11 pointsI got my Wheel Horse No Name 10 a cpl. months ago. It came with 62 lb. home made wheel weights. I took them off, cleaned all the rust, painted them and made some decals. I used 1/8" pinstripe tape and ran a pinstripe around the outside then clear-coated them. Not too bad.

9 pointsBeen a long time since I originally started on this. At the rate I am going it will probably be a year or more to get it finished. Marvin

5 pointsFinally got my wheel weights cleaned up and painted. Thought I'd make them look a little nicer by making the WH logo with a thin red pinstripe around the outside. Turned out good, huh?

4 pointsThank you Michael Conley!!!! A great video to capture the event again! I think I am almost fully rested from the event. Wow what an event it was.....I tried to plow, I ran a disc, I met some folks all the way from California that were part of a research and development group (ask me about it sometime, you won't believe it!), talked to so many old friends and missed a bunch too! It was cold and chilly, but hey that is what we are know for!!! The machines were awesome, the plowing was excellent, and the friendships were the best part of the day. I am happy to report that we raised $1230 for St. Baldrick's in memory of the late Max Nunn. Thank you to everyone near and far that donated goods and bought a bunch of tickets. Thank you to Paul and Sharon for bringing Max's tractor to the event to help spread awareness about this awful disease. We will continue to push on in memory of Max......there will be a cure! My family thanks all of you for being such great guests and treating the property, and our neighbors, with the utmost respect. You are all a joy to be around. I became sidetracked numerous times and never did get a count of how many machines showed up, but it was a bunch! Thanks for bringing your machines to show.....it wouldn't be a show without all of you! October 2nd 2016 will be our next event.....we are hoping that you will be able to join us!

3 pointsFound this at a yard sale last Saturday. '79 C121 It has a good 42" deck. She runs but she's a smoker and it's complete. Seat is roached. It's pretty much all original, unmolested with the exception of someone has bypassed the ignition switch with a push button for some reason. Transmission seems to be in good working order. I'm not real familiar with the Hydrostat trans. My other WHs are manual trans, so I have a question. There is a lever to engage/disengage the trans. Is this supposed to put it in neutral so you can roll the tractor?

3 pointsJust got back from Scott's Meet and Greet last weekend with a couple of side trips on the way home. Indianapolis Motor Speedway Tour and of course Maker's Mark distillery tour, any time I'm in Kentucky, This was my first real Wheel Horse show and it was amazing! Many beautiful tractors. Scott and his family put on a great event. Met a lot of Red Square members and now can put some faces with some name. Everyone I met was very friendly and hospitable. Just what I expected. It was a little cold but even a wimpy Florida guy didn't think it was that bad. Still have my keister, Racing Bob. Did some trading with Jake with a 400 burb in some disarray for some 3 piece trans work. Jake and his dad, great people. If I ever do grow up I want to be like Jake. For a while it looked like I was going to be the one who came the furthest distance, but then I noticed some ladies who looked a bit out of place for a Wheel Horse tractor meet. I finally asked one of them where they were from and she said they had just flown in from California but were originally from China. Very impressive. Didn't sell my 520H wheel set or my steering wheel, nobody seemed too interested. That's when I noticed the truck bed looked empty so I bought another 400 burb with snow blade and a tub cart. Whats a guy gonna do. If we ever get a foot or more of snow in Northwest Florida, I'm set. Once, again I want to thank Scott and his family for putting this outstanding meet together, and I may be back next year! Who knows there may be someone from Australia next year since this thing has gone global! -Chris in Florida. Here are the pictures of the new burb.

3 pointsI must have gotten aggravated or had extra time somehow but I spent a ton of it on researching fuel system cleaners. I came away thinking that Techron was the best. It is and has been what I use in all road vehicles. I still use SeaFoam and I swear it has helped but when I researched and downloaded the MSDS I was wondering why it cost so much. I blended a version of it and have used it as well. Hard to tell. Sometimes nothing will help outside of some tools, time and parts.

