It is nice to see this day remembered. Regardless of what the govt. says, its as if they want this day to slip into the past. To be forgotten. I stated this last year, and with great pride I will say it again. My father was there that day, a 17 year old kid, from Elizabeth, NJ, stationed aboard the USS PENNSYLVANIA, gunners mate, turret 2. For you pop, and those with you that day. TO ALL VETERANS, I SALUTE YOU, AND I SHALL NEVER FORGET YOUR SERVICE TO OUR GREAT COUNTRY.

I was stationed at Schofield Barracks in the 1970s, with the 25th INF DIV, you could still see the evidence of bullet holes in some of the barracks from the attack. In these days of uncertainty let us not be afraid, but ever vigilant of an attack from enemies that hate America, not because of you and me, but for what she stands for, Freedom and Liberty. As Benjamin Franklin said, “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” ”Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither.” There are people in the world that believe the American people have lost their resolve, and while that may be true of some politicians, let them come here and threaten us and they will see the resolve the American people have.

I was amazed to learn that Pearl Harbor survivors can have their ashes placed in the USS Arizona monument.

My aunt who passed a few years back was there that day. She never spoke much of it, but did show me where the planed flew in. Visiting Pearl Harbor is a sobering experience.

Weather bulletin; It's not going to snow this winter!!! A friend of mine and myself have bought not one but two snowmobiles this fall so I haven't seen anything yet but a couple inches in Montana. I guess I can only hope that will solve any chances of snow!!! Lol

Here are some action shots of my loader bringing in some fire wood for the winter. Always surprises me what the little guy can do. For those who are on the fence about getting a wh loader, it was a sound investment for me, and has save me a lot of hard work.

What's go'in on anyway. 40 and 50 degree weather in December. Rain yes, snow no. Ice in the morning means a sore rear end and a clear view of the early morning sky...(don't ask me how I know that...) New cab, 2 520H tractors a front blade, a single stage snow blower and green grass..... Gonna put on new LED cab lights and amber LED strobe beacon this week and maybe the mower deck.........

Hello everyone! I just purchased my first Wheel Horse Charger 10 and it came with the snow plow attachment. My first ever horse, just needed something to plow my driveway. Unfortunately the hydraulic ram is missing, but I'll make due. It has the automatic transmission and seems to be cold blooded as the choke is disconnected/missing. It idles good once it warms up but bogs down when going faster and up a small incline, I suspect the fuel filter/carb and jets need cleaned. I have no idea what year it is, as the PO spray painted everything red. Needs some tinkering, but I need to tackle the fuel issue first. Anyhow, I plan to be an avid reader of this forum. I paid $320. Sean in Dayton

I use this tool almost daily.I've had it for a good twenty years. It's a simple tool but does a great job around the shop. It's my air blow chuck. After every use of tractors or equipment they get a good blowing off. With the 1/4 in extension pipe of 2 1/2 ft. it's easy to get around and under my equipment. I use it also to clean the shed,it's my air broom. It easily gets under benches and I use it for the bench tops and stuff hanging on walls.

It's addictive. I started out with one that I had for 21 years. Went searching for a good mower deck and now I own 5 tractors, 5 decks, plus other attachments!

Absolutely. I am a member of other types of forums (not WH tractors), have been for years, and this is the best forum I've encountered. It's like a great brotherhood or family here. No bickering or name calling and good clean comments. I'm still a new guy here and I'm getting to know some of you all. I am convinced that no matter what issue there is with a WH or implement, someone here has the answer for it. It's the best forum ever and I appreciate everyone and the advice and knowledge that is freely shared here. I have learned so much from the forum myself. Lots and lots of great info. Thank you to all the members, moderators, administrators and all the powers that be. I have every intention of becoming a supporter just as soon as I'm able. Too much $ going out the door this time of year, with taxes, insurance, license, Xmas etc.

I want to share a story. A couple of weeks ago a fellow was looking for a WH part and I had what he needed. We agreed on a price shipped to his postal address. He sent the money a day before I sent the package. I don't think either one of us were worried about being ripped off. Well I received the payment and he received the part. After the buyer saw the cost of shipping, he sent me a PM stating he was going to send more money as the cost of shipping was more than that of the item he bought. I said that wasn't necessary, as we had agreed on the price and I was fine with it. A few days later I received another letter with some more money for the part. This transaction actually happened on another forum, but we both are here too. I just wanted to say how comfortable it is to deal with folks here (and some other places) because we share a common interest and feel a closeness to one another even if we have never met in person. A really big thank you to all my friends here at Red Square and another big thank you to the mods and folks that keep this forum up and running!

Wow does work good, If you wouldn't have told us those tires are 50 YO I would have been the proverbial monkey's uncle. I did notice that Miller's wasn't exactly given the stuff away either. Been there done that......not since I was 12 years old and with bicycles tho... Typical "I can't wait for the paint to dry to work on this tractor" mentality!

