Anybody else see the Wheel Horse Fire Engine for sale on ? Don't want to repost somebody else's pics here. It's near Pittsburgh PA

so this weekend a good friend and my next door neighbor of 30 years crashed his truck into a bridge and died instantly.as some may have read earlier we got hit hard by the ice storm last week,well then it warmed up and rained,making the roads and driveways a nightmare,probally the worst ive ever seen,my friend was coming home from work at 5 pm,turned onto a gravel road near us,sped up,hit someice on the road and swerved out of control and died hitting a concrete bridge.still in shock,he was a mechanic for large equipment and had a liking for the horses,he couldn't believe how many I have,and was allways amazed at what they could do,we deweeded his pond years ago with one and a drag harrow,and when id plow his drive he just shake his head and say I cant believe what those little tractors could do,he will be missed greatly.his wife will have to move,ill never get neighbors like them again,my wife and his wife are close so its real tough on my wife,you never know when its our time,so enjoy every day

Which gears is it? Is it the little pinion gear and fan gear or it's it the bevel gear and upper steering shaft gear? If not worn beyond shimming, then that is the usual preference. Also make sure your gears are clean from extreme combination of old grease and grime build up. I have seen those gears get so much crud impacted on the teeth that they walk right out of mating with each other. Putting grease on low rpm external gears like that, in dirty conditions is a recipe to attract dirt and crud that act as a multiplier in the wear factor. There is a grease zerk down there. That's to grease that shaft that runs through the cast steering block, that should be greased. I know you didn't ask about greasing. Sorry for the lecture. Let us know which gears are slipping and how bad. Pictures would also help. I have some experience with this and I know there are other on here with even more than me. We will get you squared away.

you can't remember where they are. Old age!!! There was a question in the implement section asking for some pictures of a tiller mounted. I know mine is.... but where is it. I know it isn't in the shop, but she is usually down in the barn so i went down to snap a couple of pictures . Turns out she wasn't there she is up in the storage shed (I hope) but that is to far to hike in the wet snow today...besides it is packed tight and getting a picture would be hard.

UPDATE got my decal kit from redoyourhorse.com in today and cant believe the quality and detail these decals have. Very very impressed with them. Now i need to buckle down and get the frame painted.

I had to get an MRI this morning about 45 minutes south of me. On the way back my dad wanted to stop by the tractor salvage yard we occasionally go to so he could get a small part for his lawnmower. While I was walking into the shop I noticed a nice set of 6-12 ags on wheels. When the owner said 50 bucks , I asked if he took credit card. Hard to find these used and in good condition. They will be for my Suburban project.

You are probably the only person on the site that can say that! We are all so eager to spend your money, but if you did't want to you probably wouldn't have posted it. The 1054 isn't a basket case, they just did some of the disassembly work for you. Looks like the fenders are straight and solid and having a 12 horse isn't a big deal; I like it.

Yeh, I saw that too. Someone did a lot of work to create it, probably for their kid. If I had a kid young enough, I'd consider buying it for them. Listing says it runs ok, and the price isn't too high. Maybe we will see someone's youngster riding it around at the big show. Jim

Got all of the seals replaced with the help of the guru himself @stevasaurus Apparently I have an oddball transmission, but the regular seals fit just fine. Sure appreciated your help Steve! It appears the fuel issue was the primer bulb itself. I guess it wasn't getting a good seal. The filter was never staying full with it inline. Removed it and smooth sailing. I bet I don't put a primer bulb in again. Maybe I just got a bad one, I dunno. But the Sleeper is all fixed up. Now onto the C-121, looks like all four seals may be shot on it......as well as the fuel line..... Thanks for everyone's input!!!

I am a bit tractor heavy and mower light. i found a mower deck that had the double d center pulley intact and that pulley would complete the 42 SD that I already have at less money than I have seen the pulley sell by itself. the seller had another 48 inch deck that would make a dandy for spare parts or a complete resto. I keep saying "no more tractors", but then there is the spare parts issue The tractor is a shot in the dark, but it has some decent sheet metal and if the Sunstrand works, it would be a cute tractor with a 6,5 Predator. .I plan to mount a pulley on a drill motor and turn the tranny pulley to see if the transmission will work I have never seen a 42SD like this one in that the drive line on the mower deck has many pulleys that twist and turn the belt. The mower is driven with a separate jackshaft at the front. I am sure that you experts will know what it is, but I am clueless as I just got it off the truck. The blade mounts all seem oK and have the pipe extension grease fittings. I used BG inForce penetrating oil on on the 50 year old fasteners to get to some things and WOW. It went in 6 threads deep within minutes. A forum member recommended it and i think the kroil is going to stay on the shelf.. Anyway, i got it all for 125.00. Cross your fingers on the transmission.

