Just picked up this Raider 12 today. The engine runs like a new clock. Retirement is not in it's near future. My plans are to do a full resto then she will be my user tractor. May get some use before the resto to work any bugs out. The hydraulic lift is a real nice feature. I have never saw one of these hydraulic pumps before. Were these factory or an after market add on?

I was looking on cl for a new horse and found these. I don't know if they would work in snow without chains. Power Master Rim Guard 7000 23x8.50-12SS tires mounted on wheels. These are new take off tires and wheels. Wheels have a 5 on 4.5" hole pattern with 3-1/8 center hole. Load range C I have a ton of these so let me know how many you need! $50 each These might fit my C160 there in Central Michigan 2 hours from me. Does anyone plow with without chains with ags on. $50.00 EACH sounds like a good deal to me.

I just happened to notice this thread!!! (perhaps because I think I've check 3 or 4 times this evening!) but I was just trying to keep up with what was new, hard here on such an active forum, but even though it's bedtime I wondered what was up, read through and then wondered if I should post a comment. Yes this forum has been a great help to learning about my Wheel Horses and yes, there's info here and help here that couldn't be found anywhere else for any price! But crap! Anybody here for any time at all knows that! Yes I love to learn, but there's still something else here! I was touched by Karl's comments. I'm sure he's proud of what this forum has become but I'm equally sure that the aggravations have been intense at times for someone who cares so much. Mike, you impressed me early on and I was most pleased to meet you in person. It's very easy to understand how you have been an asset to this group! Then I began to wonder why I check in almost everyday, sometimes more often. Why do I look forward to what's going on here? I was around before computers, before the Internet but I've embrace technology and I've been on a lot of forums! No other forum (and certainly not FaceBook!) has captured my interest like this one! So my neighbor doesn't sell much (except to me) but I do sell tractor stuff and he has bought many tractors and attachments over the years from me. Being as we are both neighbors and friends I never try to profit from a sale to him......today that paid off with some good karma! He calls me over and says " See this Commando 8 with the deck and that tub trailer, I'll never do anything with it and sitting outside isn't doing it any good, and you always offer me great deals so they're yours for the taking....FREE!" She doesn't run yet but did run a couple years ago so with a bit of TLC and a carb cleaning there is no doubt in my mind I'll have it running soon. All 4 tires seem to hold air and they all say Wheel Horse on em 👍 ! Pics of course...... Mike....

Got them all ready today.

I got the brake controller in the truck and the tow/haul mode on the truck. It also has the tow package up to 9600lbs. That's the main reason why I was considering it because the truck was already equipped. When I have towed it I haven't really noticed it at all except when I am pulling in the Adirondack mountains but I haven't towed anywhere near max weight of the trailer with it. This truck pulls like a dream compared to my old Ram.

Recently, in the for sale section. A guy had a picture of a metal cab from his father's D series tractor. Looked really nice. He had that and a D series snowblower for sale. I think he was in Georgia, said he was keeping the big D, but didn't need the cab and snowblower down there. Glenn It's still for sale.

1963 only. The third digit (or last digit) is the year made, i.e 753 means it was made in 1963. The first digit is the hp, the second digit indicates electric start.

Maybe he ran the 3/8" rod up to the handle?

Let's give the PO the benefit of the doubt Glenn. I have used coat hangers many times to make templates to get the proper bends and lengths in levers and connecting rod linkages.

Definitely leaving the tractor with its hard earned patina. My paint skills are lousy and I think any attempt to paint it with these hands will just mess it up. I am thinking about going the Stevebo route and "oiling" it all up to stop any further rusting. I'll paint the rims, fronts for sure! Then a small stack like Bud Andrews was building/selling (is he still doing that?). The trailer is perfect on the outside and just needs some love on the inside....I'll tackle that paintwork. Amazing place for certian. Thank you all for making it happen. I'm not heavy into WH right now, but still sign on, and follow along, and offer input whenever I can. The people are second to none. Float is probably to blame, sometimes the float will take on gas and not float anymore, so the needle can't shut it off. Other times, its dirt that is the cause. Last one I bought ran fine till I ran it completely out of gas, them it dumped a bunch of crap out of the tank and into and line and carb. Ended up cleaning tank, new fuel line and filter and cleaning the carb. Randy

Just returned from hunting the last week of the Pa archery deer season in Cameron Co. Enjoyed the great weather, good food, and renewed friendships. I harvested this deer at 9AM Monday and spent the rest of the week shooting critters with my canon. Several were as close as 10 feet. Any other hunters, feel free to post your pictures.

