11 pointsI've thought of this for a while, it's not a new idea... But will give me shift on the go, and either speed up or slow down if I'm ploughing and need a little more power. Its a variable speed pulley on the engine, giving me around 20% more speed or torque depending how you look at it. Just the actuator lever to sort, before I need to print some 12 speed decals

9 pointsI picked this band saw up Thursday for a rather cheap price, it works but needs a new blade.. You may also notice the legs are somewhat bent, twisted kicked about a bit.. Sooooo... Out came the grinder, "off with her legs".. Not wanting to have a bench top band saw I thought I should give it some legs back made from only the finest scrap steel I could find Back on the ground with the cutty bit bolted back on and a couple of wheels from a WH cutting deck to make moving it around easier.. Once I've rewired it and a new blade is fitted I can make a start building something with this lot... 64ft of pipe that came my way for free

9 pointsThis will be the first time I've taken tractors to a show. Can't wait to meet all the great people in this hobby next weekend

9 pointswell a b80 followed me home from work today. since the magnum didnt pan out needs something maybe a rebuild lol. here is a b80 plan is to gut the harness out and pull engine. now dont be in a uproar because this thing will be back together soon anyway. monday i am bringing home another b80 thats in peices. so no harm done. now this one here looks to have a engine replacement done block is black rest of engine is red. i also brought home a hood off a c-141 for lights. my work horse 700 will be a good little machine when done. and this b80 will be slowly put back together with parts off parts machine. also i will be bringing home some cast iron kohlors ill be listing for sale for my boss. the cast iron kohlors range from 10 - 16 hp and are low hour engines (well supposed to be) they were industrial paint machines i dont understand that exactly. but was told they got a 1 1/8inch cranks on those engines ill be bringing them home monday and going through them.

4 pointsThe mower blades on my RM 116 mower deck looked as if they were well used over the years. Didn't figure I could find any easily so I did a little welding built-up. Both blades are all welded up reground, sharpened and ready to cut grass again.

4 pointsBOUGHT IT ! I guess ACman and bmsgaffer were right. I really wanted the 417-8. Decent twin engine WHs are hard to find, and I can't afford a 520, so I bought the 417. I figured that snow throwers are easier to find than 417s. The 417 needs a little work, but the engine runs great, and only has 488 hours. Forked over $600 for it, but considering that I got my 312-8 for $50 last year, I'm averaging $325 each. The 417 will run a snow thrower of some kind, and the 312 will be my plow tractor.

4 pointsSaw this little wheel horse, I don't know any thing about it, was sitting alone and no one around. Does any one ID it.

4 pointsA couple more pic's-if you folks will indulge me--for a few minutes. His SIL and I had talked after the funeral about that tractor--and some of his others, but that GT14 specifally--there is a local tractor/ historical truck museum in this area--and we know the man who owns it--so we will see what that goes. I feel like he would have been proud--one W/H gentleman came down from N.J. for the funeral. glenn

3 pointsAnd frog legs, and catfish. I had the pleasure of meeting one of our Texas members today, oliver2-44. Jim and I met at Black Hammock and enjoyed some great conversation as we ate their sampler platter. Black Hammock is on the shore of Lake Jesup which has the densest gator population of any lake in Florida. I guess we could call this a Wheel Horse meet and greet Florida style. Jim, it was a true pleasure and if you're ever in the area again look me up.

3 pointsI picked this 701 up from Steve (wh500special) a couple of weeks ago. I got it running the next day, but today I got it running off the tractor's fuel tank. It has a 8 hp K181 on it now, and it still needs the S/G mounted, and I had to have a bracket made that bolts to the back two head bolts. Right now it just has the cap head bolts, and it needs studs in these two locations to mount the bracket. Muffler is just sitting in the exhaust outlet, which is not threaded but has two threaded holes. So I have to find a gasket and the correct muffler that will mount in those two holes, or make a manifold that will pick up those two holes and then mount a better muffler on that. I'm not sure if I'll keep the 701 and I have my eyes set on a local 753.

3 pointsMy out of state friend asked me to mow his camping lot with the Wheel Horse yesterday and today we had a little cook out with hot dogs, coke and NO BEER as we planned to do a little plinking. There is one in every group and a real cool guy showed up who was a retired Navy Sea.l He rocked the Do-rag and motorcycle patches and all that. Me, i just dressed like a farmer and rode my old Honda . The trouble is, he talked way too much about how good he could shoot and it just hit me as weird, because most really good shots I know just let the group size do the talking.Anyway, my friend just bought a .45 Ruger, and we all wanted to shoot it. It did shoot nice. I put three in a 3" bull and one just outside shooting offhand. The Navy Seal shot next and nothing was said about his skills after that

3 pointsAdded a nice HL-5 to my newly acquired 701. The lights are not exact HL but very close. Ron Greco is working on finding me a replacement lens for the correct lights. The lights came from Scott and have an extension which I have never seen.