I picked this jewel up today. One owner low hrs. I will give it a good cleaning tomorrow.

Sold one of of my green lawn tractors and had enough left over after buying a model train I wanted, that I went out and bought this nice Commando 8, fully loaded with lights, cig lighter, nice rear discharge mower deck(not shown), original WH marked tires and a working slot hitch. He has the moldboard plow for it and he set it aside and I will pick it up once I have some more funds in my wallet. Its been awhile since I had a WH in the stable. I want to do some special autism touches to it. The paint and decals are super nice, except for the top of the hood and fender pan. I hate to loose the original decals and nice dealer decals in a full repaint. Thinking of having a decal made to cover the top of the hood in the autism rainbow jigsaw colors with "Autism Acceptance" in either yellow or white lettering in the middle of the top of the hood. Could you cut the snap ring groove twice as wide, so that the damaged area is cut away, and use two snap rings?

Jim, you will find what attachments go for your horse and the auto model by opening this link. You will find more in the Manuals Section "Misc"...like an attachment list through the years.

This wiring diagram is from the 1991 416-H. With the key turned on, check with your meter at the (A) accessory terminal of your ignition switch for 12V. If you have it there, move on the the light switch. If you don't have it there, the 15 amp fuse is probably blown or the fuse holder/connections are bad. However, if you don't have power at (A), and you have power at (B), your ignition switch is probably bad.

I have done this on a smaller scale using an empty 15" rim with a chain double wrapped around a small stump, run it over the rim and hook it to the , plucks them right up out of the ground!

Aldon I was thinking more on the year then the money. And yes I would post it if I didn't get it. This 702 ? Was never Advertised he mentioned he had another tractor in his basement and if I wanted it he would give me a package deal. I'll probably go and get it also. I'm a sucker for wheel horse's.

What about the seat? I don't think it is for this year. I only inquired because I'm buying the 1054 and it in peaces also. Guys I'm 68 years young and my C160 was a lot of work. A work of love but work non the less. Here is a pic of the basket case 1054

Not a bad problem to have... I rediscover stuff everyday, I forgot I ever had.

If you, or a friend or relative aren't intimidated by mechanical things then this is going to be easier than you think. We have lots of good knowledgeable members who can walk you through repairs that may be needed. As Glen said, post some pictures and a little more information about the thins that do and don't work well and we will go from there.

Always a work in progress to try and improve things.

I pulled a commercial grade aerator (Land Pride) with my C-120. Ag tires and wheel weights. Had 6 cinder blocks on the aerator. My buddy, who weighs 260, rode on top of the blocks. Pulled it with no problem even in the up direction of the sloping yard.

I will take another picture tomorrow but if the snap ring groove was widened there would hardly be any material left on the end of the shaft.

Bryce, You should find a 42" deck and most likely a K series Kohler engine.If all works and is clean for the price it seems a reasonable starting point.I don't know much about WHs before the c120 but in that time to the latest things that were done was to improve owner safety.Therefore you will have to deal with a number of safety interlocks such as pto interlocks.These improvements are not a bad thing but something else to deal with.Just check the wiring for hacking.JMHO,JAinVA

200 is fair price. heck the hoods alone can go up to 100 bucks so do the plows and decks 100 each depending condition. check engine for compression if it has compression it will run. if the crank free spins with no resistance then its blown up. still good buy either way

Job well done! My relief valve was a screamer as well. I had to hack saw the tamper proof cap off. It's a differ t machine toady! I found some photo of her performing some work around the place. It's brush cleanup time upstate. Just threw the saws up there to get my wife asking questions. It worked! A 5 X 10 trailer makes for a much better yard cart. The hitch was built by Scotty Moreaus friend Tom.

I think the check screw is like 6" below the vent. They do it to prevent any foaming overflow coming out the vent I think. this is the reservoir breather I'm going to buy. The vent that came on my loader looks just like a pipe plug. But it's actually drilled with a 1/8" hole to vent it. the nortrac breather has a filter element in it for extra protection.