Just picked up a complete 418-8. It sat for a couple years so it needs a little TLC, but it was free so I couldn't pass it up. It came with tire chains, a mower deck in need of repair and a set of rusty hubcaps. Just in time for a winter project!

This evening I mulched up leaves and clipped the tops off more wild onions on about an acre, I believe the hydro linkage needs adjusted its a bit "jerky" and to me doesn't reach "top" speed forward,and gas gauge is about 50/50 works but not accurate, battery light stays on, and oil temp gauge didn't seem to move after 45 minutes to an hour, all minor issues I suppose, this one mows in reverse without a key switch under the seat, cruise control works and that 60" deck does shorten up time spent vs my other 48" decks,Jeff.

Dennis- when I was reading up on the Sundstrand I had in a 16 auto that I was restoring-I came across an article that claimed they designed to handle up to 45hp. I will see if I can find it again-it didn't surprise me because if you compare the transmissions- the sundstrand even looks beefier-hose & fitting sizes, etc. Thanks- Al

It was 75F here last Monday when I took mine Jim. Luckily I belong to a hi tech camp that has electric and an old fridge. I arrowed him at 9AM and had him deboned and in the fridge by 1PM. Looking forward to see your camp pics.....GOOD LUCK...... Jay, if you keep teasing me with the pics, you may find me sleeping in your Wheel Horse barn some morning.

Gotta be careful here.... Already had 1 post removed..... I googled velcro riding pants many different pictures to view.... With horses yes...... With Wheel Horses, I could not find... Non slip pants are made. Just take a look see.

It may work if blade is off ground but if blade was down I believe friction from weight of blade on ground would be more than coat hanger could over come.

Internally all the hydro gear sundstrands were the same. Different model # usually involved the year or some external variance. The internals of the piston to piston were also the same except for the addition of a band brake in later years. D series Sunstrands handled 20 HP without an issue so long as you kept fluid clean and didn't grind up the parking brake. The weak spot was the splined coupler /input shaft between the engine and the pump, nothing to do with internals.

My rod is actually 1/2" but 3/8" would work. You could get a piece of rod, thread the ends and get a couple of threaded trunnions.

First time reading Sparky in Deep, brought back some great memories from my much younger days. I have so been there and so done that! Good thing we don't live closer Mike, I'd have to show you how its done.... I'd think I'd at least be able to demonstrate how you get yourself a little further stuck. Ya see, ya got to have a shoe lace with ya and tie it to the the governor shaft arm and give it a good yank (acts like nitrous) before entering said pond...

Hi All I am back from 7 days in Cabo with my family. On my door step was a box with the parts I ordered ( Yea! ). Here are the photos of the piston, in the cylinder and the engine going back together.

Redsquare really is the heart and soul of Karl and Mike, and the more senior Moderators who have all given so much of themselves to the Wheel Horse hobby. This is so much more than an informational forum. It truly is a family. I'm grateful to be a part of it all.

