My wife is the greatest women in the world. Brought home a trailer load of wheel horses and she met me at the barn to unload and complimented every single purchase. So I added a 1257 an 856 and a charger 12. Also got a 32" snowblower a plow 18hp twin briggs and some new foot pegs for the suburban. They are all very well weathered but two run amazing. The charger 12 was bought as a parts tractor. Will get more pics when I get back home.not sure of the plan yet but i do know the 1257 is gonna get cleaned up to be my primary mower, pusher worker. Will be posting for a few parts so please look for that post.

Started out with a blown up 3500 watt Techy Generator. Pulled it a part and cut the crankshaft as close to the rod throw as I could get it. Had the shaft turned down to 1 inch for a pulley drive. had to make a bearing support for the front of the rotor and pulley drive shaft. I have cobbled together a frame to mount on the front quick tach. The weight of the regenerator will tension the belt. I have it together enough to do a trial run. Its going to work out great. All that's left is to weld of the frame and dress it up and it will be ready when I need a portable generator. I wanted to build this so I didn't have to worry about maintaining another motor and it will fit on any of my horses and small enough to store under the work bench

March 1969 Wheel Horse advertisement. GT-14 $1,495 with free mower deck. That's about $8,900 in today's dollars. These were premium machines in their day.

Well....70 degrees today,,drug out the plow...lucky the weights and chains are mounted on extra wheels....i had to pull off the front weights to check the air...fixin that mistake...Flipped over the cutting edge,,,almost lost a plow....i will add material if i have time maybe next weekend.....Im showing you my rear axle with 2 inch spacers....with out them my chains were hitting my plow frame and wearing it thru..ouch...I do 5 driveways with this...i cannot believe the power a 2 cyl has,,,,this has never stopped.... My neighbors even stop by to see if it is feeling "good" this winter...2 winters ago i blew a head gasket,,,im not sure who was hurting more....them or the 857.... well next weekend 857 #4 comes out of the shed and gets its snow blower........2 hours,,,,,,do the weights ever feel lighter.?????

I don't think so but having her out in the barn at 8@night ripping all that rusty gold off the trailer and telling me how good I did and all the stuff we could do with the the new tractors, reaffirmed why we have been married for 13 years.

Workers I leave with original patina, I only paint ones that have no work in their future. First ones a worker, second is a non- worker

Doing some yard cleanup today & put my 310-8 loader tractor to use. My wife got the shot of me in the dog pen with the corny smile....notice the hat? I had a pretty decent load of lime stone rocks in the bucket & wanted to see how bad the steering would be....not bad. Once I upgrade the front tires & add the gear reduction steering I got from Kelly it should be really nice. I picked up the Kwik-Way at Steve Myers Service in OH, friend & member Nick857 let me know about it. The weight box came from another friend & member, Derek Workman. The 310-8 was one I gave my dad years ago to mow & plow snow with. He's not able to do the work anymore so I brought it home last summer. It's all dialed in now...well except the front tires & eventually the easy steer. Should be real handy with snow removal, mulch, river stone & whatever else needs done. Maybe build a set of forks for it next spring too?

Is anyone planning on attending or showing here? It's indoors and a great way to relieve cabin fever. Our local club will be taking a day trip there on that Sat. and I'm sure some of our members are sure to be showing their big ones.

Hello everyone, This past year my wife and I jumped head first into the Wheel Horse pool, starting out with a 1967 857 which the previous owner rescued from a barn, repainted, installed a Robin Subaru 13.5 hp engine and 6 speed hi-lo Unidrive, and included a 48" belt driven side discharge deck, 36" gear driven deck, and a front mount snowblower. I added liquid filled lug tired all the way around, a box scraper, utility cart, and a used Brinly field plow. The little tractor worked out so well, we picked up a 1972 Raider 10 as well. The Kohler engine in that thing is quite the beast! We added liquid filled lugged tires, a new seat, and repainted it to suit my wifes's tastes. That means it's pink now. So, hello again to you all, and attached are a couple pictures. Thanks!

