9 pointsA few of you know I'm in the North of England - UK. I've just moved further North into the Yorkshire dales, an outstanding area with a great mix of wildlife, buildings, people and views. Much of our water for this area is sourced from the hills and flows into the main rivers in the area. These are the river Wharfe and river Aire. The valleys and hills are known as the dales and we get Wharfedale and Airedale as the areas. We have a canal crossing Yorkshire and Lancashire called the Leeds Liverpool canal - 126 miles of water and locks to Navigate. The reservoir was built to fill the reservoir in summer as the locks lose a lot of water when emptied! The limestone pavement is where the scene on a cliff where they filmed harry potter and the deathly hallows pt1 Here's a few pics of the scenery and a few of our local village shows where we can enter and be judged on anything from horses, eggs, handwriting, fruit, sheep, dry stone walling.... enjoy!

8 pointsWell I had a fruitful Labor Day weekend, scored this nice little guy from fellow member Joebrew1 for $550. I believe it to be a '61 401 with a Clinton motor Really nice shape and starts right up. Got it home and unloaded and was going for a little ride a around the ranch but the recoil rope broke and that was the end of that parade. But wait a quick removal of the recoil and a piece of starter cord wrapped around the recoil hub and I was able to start it . Everthing on this appears to be orginal. He was actually using it for a worker and had a neat little disk mounted on it. PO used it as a parade tractor. Came with a 36" RD deck that is also in really good shape except for the front wheels being toast. Going to swap the recoil out with a not orginal one I got and use this one on my other 400 work which was missing. Now excuse me while I go change my handle to WHX5

8 pointsHoward, ( 857 Horse ), Here's one you'll like ! This is my round fender 857. I put the stack up through the hood on this one, and when some one ask "how do you open the hood to put gas in it?" , I decided to put the gas cap up through the hood, too. I can check the oil with the hood down, so it don't have to be raised unless something is really wrong. It is my daily worker , mower, plow tractor. The chrome edge molding looks nice on these generator belt guards. It was a pile of junk when I got it, lots of parts missing. I made the generator belt guard for it from scratch, put a twin stick transmission in it , and then did the round fender conversion. It is one of my favorite machines.

6 pointsI know this might sound kinda hokey coming from me, but I'm thinking about something like a virtual prayer circle here. I just got news about one of our brothers who is facing some serious medical issues, and... I was hoping, without naming any names...we as a group...could send up a little prayer for one of our fellow brothers in need.

5 pointsThanks all for you very nice comments, I'm blushing, lol ! I'm just an old mechanic. I am gonna be a Supporter soon, will get that done shortly and then I can do some more posts ! This 700 WorkHorse is one of my favorites, I did the aluminum grill trick on it , cost maybe 3 or 4 bucks, ( Actually, I'm a cheapskate at heart, hehehehehe)

3 pointsAlways wanted a Pedal since when I am snow plowing I need an extra hand.... now I can use my foot. I went from the top since it would have been next to impossible down the middle of the tractor since I have the "rock shaft" for the rear 3 PT hitch. Works like a charm and I used metal and misc. parts I had in my "Hoard Pile". The top pedal is from a plow skid and the reverse pedal is from an old Dynamark tractor... for the operational lever I used a Sears Suburban Mule Drive engagement swivel and lever. Both Pedals can be adjusted up and down since the slid and lock via a pinch collar and nut on the back. It is very heavy duty and should stand the test of time. P.S. you can still use the Tee Handle if you so desire

3 pointsLove them, too . I didn't expect to ever find a 1045, so I put this 857 together, then a couple weeks later a 1045 dropped in my lap! It sits on the back burner, when I got it , the guy had it sandblasted and primed already. It's just waiting to be reborn. Probably this fall or winter..... Spent the day spraying some paint, Old Shep is gonna be a nice little show cruiser ! Can't wait 'til it's back together again.

3 pointsI think you have a great candidate for shows! You not only have an old D in great shape but you also have one of the cleanest and most functional "D" repowers I've ever seen. It looks good, its wheel horse tough and it has modern power with easy-to-find and cheap replacement parts. I think that's a winner! And I like the look of the V-twin from the sides! Thanks for the details and thorough write up!

3 pointsHere's one I couldn't resist, I took a Harley Davidson horn cover and made ( or "re-purposed") this. I lay for stuff like this on eBay and nail it when it when it's only a few bucks. It looks sweet on my K91. Dennis , all these are mine ! My wife's steady hand lettered the tires on the 700, she used a small brush and silver paint.

