15 pointsHey Jeff @ACman... I found your next mower... Might have to take out a fifth mortgage for it tho! 37 HP, fuel injected
-
9 pointsIt's official...Winter is over in SC Pa. You can quote me on that Jim @WHX9. So, today I cleaned up the winter remains left by PennDOT. Then took the blade off the 312 and put on the Mad Max the tiller. Then loaded the 520 snow chucker and took him to the winter storage barn. While there, I loaded two mowers, the C-120 and the Raider 12, and brought them home for summer duty.

7 pointsI must say that I am a bit concerned those bearings on the yard roller may not be up to the task as they are so undersize The lights are just 8 dollar LED that I picked up at Rural King. The Plexi lens cover is some quarter inch that i had lying about

Forecast is better for the weekend tho so hopefully channel 27 is right! Must be warm out there Ed ...on the eagle channel I saw flies bothering the eagle food. No sign of spring like that here yet save for the occasional lost robin!

4 pointsA very nice B80 indeed. It has a nice original looking patina that I would hate to see disturbed when it is in such nice condition. As for the flames, at this point I think I would leave them because they represent the entire history of the tractor's journey through its ownership and personal touches of previous owners. They all tell part of the story of this tractor's past, or, this might just be a lot of hokum. Either way, the flames have grown on me. If I had the money I would offer to buy the hood and fender pan so I could put them on another unit in the future. Looking forward to see how it turns out after your revisions.

3 pointsHave made a few posts alluding to rebuilding an ARK 500 Loader, and installing it on a 520H that has now changed with Obtaining a 522XI. Thanks to a few members here for leading me down the path of Righteousness Sake! The power steering was the BIG SELLING POINT. Lately I have been procuring the parts necessary for the project and everything hasn't went smoothly. The rear tires for example not matching the width specifications. The ARK 500 Series Loader I have came off of a GT14. This means that I will have to fabricate a undercarriage and adapt it to this Tractor. The loader will be disassembled, have all Welds gone over and Re-Welded, All Cylinders Rebuilt, Control Valve Rebuilt, All hoses replaced. Repainted Black with New Decals. All Rims Powdercoated White, New Tri ribbed front tires, New Rear Aggs, Rear Weight Box. Rear Wheel Weights, Tonight I took pictures of loader and labeled the hoses on pictures. As I take the hoses off I will number them and take them to my Hydraulic Hose doode to have him make them. Here are some Pics Of Tractor Loader and Hose Labeling Ill have more questions I need answered below. ~Duke I'm reading tonight I see that DON C is rebuilding his 550 Loader does anyone have Info on the O-RINGS and seals needed for the ARK 500? I Also need some good information on the Hydraulic Pump Mounting on the 522XI. Maybe a Kwick Way Manual Ect, may help me? Also maybe find a Kwick way Hyd Pump and mounting bracket may help, what do you all think about that. Any Thoughts on that part? Thanks ~Duke

3 pointsI came across this B-80 on CL with the intentions of making it my wifes/daughters/dogs tractor so they wont be asking me to use mine. It will probably replace my 265-6 or JD. The guy was asking 350 and " it ran when he parked it". I offered him 200 but didnt think he would take it. Well he did so this the second time I got a surprise. Im sure its nothing serious but its got to be worth that in parts anyways. The flames have to go though. I h.ope they appreciate this.

3 pointsI'm on my way to the fun part of my journey. Got the frame almost back on wheels. Disregard the wheels in pics. They will be the last of my project. Getting to this point is the best right now. At least i can move it in and out of my little work area easy on wheels.

3 pointsThere are no freeze plugs in any of the Wheel Horse manual transmissions. What you are referring to as a freeze plug is a capped, needle bearing which in your case (no pun intended) would be on either end of the 11/44 toothed gear, one end of the cluster gear shaft, or one end of the input, splined shaft. In any case, if that bearing has been compromised, you will need to open the case to replace it. You do not need to open the case to replace any of the seals. The 1st picture shows a transmission case with no bearings in it... These are the bearings that go in this particular trans... I know this looks like freeze plugs, but these are cap, needle bearings. One other possibility that you may be talking about, is the little 1/4" hole that is used to place the detente balls and spring for the shift mechanism. A dab of grease of silicone calk will take care of that. Just a dab...don't fill it.

3 pointsI have 523dxi with a Kwik Way loader. If you need any info just let me know - The pump mounts in a mule drive and is driven off the pto.I can get you dimensions if you want to build your own.