Great thread, I got my D180 with the pto mower a tiller a box blade and a scraper, all for next to nothing. Had to do a complete rewire, buy a coil, and make the valve handles that said, It was missing the part of the PTO that hooks to the tractor and slides into the part of the PTO on the mower and tiller making them both just weight on the back of the tractor. I've been told that you just can not find them anymore and so far I have not located one, I did finely find a 1" 15 spline shaft on ebay, the guy had 5 left and said he didn't know if he would get anymore in, so its on the way now I'll have to try to find the knuckles to make the pto. SO if you do get a D make sure all the extra parts are with it, the extras are really hard to find

I have used an "old time" trickle charger as a temporary, make-shift float charger by powering the trickle charger off a 24 hour indoor timer. I set the timer for the least amount of ON time possible - usually 15 minutes - per day. This setup will definitely keep the battery from overcharging and keep it topped off.

I have both a sweeper and a tow behind sweeper. Both agri fab. Both older and both bought used. I was really amazed how well the sweeper did in my "yard". I don't have much grass due to poor soil and lots of shade but it still picked up pinestraw and gumballs. It does work even better when sweeping off of grass. I don't mow when I pull it because I get a lot of dirt swept up and in my field I don't want to use its capacity for grass clippings. The three drawbacks for me are the limited capacity, the frequency with which I get the tipping rope wound around the brushes (user error) and with uneven ground it skips over yard debris or the wheels skip. The vacuum also works well and has a larger capacity so I use that for grass. The drawbacks with it is that it is cumbersome and noisy. The added vacuum does help with the uneven ground. Although the trailer on the vac tilts, that feature is basically useless. It is hard to get to the release and when the trailer is full its too heavy to tip. Either one is still a hell of a lot better than hand raking and dragging a tarp or using a small garden tractor yard cart to haul the debris.

Well....They're done. Almost. I pinched a tube while mounting the first one, so I I'll have to get a tube and remount one of them. Might paint the letters on the tires too. Here's what I started with. Wet Paint. Drying. Dried. Mounted. Close up. Amazing stuff. Soft satin finish. Matches the tires on my other tractors in color and sheen. Can't tell that these are 50+ years old. Does not look or act like paint. More like a dye. It seems to penetrate. Can't scratch or scrape it. I mixed 4 oz of color with 4 oz of water. Used about 2 oz total. Only 1 oz per tire. This stuff goes forever. It covered the old stains with ease. Nothing bleeds through. Dries fast too. 45 degree day and I was able to mount them less than an hour after painting. I used a foam brush. Worked good. No brush marks.

The tensile strength of a 1/16" cable is enough if there is no rubbing to fray it but 1/8" is better.A trip to your local Lowes , Home Depot or hardware store will get you some plastic coated clothes line .The coated steel cable is what WH used. You may have to search to get the clothes line that is the right thickness to be clamped up but you can always strip the coating off at the clamps.Hope this helps,JAinVA.

The last thing I needed to do was swap out the oil in the walk-behind....so I figured I would get the "crew" together for a photo-op after the oil swap. Both tractors have 48" blades, the 314 has a standard 3 sector and the GT1600 has a 5 sector. It was kinda weird working on snow equipment in 55 degree weather! I suppose that's better than trying to get em prepped in 30 degree weather!! Mike.....

Wow Dennis, those are some very deep and subjective questions. As to worth, value, and price, none of those can be quantified by anyone but you, well they can, but they won't mean diddly. First of all, the more optioned any tractor is the greater the worth. I would not buy a D series without a 3 point or rear PTO unless it was very, very cheap, the 3 points are 350 dollars on auction sites and the rear PTOs are running between 175-250. The 16hp single cylinder kohler powered and 18hp twin kohler powered were the fewest made, so as for value I believe these to be a premium. The twin onan powered while an excellant engine in the day will cost a fortune to rebuild, and it will need rebuilt, they all will someday, probably right after you buy it. By far most of the rear PTOs I see are on electric PTO D160 onan powered tractors, but you must decide whether or not you feel like shelling out 500-700 for a rear tiller before the rear PTO even matters. The 3 point and fast attachment options are a different story, as are other implements such as a blade that is for a D series only. I would rather spend 1000.00 for a decent D180 with a deck, 3 point, and front blade, than I would to spend 500.00 for one with just a deck, but I am in Oklahoma and every attachments comes from far away, but even so, the time it takes and the uncertainty of getting a decent attachment add into the equation. The PTOs and 3 points come up on auction sites and craigslist, but remember you also need the cylinder for the 3 point, the coupler, and double pulley for the PTO, often these are not included in the auction. Best bet is to buy a complete tractor with attachments and options now and save yourself a ton of headaches and sorrow later. I'm sure others can add to what I have said and even offer a different point of view.