And Mike, you're post #10 in this thread as well, which is quite fitting for the 10th anniversary. I think that you had post #2, and for you being member #2, again fitting. I wasn't here this day 10 years ago, it will be another 2 days until my 10th anniversary here, but I am amazed at how whtractor.15.forumer.com grew to be WheelHorseForum.com. As I sit here thinking of the past 10 years, let me share with you all how I remember this place. First and foremost is member #2. Truth is, if it wasn't for Mike, RedSquare would not exist. I met "Sparky" here 9 years 363 days ago, and initially hit it off with him. This place was really the Mike and Karl forum for quite a number of months, and during that time is when we forged the first "RedSquare" friendship here. I recently saw a picture of his daughter on Facebook, and vividly recall when our girls met and had a "Webkins" friendship going on. By the way Mike, she's grown to be such a beautiful young woman! I have the upmost respect and admiration for Mike and that alone has made the past 10 years well worth while. Mike, I really can't thank you enough for all you do, and for your sense of humor, you are truly an amazing guy and I only wish we lived closer. Always not liking the name "RedSquare", and how I tried to change it a number of times, but was always voted down. Asking Chris to make me a moderator because I wanted to create a classified section so I could find a snow plow. (Moderators couldn't do that, so I asked him to make me an administrator, the beginning of the end!) The "Sparky in Deep" post (my absolute favorite post) Our first supporter, Eldon (kj4kicks) donating $35 so we could buy enough fBucks for chat Starting the supporter program to continue to fund chat as well as ad removal for supporters. The generous members of this forum led by Eldon to procure and gift to me my 1974 C-160, which is the year and model my father bought new! I still tear up when thinking of this. Max Nunn and his tragic story, which broke the hearts of even the toughest men here. The "hostile" take over of our forum data from fourmer.com when they took us off-line for weeks, and refused to sell our data to us, so I crawled the website and copied it post by post. Manually tracking the supporters by spreadsheet, The RedSquare logo contest Countless hours keeping the forum running, with failed hosting partners, software bugs while dealing with *some* members who felt it necessary to criticize the effort. Missing my kids last Halloween where they went together to migrate the forum during a quiet time. Seeing the amazing friendships grow here. Seeing the amazing in-fighting and petty bickering occur here. My first WHCC show and how Kate asked me to sign her RedSquare hat, I was just honored to meet her, and she wanted my signature? Meeting many of the members Knowing that TT is likely the smartest guy I know, and I work with some really amazing minds! Changing the theme of the forum and hearing the praise (and criticism from those who don't like it) Finally getting my snow plow (along with my 414-8) which is the REASON I joined this forum in the first place. Watching my kids box up RS hats, signing their names on the packing sheets and getting them ready for the mail. Tractor races with my daughter My death 4/8/2013 Signed copies of "Straight from the Horses Mouth" And the list goes on and on. It's been a short 10 years, and those 10 years have been the best and to be honest the worst of times. 99.9% of you are really amazing people, and I am so grateful to know you (even if we don't talk). To that .1%, while the number is low, the impact is high, and I do not appreciate being threatened, belittled or called all sorts of horrendous names which seem to amuse you all far too much. Happy 10th Anniversary RedSquare, you've grown from the "Karl and Mike" forum to the largest single brand garden tractor website in the world. It's been an amazing trip, and the baby looks like it's grown up now, which is happy and sad for me, but it is what it is, and I am so proud every time I see a RedSquare banner, sticker, mention in a magazine or hat on people, knowing that I had a little something to do with that. Finally to our members, thank you all for years of support. I have seen many leave, and many come, but you all have contributed so much to the site and the hobby over the past 10 years this place is for you!

Just grew the horse farm. Price was right (free). Everything's works but a little issue with shift lever. Its real loose and twist a bit. Tough getting in and out of gear. Any ideas or similar issue fixed would be great.

We are friends Kurt, since we met when you bought my 520. Me and Pete grew up together and we go back 60 years. Nothing wrong with giving something away to give a boost to thier life when there world is upside down by circumstances they can't control. Makes 2 people feel good. I have been down many dark trails in life so far, I bet many here have been to. We have talked about this before, so I don't want to get long winded on it. Glenn

I just realized, I never did post shots of the B-80 when I got it, so here are a few. Its pretty clean, original owner, with all the paperwork, and chains, and a snowblade. garage kept from new. The bigger suprise is I gave it away the other day to a friend of mine, he has a couple wheel horses that are tired and beat. Anyway, its his now, and his smile was from ear to ear. You know what? It felt great doing something nice, the B-80 can be replaced. Enjoy the pics. Glenn
