9 pointsHi everyone. I've been a little delayed getting my updated pics to you. Took these pics about a week ago. I will include pics of how the tractor was when I retrieved it, as well. I read a post from someone who named their tractors after the original owners, or the previous if the original was unknown. I would like to introduce everyone to Edward (original owner) . Funny what a good power wash and replacing tires can do. Picked up a blade a week ago, so have to get the bracket painted and mounted.

5 pointsHey Fred here's something you may or may not know . If you want to mention someone's name in a post and you want them to see the post use the " @ " in front of the users name . The name will turn blue an a notification will be sent to the person you've mentioned . Like this @Big_Red_Fred . Did you receive a notification ? You should have gotten three , one for a "like" another for someone " commented " and the third should be "mentioned you" on your post . Just a useful tool to use .

4 pointsWhoever suggested that my power issue was due to a broken accelerator spring, you were right on! Thank heavens for all the suggestions I got for where to source parts, too. I am into my repair and found the spring broken and the valve seat sleeve badly chewed up. I can order a replacement sleeve from Jacks Small Engine (done) and will have this fixed up in a jiffy.

4 pointsI have been updating my work on my 310-8 on "What have you done to your today " but thought this needed a separate thread. Plan on putting 8 inch rims on the front and had set of rims with mounted tires . One tire was flat so finally figured out it had bad cracks in the side walls. Had another set of tires that I had gotten a year ago. Removed first tire from rim and mounted new tire. No problem piece of cake. The second tire had a tube so here I go. Broke seal and flipped rim over to break seal so I could remove tube. Only took a 1/2 hour to break seal . Flipped rim over and started pulling out tube. I got a 3rd of tube out and realized I had some of kind of C - - - all over my hands and tube. My guess is a PO had a flat and pickup his can of Fix A Flat or one of the other products on the market. Well it did not work so a tube was installed without cleaning the tire or rim. The tube was basically glued to the tire and rim. I fought with the tube for an 30 minutes without any success. My redneck background hit high gear , grabbed the Saw all and inserted new blade. 15 minutes later got the bead cut thru on one side flipped rim over and started with a new blade finally after 30 minutes I finally got the tire and tube off the rim. No harm was done to rim during this adventure. Would have taken pictures but there was too much sweat dripping in my eyes. I had the A/C running in the shed the whole time. Tomorrow I will clean the rim both the fix a flat c- - - and the rust that it created. Life is grand when you are having fun and getting cranky.

4 pointsWell , here you go Fellow Nuts LOL, i drove to above Pittsburg Pa, Thought i was in the Deliverance Movie, dirt road to a line of old homes on the side of a mountain, my Butt was hurting hahahaha, he said a 1 room school owned it, after the school closed the district stored it for 30 years, this Man acquired it, then he needed cash, said theres no work up there, He was eyeing me up like dinner, Hmmm, maybe he didnt eat Big Red Fred cuz the Ruger SR 1911 was bulging off my hip , you know us Old Soldiers go prepared ! Its all there, Flat tire right front, all tires dry rotted, wheel weights, 953 & all you other owners, i need help on this one, Heres sum pics, Wheres the Model number at ?

4 pointsHi, Like I said in your other post wanting C121 Pics, If you need any help drop me a PM. If you have no luck finding Mike Hitchins, or can't obtain what you need. I make parts for my own (Kohler) Carburetors like Throttle Shafts, Plates, Screws and Shaft Bushes. I also have a spare genuine Kohler Repair Kit and Carb Gaskets, which, I see from your pic that you will probably need due to someone using Hylomar blue jointing on it. If possible, can you post the number on the Flange of your Carb, as located in this image ?- If you go down the China Cheap replacement route, I will buy your old one off you. Regards

4 pointsYou can take the top off of the carb,...but BE CAREFUL not to drop tiny parts into the throat. FIRST.... clean off al the dirt and crud from the outside surfaces. Take a pic or two of how the linkage goes toegether. Here is the NEEDLE VALVE....it is kinda hidden,so take extra care. Once the top is off, use your carb cleaner and a tiny brush to clean out the float chamber, both sides.

4 pointsAlright, just an update in case anyone else is looking for these light housings. Like I said before, I have been searching for one of these for about a year. I have been searching for a wheelhorse specific part. I ended up looking on the side of the one that I did have and it is made by dietz. Light number 107. So I started to search for one of those. I found one in Texas from a "light guy". $24 sent to the house. It fit perfectly but here is the only difference. It was made with a cut out in it for a license plate light and takes a slightly different bulb. I just painted the clear plastic silver and otherwise you can't tell a difference. It fits the hole in the grill and the wheel horse lenses snap right onto it. It will work good and get us to our local tractor show this weekend with a complete tractor!