2 pointssorry to hear this, But I understand how difficult it is to travel for events. Our goal is a spring and fall gathering every year if there is enough interest......... keep in touch and if you'd like we could attempt to plan a spring meet n greet that fits your calendar as well as others

2 pointsI added the Seafoam Trans-Tune and let it run for a mowing session. The forward speed is now what I would consider "normal" for the 520-H. Whatever was sticking is back to normal. I did find a loose fitting on the lift cylinder that may have been letting air into the system as well. Everything is tight and runs great. Time for that hydro oil change and new filter.

2 pointsTime to load up for the Dover Olde Tyme Days Show. Decisions..Decisions The 520 snow machine is out... too hot in the cab and rough ride on the chains. The 312H has mowing duties this afternoon. The Green MTD gets to go cause he is banned at the Big Show. The 16 auto dually hasn't been out for awhile. The Commando 8 is just fun to ride.

2 pointsThey were placed there to reduce vibration in the motor. With shims and pins wearing out they tend to break with too much tolerance. It is far easier to remove them than it is to repair a hole like the one above.
-
2 pointsWonder why them square hooded 's... look so good with round hood fenders on 'em.

2 pointsWe had a nice day yesterday after a few weeks of rain and decided to pull out and chop one of the Birch trees that had fallen in the gill (creek). Bendy was on duty for heavy pulling and the little ranger on tow duty. I did have to have a quick test of articulation on C4 first - just to test first pull

2 pointsTh rear tires are also branded with the Wheel Horse logo, but they were made by Carlisle ( Turf Savers )
-
2 pointsShe sews and cooks good, too ! She restored the seat on the 700, bought and matched up the materials and stitched it back together by hand. She loves our tractors as much as I do ( that's half the battle, lol ). I have given her a couple tractors , the 700 and a 654, which is awaiting restoration, but she uses it around the yard all the time for chores. Oh, and YES Wheel Horse branded their name in many tires. They are the original tires.

2 pointsNaw, I can't make fenders , Dennis, they are stock from Northern Tool, but I can bend up belt guards and covers , etc. on my cheapie Harbor Freight metal break. I made the hood for the "FrankenPanzer" in the bottom picture. The top picture has the home made belt cover on a tractor that started out as a Commando 8, I had some round hoods and a couple fuel tanks, so I changed the Commando over to look like a 753 or 854 type tractor. An English Wheel is still on my wish list, lol.

2 pointsBeen working on my "jalopy" pretty hard the last couple weeks, It was my 657 that I flipped the frame upside down. It is still all original WH, except the sheet metal and the seat. Same rear end, frame, front axle, steering and engine. It's a centrifugal clutch now and the belt is routed under the floor pan. It's really working great, took it for a 4 mile ride the other night up along the back road by the creek. It's name is "Old Shep", lol It looks more and more like a little truck every day , so I'm building a stake body bed on the back of it now.

2 pointsHello, fellas, Thanks for liking my stacks. This is how I make them, they are good and heavy duty and should last for years. I was welding them together, but lately I figured out how to crimp them together and they look much nicer now, like the one in the last photo. It takes me about 2 hours to build one from scratch and the materials cost me between 10 and 12 bucks, depends on where I can buy stuff. I ask 30 dollars plus shipping ( usually 8 dollars more ) when I sell them through the mail. Thanks again for your interest , much appreciated ! I don't always have them made and on hand, I work in spurts, LOL It's just a hobby, not a job, but I like helping out with your tractors whenever and as soon as I can. I make reproduction Wheel Horse cigarette lighters and hood screws for round hood tractors at times, too. Thanks for looking, I am usually on Facebook at Wheel Horse Junkies more than I'm on Red Square, its much easier to get ahold of me there.

1 pointI spent Labor Day stuffing my trailer, and hauling booty north from Green Bay to the 520 ranch. The latest is a '95 with 390 hours and a ton of extras, including a nice 2-stage thrower with all of the original parts, a new 42"deck, a near new tiller. weights and chains AND a single bottom plow and spring tine. Everything is there, all the springs, bumpers, cowlings, levers and manuals. My trailer looked like it was pregnant with Wheel Horses! It was such a haul, that all the other 520's had to come out and look! More pics to come when I can figure out how to get around the file size problems.

1 pointThe 48" deck from the D series will work. It is, after all, only one of THOUSANDS that were stamped with very little difference. You will only need to swap-over SOME of the Tach-o-Matic lift hardware from your C series deck and bolt it onto the D series....not much to it. HOWEVER..... the D series deck uses the older Double D spindle-pulley-blade configuration and the replacement parts for that style are becoming scarce, if available at all. To preclude issues with that, if you want, you can even move the spindles, pulleys, belts and all from your C series onto the D series deck with very little complication. I'm not saying it is an immediate hook-up directly. If you can turn a wrench, you can swap over the hardware and it'll work fine.
