For the first time since my back surgery, I had a little seat time on the 416-H with my youngest grandson. Both of us had a great time.

Well Boy's Finally a like brand New 520H,,, Just bought today !! Only 400 hrs,, the gentleman passed away RIP,, and was offered to me..right after they put on craigslist i paid for it instantly lol,,,pick it up tomorrow !!!! Good news is for you guys,, is if my buddy doesnt buy my 310-8 , with new plow i just bought from one of our members lol , and chains and weights and brand new ag tires , and spare parts brand new never used in the box tie rods and ball joints i got from whelhorse1000 ,, and also a NOS drive belt i bought as a spare.. Is going to go up for sale ill know for sure tonight..nothing wrong with my tie rods , just bought to have adjustable ones,,

Wow, it was in the 70's here in south central PA which is almost a record for us Sooo, I figured a good day to bang off a half day of work and paint some parts!

After 3 days of 70+ temps, the ground was right for tilling. So, I put the battery from the 520H snow machine in the 314H and Mad Max Had a ball. I have another as of today. it is in my sons possession now waiting for me to pick it up. I guess he wanted to load test it. That is his worker sitting on it.

This little one is my Wheel Horse guy. If I work on a horse, he is right there with me. At 4 years old, he wants to know how things work.

I ran across this old article a few days ago while digging through a closet for something else. Dorris Kincaid was the local Wheel Horse Dealer here in Excelsior Springs MO. It was a human interest feature in the local Daily Standard newspaper from 1999. Here is brief bio: After Kincaid was discharged from military service he bought an existing local small service station in 1946, which evolved into selling mowers and small engine repair. He eventually sold the station and moved the small engine business to the garage in his home. He later expanded the garage and eventually built a separate shop next to the house. He became a Wheel Horse Dealer sometime around 1956-1958. I think he told me 1956, but I'm not certain. My grandparents lived across the street from him and I remember it from visiting there in the 60s. My uncle recalls putting the roof on his new shop in 1958 and he sold WHs at that time. I purchased the house next door to the Kincaids in 1989 when I was 25. He was a friend of my family and I knew him since I was a kid as my Dad bought many tractors, implements and parts from him along with my uncles and I did also. He ran the business until his death in 2006. We were also neighbors until his and Mrs Kincaid's death in 2013. My folks, along with my daughter and myself, were able to attend his funeral and graveside service in 2006. I took a pic of the tombstone last year on Memorial Day. Mrs. Kincaid had the WH tractor and logo engraved on it, which I think is most appropriate. Brings back many memories for me, so I thought I'd share with y'all.

you just gotta...take a chance. Recent C/L offering...C-160 sitting outside, unused for the past year, flat front tires, dead battery, no spark, below freezing, so the trans was locked up. Seller helped me push it up the ramps, and into the truck...once back home...was running, driving, and mowing within the hour after unloading.

When my parents were still living and the wife and I were still young, we used to camp and crab on the Pocomoke and Janes Island near Crisfield. That was back in the days when you didn't need a license to crab off the piers. We would crab all day and usually get about a bushel. Then were would steam them over the campfire. Man, did you jog some great memories. I plan to be there.

Better bring him to the show and really get him hooked on .

If none else, this is the only reason you need to have to own a Wheel Horse ... priceless memories. Congrats on the successful surgery. Happy Birthday !!!

ztnoo, The 1035 designation is the type of steel.It is referred to as a medium strength alloy steel.If you can get one then it may be what you need.To some this might be redundant but you are trying to get one running as opposed to making it pretty.My offer still stands and sir is almost as distubing to me as mr.I am just plain OLD Jim.Let us all know how this works out.Luck,JAinVA JimAnderson

I know this won't help 2 stage owners ,but I replaced the 3/4" bearings on my single stage with ones from Primebearing for $13.35 ea delivered. The square hole needed to be elongated about an 1/8" out board .Hacksaw and file.Once done these parts can be reused and only the bearing needs to be replaced.These were sourced from E-bay and may not last as long as oem but for the price you can afford to have many on hand.JAinVA

They ARE just bushings. And expensive ones at that! Horsefixer did a thread a while back and I think this was the bearing that fit. You just need to measure the available space between the side plate and the auger and then compare to the specs for the bearing. http://www.surpluscenter.com/Power-Transmission/Bearings/Flange-Mount-Bearings/3-4-4-BOLT-FLANGE-BEARING-1-204-12-4.axd You'll need to drill some holes but should make a nice upgrade. I bought those Toro bushings a couple years ago and they are already getting worn but probably good for a couple more years if the winters are like this past one. Once they go again, I'll upgrade to the flange ball bearing.

. Well I’m done motorizing my snow thrower except for a on - off switch, coming in the mail, just in time for 70 degree weather. There is a 10amp in line fuse and there is a disconnect for each motor and the power. I made this setup so it can be easily taken off and the original crank put back with just one clip. I think it looks a little crude compared to some of the setups on this site. I made it from items on hand around the shop. The box for the switches was to small to fit in the power switch so I’m going to mount it on top .( The white cap ) I still can't master the uploading of pictures . I gave up .