3 pointsI have a Golden Doodle that had cataracts and his eye lids turned under. The eye lids problem was causing him pain, so we spent 4 WHs to have them surgically corrected. It was a 3 mo. recovery that was rough on the dog. He needed meds & eye drops for 6 weeks, but it saved him the severe pain. The vet recommended against the cataract surgery for a 10 year old dog, because the results would not be 100% successful, and the recovery would be difficult. It boiled down to 'quality of life' for the dog's remaining time. My dog can't see very well, but he's happy and not suffering. Just like with people surgery, I'd get a second opinion from another vet, and from the surgeon himself. Most regular vets are not qualified to do the surgery, and refer to a specialist (more money). I recently heard on the news about a woman who spent $3000 to save a goldfish that was choking on a pebble. More importantly, you have to live with your wife, not just the dog. If you don't keep your wife happy, you're the one in the dog house. Good luck, Jim

3 pointsAwesome shop... perfectly organized, everything right where you left it. Would like to see more of that lil' rat rod.

3 pointsAll you need is a big lunchpail ! Isn't that how things work in a shop .

3 pointsI think the center pulley might be on upside down. Parts manual shows the small pulley at the bottom.

2 pointsHi all I replaced the fuel pump on my 1989 414-8, Kohler M14, spec.# 601540, Ser.# 199xx110353, with a new plastic pump. The tractor was starting hard and after sitting 2 or more weeks it would not start without putting gas in carb. Well when I took the old pump off it was a plastic pump, I was thinking it would be a metal one. Ok when did they start putting plastic pumps on Kohler engines? By the way the new pump made a great improvement in starting. The old pump was pumping but maybe not enough. I was just suprised that there was a plastic pump on a 1989 Kohler engine, maybe replaced before I got it?I thought this might help someone with a hard starting engine, just one more thing to check. 2 pointsMy Foreman has had these 4.00-8 tri-rib tires in the shop for the last month for another tractor project he is working on. I told him if he doesn't use them soon they might find a "new" home. They would look great on my 1054.

2 pointsAnimals get the same diseases that we get! My cataract surgery cost (the insurance company) about $12,000 per eye! Oh, but I did get some sunglasses with each surgery!
-
2 pointsSounds like you are a pretty good shot! Ego and all his bragging and bravado aside...I'm still thinking the average Navy Seal knows a few more ways to "score a bulls eye" than with a gun - with or without a new .45... BTW - I like you adding in the "no beers" comment. We go by the same rules when plinking or hunting and I appreciate it when others not only do the same but support it in conversations with others...

2 pointsDogs are pretty resilient! My previous guy, Oke', was blind in his left eye from untreated glaucoma when I rescued him at nine years old as a stray. I always felt sorry for him when, because of no peripheral vision to the left, he would bang his snout on things. But he never let it bother him. The vet said dogs cope better than humans! I tried to make up for the rough way he had been treated previously in the three years with us. Rest easy, "My Good Buddy."

2 pointsYes, she took it the the doc, and he said cataract surgery.. and I said do you know how many wheel horses I could buy..... Day 1 on couch. Glenn
-
2 pointsAre you sure the eye is just not clouded but actually needs cataract surgery? Our little dogs have eyes that look so clouded, you would swear it can't possibly see a thing. We asked about them while they were in for something else but a surgeon told us it's absolutely nothing to worry about and the dog can see fine. Doesn't seem to bother the dogs at all. And please don't try to ruin our fun! Just get your blanket and deal with it!

2 pointsOK, bought a hydraulic gear puller, made short work of the drive pulley. Got it all back together. Next year is paint all the tins. New motor starts immediately, and purrs like a kitten.

2 pointsNice job ! People looked at me I was crazy when I told them I use to put them in a vice and build up my blades with a mig welder .
-
2 pointsLooks a lot better already is right Glenn! Change the oil's, grease and work it. Put that 2 stage on it.
-
2 pointsI took off all the tin surrounding the engine found the fins right below the sparkplug all clogged. I'm going to run the tractor and see how things are going. Just from running It feels the the air is redirected. I will post a picture later of the fins clogged.

2 pointsThat looks like a steering box off a Cub Cadet, they would look much better on a Wheel Horse.

2 pointsIt's for a plow day, I have a frIend with farmland, and we go plowing for the fun of it every fall.

2 pointsWish I could have made it. Looks like a nice plate of food. This dang thing called work always gets in the way of fun. Oh well. We always drive over the 417 bridge at lake jesup and see how many gators we can spot out on the water. Not too many water skiers on that lake.

2 pointsMake your own. Switch is still available new and the lights can be found on Ebay. I made my own replica bracket and have the entire set up working for under $150. There are threads on this site with the template and dimensions that I followed.

2 pointsSome photos from the Mentone, Indiana Swap Meet today. Roger Parmley of Greencastle, Indiana and drove up this am and sold some things and bought some things! We got rain a few times this am an a downpour about 11 am but by 12:30 the sun and blue sky were making the day! Roger hauled home a 552 project tractor seen in a couple photos in the back of my red pickup truck! My 13 x 13 foot Coleman canopy (3rd picture) was of great benefit today and at one point we had seven people under it keeping out of the rain!

1 pointSo, I am finally putting the NOS engine in my 520-H But when I started to connect the regulator, I had these two wires connected together On my other 520-H, the red wire is on the center terminal, and the gray and black are connected together and then connected to an outside terminal, and black to the other outside terminal. This engine is actually a Linamar, the company that bought Onan, but otherwise it is the exact engine. Can anyone clarify the connections to the regulator?