2 pointsMy yard was unusually lumpy and in addition, some moles cut a streak through at several places. I have never had a mole do this until July or so and they usually leave very quickly.. Maybe I will have to trap them this year.I was also surprised how long the grass was in places. So I put the little beast in high range first gear and it mowed and pulled the roller without much effort Nice to hear the 241 Kohler purring along once again. I just finished installing the headlights properly behind a nice thick sheet if Plexiglas and they look pretty good So OK guys, time to post when you first unleash the mighty herd upon your yard

2 pointsI think I have it now and thank everyone for the help. I'll let you know how I make out. I got a snow storm to get through first unfortunately.
-
2 pointsYes it is, don't know how I missed it while pulling my hair out with my own recoil issues. Wonder why @ACman's pics all disappeared? Something to do with not being a SUPORTER you suppose?
-
2 pointsMine was made by Original, but has nothing other than the small combination Model, Serial and Manufacturers tag inside the rear window.
-
2 pointsM250, Dennis Bought it from Classic Comfort in Greenville from. Dave Kruckeberg. He stocks the mowers, but I have not seen that Hogan's heroes German Half Track model [yet]

2 pointsYes sir I know you can, 22hp diesel 4wd FEL, 60"MMM, and 62" front snow/dozer blade, with enough left over to get a rear blade to boot, well I got everything but the F/RR blades for under$15k, Jeff.
-
2 pointsI have to say Ohiofarmer, that in the middle of March...your yard is just disgusting. Where is the white stuff?? Don't tell me that it is time to take off the blade and put the mower on already. I am not ready to take the horse out and just keep turning left yet.

2 pointsHere is a parts list for one of the transmissions used in the 400-Series. The Woodruff key is a #22 and the Toro number is 937108. It is listed as 1/4" x 1-3/8 but it will be shorter than that. The sizes listed are for the size of the cutter that cuts the groove. It should be 1.362" long. If you go to look an axle key up they are with the tires and wheels and hubs of the tractor parts lists. Garry
-
2 pointsThe tires were nearly permanently bonded to the rims. It appears the tires had never been removed since '66. I ended up soaking the beads in WD-40 (which is NOT a lubricant like many people think) for 2 hours then balanced the rims on a quart paint can and used big clamps to pull the tires way down and expose the beads. Then just pried the bead away from the rim with a big screwdriver. All good now but a total SOB.

2 pointsI know...I know ! It's been one crazy week and I mean crazzzzy ! I'll get it done soon .

2 pointsBelieve me... I thought about that long ago ! I bet it's great on hillsides , going up hills and soft ground with that footprint . The thing that comes to mind is how bad it will tear up the grass on the turns . I've driven almost every configuration that's out there before my accident and not one of them doesn't leave their mark on a quick turnaround . I'd like to see the HOLE that one leaves with 37 very thirsty horses on top of it . Don't get me wrong it's one looking mower and would love to try it...But like you said not to pay for it ! I've been trying to reply since you first posted but for some reason it wouldn't go through till now .
-
2 pointsBearings may be a bit undersized, just keep them greased so they don't overheat.

2 pointsHere's the 2 gardens at home waiting to get the goat manure worked in. Front is for veggies, back is for potatoes. We are going to plant carrots and beets at her grandparents since they don't use their gardens anymore
-
2 pointsI feel your pain,we get several ice storms a year up here,i went away to Europe last year and came home to total carnage, still not done cleaning up
-
2 pointsa hydrolic filter has no by pass valve like an engine filter does,if the filter gets plugged to a certain point the bypass opens and lets all the crap into the clean reservoir, then inside the pump which will destroy it ver y quickly,if you had run it I dought much crap would be let into the reservoir as its all new oil and new filter, but you caught it and all is good
-
2 pointsJDelfman has a young man waiting more anxiously for this to be finished probably more than any of us.
-
2 pointsThanks for the info so far very helpful, and 953nut thanks for posting that very cool brochure, I saved it. I do believe it is side discharge and I hope to get it tomorrow if the weather holds. Expecting another Nor'easter here in NH Friday into Saturday. Hope it just scoots on by. I'm tired of moving snow. If it is a one piece spindle what could I expect to pay for a replacement if anyone knows?
-
2 pointsSorry for getting on to this late. I have been meaning to comment on this all week. There is a fourth version and that was engineered by Toro for the 5xi series, the #78395. Besides the required change in attachment points, Toro engineered in a small wheel that drops down to assist in moving the deck sideways to attach/detach the deck. This and turning the front gage wheels sideways makes moving (not lifting!) this deck easier than the 52" and 48" decks.
-
2 pointsThat is a beautiful B-80 you have there. Members here will be glad to help you out with any questions or problems you may have. to Jim

2 pointsI use nothing but rattle cans Jim. I use a brand called Tallman's Agricultural Paint. It is formulated just for main brand tractor manufacturers and with a little effort, it gives off a great finish. It's not sold in stores everywhere and is only available online or through certain distributorships. It goes on very nice and smooth, and is only $4.58 a can. As soon as I can upload more pictures, I'll show you some of my results, and will let you guys judge for yourselves. I'm not perfect by any means, and my finishes may not be quite as nice or as expensive as some out there, however I do the best I can and I'm very happy with my results.
