19 pointsI had a great visit with a good friend today. Roger Parmley is a great Wheel Horse enthusiast and collector. He has done some very nice work at preserving some of the better model Wheel Horse tractors. I visited today as he had most of his horse out of the stable and running ! He was getting ready for this year's show season ! I could not pass posting some of the photos we took as you very seldom see a collection that has so many nice tractors! I know how much we just like to look at these but today I was able to drive the 876 Automatic and the 500 Special around and enjoy the thrill of operating them. This was in between visiting the welder today on my RJ rebuild, gridning down my frame for primer, painting the RJ frame with primer ! (those RJ frame photos will be on the "So You Want to Rebuild Your Three Piece Transmission" thread Stevasaurus is doing with a great deal of participation from the Red Square Community.

6 pointsPicked up this Raider 14 a few months ago, after debating for a couple of months i decided to restore the old girl. Pulled it in the shop, started a list of what i need and want to do, then pulled the tired old kohler and got it up to Paul's (oldredrider) over the weekend for a rebuild. Lane had the nos dash plates picked up one of them. Picked up some smaller items I'm going to need so we are off and rolling…slowly... This will be a slow build but will keep it updated with pics as progress continues…... i will have plenty of questions as i go along…..

5 pointsWithout a doubt I will be at the big show. Right now I'm in a funk. I'm sure things will get better. Don't worry, you can't get rid of me that easy.

5 pointsWe had sum nice weather this weekend so I got my trusty old commando 8 out and got it ready for sum garden work. I added 26 11-12 ATV tires witch fitted without any mods and put inside wheel weights on the back and home made weights on the front. I tried it out and seems to plow very good. Weight distribution seems to be about right

4 pointsWhen my 10hsp did that...it was the adjustment screw in the top of the carb. Notice the position of the slot in the screw...turn it in while counting the revolutions until it "gently" bottoms out. Back the screw all the way out and use carb cleaner and a fine piece of wire to poke in the holes in the end of the screw. Replace the screw going all the in to bottoming out and then back out to what you had in the 1st place. Should be like 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 revolutions. Adjust the screw to get the best idle. Just a little dirt can cause this...mix some Sea Foam with the gas after this to keep it clean. Hope that solves your issue.

4 pointsIt would be worth the drive just to be able to walk that lineup.

3 pointsDamn all the "experienced voices" we are losing!! I guess that is just 'time marching on' -- Bob, real glad you are pain free and having had occasional back pains in the past I totally understand any decision you make to keep yourself in a pain free state
-
3 pointsIf you look at the manual they call the lever a parking brake, it loosens the drive belt and engages the parking pawl. In all likelihood most pawls have been chewed up to the point that they don't work, but there is was one there.

3 pointsWOW...that has got to be an OUTSTANDING experience. What a collection. I hope you are going to clean off the dirt on the tire treads when you get them home.

2 pointsFound this at a yard sale last Saturday. '79 C121 It has a good 42" deck. She runs but she's a smoker and it's complete. Seat is roached. It's pretty much all original, unmolested with the exception of someone has bypassed the ignition switch with a push button for some reason. Transmission seems to be in good working order. I'm not real familiar with the Hydrostat trans. My other WHs are manual trans, so I have a question. There is a lever to engage/disengage the trans. Is this supposed to put it in neutral so you can roll the tractor?

2 pointsHere's my home made Pedal hydro clutch for the GT14, basically created from parts I had laying around from my tractor stash... works really good and basically unbreakable.... also the "T" handle can be used like always if you prefer like when you backing into a tight spot or shed.

2 pointsBob i have had 2 back sugurys and have "Shermanns Kyphosis" in my spine ,, i feel your struggle buddy,, what i do is instead of twisting my back to look behind me i just twist my ass,, slides easy on vinyl i just turn my whole body you get used to it after a while and becomes second nature , so when ya feel up to it give that a whip it has worked for me ,, another thing is i sometimes just look down between my arm pit,, so there is no body movement at all ,, i hope these 2 little pointers help buddy ,,best of luck..

2 pointsI asked the doc why so many people that have had this surgery end up having more surgery later. His answer was simple. They didn't follow their doctor's advice. Simple. I don't want to go through another surgery and recovery like this again in my lifetime if I can help it. I am pain-free now, and I want to keep it that way. If that means giving up the hobby, so be it.

2 pointsTHE MOTHERLOAD! I can't believe what my eyes are telling me. Ty, Jason. Glenn

2 pointsWhen i adjust that same screw in (while adjusting carb) if i go to far in it will do that ,, so i usually just turn it out a half a turn out from there and she is right on the money and not to rich ,, nice plug burn no carbon build up , so after ya clean the jet and are doing the final adjustments ,, give that a whip...

2 pointsMine did that the gov would go high speed and then slow down like it was starving for fuel. It is a 12hp Kolher. Turned out to be the points had opened two wide. Readjusted the point gap to 18 and now it works and runs great. I even put a new carb on it before checking the points.

2 pointsGlad your healing process is on schedule Bob. But please don't give up un the horses. We have mirrors.
-
2 pointsUPDATE - I had my 12 week follow-up this morning with my surgeon. Everything is looking great. All the hardware is still in place, and the fusion bone is starting to knit with the vertebrae. He said that the healing is right on schedule. However, his prior instructions of "no bending, lifting, or twisting" still remain in effect, and he says, unless I want to look forward to more surgeries in the future, the "no B-L-T" shall remain in effect for the rest of my life. Of course I can bend and lift a little, but right now about 20 pounds is my lifting limit, and I can bend using my hips, not my back. Asked about getting back on the tractors his comment was "okay as long as I drive forward. Twisting to look backwards to see where I am going in reverse is a no-no." So, with that in mind, it looks like this may be the end of the Wheel Horse hobby for me. I may keep one, but as of now, I feel like selling the rest.

2 pointsI would definitely rebuild that muffler. Because of price and availability. I`m not much of a welder, but I think torch welding or brazing would work. Just time involved in making a new center tube...

2 pointsYou better get Terry a nice pic or the joke will be on you...you will have to look at that nice banner in your horse barn with a rent a wreck on it! Would take me two days to walk that lineup Steve! I'd have to stop half way for an adult beverage to make some more drool! Ok ..we know where he's from, we know it's a 10 hr trip, we know he's goin north...quick sombody triangulate his whereabouts and head him off at the pass... wait don't they have GPS's in those rentals???

2 pointsthis thread has been sparse on updates - having moved house and starting other projects... It's time bendy had it's hydraulics finished, there's also a heap of other jobs to complete, including stopping the rear drive slipping when under water, rebuilding the magnum engine, adding a diff lock indicator, etc For now, here is the D-series spool valve mounted with easy reach levers and linkages and decal to finish it off. I'm just starting on adding a power steering pump to the axle, driven from the clutch.
-
2 pointsNice setup, plow away! Neighbors didn't think my old 8 hp Horse could do that, wrong! Did plow effortlessly. Front weights always a must have when turning earth!
-
2 pointsHere are two pictures of the wheel modification to my short chute snow blower.

2 pointsThese pics were taken about 1998. That's my 1977 B-80 with me and my daughter who is 18 now. I've used this tractor for all my mowing, snow pushing, and yard work for 23 years now.

2 pointsI am not going to make a Squonk type comment on your light bar since you are a Virginia Gentlemen but it looks like it needs a little more engineering. I love the herd.