Hello from strangely warm Wisconsin! As some of you already know, my husband and I have become Wheel Horse enthusiasts recently. I can't wait for some snow so I can try out my pink Raider 10 for plowing! I'm a gardener also, so if the winter refuses to come, I can always look forward to using my Raider 10 to plow the field. My next Wheel Horse will be a round hood. I will also ask my husband to help me pink that one as well as it will be my show horse. The Raider 10 in pink is awesome, but it will still be a work horse and will not always look so pretty. Ok, truthfully, I would love to have a horse from every series and would love to pink those as well, but I'm willing to take it one at a time. I have attached pictures of the two horses in our fleet (the first two of many, I hope). Thank you everyone for the many warm welcomes. I look forward to getting to know you and your horses!

I recently bought a Kohler k160 motor that I was told had a broken rod which was ok as all I wanted was the ignition system off it for another motor upon closer inspection I found that the motor was siezed and that the rope starter pulley was loose on the crankshaft and shucking back and forth I deceided to remove the tinware and cylinder head and give the piston a good soaking with penetrating oil a couple of hours later some light raps with a hammer handle and the piston was moving up & down and no broken rod next I cleaned the points and hooked the spark plug back up to check for spark Nothing at all so off with the flywheel and find this is the problem Got out the good old Kohler engine parts book and find that I need a #230075 coil which is NLA soooo on to E-Bay found a used one for $200.00 The next few hours I spent searching online and this is what I found The ignition system is a Bendix Scintilla magneto ignition system this system was used on small one and two cylinder motors and that some old mercury outboard motors used them also I found several web sites that sold vintage outborad motor parts and which had new reproduction bendex scintilla coils for around $60.00 bucks so I ordered one mounted on the motor the only thing i needed to do was lenghen the condenser wire the coil seems to be a exact replacement for the kohler part number after this I lapped the head and replaced the head gasket also new condenser ,points and spark plug also a complete carb rebuild without using any NC chem dip and a differant gas tank and line new muffler too sorry for the back ground noise in this video as my cnc machine was running behind the camera runs pretty good for sixty plus years old Brian

you can crimp these with a pair of side cutters or the like. we have a bunch of these at work and just have a pair of cutters like this for crimping them. Do you guys find that these are the best thing to use for fuel lines? I have just been using the spring style clamps like the originals.

WISH I FOUND THAT A FEW YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I searched around for 6 months before finally giving up and changing all that stuff. Even searched the outboard sites too! BUT, I think I still have all those old parts so maybe I can get that donor engine back together with a new one of those.

When starting this up , check your voltage and adjust your rpm for the right voltage . I made one similar to yours.

Power was out here for over a week in '92 when an ice storm took out a lot of the big transmission towers. Had a generator serviced and ready ever since as well as at least one backup. 5500 Porter-Cable and a 5500 Wheel House share the duties.

NO ... I didn't die!! YET!! lol ... been laying around thinking a lot lately ... thats a bad thing according to my welder buddy!! lol ... so ... the next project is a 3 axle trailer to haul a few folks around. Why not!! Got most of the parts rounded up, getting started with construction. Got 6 wheels and tires from a local golf cart dealer ... FREE!!! Thats always a good thing. These geezers down here don't like stock wheels and tires on their carts, so take-offs are easy to get. So how am I gonna turn a 3 axle trailer??? Simple, we'll just make the front and rear axles steer!! You're gonna like it!! Pics coming soon. Geez, my welder is gettin a sore neck from shaken his head!! We just ordered 6 sticks of 1-1/4" alum tubing, 24' each!! How to transport this thing has been the biggest hurdle ... not saying anything yet, gonna wait to see if it works before I say anything!!

Awesome...I'm gonna try that. Hey honey, come check my pulse.
  38. 2 points
That is a nickname I earned at a first aid class many years ago. I learned how to make the pulse in my wrist "disappear", so when we were checking pulses, I did just that, and the person checking my pulse said, "Oh my, he's dead!", and it stuck.

