8 pointsFirst two day weekend I've had in a long time & decided to spend that extra day in the garage working on a few Horse's. First I serviced & finished putting the 310-8/Kwik Way FEL tractor together. I rebuilt the carb, changed the points, plug, condenser, air filter...changed the oil in the engine & trans. New drive belt, clutch spring, checked to make sure the hub & pulleys were snug. Hung a set of wheel weights on it & fastened a counterweight to the hitch. Still have a few things to do yet (easy steer conversion), but pretty much ready to go to work. Also brought in a clean C-85, but non running that I picked up last week for cheap. I neglected it & let it sit outside this past week out in the back yard where it was covered in snow from Saturdays snowfall. My Argo came in handy for dragging it around to the front of the house where I could get it in the garage & start dethawing Checked all the fluids, changed the battery, added some fresh gas & it fired right up. I think I'll put my weighted rear tires on it & use it this winter as my snow pusher.

7 pointsJust thought I'd post my new (used) 2000 314-8 I found at a local dealer, only has 215 hours, with a 42" RD deck in excellent shape. This makes the 5th one for my herd. Looking forward to mowing next year with this instead of my SK 482.

5 pointsLook what I found on my trailer this morning ! Was that extendable foot rest a WH option? Found this in the truck bed. I did drive by Steve Farmers Auction last night after delivering some horses to their winter storage barn in Red Lion. It was after dark...maybe that's where it it jumped on .

5 pointsHere is a few more picks...The 1st snow is always special. Took these today. BTW, the 702 did a very nice job clearing my new drive way. We got 9" of the white stuff...heavy and wet...lots of trees and power lines down. We did not have any ice on Saturday. Stupid geese are flying into tree branches and landing on the ice like it is still wet...what a riot. :)

4 pointsI inherited two rifles from my very favorite Uncle after he past away in an auto accident in September. An old Spanish Mauser 98 with a sporterized stock chambered for 243 Win. The other is a 1950's Savage 99 in 308. I have shot both and knew that each gun was sighted in for my Uncle's poor eyesight and flinch. Each at 100 yards shot 7 inches low and 3 to 4 inches left. I dialed in the 243 in no time using 7 shells then put a three shot group in the black and called that guy done. But..........................I have a 788 Remington with a light weight maple stock in 308. I always thought it kicked hard. Nah! It has nothing on that Savage.I was able to put a three shot group in the black and also had two friends shoot it to confirm it was benched in and not flinched in to my characteristics and to have them tell me if they thought it was a mule. They each hit the black and both said it kicked harder than their Winchester short mags. I personally shot that bi*#h 10 times before letting it cool and throwing the three shot group in the target. 17 bucks for a box of shells! A gun that is zero on at 100 yards. A shoulder with an arm I can't lift over my head or straight out! I'm going to be real productive at work on Monday! Glad I'm not hunting bear this year. I have one week to heal!

4 pointsHere is our "winter wonderland" and a couple pics of my hubby, Rich, putting the Honda powered 520H and the 44" two stage to good use. Very wet snow about 8" deep. I had trouble posting using Internet explorer. I switched to Google Chrome and posting was fine. Red

3 pointsThanks Brian! I'm guessing this is why it has the auxiliary feed bag: The tractor & mower deck are both 1994 and the blower is a 1993. 710 hours on the tractor and it needs some TLC ~ especially in the wiring department.

2 pointsBob...mathematically Michigan has a shot...you need to just feel good about that. You know, as well as I do..."if you have dung in this hand and if in the other and you clap your hands"...well we all know what that does. The east is wide open right now, and I don't think John cares who Iowa plays. The 3 east teams have all the pressure...Iowa is just playing lowly Nebraska...I think...the most dangerous college football team in the nation....but what do I know...I am down there trying to get a beer and a doughnut out of Koen. Here is what I think....and this is crazy. 2 undefeateds left, Clemson and Iowa, sorry John...I just can't believe either one of these teams is going to run the gambit. More power to them if they do. Personally, I would like to see Iowa do it this year. Here is what is going to be totally crazy...If they both end up with 1 loss, you will have about 14 one loss teams to choose from for that final 4. I would not want to be Iowa in that situation...they are just not getting the respect yet. They need to go into the Big Ten championship game at 12 and 0...loosing to Nebraska will leave them at the mercy of the committee. If Michigan sneaks into the Big Ten Championship game...it means that Michigan St. and Ohio St. have 2 losses...I think we all know what that means. I don't really see Clemson getting in with out a loss. Iowa has the in road...they just have to keep winning. On a side note...Notre Dame used to have some really cool uniforms, and one of the best fight songs. What is with these pajamas that they are wearing on the field. I am expecting to see all the ????? from a Batman movie. :)

2 pointsDamnit! :^( I see I forgot to pick that game!!! Oh well sh*t happens I guess! In my mind I picked Em but oh well! On the Who Goes thing if Mich State wins next week they will play IOWA If They Loose And OSU Looses to Michigan then we Michigan are going to play Iowa. If MS Looses and Michigan looses to OSU then OSU will go.

