Here we go again.First leaf pickup of Fall. I have about five acres of oak, maple, poplar, cottonwood and pines that conveniently shed their leaves this time of year. I got the 520 out and checked her over added some grease here and there. Then went and got the Jacobsen 720 sweeper out. Adjusted the chain drive and greased the bearings, little air in the tires and charged the battery. I got this sweeper about 7 years ago now off from ebay.I told the wife that if I had to pick up one more leaf and branches the old way i was going to sell the place. I've had a trac vac and about wore it out over the years and the wife and I would hand rake around the trees. It was so darn much work. So I was clicking through ebay and stumbled upon this sweeper. It sounded good to me and it was something I hadn't seen before. So I'm thinking should I or shouldn't I bid. Oh ya had to have this back and time saver.I emailed the owner. He was the supervisor of the parks department for a small town. He said it worked good and they were just updating it. Well the small town was outside of Green Bay Wisconsin and me living by Saginaw Michigan.450 some miles away. Still I had to have this machine. Well I won the auction and started packing for the trip.Landscape trailer that I had to put new seals in and grease the bearings, fix the lights gas the truck up and away I go. Trip was uneventful except for putting gas in the old Chevy, Any how here are some pictures of the 520 and the sweeper. The machine is amazing and picks up the leaves pine straw good size limbs and twigs. Even picks up a lot of the dreaded acorns. Some of you have seen it before in some earlier posts.

it was free!! I haven't posted in here much lately and I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so Mods feel free to move this if you need to. My Sister and Brother in Law recently bought a different house and in the deal he acquired a nice John Deere tractor with a vacuum for leaves. So he decided to give me his other tractor which is five years old with 79 hours on the clock. He knows I've been struggling to keep up with the Horses with all the health issues. So yesterday he delivered this to my house.. It's a nice little D110 that will be a grass cutter here along with one of the Horses, either the B60 or B80, whichever we choose to use any given day. The Horses will get more rest with the new helper. No, I'm not converting to the "Dark Side" but it's hard to no to accept something this nice and especially from a class guy like my Brother in Law Bob Weeks, and my wonderful Sister Lois.

Picked up another C-175 last weekend. this one is an 8 speed. Found it on CL locally for a pretty good deal. Of course it's a series 1 with a hole in the dipstick side of the case. The guy said he had it running but oil was spraying out of it... go figure the plan for now is to take the motor out of my Auto, I need a worker tractor (plow/snowblower), not a mower. but as push comes to shove.... I'm having a real hard time with the thought of taking apart a perfectly working machine.... Brotha can you spare a KT17? (or at least the dipstick side case half, lol )

Here it is. Not pretty but it works. Already used it to move gravel and dirt around, works great..

The lesson here is to know that sometimes things get crazy...it takes people that want to be friends through all of the BS that happens in life. It is not about the fight, it is about standing back and realizing and LISTENING to the other side and seeing that you still want to be friends and right and wrong just doesn't matter. Because there really is not really any right or wrong. It was just a misunderstanding and once you see that...you make the phone call and start the healing process. Communication is the secrete that keeps relationships going. We were able to work things out and this will make us stronger.

Jim, Well said, Steve and I have been on Skype for the past two Hrs and on Red Square doing Tests on exactly what you are talking about. This was all a Miss understanding and we were all wrong and should have handled the whole thing differently with conversation with each other instead of coming up with our own conclusions and reasons. Things can spin off and out of control in a hurry. I am chalking this up as a lesson learned and I help everyone else does the same. ~Duke

Hello, I'm new to this site, so hopefully I'm posting this in the right spot. My father past away late last year and left with us, among other things, his favorite Wheel Horse tractor. It stopped working about a decade ago and has been sitting in the shed ever since, but it was always his dream to get it running again. I don't really know much about tractors, but I have to say that it would be really neat to get it working again. As you can see from the photos, it would need a lot of work. My dad wanted to have it as a functioning tractor, so before he passed away he bought a newer engine to mount in it in order to get it working with the hopes of rebuilding the old engine eventually. There's a guy who works on old tractors that we know who said he could install the newer motor (not the one in the picture) and get it functioning with the deck for about $400. He said he could also rebuild the old engine eventually, but finding parts, etc., would take a bit of time. I looked all over the tractor itself, but couldn't find a model or serial number. Judging from the serial number on the engine and doing a Google search, it looks like it could be a 1961 Wheel Horse (maybe??). Here are my main questions: Is this a hopeless project or could this be worth restoring? If it is worth it, should I be getting it sandblasted and repainted first? Does sandblasting and repainting drastically increase/decrease the value (I'm not planning on selling it, but if I were to restore it, it would be nice to do it correctly--just in case one were to sell it eventually)?

Since you had congealed junk in the float bowl it is reasonable to presume that the rest of the little passages have some junk in them also. Get a spray can of Seafoam Carburetor Cleaner and a can of Seafoam Liquid fuel additive. Add the recommended amount of liquid to your non ethanol gas and start the engine with the air filter removed; while running at half throttle sprat liberal amounts of the carb cleaner into the carb until it nearly stalls, let it clear up and repeat several times. If you aren't using ethanol free gas go to buyrealgas.com and put in your zip code, they will tell you where you can get it. Give it a try and let us know how you do.