I used this song as prime material for my first creative writing paper in my first semester of college writing class in 1970. I remember the prof who drove a Harley to class and had a ponytail liked it very much. I think the graded paper was an A - or B+ - but this still is one of my favorite songs. New Old Stock Wheel Horse Lawn Ranger front axle and spindles. I had these in storage for several years. I sold to a fellow Red Square member doing redoign his Lawn Ranger.

This thread explains why Wheel Horse went belly up. The disposa-tractors are just fine for the masses because they will ruin them just the same as a real tractor. Those of us that appreciate and care for things mechanical, are a dying breed.

The neighbors bought a disposal lawn tractor several years ago. They mowed with it one season and maybe all or only part of the next season (best I can recall) then it sat under a tree for 3-4 years while they used pushed mowers, until they hauled it off and brought home another new one which is now setting under the tree and I don't recall seeing it being moved for quite a while. I don't know if it runs or not. I always assumed it was due to neglect. It's a disposable society for sure! I always try to repair things before tossing them out, whether it be a toaster or kids toys, yard equipment or whatever. I'll fix the same thing only twice and that's it. Then it goes in the trash. I own an RV so I've got a lot of experience repairing things!

Long ago had a neighbor, tech school adviser for vets returning from Viet Nam. He didn't know the difference between a slot or Phillips screwdriver. In elementary school, all eight of us kids at the dinner table, Dad would bring a tool to dinner. Pliers, wire cutters, lineman's pliers. the best, most descriptive answer? Lineman's pliers! Extra desert for the best answer! "Ye Ha, I get two pieces of rhubard pie, yummy!" My grandsons spent lots of time in our shop earning their "driving lessons", working and cleaning the Horses and their stalls. PM (preventative maintenance) keeps the Stallions earning their treats! Hey kid, "Check the oil before you take the Horse out to work. Then attach the dethatcher, the grass needs to be 'brushed'".

There is a lot of that going around these days. We want our kids or grand kids have more or better than we had at their age and we end up with people who don't know left from right and just throw it away and buy another one.

I don't have a two stage but based on the parts manual I would think you should grease the inner surface of the bushing at assembly.The grease fittings on most flange bearings help with alignment of the sealed bearing.If the bearings on a two stage are just bushings then I would think you need to grease them at assembly.What could it hurt. so ive been in construction for more than 30 years,mostly a stone mason slash concrete installer,its hard work and long hours,the last employer I workrd for we averaged 70 hours a week,that includes the winter when you just cant work that many hours,it was a lot for someone my age,im not that old but I'm not a spring chicken either as I was born in the mid sixties,we had some time off this winter and a caretaker job pops up just around the corner from me,i talk to the wife and she agrees that its been just too much,cant even have a social life unalone hobbies or take care of my property,well I go for the job which is on a magnificent estate,200 acres,rivers,ponds,its an old mill as a matter of fact,it is right up my alley,taking care of pretty much the entire estate excluding gardening and housekeeping,neither of which I care to do anyway,got enough gardens at home,but they have every piece of equipment an estate would need,backhoe,which I have many years experience,woodshippers,stumpgrinders,etc,so today they call me and give me the job,yeha,but the only downfall is they have 3 johndeere tractors,2 garden and the zero turn is a big deere,well I guess I'm gonna half to get used to wrenching and riding a deere,but I get off every day at 4 and home by 4.10 so ill have lots of time to work on my horses,and the honey do list as well

I am not usually easily swayed by a sales video; but the No-Spill can got my attention. I bought the 2 1/2 gallon one at TS for $19.99; worth every penny! Filled it up, fueled up the 953 to within a half inch of the top, stopped by itself and not a drop spilled. It actually did what they said it would, how often do you find that?

Both pedestal tops on and one base done, though I do have a mistake I'll have to fix. I was rushing because I was running out of gas for the welder. I think it must have an internal leak as it went from 1000 lbs this am to 0 by 2:30. I wasn't doing that much welding. @Snowmobileaddict let me bug you again, or anyone else who knows, what size are the pipe fittings at the base of the tank. They looks like 1/2 inch. Received the the control valve today and the rest of the hydraulics should be here tomorrow. Gotta run run out for more gas now, and some flat bar stock.

Helped butcher several hogs and while my grandparents were mostly self-sufficient and very frugal they had to feed the dogs something!

Another RJ... better get a (couple)tombstone on the front of that thing.

Wow. I bought a Yard Machines rider from Walmart 20 years ago because I couldn't afford a real tractor, and never took care of it because I was sure it wasn't going to last long, and I would just buy a good tractor when it died. I have to admit, it lasted 20 years with no real maintenance to speak of.