2 pointsI was told about this incoming 520H way back in early July by the owner of the dealership where it was to be traded-in. It took this long to get things worked out, but it all came together last Saturday.

2 pointsI used a 3:1 mix of diesel fuel and Marvel Mystery Oil to free up a 12hp Kohler. Poured in about a half pint thru the spark plug hole, and soaked it for a few weeks. Then slowly worked it free with a breaker bar and socket on the fly wheel bolt. The engine is now running smoothly with no smoking, and I didn't have to pull the head. Worth a try, and should work if the engine is seized from just sitting unused (as opposed to overheating from low oil). Also, might want to drain the old oil, and see what comes out. Good luck. Jim

2 pointsSalvaged this Work Horse, sat in Leon Redbone's barn for 10 years. Added the 48" plow and height adjust. Came with a new, unused, 48" SD deck and mule drive. Total cost? $0.00! Paint, seat, lights. Ready for snow although we did try a bit of mowing and snow pushin' last year before detailing this Stallion. https://youtu.be/nGNyA9q4TkA

1 pointStarted on the 1045 restoration, will try to update as much as possible. This tractor made it's way from the Big Show to Minnesota. Has been sitting since, felt like doing a little blasting today, also had time to break off a bolt on one of the foot pads.

1 pointI've used a 110 Savage in .270 Win 130 grain PP for 50 years for deer, antelope and bear. It has managed to cut me a new eyebrow at least 3 times. Usually in Montana shooting up from the bottom of a canyon. About 10 years ago I won a Winchester "Shadow" in .223 WSSM (Winchester super short mag). I retired the 270 and have used the 223 ever since. It pushes that little 64 grain bullet a couple hundred feet/sec faster than the 270 with a lot less kick and noise, and is devastating on deer, antelope and turkey. The bad.....$2.00 a round if you can find em.

1 pointTo polish black knobs and handles I use a cloth disc on my bench grinder and a stick of white rough polishing compound from Lowes. It works good on the black bakealite shift knobs. it also works good on the plastic knows but you need to use a light tough or you can burn the plastic.

-
1 pointThat's what I want to know Mike. What happened with the trans. I was thinking that the old one might clean up OK. The only thing...I might have changed out the bevel gear differential. Tom, the horse is starting to breath life...excellent job Mate.

1 pointSuccess....after many disappointing nights not getting anywhere with this exhaust bolt, I finally got it out without breaking it. I wasn't having any luck with the dead blow impact, the center for the Allen tool was to ate away. I ended up using a chisel to break free the lock washer & relieve some of the pressure on the bolt...then with vice grips & some wiggling it started to free up. Now I can get busy prepping it for installation in my Steiner Turf Master.

1 pointWell just for the record, I've cleaned up my '77 B-80 every fall for the past twenty-one years, before attaching plow blade and chains for winter. I blow it off with compressed air first to get the dust and leaves. Then I clean off grease and oil gunk and grime with kerosene or mineral spirits in a spray bottle with a parts cleaner brush and rinse off with garden hose. Then wash it with soap and water, clean tires and wheels with Westley's bleach white tire cleaner. I avoid spraying water directly in behind the instrument panel, the plastic cover is still there behind the gas tank (I remove it and blow out before washing). I blow off excess water with air compressor. I've never had any problems with rust or corrosion or electrical issues. Never pressure washed it. I've never wiped it down with WD40 or anything to inhibit rust. I would think that would make it a dust magnet when mowing. I keep it in an outdoor shed in summer and heated basement garage in winter. I do like to keep it clean. I like the looks of a clean tractor or any vehicle, especially the wheels and tires. It's a lot nicer to work on a clean tractor too. I'm going to take a trip to the car wash soon with the C-105 I bought recently because it's such a gunky mess. I'm planning to let it run while I'm washing it. I was going to borrow a pressure washer and do it at home, but I figured I make a mess, so I'll leave the mess at the car wash instead of at my place.

1 pointSo I have been working on this on and off last week, this is were I am at. Took tires of rims, sand blasted the front two, paint was thick, not sure what it was but some of it was stuck on pretty well. The back ones will be more fun as they have most all the paint on them. Pulled tower and steering wheel, may be on the look out for a better steering wheel.
