Really got to get the K91 finished up, she's getting a little closer!! Happy with the tire selection....and I think the color of the wheels and seat is at least close to correct.

Just wanted to say thanks for this site and especially to SOI and rmaynard - even though I didn't have to ask for them to assist directly, reading through old posts walked me through everything I needed to do. Two weekends ago I went to put the mowing deck on, turned the key and nothing. No dash lights, no clicks or other noises, nada. And it had just ran fine when I moved it into the garage. Did a few quick checks on the battery (ok), ground wire (ok), key switch (nothing), and fuses with the multi-meter (which showed no power at the fuses with the key turned on) then figured I was going to have to dig deeper. Fuse box and wires going into it looked ok at first - later on when I took it off there was some melting in one of the wire locations. A check of the 9 pin connector showed what I think was the main issue, 2 of the wires were burnt out in the sockets. So I ordered a new connector from rmaynard (great transaction) bought fuses and went to work - a few hours later I had things connected back up, and it fired right up. Nothing like that feeling! I picked up this Yanmar 7hp Diesel off of Craigslist for $400 a few years ago and put it in a Lawn Ranger. It only had a few minutes off actual run time when I got it. Way to much power for the tractor but sure is a blast to drive around.

Sounds like making that bend in the rod may have made it too short & now the governor can't close the carburetor all the way to idle position. To confirm this theory, remove the linkage and try holding the throttle closed against the idle screw. If it idles then you will need to replace the linkage or make a new one to be the correct length.

I wouldn't think twice about it

Last year we cut down a huge White Pine in the back yard and had the stump ground out. Well we have some sun back there now, so we have a little room for a Victory Garden again. The problem was, it is not a huge space, and is hard to maneuver garden tractors around with in the confines, but I wanted to give it a shot. With the help of a mold board plow, disk, and a blade, we got the ground leveled out and ready for some grass seed and some garden stuff. I should have taken more pictures. This picture is right after the stump grinding. This is about 80% wood chips that needed to get raked out...and this is last year. So...today was the day... Took the snow blower off of the 876 and put the mower deck on. I left the snow blade on the 702. The 857 became the do everything experiment. I used the mold board plow to break things up...that worked great. I then used the disk to further break the soil down. A little raking and the lawn and garden is ready for planting.

Considering the advancements in lubricant technology that have taken place over the half century since my s were built, I am sure the mixture will be superior to what they had coming out of the factory.

A previous Green tractor that I owned had a switch that killed the blades when backing up as well as the engine if your butt left the seat. Took about 5 minutes to track both switches and eliminate. Nothing worse than restarting the pto every time you need to back up or the damn engine shutting off if you lean too far over or need to leave the seat to do something. Nothing wrong with people losing a digit or running over their kids. It's called natural selection. We need more of it these days.

Lots of posts on that, remove the "Dogpoint screw" that holds the shift lever in place and remove the shift lever. Take a screw driver and line up the forks, put the shift lever back in and adjust the dogpoint.

For a second there I was in complete agreement. I was even headed for the freezer. Then realized you wrote itch cream. Some weird reason I thought you wanted ice cream. Oh well. Can't let this pass without dealing with it. Guess I'll grab a bowl and cure this itch....well, uh...Urge:-)

I always drain my oil containers into a bigger container. I don't mix weights. Always use straight 30 wt in the and 10 w 30 in the El Camino.

I wouldn't be afraid of mixing those together. If you have something that burns a little oil that's what I would use it for .Someone makes a rack that you put your jugs on upside down to let them empty fully into another jug so you use every bit of oil.

Steve, you are a brave man. I guarantee you I would have a black eye if I were bold enough to suggest that!

Thanks guys. Actually, I had my wife standing on the disk platform for the weight. She was hanging on my shoulders...I was only going in 1st gear for about 10 feet.

I have some neighbor kids I would like to try it on, but I think they are too fast!

