Picked up a parts tractor for my 416-H. You should have seen the wife's face when she pulled in as I was unloading it. It's a late 80's 416-8 with a 48" SD deck (mine is a 42"). The deck needs a little welding near the discharge side spindle, ignition switch, and somebody tinkered with the transmission so it pops out of gear and won't go into high range. Front tires are totally shot and won't hold air for more than 5 minutes. But at least the Onan runs and fires right up! Not a bad score for well under $200. Bought for parts, but might fix it up and actually use it.

This was on my 854 when I brought it home.

Now where did I store the 520 blower. Center square in Red Lion, Pa yesterday after 2-3 inches of ice, hail, and snow fell.

I don't know if this has been done before but I have been inspired by another member to sponsor this. SHOW US YOUR UGLY SEAT! Rules: 1) Must be mounted on a running or not ..no other brands please they are ugly enough. 2) Need not be orginal seat but brownie points if it is. 3) More brownie points if you still actually use it for quality seat time. 4) Lots of extra brownie points if it's on a trailer queen. 5) No photo shopping .. 6) Can be a pic found on the net but see rule #1 Anyone caught violating above rules will be tied to a G & Y thingy and beaten with a reallyyy dull set of mower blades. Grand prize is either an autographed picture of squonk at the bus stop or some kind of horse trinket, winner's choice. I will kick this off with one but i KNOW there are alot better ones out there. Today I came home with the pickup loaded to the top with cedar mulch to put around the garden. So the wife & I loaded the trailer on the driveway and moved all of it to the back yard garden. I lost count of how many full loads it took to empty the truck but we got it all done today. At the garden, we had to shovel he mulch into buckets and carry it into the garden perimeter. I also lost count of how many times I had to climb on and off that seat! A Charger12 and 10 cu ft trailer. G.

Update: Yesterday was my 6 month check-up following my surgery. Doctor says that everything is looking great. I feel good, but I am still limiting my Wheel Horse activities until I reach that magical 1 year point where the fusion should be 100%.

Got exhaust done

I saw this little finch pulling nest material out of Mrs Ks front door wreath. Assumed she was building a nest somewhere. The nest was in the wreath. Now I can watch them hatch through the screen door. And with a mirror with the door closed.

With the aid of a remote tank "soda bottle with a hose jammed in it" , a piece of rope, and some duct tape I drove this beauty on the trailer when I bought it. Ants had taken up residents in the seat, wish I would've noticed that before I drove it on the trailer. Close up so you can take in the true beauty of this throne.

Definitely fix her up. You can see what looks like gasket sealer oozing out of the transmission seal. Hopefully they didn't screw it up too bad. I see another transmission thread coming

Much better than Teflon tape would be most any kind of pipe sealant. Better sealing and no worrys about intrusion into places not wanted. Sorry I just have a thing about the tape.

Please don't take this as disrespectful. I'm still confused. You speak like you took it apart and did or had the work done. Then you talk of just buying it off of eBay. You also mention a chrome deck coming for it. Then there was the ad her with it for sale. . I'm just confused, but that doesn't take much.

Did that once, hooked the chain, rolled forward and let the weight of the truck do the work. That bush popped right out of the ground; then I notices the 4" red clay tile embedded in the root ball. The nasty old boxwood I had pulled was right outside of the bathroom and I had just broken my sewer line in half. Took me a few hours to repair that!

We've had a robins nest under our gutter for3 yrs. now. I think the first batch is out of the nest. There's 2 robins out side now and have been going bonkers for over an hour! there's a little tweety bird hanging around on our window sills for the past 2 weeks. We named him Timothy.

This is my favorite time of year the birds are singing and nesting, the squirrels are frolicking on the newly mowed lawn. The grass and leaves have turned bright green,and in the spring a young mans thoughts turn to Well I'm not a young man anymore so I guess I'll get the and do some mow'in...

Not to steal your thread or thunder Al, just thought the guys might like to see what a 1067 looks like that has been through the mill. I do plan on making it look like yours someday. Right after I get all the other tractors done! I am slowly collecting stuff that is missing and will be looking for more at the BS. This was my 1st horse in 1986 and was already pretty rough when I bought it. It was my main and only mower till 1996 or so. Did throw a rod in it once but other than that has always started & ran good. It has a loose hub that needs attention as it moves on the axle and took out the seal thus the greasy wheel. I pretty much quit running it till I can devote my full attention to it. Hope you don't mind I saved some of your pics to aspire to! My favorite as well

my progress so far....I got the rear end open and whalla and thats after soaking it in wd gas and oil...not all at once. so I sprayed alllll that out and found a peice of the case...the bolts that thread into the case, the thread is on the case, and the threaded part has two that are broke. Wonder if that's why it was put to rest and while resting the bolts couldn't hold the seal tight and whalla again here we are rotten rear end... Anyway I guess I should pull out each peice and clean them up...or unless someone thinks soaking it in acid will clean it all up?

There's a thought set up a web cam on them like the eagles!!

Mrs P. has had house finches nesting in one her hanging basket one year and now every year they come back to the same basket. Hopefully you don't have neighbor hood cats to pester them like we do!

No thunder stolen. This is where I started with mine. It took me a while, because I had to learn as I moved from piece to piece. The important part of these stories is that underneath whatever it looks like is a horse of iron and steel. They are great machines. Good luck!!

Great news, I go in for my one year spine fusion check up in a couple of weeks. I have been increasing my activity, but being smart about what I do and don't do.

Well, here is the update. I needed to practice before I open up the 1067 (too emotionally vested). So I opened up my SK-486. I was shocked at how dirty things were considering how well it runs. Now it is clean and still purrs like a kitten. Good old Kohler K341!

IMO you have done a great job refreshing the tractor. Pull the head and clean the carbon out. All it takes is time and a new head gasket. Then you'll know the inside is as clean as the outside. Chunks of carbon can break off and score the cylinder if not cleaned; Cleaning is cheaper than rebuilding.

Certainly not stupidity at all. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being curious and asking questions. After all, none of us were born with any Wheel Horse knowledge so we all learned it as we went along too! Besides, if no one ever asked any questions on here, what would we do? Sharing knowledge is what this is all about.
