Gave bendy a workout today, got bogged to the axles a few times and if it wasn't for lots of lock to lock on the steering it wouldn't have made the slope. Gave me a good excuse to hose her down

Every January I make my Big Show res. for the Comfort Inn Chambersburg. I use the website and have had no issues. I have enjoyed my stay there the last 2 years. So last week I make my reservation. Somehow I got put on some kind of special savings plan program, SAPR2. I didn't realize this. I go to pay my monthly credit card bill and I see it's higher than expected. I check into it and the hotel room is on there. Every other year I get billed after I stay there. I call the Hotel and he says that's a requirement to be on this plan. Payment is up front. Ok so the room is paid for now, not really a problem. But here's the problem. The room is NON-REFUNDABLE! If for some reason I cannot go I am screwed! I have the time off from work already scheduled, but I have been trying to change jobs for over a year now and if I do get something I have to ask for time off right away and that usually doesn't set to well with a new employer. Bottom line if making resi's over the internets, Check everything carefully, look for check boxes ect. before hitting that submit button.

I was 11 years old during The Blizzard of 77 . I remember being able to walk up snowdrifts onto the top of my childhood home & to be eye level with the streetlights . My father worked for Bethlehem Steel & didn't come home for 7 days . 29 souls perished in this blizzard . A sobering reminder of Mother Nature's power :

Scored a C-141 with 2 mower decks, a tiller and a lawn vac. Tractor runs but smokes so it is in for a rebuild.

As you can see, I don't need much of a reason to take the RJ for a spin!

I went right to the hotel website which I have done every other year. Still don't know how I got enrolled in some plan. As long as nothing happens between now and June all is well. You just never know. I kind of doubt anything will change on the job front. I've been up for 2 jobs and a third is pending. I have a "Great resume " and more experience than the folks that have been beating me out for positions, but I'm afraid being 5-10 yrs from retirement age has got something to do with me not getting picked.

I built this paint booth for about $100.00 Used material I had laying around. Lumber, bed frame, paint screen,shower curtain, velcro, casters, foam insulation, etc. All I bought was the range hood, venting, and lights. It's 3' by 3' close to 6' total height. Uses a furnace filter to filter incoming air when closed up with fan running. I made a insulated panel that fits into the sliding door and has vent door installed. With this setup I can paint any time of year. Very little fumage too. The clear shower curtain seals shut with velcro. I use various methods to hang the parts to be painted. I used it to paint the wheels on the 68 Charger. Worked great!

So I recently made a post called new to me 1960 suburban 400. I had cleaned the I'd plate and the serial number read as 42388 atleast it appeared. Well I was sitting on the tractor yesterday the light got the I'd plate enough to were it made me question the last digit in the serial number. So I took it off and did some more cleaning and pulled a little magnification device out that my grandad had always had in his toolbox. Never understood why but it worked great for me today. So the update to that serial number is 42383. Please check out photos and let me know what ya think. I'd like to make sure the list on here has the proper number.

Joe, you have a couple things going on. Can you put a picture of the top of your piston, now that you have the head off. If it kind of looks like this...that clean area from 12 to 4 o'clock shows oil blow by, and you need to rebuild the engine first. That is the blue smoke...does not matter if it start up or under load. The other thing you have going on, is the governor. Your engine is never going to run under load if that cross shaft is not locked with that lock nut. If it still turns when that net is tight, it is not doing what it is supposed to do. Rebuild the engine first (I just tore down my K181 on my 876...taking it to the machine shop Monday). When you get it back, let's put it back together. Check out Mike Prondzy's thread in the "Reference" Section/Engines...K181 rebuild. The manual, if you do not have it, is in the manual section under engines. Check out the manual and read it...everything you want to know...and we are here to walk you through it. I hope you know that you can not just change the rings and put it back together, you need good measurements and either bored and/or cross hatching. Checking the valves, tolerances, etc. It is not a huge project, but you are just wasting your money if you do not do it right. I used a ratchet strap to hold the fly wheel to get the castle nut loose, and then to use the puller to get the fly wheel off. I did not take the engine off the horse until I got all the pulling stuff off the engine.

My 1996 416-H, with an Onan P-216 has 1600 hours on it. Other then puffing a small amount of smoke on startup, the engine is strong. I too am a fan of Kohler, but love the sound of the Onan twin. As far as things with the name Toro, I must say that if not for Toro, Wheel Horse may have become MTD . At least Toro kept the Wheel Horse name for a couple decades, and still maintain a stock of some parts for us.

