It's been a long process, and we reviewed millions of applicants and have asked @JimD @Terry M to help us moderate on RedSquare. Congratulations to Jim and Terry and thank you for volunteering your time to help with the forum.

Now, I jump in the operators seat, it creeps forward, barely, stops, rolls good. But nothing from the trans. At this time my buddy Pete pulls up. I got him into the red movement. He is with me on the trailer. me, him, the driver cant figure whats up. look underneath, broken belt to the trans. hey guys,,,what number belt do I need? Asking? Now I am cussin to beat the band, I dont think the driver ever heard more F Bombs in his life. I think at that moment I could have commited a crime and been in jail. The driver hauls off down the road. I did thank him though. Well, me and Pete get a rope , haul it to the garage with the 520. Now I am troubleshooting, tiny bit of spark, dont know if getting gas, fkd up wiring, spark plugs, pitch black. needle jets seem all over the place, couldnt get it to pop with starting fluid,,,yes starting fluid, that always works. Anyway, running for some new champion plugs RC12YC .. unless I bought from you guys, This WILL NOT happen again....or will it..lol. some pics...of my pig in a poke Glenn sorry Steve, I was typin and cussin.....heres your pics.....calm down. It still needs work, but she runs. Going to try to figure out the plow attachment later this week. Hopefully over the winter I can track down the rest of the attachments that my wife's grandpa says he hasn't laying around in random storage units.

For those interested in the more esoteric things... Albert Champion, a world famous cyclist (bicycles), came to the US from France in 1905 and, after becoming interested in automobiles, formed the Albert Champion Company to import French automotive parts, and manufacture ignition components including spark plugs. This initial firm was in partnership with several brothers by the name of Stranahan. A few years later, Champion left the firm to work with William Durant, the creator of General Motors. After a time, Champion formed a new company in Flint, MI by the name of the Champion Ignition Company making, among other things, spark plugs. His former partners sued him over his name, as their firm still went by the name of the Albert Champion Company. Champion eventually settled out of court, though he had to change the name of his new corporation. Both of Albert Champion's business firms are still in operation to this day, and still making spark plugs. The name he changed his second company to? AC Spark Plug. And now you know... The rest of the story.

As an added measure of protection you can run electrical tape around the edge of the rim and remove it prior to inflation.

Well, i decided to take a chance on a non-running Raider12 for 250.00. I was pretty bummed that I could get no spark as the mag ignition was not producing spark, but after talking to a local small engine shop, he said that he has converted plenty of them [so long as they are equipped with points]. To test whether or not the engine would fire, i chose not to involve any of the existing wiring harness. I grounded the jump battery to the block, ran a positive jump wire to the coil positive and then hooked up the condenser and points stolen from my Raider 10, Jumped to the starter and hit it With a bit of carb cleaner in the carb throat---well, Houston, we have liftoff. There is still a lot to do and not much time available right now, but i am very happy to have a Raider12 runner in the stable. Once i get the gas tank hooked up and see if the charging stator works, it will be time to order a complete electrical system . Points, condenser, coil,Ign. switch, and regulator. Probably will need a solenoid with the new switch as the existing switch goes direct to the starter. The old switch is for mag ign. and we may as well make it like the other tractor It is very exciting to hear an engine run on the born again tractor On edit: The Hydro Transmission works as well! A true Runner at 250.00. It also has a nice 42"SD, but the double d center drive pulley has the bottom V fractured off when the belt broke on the previous owner. I either need a new pulley or a new spindle unit. Any way you cut it, I have a complete back-up tractor for my beloved Raider 10, so all is good. When I added a temporary tank, the engine ran very well. Gotta go to work now....

Houston we have a problem ...now Ryan is looking all over the country for another & Round hoods & Brinleys & ??? and we don't have this one running yet! Guy's got it bad!!

Haven't bought a tractor battery in a year or so and I usually buy the Everstarts from Wal-mart (absolute garbage). I only buy them because they are cheap but I always get what I pay for and they never seem to last. So tonight I decided to never buy another cheapie from Wal-mart and I went to Tractor Supply. Bought this one and discovered it has a handle! What a great feature! Hopefully this one will last longer than the cheapies. Mike.....