We have taught our 12 yr old to always make eye contact with the operator, especially any car in any parking lot. People are just sucked into their own world, You get all connected inside your car now.

I mow in reverse with my push mower LOL, but it simply does not cut as well. I'm sure most do not go as fast in reverse, but I am sure there was a lawsuit involved in this "safety feature".

No, it's called an unfortunate or even tragic accident. Don't get me wrong folks. I don't advocate bypassing safety devices. They do have their purpose and do prevent accidents. If you are considering removing them you need to carefully weigh your situation and understand the ramifications of doing so. My older brother has a defib and a pacemaker planted in him and has a 312-8 that he mows with. He's open about not caring for the safety devices but his wife made it very clear that he wasn't going to bypass them. Considering his health issues I stand by her. Then you must consider children. All of us old timers on this forum lived through many years of no safety devices. But I, as well as most of the rest of you have seen accidents that occurred that may have been prevented on a modern machine. Nuff said.

Put a couple concrete blocks on that disc Steve and it will cut in the ground a lot better! Looks great and now time to start a composter for soild enhancement ! Don't forget AT Least 22 Wheel Horse attachments !

I'm sure like me, many of you have oil bottles with just a bit left that you can't toss out. So is there any harm in mixing differant brands or weights of oil? Mike....

Plenty to do, just hate to see orphans looking at me with such sad eyes. I guess these things have been a little bit of soul support with the year I've been through. And the vehicle/bus that he rear-ended. Notice the driver speeding in the beginning and then stomping his brakes as he rear-ended the traffic in front of him. Then notice him scurry like a rat over the meridian wall for protection without checking on the people he hit. Amazes me the number of people that try to get a close up look with tanks blowing in every direction. The guy more worried about leaving his car there over his own life. The people taking video. The police car that shows up. .... I'm guessing there was not much left of the truck. This video is one reason I always stay clear of these trucks on the road. Gas cylinders are nothing to play with.

Gotta be able to mow backwards! I back up and go around trees, posts and into corners and stop and back up over the little triangles of uncut grass that are left. With the rear discharge deck, going backwards works great for mulching up leaves and tall cut grass too!

There is a hole in the bottom of the PTO hoop, just above the lower mounting plate, that should have a pin in it to help keep the hoop from sinking. I think that is where your spare belongs. Nice Malibu! My son dreams of a ride like that. He will get it as soon as he finishes building one himself!

Good luck Bob i feel for you...after taking to my B1290 Clinton to two different shops for valve guides, both of which sat on it for a month of Sundays and didn't do squat, I took it to a shop that did mini bike Briggs for me when I was in high school power mechanics some 35 years ago and had it back in no time. Nobody could figure out why I wanted to resto or put coin into a 50 year old 4 hp Clinton. My Clinton parts guy says if you can't save these old motors you ain't trying because the parts are out there. Hopefully these guys that delayed my progress won't keep me from bringing this to the Big Show. Which brings up a good point you had made ..maybe we should get a favorite machine shop thread that does good work for a fair price in the appropriate forum.

Well in the garden tractor world that is...but strong built SBC through a set of headers and flowmasters does wonders for a body too...lol...Wheel Horse in disguise...

Geez Richie, you ruined it. I've been waiting all day to post that I made a bacon and egg sandwich this morning and celebrated the day with a dab of mayo on it.

I bought a used JD 300 and it had the blade lock-out in reverse. I called the local JD dealer and he said there was no way to override it. Now that was my challenge. A quick look at the wiring diagram and I had a removable jumper in place, and I was mowing in reverse in less than 10 minutes. I have always mowed in reverse. There are parts of my lawn that can't be mowed any other way. Such an idiotic "safety" feature. Just my 2 cents worth.

Did a little cleaning on the top of the engine and new air filter today,(whoops forgot to take after pics will add those later got side tracked) also my father-in-law said I couldn't get a wrench on a part of my Dxi so I made one that would hardened and tempered and it fits and works just fine, don't tell a hillbilly he can't do that ,Jeff