Have had a Generac portable for over 20 years. Most always starts on 1st or 2nd pull (Briggs 9hp). Was getting to be a bit of a strain for me (old) in cold weather so I got this "Wheel Horse" generator. Works real good when needed. Marvin

seeing these 2 tractors looking so fresh and new, really makes me was to do that to my 854, and make it look like it just came from the factory. I've gone though it pretty thoroughly and it's running and shifting good. But it looks old and used, which it is I'm just at a quandary of what to do

Yep gotta love the 753's with duals, head lights and everything else you can throw on one! Here is my custom dually 753! Dual wheels, dual mufflers, dual hitches, HL5 head lights, 8 ball shifter, 1961 footrests, seat back rest, 60 lb front weight, factory mint seat cushion and I just added the one of a kind wind up key on the back this year! This is a high revving, romping machine!

Absolutely! If you can snag all the gear to convert it to power steering, that would be great! Let me know how much they want, and I'll be happy to pay you something for your troubles.

OK, here goes a long post.........Crankcase noise? Less than old Onan, but doesnt purr like a Honda. Muffler is Ginormous but not that quiet. Am I really the first person to do this?? If I did this . Anybody can do this. (especially after i give all the details) Measure , Measure , Measure before you take old motor off. Height , width, distance from here to there. The more reference points the better. HF shaft is 1.3" lower than P220. I used 1.25" aluminum (the miracle metal) blocks. Easiest to drill thru. (7/16 Holes) HF shaft is near exactly 1"Dia. P220 1 1/8" Dia... Thus you need a piece of steel tube 1 1/8" O.D. 1" I.D. (Online Metals. get at least 1' I will tell ya why later). However, closest i could find was .992" I.D. Had to use a 1" bore thru. Keyway slot needs cut in new tube to match slot in HF shaft. 1/4" key. You have to use 1/4" X somethin bigger key, cause you have increased the needed height by putting that sleeve on there. In other words to go up into drive pulley far enough. Oh longer set screws too. The length of this sleeve... sorry i didnt write it down. You gotta guess like i did by putting the PTO cone on. You have to be sure you are past the length of that heavy steel bushing or whatever that thing is called the needle bearing travels on. I unbolted the original motor plate and put the 1 1/4" spacers under it. I contemplated that, big time, whether to leave the original plate there and put spacers under it, or space the motor on top of the plate. i didnt feel right about the motor sitting on little blocks, so i spaced the motor mount plate up. If i had spacers and another plate i might not have gone the route i did. Have your front belt tightener pulley thing on the tractor for the east and west motor alignment. Have your PTO on and place a belt over the pulley. Make sure it doesnt ride on the cone flat disc face. Use all those measurements you took for north and south. Obviously you have to drill new holes in motor mount plate to match HF motor mount holes. (i used a 3/8" dowel rod about 1 1/2" long with paint on it to mark new hole placement. you dont have room for anything like a marker or center punch.) Upper PTO mount I simply had to weld 1" to its lower extremity to meet with HF bolt holes. Had I put the motor up on spacers and left the mount plate there I "might" not have had to do this. EXHAUST SUCKED! HF muffler dumps right in your face. Cannibalized new muffler and old, to flop everything around. Oh you can used leftover 1" tube to lengthen pipes to clear PTO and hood. Same size as exhaust pipes. .............. You figure it out. I did. Throttle and choke simply undo old/new ... hook old/new up. HF comes with a "control box" take it apart lengthen wires drill bigger hole in dash for ignition switch. SIMPLE STUFF. Obviously I got rid of ALL BS guages. Might try to hook up voltmeter. Fuel line SINCH. Battery SINCH. The hood is tight. I need to raise it. The hood louvers cut into the HF air filter top. I have a rag on it now. Muffler touches side of hood. GO FOR IT! All you guys that never cleaned the cooling fins on your Onan. I bought this one for $150 only because it had new back tires. All you Wheelhorse purists, is this like puttin a Chevy motor in a Ford? Or worse? If anybody needs more info, not sure if my e-mail address shows up to everybody, but feel free.
