Well in the past few months since becoming a member I never thought of the idea of having anything more than the 69 Charger V8. Well 13 WH tractors later I believe it's time to change my name to something more universal. New name will follow soon. And I will take the opportunity to thank all the members who have helped me along the journey. My wife says thank you too but hers didn't sound as sincere for some reason!

Hi everyone. I have a great update for ya. After almost a year since my Physics experiment ( to see how fast a 230# pound man can fall from 10 feet and what the results would be)? I went to see the surgeon last week. The doctor said that I am 95% percent healed (tendons re-attached to the bone). Therefore, I can start some more aggressive weight work. I have to go back to see him at the end of March. If he feels confident that if I were to slip and grab something like the grab handle on a truck and hold my weight with my right arm? He will allow me to go back to driving ready mix again. At that time it will be over a year. I guess he wasn't kidding when he said it would probably take that long. I have been doing some light duty work when the company can find something for me to do. I am excited to get back. I am starting out with 7lbs. on the weight machine. Funny, that is less than a gallon of milk. After 10 reps. of each of the 8 different exercises I have to do? It feels like 700lbs. It will come. Pat

I took my wheels and seat pan parts in to be powder coated today. Luckily i I had two locations within 30-40 minutes of each other. I had a close Fred Sanford episode at first location. 6-700 for lot depending on whether how difficult the paint was to remove. You could scratch it with fingernail almost as they were basically primed with a single topcoat after I blasted them this summer. Needless to say, I politely exited. BTW, this was a Powdercoat business. The next location was a do it all kind of shop. Cycle parts, Mecahnical repair, minor paint and restoration. They run sand blast and powdercoat on Saturdays. 250 and much easier group to deal with. My heart rate has returned to normal. I think 250 is pricey but a lot more fair. It is after all NY and the guy probably pays over half to the state. definitely worth the second opinion.

I don't own one.........I guess I'm getting old. Actually,I prefer to talk on a phone rather than type and surf. Definitely showing my age as I remember a childhood without computers too.There was also a time without 's .But I must not speak of this as it was a bleak and dismal time devoid of happiness.

Electrolysis...got a few warmer days coming up, so I decided to get that rusty case going in the tank. I put in a good 1/2 cup and mixed in the water. The Anodes are "C" clamped to the sides of the bucket...about 1/2" off the bottom. The transmission casing is also "C" clamped and is just hanging on a bar to keep it from moving around. Then it is just a matter of hooking up the wires from the battery charger. The black clip goes on the part to clean and the red clip goes on the sacrificial anode. I then took some jumper cables and attached between the 2 sacrificial anodes. The charger is set on 10 amps. Watching an E-tank can be better then watching paint dry.

312 Hydro I don't own a cell phone either . My wife has a cell phone a flip type. If some one wants me they have my land line phone number , they can leave a message on the answering machine. They can contact me if the have my email address. Do you remember when you could shop in a store and the cashier was not talking or flipping around on the phone while taking your money. One better is when the cashier could make correct change when you handed them $5.26 for a $4.26 bill .

And the real horses are just underneath the wheel horses. And sometimes they scare the schitz out of me! Gets a little creepy at night in that barn.

Ahh ... not quite!! LOL ... 3 seats, 48" each, so 2 people per seat if you're strangers, if you're "friendly" then maybe 3 per seat!! LOL Or if you're a NASCAR fan, 4 people per seat!!

Looks to me like your trying to bring Frankenhorse to life Steva....have you given any thought to rotating the case a little every couple of hrs in relation to the anodes?

Well, got the base trailer about 75% done, still have some lights, and steps but gettin close. Will start building the seats on Monday!! Of course here's my obligitory BUTT shot!! Oh, yea, it's gettin wheel covers too!!

Many times pricing has to do with whether or not they actually will want to do the work. A bunch of smaller bits is much worse than a few larger parts. Also, Harley or other owners are often willing to pay more than an old tractor guy.

You keep all those horses in the hay mow for long and you will not have any hay left. That is a very nice collection you have there.

Most of my customers call me "Pete in the Pete" I guess that name fits a bit better.

Picked up my tractor yesterday...this is what I am working with. Engine is strong with tons of compression. I need a battery so looking for suggestions on that...total sand and repaint of all metal is that plan.