3 pointsI have ran chains with ags for years - yes , it's an asphalt killer if you're running heavy or hard on the hydro or clutch , but in everything else they bite like mad . I ran them on the 16 Auto again the other day mowing , even doing it's tightest turns it does not tear up the turf . Not sure where that comes from , but I have yet to see a mark in the grass from running chains year round . There are a couple of hilly spots here and the chains are a must , if you spin turfs or ags you will tear up the ground - mine never spin running either ags or turfs with the 2-link straight chains . Even with the big D180 , no damage to the lawn . The old asphalt driveway is falling apart so it doesn't matter on that and I have left marks on the repaved streets here , but they go away on the first really hot day when the oils melt from the heat in the summer . Now , on seal coated drives , chains will tear up that coating quickly - so keep that in mind . As to the chains falling into the V-pattern and not doing any good - I have yet to see that happen . Working construction I've been around a lot of equipment running chains on ag type tires and others - the chains span across the tread pattern no matter what it looks like , so to me that's an old wive's tale or whatever you want to call it . Now , a 4-link spacing chain set may fall into the tire tread easier , not sure on that one , but 2-link spacing works great although out on a paved street it can ride pretty rough . The 1277 - 50lb rear weights , front wheel weights , all four tires loaded full of RV antifreeze - it doesn't spin , ever . Right now, need to fix the transmission plate - I exceeded it's strength moving 30 tons of gravel one day leveling a buddy's driveway . 2nd time that plate has broken and it's getting replaced/modified with a heavier one and better bracing . D180 , or as I call it - Big Ugly 50lb cast rear weights - the tractors natural weight is plenty - it will move whatever I ask of it so far and I have had it spin the wheels a bit in mud/dirt pushing heavy logs into a burn pile , but that really calls for bigger equipment . I use this thing a lot to pull the yard trailer around and never once has it damaged the turf . I say go for it if you don't have a seal coated drive - you'll love the level of traction . Sarge

3 points@DarrellF to I think your idea of an external cooler for oils on our Wheel Horse tractors is a very good idea! 40 years ago, my grandpa was going to be pulling a travel trailer so he wanted an additional transmission oil cooler added to his truck. He decided that the local garage could install it quicker/better than he could so he took it to them. As they were mounting the auxiliary trans cooler, they drilled right through his radiator! He said, "I could have done that"! I guess the moral of the story is......."Be careful"!

3 pointsYeah, this humidity is kickin' my butt! I had one rag out yesterday to clean parts and another to wipe my face every 5 minutes so I could see. It's high even for Georgia. When the rain came, we were doused for 30 minutes. The 'resort to sawzall technique' explains why dynamite and fishing go together. I never had the patience to fish. just can't buy dynamite at the local Ace anymore.

2 pointsHello all, I am from the Mill Hall,Pa area.Been reading forums for a few days and like the friendliness of the people here and all the good info.I have had a wheel horse 210-5 mower with a 36 inch deck for years and like it but needed an upgrade. Looked at a 414-8 with a "I think" a 44 inch rear discharge deck. Man, what a difference; great machine and a pleasure to mow.Will try to get pictures,but too hot out for a 72 year old guy for now. 2 pointsThe original sprocket and part of the tubular shaft, both too large in diameter, were cut from the clutch housing. This was extended with a correct length and diameter replacement which was a VERY tight push in fit. For push in I should say helped with a hammer. This was drilled for a roll pin as was the replacement sprocket. Although the other end looked like it would never move this was also drilled and pinned while I was at it. The gearbox sprocket was not in line with it's big brother on the axle. It needed to be moved inwards about 1/4". A slice was carefully cut off with a thin cutting disc in my Dremel, held as steady as possible as these discs break almost by looking at them. I got almost all the way through before the disc mounting shaft bottomed out. The last bit was done from the opposite side. No photo's of this operation but before and after shots with the sprocket back on the gearbox. The section cut off, first photo, now moved to the outside.

2 pointsHere is one I built a few years ago. I cut a 5' road grader blade down to 4'. The pivot pin is a 7/8" king pin from a Ford truck. The frame is 2" channel with a short piece of 4" channel between. A 2"x2"x1/4" angle attaches to the blade.

2 pointsI got a cheap one on eBay for my Onan. It works OK...... but noisy. Remember ... there's more to the starter circuit than just the starter. There's also a solenoid on the frame. Poor battery connection. And it could be a dirty starter drive.

2 pointsThe best I can tell they were some sort of vintage trailer lights. It was painted black so I had to paint it but easy to make it work. Guess it would be good to mention that it was a two wire light and the factory wheel horse light was a one wire light so I just had to ground it.

2 points@squonk Only a squonk would mention a torch on a story about rubber tires. Insurance adjuster : Can you tell me exactly what happened so we can honor your claim. Bubba ; Me and my buddy have a few beers and we couldn't get a tire off a rim. We tried a torch. It was doing fine until we couldn't see for the black smoke next thing was the fire department was late getting here.

2 pointsRebuild kits generally only include bowl gasket, splash shield, and float valve. They are all pretty much all the same. To do a complete rebuild, you must remove and clean the main and idle jet screws, and clean all the ports, orifices and body of the carb. Soak it over night in lacquer thinner. The main jet needle valve has multiple tiny holes in it. It is hollow, so be sure all those holes are clean, and air can pass through the tube and out all the holes. Also, check to be sure that you don't have a lot of play in the throttle shaft. Too much play can allow air to be sucked in, causing an erratic lean condition. Good luck.