2 pointsI would definitely replace the seal. I don't see the stop leak standing a chance. I don't like the stuff but I guess it does work on stationary seals sometimes but not on a one that's trying to seal to a spinning axle. added 10/08/15: Folks that came in late on this thread are gonna wonder why I mentioned stop leak. I could totally change this post or delete it but I'd rather leave them scratching their heads .....

2 pointsIt is obvious that you understand the laws of physics, having the front of the frame strapped down prior to adding the weight of the transaxle. very nice work

2 pointsIf we in the hobby had to justify our projects with "needs", there would be a glut of tractors on classifieds:-) I would love to see you see this to closure. And My vote is to re-do the C161.
-
2 pointsYou know I did...just to keep warm. Excellent videos Bob...you really get a different prospective from the air and a great feel for the show. You really captured the faces of the people there also. Bob, where are those group shots that MJ took???

2 pointsBack on dry land after last week's cruise. The Farm-Ette was made by Tom Moore Tractor in Mantua, OH. The frame would be yellow with red wheels. The Clinton engine would be their blue-grey. It would be from the late 1940's to 1950's. By 1960 they were only producing ride-on tractors that were red with white wheels. I may need to re-think the Bee Hind collection after my ankle exploit.

2 pointsYou didn't realize the cold, 50 degrees, not June weather by any means. There was too much action , equipment , tractors and friends to see and meet.

2 points@WNYPCRepair, The torque settings are different because the old bolts will have been stretched. I had to get all my parts from America and the postal and import charges to the UK are almost as much as the part purchase price, so returning isn't really an option. A piston is going to cost over £50 with the postage. If I take what the tractor cost, which I bought because I wanted the engine, and then add what I have payed out so far, it's getting to the point where I wonder if it is worth going forward. I still have my original 10hp motor which I have re fitted to my refreshed WH. And to add to my dilemma I have lost the use of the work shop at work, which had the back up of the mechanics on hand, and some of the specialist tools. What to do

2 pointsDownloaded a light meter app for the phone. First pic is two 12w LED bulbs (1000 Lux, 110W replacement, each) at 37 lux. Remember they are 11 feet or so in the air. Second pic is with the added fluorescent strip, 4 T5HO bulbs at 295 lux. So, 8 times the amount of light?

2 pointsHowdy Bert! I'm sure I'll be taking you up on that, thanks! I'll look for the October information.

2 pointsAt some point, it may have been broken when removed to replace a seal but, from the factory...you should have a three bolt hub there Van.

1 pointthis is an edit KEEP SCROLLING DOWN / PICS ARE POSTED BY JRBLANKE this is an edit Well after a couple of years keeping my eye open for a locally owned Round Hood, I finally found one today located about a 40 minute drive from home. I'm hoping James can post some pics of this thing for me as Karl and I still cannot figure out what happened when Red Square had a change this past Summer. Anyway, It looks good and runs quite well in my opinion. It has a slot hitch that works! Tomorrow it will get an oil change. It has a starter/generator Kohler engine and the serial number tag on the tractor shows the number #48441 Can someone tell me what this is based on the serial number. Craig AMC rules says its a 701 because it has the double pullys on the engine and starter. I believe Craig is correct on that due to his vast knowledge of Wheel Horses that far surpasses mine. I would like to know what information the serial number is giving me. Thank you. Hopefully I can get some pics of the tractor on here somehow. Oh, and it also came with a snow blade that I will sell if any of you need it.

1 pointIf you"ll kindly bubble wrap those weights, put them in a priority flat rate box and ship them to me, I'll return a clear photo of them on a horse..

1 pointI have both Dimple brand and Gold Plug magnetic on my tractors and vehicles. You would be surprised at what they pickup even though there is a filter.
-
1 pointNo, they're 2 pieces of one inch plate steel welded together. There's studs sticking out of the other side for alignment. They came up at 62 lbs each on my bathroom scale.

