7 pointsDecided to protect the old back. Here is the prototype of the first part of my transmission sling.
-
7 pointsPicked up another c160 auto today with tiller and all of its assorted hardware and a cultivator. Tractor runs and operates but isn't perfect.

6 points1918, lots of people available then to follow orders . . . .http://news360.com/article/312959668

6 pointshttps://www.facebook.com/bud.andrews.5/videos/560357740664624/ Hehehehe, I guess we toasted the muffler & stacks post pretty good, but I don't need to be marketed , lol . It's just my hobby, it don't have to make anybody happy but me. I had bosses all my life and it feels GREAT to be free since I retired ! I told myself that I wasn't going to be bent over somebody's fender screwing in spark plugs for them or some such nonsense, lol. I like my tractors and do this stuff so I don't sit around and become useless, it keeps me occupied. It's a pleasure to be here and yak with fellow Wheel Horse collectors. Aint no place I'd rather be, will probably see more of me when winter sets in, that keeps me in the house more. Everybody here has good ideas. There's only one thing I like better than Wheel Horses, I built this from SCRATCH ! It runs !

5 pointsWe had this excellent pine tree in the back yard, but it was just growing to big for the space, so we had to have it cut down. So now we have room for a garden again. I put the word out, "looking for a plow", and my buddy, Denny Clark calls me and says he has one and he will bring it to the Lasueur show. Fantastic. Thanks Denny. Time for a restoration. Took it all apart and wire wheeled the heck out of it. Time for paint...primed first...used Rust-o-leum red primer and Regal Red. Put it back together and ordered some stickers from Terry Dennis. Got the decals in a couple of days. I did get to practice "Watching Paint Dry", but the video will be when I get to use it. I was looking at all the pictures of plows on this site, and I did not see one that was exactly like this...and then Koen finds a video on U-Tube that is just like this in action. I think it really is a plow that Wheel Horse, maybe ordered and put their name on it.
-
5 pointsCraig, you should have enough tractors now to cover your driveway so you won't have to plow it!
-
5 pointsJohnsons wood floor paste wax works well too... shines up nicely, and protects from rusting.

4 pointsWith "The Summer that Wasn't" due to my accident and losing my buddy, Mrs. Sailor and I are going to be good to ourselves after all the recent trials and tribulations. It's a 7-day cruise from Quebec City to Boston. This is from the web, the Veendam in Quebec City where we will embark. It will feel good to be back at sea again!
-
4 pointsWell, I'm getting my RJ35 back together. I got it without a motor or pulley so I've got a few questions. What size pulley goes on the motor? I really don't need the double pulley or reversing disc yet. I just want to see if I can get it to move. And the motor is a Tecumseh HS50. Will the crankshaft be positioned differently changing the belt length? Here's the before and now pics. I had to paint it ... the gray and orange isn't exactly what I'ld call patina!
-
4 pointsThanks to Ed for providing me the motivation... got my new thumper all set up, and ready to go here today.
-
4 pointsI've said "THATS THE LAST ONE" so many time's NO one believes me any more. Went to a show in July no truck & no money 150 miles from home took me about 10 min. to buy a 704.
-
4 pointsGetting that tractor on the trailer was one of the show's "High lites" Along with Duke's blower, It fit like a glove!
-
4 pointsTo add to what Craig is referring to, the illustration on Miller's site doesn't do justice to how those tires look when mounted. Here's the same tire on my 654

3 pointsIt was great seeing everyone again. Brian and Jo surprised everyone when they showed up! Thanks for making the trip! It was a long day that's for sure but well worth it.
-
3 pointsWell, got my tranny from Frank at the Meet n Greet yesterday!! Yay!! Put my shifter in it, seems to shift gears good...cleaned and primed. Today I took the tranny loose from the RJ, tomorrow the new tranny is getting paint, when its dry in a day or two it'll be attached. Then on to getting a motor running...if I can get the k90 goin'. I'll just find me a predator engine, or something of the sort n slap on her, cause I wunna cruise.

3 pointsspread 20 tons of rock this morning, using the 520 w/loader and the d160 w/ loader and the C-195 w/ 2 way power blade.
-
3 pointsIt should be mandated to stamp. I have had boat trailers that took an act of god to get title transfers for as the vin foils have faded or peeled off.
-
3 pointsI just got done building a new shed, and I've got extra room, but I won't buy another Wheel Horse unless of course I can manage to find a 854, and the reason I want that particular tractor is because I was born 8/54

3 pointsIntermittent electrical problems always lead me to check the fuses and fuse block first. That fuse block is a weak point, and has been removed and replace on two of my machines--the two most reliable ones. Second place to look before you spend big money on a coil or ignition module is the 9-pin connector. The 520 electrical gremlins have come to visit! Amazing how often the problems are just corroded connections.

3 pointsmarvell mystery oil put it in a spray bottle lightly spray it wipe down, leaves a satin finish penetrates the original paint and doesn't leave a oily residue or odor that oil or WD gives,I use it on all my original horses & very pleased with it.