I have had absolutely no issues with the Husky belts sold at Tractor Supply Company. They seem to be a good quality kevlar belt. No waiting for the mail either, if you have a TSC in the area.

Rustoleum is good. I used Krylon on my 500 Special. I like the way it sprays a bit better. I went with white on this one. You may want to use a beige or ivory.

I actually prefer to paint with the tires mounted. I use a Harbor Freight tire thingy and it does scratch the rims quite a bit. On both my Suburban and 500 Special I wanted to tube the tires. When I had the tires off I sprayed the inside of the rim. I mounted the tires, seated the beads and deflated them. I used 8.5"x11" card stock cut to the radius of the rim on one long side and they will easily slide inside the perimeter of the rim. To protect from overspray I use newspaper to cover the treads. Once painted they slip right out and inflate them again. No worries about scratches.

I prefer to paint my rims with the tires off. This allows me to make sure the inside of the rim gets protected with paint, especially when using tubes. When I put the tire on I put it on from the back or inside of the rim. If I use a tire machine I use this same practice. This way the outside of the rim that you'll see never gets a tool laid on it. I will brush touch any chips or scratches on the inside lip before I put the wheel back on.

That Raider looks to be in very nice condition!! Planning on picking this one up from SHYNON next spring..

Now the nitty gritty. the hardest starting sob you ever saw, with a puff of smoke she cranks. while he is starting, I am looking, the old saying about pictures. now exactly what I am thinking I bought, but,, it will have to do. Greetings all. I recently picked up a 1975 C-160 Auto. I managed to fire it up the other day. Probably the first time in at least ten years. It's such a neat old machine. My plans are to get it in serviceable shape, use it for a while, then blow it apart for a complete resto. I'm glad I found your site. Lots of great info here.

slammer, you have good eyes. on closer inspection, both bolts were very loose. I backed them out, checked threads for cross threading, a drop of oil. tightened them in like they are supposed to be. suprise. no sparks flying from under the cover. thanks. Glenn pfredi, jerry and all autolite fans. I just got back from getting 2 autolite plugs. I was told / warned. what I took out was a no go. so 2 plugs (champions) at 9 bucks are being replaced after this post with 2 autolites at 4 and change per the pair.these should be way better. thanks for the tip guys. Glenn Garry, thank you sir for the belt number, I did a flea bay search, found a few NOS, from 30 plus shipping down to 25. Would anyone run a differant cheaper belt? If so which one? Or stick with NOS? just asking, thanks so far guys on the advice, help, and comments. I am in the garage right now getting down and dirty. lordy I luv this kind of fun. Glenn

When mounting my tires, I use gas line hose. Split it length wise, then run it around the edge of your rim and cut it to length. I use the gas line hose on the bottom edge, and for the top edge, I use a rubber channel that John Deere uses for around the edge of the dash to protect the fiberglass hoods. Once the tire is mounted, I tape off the entire tire, as I hate over spray on tires!!! If you choose to tape off the tires, use the blue painters tape, as standard masking tape will melt in the sun or heat and will cause the glue to stick to the surface of your tires.

Sure looks good! I do know that my tractors sometimes don't always start exactly the way they should after a bumpy trailer ride. Maybe stirs up crud in the tank or the fuel bowl on the carb? Mike........

@Aldon did an extensive post on his two GT-14 rebuilds, bet he has a photo. I can't say for sure, but i think I recall it being a regular threaded filling like a 5/16 bolt; been a few years since I was in there.

10-18-1977 Mr. October hits three homers in three swings On October 18, 1977, in the sixth game of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees outfielder Reggie Jackson hits three home runs in a row off of three consecutive pitches from three different pitchers. Only the great Babe Ruth had ever hit three homers in a single World Series game (and he did it twice, once in 1926 and once in 1928) —but he didn’t do it on consecutive pitches or even consecutive at-bats.