1 pointIs the K341 really as good as I've read? It's nearly twice as powerful than my 10hp so it should be noticeable right? I'm having a bit of a dilema on another front if I'm honest, as I've almost finished my refresh on the C-101 which happened far to quickly, I'm thinking do I just re do the C161 rather than just poach its engine? The thing is I don't have a need for two tractors that will do the same job, and I don't see them selling for anywhere near the investment put in. My pocket says keep one, sell one....

1 pointChevron Techron works well in my vehicles keeping fuel injectors clean. It is the only one approved by General Motors.I use it every oil change in the fuel tank. It works well enough it is available at general motors dealerships under the ac delco brand. I know this because I worked at a dealership for many years. It is more of a maintenance item not a mechanic in a can. For really bad cylinder carbon on piston rings and valves they sell GM top engine cleaner. My dad's truck has run on mobil 1 and techron for over 325k miles.

1 pointGreat win by Da Bares! I was listening to the game on XM driving home. "And here comes Robbie Gould. The greatest kicker in Bares history in to win the game!" Last time I heard that he blew it! Sexy Rexy proving why he'll never win a championship. Undisciplined mistake prone team. But he says in his presser I'll take a team that fights every time. How about using some brains once in a while Rex?. The Browns what more can I say but I wish we can give up playing in London but now they are talking about playing in Mexico too. and how about Suh at his presser. They ask him a question and he just says " Next question" Queenies gave the Donkeys a fight and the Rams. How hard are they to figure? Packer offensive line gave it's big boy pants to the defense this week and it showed. Roger sacked 6 times but the scoring defense is No.1

1 pointVan, the drive belt # is 9691, that is a 70" A belt, either a 4L700 or A68. I wouldn't be too worried about a new belt without having a belt guard, the guard is a big part of having the belt stop when declutched. The part numbers of the 552 and 701 belt guards are not the same, but that may just be because they have different decals on them; just have to try it. You can adjust the brake band per the manual and see if that helps. Looking forward to seeing the 701 and you. Thank you for the part numbers Mr. Schmidt. I was talking to Walfish on the phone today and he said the same thing about needing the belt guart to stop the drive belt from turning the transmission pully when the clutch is engaged. So I have learned something new about Roundhoods today. Well I should report on what I did to it today; I changed the engine oil twice. The old oil was full right up to the top line on the dipstick but very dirty. On the first oil change I put a few ounces of Dextron automatic transmission fluid in with the new engine oil to break up some of the carbon and other deposits in the crankcase that had been building up over the years. I let it the engine run and get up to operating temp then drained it again and went back with Lubrication Engineers motor oil. I love that stuff! Then I drained the transmission oil. That oil seriously needed to be drained and replaced with new. It was very milky from years of water mixed with the gear oil. I replaced it with some cheap Wall Mart 90weight but will change it again before Winter and put Lucas in there at that time. I like the Lucas brand because It seems to condition the rear axle seals as well as quiet the sound of rotating straight cut transmisson gears. Then I put some electric motor oil in the oiling port of the starter/generator. That unit seems a l ittle noisy to me. Does anyone have a good trick up their sleeve for lubing the bushings or bearings in the S/G without taking it all apart? Then I found a nice spring out of my general spring collection and fitted it to the the clutch linkage to take the slack out of the combination clutch/brake pedal. Last, I had noticed the ignition coil looked in poor shape, and the connections there were not the best so I replaced that coil and the condenser with a spare set that I had lput back in my stash of Kohler parts. The contact points looked in good shape so I cleaned them up and checked to make sure they were gapped correctly and now I have a nice spark at the business end of the spark plug. During that process I also richened up the idle circuit on the carb just a tad. I have to get whats left of the old gas out of the tank and put in some fresh non-ethanol gasoline. That I will do one night this week. Well, thats where we are with the 701 today. I'm looking forward to trying the 552 belt guard Bert has offered to pass forward to the 701. I'll report back on whether or not it fits properly after I get back from the meet and greet.
