    With the new job teaching machine shop soon to be underway, I think it is time to begin a project that I've wanted to do since I read through meadowfield's C4 project. Well, here is what I'll be working on, a C165 4x4. Here are a few pictures to start with and many, many more to come! The main difference between Mark's machine and mine will be the addition of a right angle gear box and utilizing the parking brake on this axle. I hate to swap out the swept axle on this machine but I've always wanted to make this build. On the bright side, I'll probably have the only gear-reduction steering model tractor with four-wheel-drive in existence! If all goes well, I have a second axle I could use on a hydro version of this project! First step after removing the axle from the donor tractor was a bit of machining. The input pulley was splined so I machined it and it's hub down to 1" and milled a 1/4" keyway into it (pic to come soon) to allow for a proper keyed bore pulley to be installed and change up the gear ratio should it ever need to be done.

    i have been wondering for some time now if there are many smaller wheel horse collectors clubs out there. I'm part of one called buckeye wheel horse collectors club and there are about 50 members in it, i got my first news letter and it was great. our club is great they have a list of shows in ohio and everything some of the shows i see the club is invited . i have learned all this from a list, i have only been to 1 wh show and it was for the club meet and greet. but plan on going to more this fall. the people in my club i can tell put alot of work into it and it surly shows.

    8-26-1939 First televised Major League baseball game On this day in 1939, the first televised Major League baseball game is broadcast on station W2XBS, the station that was to become WNBC-TV. Announcer Red Barber called the game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, New York. At the time, television was still in its infancy. Regular programming did not yet exist, and very few people owned television sets–there were only about 400 in the New York area. Not until 1946 did regular network broadcasting catch on in the United States, and only in the mid-1950s did television sets become more common in the American household. In 1939, the World’s Fair–which was being held in New York–became the catalyst for the historic broadcast. The television was one of fair’s prize exhibits, and organizers believed that the Dodgers-Reds doubleheader on August 26 was the perfect event to showcase America’s grasp on the new technology. By today’s standards, the video coverage was somewhat crude. There were only two stationary camera angles: The first was placed down the third base line to pick up infield throws to first, and the second was placed high above home plate to get an extensive view of the field. It was also difficult to capture fast-moving plays: Swinging bats looked like paper fans, and the ball was all but invisible during pitches and hits. Nevertheless, the experiment was a success, driving interest in the development of television technology, particularly for sporting events. Though baseball owners were initially concerned that televising baseball would sap actual attendance, they soon warmed to the idea, and the possibilities for revenue generation that came with increased exposure of the game, including the sale of rights to air certain teams or games and television advertising. Today, televised sports is a multi-billion dollar industry, with technology that gives viewers an astounding amount of visual and audio detail. Cameras are now so precise that they can capture the way a ball changes shape when struck by a bat, and athletes are wired to pick up field-level and sideline conversation.

    Slowly bringing my 3/12 up to speed. Like any other older equipment or truck even I like to go thru it, inspect/replace worn or broken parts change all fluids, grease all the fittings, clean it etc. first I replaced the fuel pump, then I got rid of the silver wheels and tires. I like white wheels and had some old school white wheels and Goodyear terratires, a bit cracked but tubed and hold air. Next I replaced the 6 year old battery, after that I changed the oil. The Uni-drive was next, I drained, flushed with diesel and filled with 85/140. I greased the zerk fittings and tune up was complete. I felt confident about running it now. Finally I worked on the mow deck. It's in great shape. I pulled the blades and sharpened them, scraped, wire brushed and pressure washed the deck then two coats of rust oleum and greased the spindles. Today I finally got to use it. It runs fantastic. All the gears work, shifts great hi/lo no problem. Engine is an overachiever. Feels stronger than 12hp. I ran it at work today thru 8" wet grass up a hilly pasture and it didn't miss a beat. I've used many different mowers and this cuts as good as the best of them. I'm on the hunt for more imements now. wheels painted Mounted My water shotgun, and a clean 3/12 cleaned my other red stuff. Missing are 2 toro snowblowers and a 1985 toro proline 36" and another proline 21". In the pic are my 2005 proline 36", the horse deck and a 1996 proline 21" with a Suzuki 2stroke. I'm a toro guy.

    Hi everyone, Just here to finally close this post, now that the lighting is installed and she's back to being a true black hood. Some eye candy for y'all. I'll pack it off to old Homer tomorrow so he can admire it and will get some data on the old Horse he tills with. 92 and still uses it so I can't have it. Happy Weekend!