There is definitely a problem with the hide / unhide feature. I hid one of my posts as an experiment and couldn't find the post to unhide it. Something has changed along the way that will likely need Karls attention to fix. I had to have Steve find it and unhide it for me. We used to be able to still see our hidden posts so we could restore them to the thread. I know this because I've done it in the past while exploring new features after the relocation of the site. It seems every year we have some sort of controversy surrounding a particular member and frankly I've grown weary of the whole situation which is why I usually just post my picks without a lot of comments. Hell I'm just not that football smart and I'm definitely not into it as much as some of you. I don't have the desire to search team histories or study it like some guys do. But hey, if it's what you love and you enjoy that part of the game then you're a better fan than I am. I do occasionally post a barb at you Duke just because. I try to keep them light hearted and funny, the kind of thing I could take if posted at me. And believe me, if there's anyone who understands about health issues affecting your plans around here, it's me. Now that we've hashed this thing to death again this year maybe we can get back to having some fun in here and just enjoying each other with all our little quirks and oddities that make us unique. I don't have near as many quirks as the rest of you chitkickers, but we'll see what develops toward the end of he season. There's a long way to go yet and it ain't looking none too easy for several teams going into the final stretch. Come on Saturday, and Go Bucks!!

We all know how much it hurts to be plowing or blowing snow on a cold winter day or night with the wind howling and your teeth chattering and the runny nose turning into twin ice sickles and the snow and sleet on the glasses making it impossible to see where we are going, RIGHT!!!!!!! We need a cab....... Soft or hard sided........Factory or universal, or..................... The dredded HOME MADE MONSTROSITY.......... We need .......HELP!!!!!! I have looked for the regular Wheel Horse hard top cab. very hard to find anywhere near Iowa anyway. I have seen outragious prices for old torn and broken ones on the popular auction site that begins with an e. People that got em, keep em at least in the area I live in. Craigs list no help in Iowa. so.................... Has anyone had any experience with any kind of universal cab that is 4 sided? Any advice or suggestions? Bercomac in Canada makes nice 34 or 40 inch wide soft cabs. $400 plus dollars +customs charges+tax only sell to there dealers. Still seems to big for 520H Maybe I should just put a plastic 30gal garbage sack on and give the neighbors something to talk about. They think im nuts anyway

If I am going to remove a needle from a running engine, I completely close it counting the turns, I DO NOT turn it in tight, just snug. After removal of the needle and cleaning, I re-install the needle snug and back it out the original amount of turns. This is a good place to start. You will just have to "fine tune" (adjust) the needle from there. You can also find the information in our manuals section to help you adjust your carb.

All the clothes have to be picking up that gear oil smell. Talk about making a woman attractive, now there is a scent that works on tractor guys. I love em when they smell like gear oil.

Ford wheel spacer. found at most Auto part stores. I recommend using longer 7/16" fine bolts and 7/16" car lug nuts to hold them on though.

On my 1989 520H, I removed the engine mounting bolts so I could lift the engine to re plumb the drain pipe. I used the high temp, oil resistant yellow Teflon tape and a drain valve from another brand tractor. A John somebody? I attach a plastic tube from the drain outlet down to the container when I do an oil change.

It's OFFICIAL--I like this tractor for plowing!!! I drove 230 miles to attend a Plow Day in Iowa this weekend and took the 314 and my Cub 100. The 314 did a great job with the new belt and fresh weights! The coolest thing about the weekend was taking my son and daughter with me. She is only 8 years old but she begged me to go along and then begged me to let her plow. The 314-8 isn't exactly the most "kid friendly" tractor with manual lift and GD tranny. However, I seized the opportunity and let her have "my" seat! She loved it! We were plowing a field that was nearly a quarter mile long and so I would sit half on the seat and half on the fender to get her started in the furrow, then I would jump off and let her at it. She took to it really quickly and kept wanting to plow another round! My good buddy took this pic from across the field. I'm pretty sure I walked several miles behind her sucking dirt but I couldn't have been happier! I did get some seat time at the end of the day when the kids were worn out but I was happy to have them plowing with me for sure. I let a couple of guys drive the Horse who had never plowed with one before and they were impressed. They kept asking me why there aren't more at plow days... time to to bring them out, Horsemen! No one from the forum showed up at my plow day either. Lots of Cubs, lots of Cases, some JD's but I had the only to WH's at my Heritage Plow Day. These tractors do plow excellent and they are fun to play with. Thanks to all who encouraged me to buy this one--a good decision!!!

I have a GT1848 and it's been a great machine. I really like the smooth running Briggs. As you get some time with that hydro you will be hooked. The hydraulic lift with a snowblower on it is awesome. Like others have said if you have the room it would be nice to have both. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