3 pointsSo today was a great day at Steve's! The weather was perfect (maybe a tad hot ), plenty of food and drinks and COLD BEER!! I actually got a chance to drive the 1956 Senior! Couple lousy cell phone pics (no I don't have a smart phone yet)..... Mike...........

3 pointsI did know so much time had passed since my last post. After looking at the Johnnie Bucket product , cost was way out of Ballpark. Decided to try to locate electric actuator under the seat pan. Found a 700 lb actuator at Mypushcart.com for $119.00 no shipping charges and also ordered Toggle reversing switch part number 27332 from Northern for $12.99 plus shipping. Look in scrap metal pile in and outside of my shed found 2 large pieces angle iron which my brother welded together and made brackets to hold motor end of actuator ( holes on actuator are 5/16 " ) he also welded an additional upright on clevis hitch. I remove seat , seat pan , gas tank and side pieces of metal under gas tank. I know the 310-8 needs a lot of cleaning , rust removal and painting. I did a quick attachment with C clamps yesterday to see if it would work. I know from the pictures that the actuator is not straight and tilted. I had planned to work on it today but that did not work out. Since the backyard is my work shop the ragweed is driving me nuts and project may take longer than I want. Please see pictures.

2 pointsSo a friend of mine bought a new lawn tractor for himself and was going to scrap this last year. I have fond memories of my parents neighbors old Wheel horse from when I was a kid ( which he still uses almost daily). So I offered him $100 for it all and picked it up with intent to repair. Its been sitting in my dads barn for the past 2 years and now its time to decide its future.. It runs pretty good save for a little blue smoke. I changed all fluids when i first picked it up. Here are a few pictures of it all. Very curious what you guys think here. I would very much like to get it somewhat restored. The main reason I grabbed it was because it has the snowthrower with it. I have a long driveway and this would be awesome. Its only a 10 hp so im not sure if it would be worth the trouble for the snowthrower. Anyway, looking forward to what every one thinks. Thanks Tom

2 pointsHad a few of the horses out this afternoon while I was working on a couple others. Here you go... L to R: C-160, C-120 (step-daughters new machine), 520 H, B-80 & D-200. The C-120 has been (poorly) painted orange, and needs to be RED. I told her she has 1 week to make it RED if she wants to drive it in the upcoming parade.

2 pointsThe bottom idler sprocket is your tension adjustment. It's mounting hole is slotted. Your best bet though is to remove the chain and check those idler bearings without the chain on. You can get a new # 40 roller chain from TSC. I run my chain with a 1/2" deflection

2 pointsWhile on vacation we came across this Cicada bug. I told my wife if she grabs it, it will scream just like a woman's scream. LOL I didn't think she would fall for it but she has no problem with bugs, snakes, animals ect. She decided to try it and took this video with her phone. Kind of funny! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyIG1MvClcc&feature=youtu.be

2 pointsI snagged a sweetheart yesterday, a C-165 8speed. I've been keeping my eye out for awhile for a big hp Black Hood with a manual gearbox and one popped up locally on Craigslist. I moved fast as the Connecticut WH guys are a quick bunch ! It came with a 42" deck, 42" plow with the rear bracket, Wheel Horse wheel weights and chains. It needs a battery as all the used tractors I buy need, but runs good as it is. The guy wasnt asking a whole lot but said "or best offer" so I offered a low price expecting him to meet me in the middle but instead he said "allright, sounds good". Heres few pics. Mike......

2 pointsI definitely agree Jim. That game and the Nebraska game stunned me. Even though I picked Miami I was pulling for the Huskers. Obviously I'm a happy camper tonight. I'm liking another quarterback from Ohio and watched a great defensive effort.

2 pointsI would like to take the opportunity thank everyone who made the trip today. In typical fashion everyone ended up pitching in and it became sort of a work party.... Jay brought over a monster chainsaw and cut the tree stump like butter. After a little while he asked if I wanted to cut anything else... Hum mm sure lets cut down that big tree. After perfectly dropping it he cut it up and then Ken b and I dragged the splitter and split it all. Craig moved the rest of the topsoil with the 522xi ad loader down around the barn and spread it nice. I just need to plant the seed and hay it. Kyle (fast 88) had his work cut out. He swapped cab covers on my 520 and also thatched the lawn. I had a blast and am real tired now... Good day for sure!!

-
2 pointsWhat did I say about Maryland? I consider them the Vikings of College football.
-
2 pointsNo the fuel tank on a 310-8 is mounted under the seat pan . I have to make adjustments left or right on the actuator placement due to the fuel tank. That is my next step, get the actuator in place using C Clamps and test fit the fuel tank. More pictures to follow. I noticed that a couple pictures were in the group from an early experiment using a a mechanical means as a lift. That idea sure did not work especially after it slipped off the workbench and fell on my left foot and leg.
-
2 pointsIt may have started life with a pull start Techy H60 for power, but I would leave well enough alone.
-
2 pointsHumm, first I've seen...an electric start 603. Looks like it's gonna clean up nicely too, good looking survivor there.
