Just picked up my new special order trailer. 6X10 plus extras.

A couple weeks ago,a member here inquired about the value of a C-141 8 speed.He lives about 20 minutes away so I made him an offer.I went Thursday afternoon and got it.He's a real nice guy.It's been in his family since new.It came with a decent 42 in.SD deck,owners manual,a spare front rim and tire,and a couple boxes of new spare parts.Starts and runs great,but like he said,it smokes real bad.An oil burner for sure.I might rebuild the engine or use the 14 horse Kohler out of another C-141 that I have.Enjoy the pics.

Got the 857 out today and kids did most the driving with messy faces but they loved it! And I didn't have to ask them to smile that just came from driving the horse!

I'm surprised Squonk is not sitting on that bench waiting for a call.

This rusty peice of an 854 followed me me a while back. Missing most of the sheetmetal, and engine, I decided to build sort of a 1045 ish tractor with a fresh rebuilt k181 and some leftover 856 parts. Let me know what you think

Haven't done so well keeping up with my updates, but anyways here is another 1. After doing more of these transmissions I realized there were some more mistakes I made on the trans I redid for this tractor, I put new style gears in and in order to do that I need to put a couple washers in between the case and a mushroom gear, as well as I wished I had flipped the axles as the ones in it wobbled back and forth which I'm sure would of leaked. I had a good trans and bearing set laying around so I just decided to build it, it was quicker than going back and fixing this 1. I will go back through this 1 soon and keep it around for a spare. Here is the trans I built for it. Body work on the hood was finished up early this week and yesterday painted the frame and hood. along with the new trans. And today I began assembly...was able to get it just about done. Tomorrow I need to get a different length belt and touch up the paint in a few places and it should be done other than decals which I haven't bought yet. I also may add a set of fenders to it but I kind of like the look without them for now. Thanks, Jake

my 2 cents is the hair dryer/heat gun on the opposite side of where the decal is attached. I find that the adhesive will warm up and as you then begin to remove the decal, it will "let" go.

Thanks glad you liked it! It was a very flattering article- excellent writing by Lorn Manthey. He did a great job with detail to my son also. It has also led to my phone ringing a lot and some very interesting prospects for builds coming up in the future. For those who haven't seen it- they did use a picture including John Campbells Gt-14/16 along with a couple others and it was just over a half page! The interesting part of the phone calls is finding out how many people who do NOT use the internet and have never seen any of the tractors. I'm gathering there is a huge older generation out there who obviously has no use for modern communication- But love reading and looking at real paper in their hands. Its been a real fun experience and Lorn also said that they will run an update if I let him know when we finish a machine which is pretty cool.

I started my day by going to a auction were their was a 312-8 up for bids. I waited 2hrs waiting for the auctioneer to get to the horse and about the time he makes it down the line where the 312 was sitting he skips it and moves into the house to do the furniture so i ended up loading my wife and two littlest kids up and leaving feeling a little down. So on the way home checked the local CL and spotted this sweet thing that had just been posted and looked better and was priced right and the best part was i didn't have to fight i whole group of guys over it. will post better pics after i get it unloaded

The belt guard was missing too, so I fab'd one of those up too. My seat cover from eBay is supposed to be delivered today, can't wait to put it and the seat on tonight!

Got the motor cleaned and primed and the belt guard and brake guard blasted and primed. Need to do some work on the drive belt guard and prime it again before paint. Getting a little Sun.

Color, it's the only color that cost extra. But I liked the silver. and it took longer to get it the normal black red or green. And today was not the day to be on interstate 70, the gusts of wind were a challenge, but me and the ram did it.

Without tins you probably do not know spec #. Maybe some Cub board could help you out if you knew the Cub model # Spec number I found all start with 46 46179, 269,270,280,310 329,407,611,632,657,717,734 and 46754

I will be sure to update if I do decide to put it in a horse. To the best of my knowledge it does not have holes in the block to mount the starter. Thanks for the great information. I was worried that that part may be hard to come by. Glad that it should be easy to get.

"It would seem you are a bit 'green' on tackling this problem" Being a graduate of the school of hard knocks... intelligence guided by past experience, tells me the smart thing to do is to put back the coupling bolts and tighten them. Then start the tractor, and drive it on to a trailer and bring it a pro and pay for stupidity. I am not equipped to to lift the engine or pull off the fly wheel. So God willing I'll be operational again by next week! Thanks for the advice and help. And and I gladly accept the bonehead award:)!!! It just slides in the point keep it from coming out. International Harvester used 13 different spec #s of K241s ...I looked at several and they all use points plunger # 4741104s

If teh hole isn't threaded it is for the plunger that actuates the points. What kind of ignition system do you have, Magneto/points...battery with points or breakerless????