Two different beasts Craig, bendy has way more traction and control, but less articulation and is not as stable when traversing. C4 is lighter and more agile, the huge front axle articulation gives it the advantage. It does get stuck.... I just cleverly edit those bits out It's incredibly satisfying crawling along knowing you can drive up, over and through most things I'm always wary thanks, I've rolled my quad a few times and have the scars Thanks! It is great fun to drive That was a lucky first time, I did get stuck further down, I was asking too much I've been part of Land Rover trials and quad biking most of my life. The last 10 have been playing with model rock crawlers, you might understand how C4 came around if you've seen the videos. im actually choosing the diagonal in a lot of cases just to push the articulation, you might not see it but it's handy being able to shift 200lbs onto the high side when needed

Figures as much the scut and cut tractor market has really picked off the garden tractor market...either buy a $700 lawn mower or $7k zero turn or buy a $15k scut/cut tractor...but as a farming family growing up one had to a variety of tractor sizes to get the job done efficiently or muddle through with the one you had...plus we did it all with an old Allis Chalmers B and C which (we sold before I got the Kioti) with modified horse drawn implements awe the good ole days,Jeff

I got the frame plate mounted tonight and the motor set on , progress is slow but still moving forward

I finished repairing my two stage snow thrower for my 523DXI . I put on two new idler sprockets and a new chain . I did all this without taking it back off the machine ,not an easy task . Thanks to NYPCrepair ( I think that's right ) I made up an oak block 9 1/2 long 3/4 thick to wedge against idler sprocket bolt to tighten the chain . When I put the block in place I noticed it was right by the key hole on the side . ( second picture )I was able first to get a thin screwdriver in to pry against the wood . Then there was enough room to get in a pry bar and force the block to tighten the chain . The first try I made the chain to tight but got it the second time around . Two things : The chain was 55 dog bones long and the picture is distorted so the ruler does not look like 9 1/2 but it is .

But...with them we do get some great tractor picts.

Not at all. You want ferrous metals in all parts of this operation. It is all about electrons moving from negative to positive. Different metals can make the solution toxic.

Here a few examples of mounts. Of course, the one for the 5xi would be specific. There may be something off the JB shelf close enough that could be used with the new sideplates as well. They would need to be deeper and taller at the front. In my case, all I would need is the new mount, the bracket from the JB to the mount, and weldments for my existing actuator. John has standardized on his bucket design and frame. They differ with the bracket to the mount. My grand scheme is to wire all three 5xi the same so that the JB and snowthrower with motorized chute electrically would plug-in the same. I would use the same control box on all three and be able to swap them around. Just having the mount opens up additional attachments for the 5xi/NH GT to: Generator Johnny Bucket Jr. Front trailer hitch Front weight bar for tilling Your imagination? Kubota BX Mount JD Mount (probably closest to the 5xi) Craftsman Mount (also close to 5xi mount)

If anyone would like a CAD file (.DXF) of just the front quick-attach pieces I'm happy to provide it. As shallow water mentioned above, I made a pump carrier for my FEL project and patterned the carrier from my existing mule drive pulley box for my mower deck. The CAD file would be all that you need to get the side plates made at any CNC metal cutter (Plasma CAM or laser). 2 side plates, 1 front plate and 2 pegs cut from 13/16" round stock are all that it is. To get those parts together would probably be less than $50. I had all that steel in the bottom pic cut with a CNC laser out of 1/4" HR steel for $125 material included. The front clip on the 5xi looks like it can accommodate up to 3/8" thick side plates for these front carriers. I made mine out of 1/4" plate and it looked like there was 1/8" more room in there on each side. Come to think of it, I believe the single stage 42" 5xi snow thrower I had was 3/8" thick at the front attach point. some pics:

You might consider a bucket (scoop) that just hangs on your snow blade. Makes for easy on 'n off to move mulch, sands, dirt, whatever. An easy fab project and 12 ga crs'll work. Of course, nothin' beets a FEL.

Very entertaining, surprising that the wet tires gained traction on the rocks coming out of the creek. I guess we all need to use a bit of "Body English" on uneven terrain.

Well, with all this talk of generators being powered by a Horse, I decided to create one of my own design. I bought that HF head unit for $250-ish just after Christmas and had to wait three weeks to receive it! Anyways, since I plan on using my 520H to power the generator, I designed the generator frame to attach to the mid-mount attachment where the mower deck would usually go; this machine will not have a mower deck since this M18 has no thrust bearing on the crank. The engine has a 4" pulley while the generator has 3". I don't really feel the need to use a four inch pulley with an 18hp engine since that much power is not required to run it (746 watts = 1 HP anyways), plus this engine is governed to 3200 RPM anyways as it came out of a Cub and is labled as a "Magnum 15". Well, here are the pictures. You'll see that I attached two casters on one end so it can be easily moved around. All that is left to do is hook it and find the right length of belt and then fire it up!

im a mason and concrete instalations worker,ive seen these up here but on a skid ateer and it had safty grates,that machine as it sits is a DISASTER,we would have kids sucked into that thing in minutes,the tractor can put anything on the front just like a skid steer,we had one that had a scale on it so you knew how much aggregate to scoop,if done properly very high strength concrete can be achieved,good for small jobs when under load charges are more than the concrete cost,up here we use a lot of aerated concrete and we simply get a bottle of liquid air and add it to the water that goes into the mix

It's about 20 years old. Starting to get some pin holes, but it should last awhile. I disassemble it and store it in the basement, I think the fairly even temperatures and no sunlight is a big help.