If you need any references, Mike, I would be willing to testify that SQUONKS don't really smell bad.

A slight in and out movement is normal, up & down is not. Up and down (or side to side) would indicate a bad bearing which is not common on the brake shaft. The seal is simple to replace and does not require opening up the case. A seal should be available at your local Toro dealer or Napa auto parts store. There are many threads here on RedSqure that will help you understand how to do it. I recommend a seal from your local Napa auto parts store SKF 7410 or CR7410. I find them to be better made than the Toro part 100441. Here is the link to the seal/bearing cross reference page. Use #3 in the list for your transmission which is probably a 5091 or 103907.

Here are some quick pics I grabbed of my custom Autism Horse I am building up. To cold to to many of the projects, but I did take the hood and fender pan in the house, buffed them out and installed the decals that Vinylguy donated to the cause. I managed to get the big hood decal on with only a couple minor wrinkles. I am pleased and I have more decals on order from other sources to add to the tractor. I need to wire up the strobe beacon to the lights, find me a single original style(good used) red front wheel cap and pick up a new shifter boot. Debating on putting the embossed hub caps on or not. Not in the budget for awhile anyways. I will repaint the muffler with heat proof silver paint. Look for a full story and how being on the spectrum affects my life and what garden tractors, along with my trains, mean to me in Lawn & Garden Collector magazine in the future. Mike

That happened to me in 2015 when we stayed there. It saves a few bucks on the room but non-refundable. Good luck on the job search. I think most employers wouldn't have an issue with your plans as long as you were very upfront with them.

Like Bob said. I made a reservation at an Econolodge through Expedia recently and my card was charged two weeks before the stay. I stayed at six other hotels in the last two weeks without reservations and the deals I made in person with the hotels were all within a couple bucks of the early special deal with Expedia.

Wish you the best - I had back surgery in 1971 - they have come a long way since then - I think with modern medicine you will be fine - one thing - as with any surgery - KEEP MOVING - the more you keep active, the faster you will heal - I have had both hips replaced and can tell you that getting up and moving around will really shorten the recovery time...had the last one at 73 and didn't have any problems--modern medicine miracles!!..keep your chin up..

Found some old pics of my dad's tractors. Thought I would share a few. I think this one is possiblly a 704 or 854. He seems to remember owning a '64 model of some kind. Dad sold new Chevrolets and Buicks at the local dealer. That's a new '65 Impala in the drive and my mom's '62 Nova in the garage. This pic would be 1964-65. Oh, and that's me in the dump cart.

I agree I love old tools and when they were someone you new it's always cool to have them around. And for me my grandpa got me into wrenching on just about anything. So it's always fun when ya get to pull them out and share a story!

I agree also on it being a three . Always had a magnifying glass behind the parts counter . Someone would bring in a bearing , race , or seal and couldn't read anything , but with then my young eyes and the magnifying glass I could make out the numbers to cross reference . Same here it was grandpa's ...I didn't get that though. I did get his Starrett 0-1" micrometers even though I had a set of Swiss made Etalon ($$$) and a pair of Mitutoyo Digamatics , nothing can replace grandpa's antique Starrett's ! Old school tools rule.

I'd agree on the 3 too. That looks like a printers loupe there. Printing press operators use them.

That blade is for the long frame horses. It will fit your 310. You can tell because the blade frame bends to be parallel toward the back end (top in your picture). The short frame blades have the "A" frame.

Just so you know, a digital caliper is not a great way to measure. A cheap one should be used for a rough idea only. An automotive machine shop will use a dial bore gauge or telescope gauges and a good micrometer.. The Plasti-gage mentioned earlier, is a good final check.

Mike, you really have to be careful with reservations these days. I've stopped using services like Travelocity, Kayak, and Trivago for making the reservations. I only use them to find the best price, then go directly to the hotel website to finalize the deal. I find that I can usually get them to match any deal that I find. If the hotel tells me that I have to pay up front to get the deal, I tell them I will find another hotel. That usually changes things. I have never been billed until after the stay ends.

Rod Stewart is your son? I'm just kidding. My dad still has the dump cart. I think it's the same era, early sixties. Here is the 552. I think this was the first my dad bought. He discovered WH tractors when his boss, the Chevy dealer owner bought one. From his description I think it was an RJ from late 50s. It had a pull start. Dad went to the local dealer and bought one with a starter. The boss man was jealous so he went and traded tractors! Oh, that kid is me again. I was born in July of '63. So these pics would be probably within a year of that.