Huummm......a night light, eh? I'd like to see a pic of that. That's a really interesting and novel idea. Pay phones used to be ubiquitous (universal & EVERYWHERE), but the cell phone craze, killed them off in fairly short order. I knew a guy who was a couple of years behind me in high school who went to work at Indiana Bell right after graduation and worked for them for 30+ years. Most of his time with the phone company was spent making a service circuit doing nothing but repairing the coin ops and collecting change out of the change lock boxes. Pay phones were one of the highest maintenance items in a phone company's infrastructure...... people would use the receiver to hammer on stuff, try to pry open the change lock box, and generally abuse the crap out of the devices. About the only places I remember seeing a pay phone in the recent past was at an airport or large stadium facility. They're almost antiques now.....and they've not been out of service all that long.

Doesn't everyone have a pay phone in their yard?? Actually just a night light.Bought the old pay phone for 10 bucks,cleaned it up,painted it,put in a new fluorescent bulb and wired in a photo cell.It lights up a pretty big area in my back yard.I get LOTS of comments about that phone.

Although other European navigators may have sighted the Florida peninsula before, Ponce de Leon is credited with the first recorded landing and the first detailed exploration of the Florida coast. The Spanish explorer was searching for the “Fountain of Youth,” a fabled water source that was said to bring eternal youth. Ponce de Leon named the peninsula he believed to be an island “La Florida” because his discovery came during the time of the Easter feast, or Pascua Florida. So my wishing got the better of me today and a little blacksmithing later on down sized material 3/8" thick this time and here it is in pre fab mode...bent the sides to match the frame width @ the front attach-a-matic...maybe I should patent it and farm it out for manufacturing ...Anyways guys hope you all like it and get inspired,Jeff.

I bought an Echo straight shaft about 10 years ago from my local Toro Dealer. Never a problem and I've put many hours on it over the years....only replaced the "wear and tear" items like the spark plug and the bump head. Just my 2 cents

Well the Horse is in the trailer, ready for round one of the eastward relocation Project. 6 days behind due to our lovely Weather, our lovely mud and a lot of aggravation. Round 1 of 3 for my truck and trailer and then 1 round with the semi truck and trailer. ( I hope) Maybe I have better tractor luck at the new and last place I will ever call home.

Thanks. My daughter worked in the shed with me on them for over an hr tonight and wants to help next weekend too. She installed new air filter on the 857 and ran the ratchet to take bolts off wheel weights on the 856. She is good help!

This is a 12 hp Kohler from a C-125 blackhood. Can anyone tell me what the black round object on the engine block is, and why would it be weeping oil while the engine is running? How do I repair this? Thanks Mark .

That engine is a heavy beast...taking it somewhere is a good idea if you are not equipped.

This is excellent and I think you want Section 8. http://www.kohlerengines.com/manuals/landing.htm on the right hand side...type in K in the 1st box...click on 1 to 10 in the 2nd box...horizontal in the 3rd. scroll down to K 241 and click on "service" then click on English to down load. All the wiring diagrams are in Section 8. Are you sure it has a starter/generator? Is this off of a Wheel Horse??

I ended up with an unexpected tractor this week. Ended up getting a call from craigslist ad for my GT14 I had listed. Worked out a deal that included me taking custody of this 520H. The fella ended up being a big wheel horse fan and is a member of this forum but I neglected to ask his screen name. Duh!!!! He has several wheel horses and had this spare 520 that he had needed the deck off of. Not sure if I will adopt it into the permanent herd as I have plenty of projects to keep me busy through to next year at this point. It smokes a bit but runs great. Hydro is good. Has front swept axles etc. but plenty of time will be required to bring it back to glory. i just can't seem to downsize the herd no matter how much I try! while I eventually want a nice 520, I think this ones stay will be temporary.

As was mentioned above by Don @varosd, heat gun on opposite side is the easiest and quickest way..... no chemicals. I`ve never needed anything but the heat gun method.....

There are two idler pulleys that the BACKSIDE of the belt rides on. One is on the tiller and one is on the pulley assembly that goes in the mid tach a matic. If either one of these pulleys is bent, or not running perpendicular to the belt, even a bit, the belt will walk. Sometimes the bend is small enough that it will just move the belt to the side and the edge of the belt will wear. I just adjusted the rear idler on on my tiller last fall. It was out a bit and the belt would walk on the front idler. I used a 10 inch adjustable wrench on the idler puller bracket and gave it a small tweak. Problem solved.

Echo. The trimmer we bought in 1994 is still perfect. Starts, runs, advances line every time . I have echo everything: trimmers, saws, hedge clipper, water pump, gas drill, blower. Never a bad one. Not it marketed as well as other brands like stihl, but great stuff. Steve

I have had good luck with all echo equipment chain saws blower and trimmers take care of them and they take care of you

I usually used heat gun judiciously to soften and weaken the adhesive and just pull it off a few heated inches at a time. Too little heat and the decal won't release or just breaks as you pull too hard but too hot and the decal stretches too much. Focus the heat on the metal and remaining decal and none on what you are pulling on. Adhesive remover for what remains.

I dont have any pin stripes on my Rubber wheels..=).....But i use googone to get it started THEN a haiirdryer.........and googone to help with the remainiing

I only have to renew the string in Stihl every 18 mos. I save the instructions, it takes me less than 30mins. You need help, come give me a visit. You'll love Maine in the summer. We got lobster remember. I can show you where Stephen King lives in the summer. By god we'll have good old time.