    After almost two years of down time I finaly got around to retesting my 1990 520 h. After I bought it I noticed it was leaking oil from the oil filter mount and that the motion control was always in a bind, as well as finding a crack in the frame and because it fell outta the truck bed. I had to weld in reinforcements on the frame, replace the hood with a nos non vented one, replaced the gasket and cleaned the mess, also installed one of matts foot controls and gear reduction steering . Then it sat for awhile, last weekend I was considering robbing some parts off it then decided to get it going instead. I'm more than happy with it now and noticed that it was really fast? I had to do some sweet talking but got my wife to race me across the front yard with my 520 hc..... Same ground speed! Must have a leftover 89 hc gear that was used up in 1990

    Help comes in a lot of different forms. It comes in forms where somebody needs physical help, help with money etc. Yesterday during my adventure to Portland I just happened to have a flat tire on my trailer. Well first off it was as I got off at my exit to take about forty miles south on the highway. I approached a Firestone tire store and they told me No right along with the Walmart up the street No was there answer. If it was my truck then sure we will fix you right up. I even tried triple AAA to no avail. This will be there last year for that. At that point I called one of the people I was going to meet, Brandon Schamer came to my rescue. Brandon was looking for some xi attachments which I had a couple extra. Brandon stopped an bought a small floor jack for his car, also to jack up my trailer. Brandon got to me and the journey began. Got the wheel off and made the trip thru downtown Ft. Wayne to another Firestone dealership who actually carried the tire I needed. Got the tire put on and we returned to the Walmart parking lot to reinstall the tire on the trailer. We then unloaded the xi attachments. I have never been so grateful for the Help that I received yesterday Brandon just like I told you Thank you very much!! At that point I sill had a tractor to deliver. I called Derek W. up as he was packing up at Portland well that worked out good too, he told me too set tight and he would see me also at the Walmart parking lot. He came up and picked up the tractor. I am here to tell you when you need help the Wheel Horse people get together there's not a lot of things that can stop them. Brandon and Derek I hope you have a great day Thanks for being there. In case anybody wants to know I am now recovering from my second stroke, Wheel Horse people rule!!     Just a little proud of my barn find 854 with a beautiful iron oxide patina. Got the mower deck also in similar condition.The engine is not seized and the starter spins. Working towards startup soon.

    A country preacher decided to skip services one Sunday and head to the hills to do some bear hunting.     from my local hardware hanging in the frount i toke this photo about 2 mouths ago and keep fogeting to add it here. they sold from late 50's to when toro bought wheel horse out. lets see it is a rj 58 or 59, lets see if i right still hangs on there door to go back into the work shop. i think it metal.

    I know I know everyone likes pictures and videos. We were upstate recently and I had my son on the 314h pulling some logs. And me on the 522xi dragging a driveway groomer in circles. Once again they made my life a little easier.

    I built a set of forks for the loader tractor. made them simple and easy to adjust side to side and to remove all hardware with 4 bolts on the side of the bucket. will let you know how they work at a later date. The cross rod is 7/8 in. cold rolled steel, and the forks are 1/2 x3 in.. and the square tubing is 1 1/2 x 3 in. I put 2 locking bolts on the square stock to hold the forks in place You can move the forks in or out where ever you need them.

    Not much done or to report, however last night and tonight I was able to wet sand the frame and toolbox with 800 grit, and got them both second coated. I'll wait a couple days, then hit these again with 1500 grit then again with 2000 grit, applying an additional coat of finish after each sanding.

    Thanks for the offer but I really like the look of the non louvered hood. I hope we can get together as well. Not sure how I pulled that off Thanks Yep sure dose hurt tomorrow I'm gunna trim them and adjust the brake and hydro.

    Bert Very nice Job bring it back. Just an F.Y.I. look at the bolts sticking of the wheel weights. Maybe trim them back. I have hit my leg one IT HURSTS LIKE HECK.

    Nothing wrong with turning to the yellow side, but the CCs are a bit more complicated. That 70 is sweet, btw. Great looking tractor. The 70 and 100 have that look about them, and they replaced the Cub Cadet Original and "fixed" the short comings the Original had, mainly eliminating the belt and drive pulley in the drive train and going to a full drive shaft configuration. IH did this by flipping over the frame allowing the engine to sit lower therefore aligning it with the transmission. The Original had the frame like the Wheel Horses did, with the angle down therefore the engine sat on top of the frame. This meant the engine was too high to be inline with the transmission, so IH dropped a belt down to a pulley and attached the pulley to the driveshaft. The 70 and 100 had the frame flipped up so the engine sat in between the angle iron lowering the engine inline to the transmission.

    It's a little late , but instead of a weld ,fab shop for your braces . Try a body shop or HVAC contractor (if they don't build their own duct work they'll know of a good metal shop) . Great resto by the way . I had a 84 Honda Spree when I was a kid . Road that thing everywhere .

    In most cases the backpressure is only a good thing at low RPM where the vacuum created behind each slug of exhaust can actually help extract the next slug increasing the low end torque. With these governed engines that are normally operated near WOT, there is a steady stream of exhaust therefore back pressure is a bad thing robbing HP. Go big.
