work hardening, and yes; they do look KOOL!

2 pointsThese are two barn finds from a friend. A 68 Super 12 and a 70 Suburban 12. I went thru the fuel systems and did a quick clean up to get them running. I tentatively have one sold already and still trying to sell the 70. I'd keep the 68 but again no room. I also got a 2135 Cub Cadet that needs a deck and tires otherwise pretty nice shape. All were under roof the whole time.

2 pointsWell sometimes things which seem to be going so poorly work out for the best. The merry go round of projects landed on the GT16 again and I tore the transaxle down. First I tackled cutting some gaskets: Then i pulled the pump and hydro gear free of transaxle. I was slightly surprised that the slippers showed a few scratches already after on a couple minutes function test. As as I broke the Transaxle apart, everything still looked good but I did see some small metal debris. So seemingly on the right track for the slight marring of slippers but no smoking gun. I pulled the axle assembly. All good. That other gear and still nothing. Then the last one and viola! The smoking gun. So in the end, I'm guess I'm glad the transaxle gasket was leaking as the metal that was in there would surely have shredded the pump. So I'll re-polish the slippers and order up some bearings and a seal for the parking pawl. Needless to say, this one Wont get done this weekend.

2 pointsWe finally received the accident report last Friday and had to send a copy to the ins company on Monday because they had no record of receiving it. After receiving the report they did admit that they were responsible for our damages but would not ok to proceed with repairs. That had to come from the estimating department after the claims department forwarded them for review. Wednesday claims department still had not forwarded info to estimating. They said they needed three estimates one for each tractor along with the 864.00 for the trailer I finally was able to get written. After I lost my cool and regained it I informed them that I would be glad to with an additional cost of 5 hours travel time, a days pay, + expenses. Then they said wait and see what estimating had to say before I went to all that trouble. My wife called today and they wanted an account number for a direct deposit.

2 pointsMore progress today. Engine cleaned, valve work, painted and set back on the frame. Reattached the serial plate with pop rivets. Hood did not turn out as well as it should have. I think I got sand on it yet. I blowed it off and tapped it, but still, going to have to start over on it. Down the road I will be looking for a round cornered rear discharge deck. Mine is shot. Rusted out bad. Hard to put patches on patches. There are more shows this summer yet. The Portland Ind. (Tri State) show has lots of stuff but I quit going. It has gotten to big for me.

2 pointsThanks WHX. I havent had it a yr yet. I paid 1,100 for it and never had a lawn before so never owned lawn equiptment. Lol. Learning as i go so rest assured.. I will get her in tip top shape in due time. Minor issues like this don't hold her down. Lol.

2 pointsLook's like you have the Pressed Steel with Captive Bearings. Older versions were Cast Iron with replaceable Bearings like this- You will probably be wise to replace both, in which case you'll need examples in this -LINK- Regards

2 pointsUnfortunately sudden occurrences happen every day. At work we had a Ford go down simply because the neg battery cable connection went bad at the frame. It worked the day before and was working right up to the point where it malfunctioned. So, suddenly broke or suddenly had a improper connection does happen in todays world.

2 pointsThats a nice size one right there. Did your buddy have to scrub the musk off his hands afterwards. I had to rinse my hands in a pond afterwards. I think the snake had a cigarette after it was done. I was told they are a farmers best friend because of rodent control.

2 pointsYea, I have one almost that big that slithers into my workshop occasionally. I've been trying to trap it, but no luck so far. I know they are supposed to control mice and voles, but I wish they'd stay outdoors. If I catch it, I'm going to have to 'eliminate' it. It creeps me out when I work out in my shop in the evening. 2 pointsCarb kits are easy to find and not expensive. Most kits have a replacement float valve/seat and new gaskets. Clean everything else. They do not come with a mounting gasket. Best to buy one as any air leak will effect the carb operation.
