I decided to let them out, give them a really quick wash (can't wait until my wife is better so I have time to play) and snap a picture.

Hey everybody. Just wanted to show what I have done the old 518 h. I took the existing hydraulic lines going to the original hydraulic lift valve og put in a second valve. Made quick couplings and added a hydraulic cylinder to the dump cart I made a few years back when I bought the tractor. And now I have hydraulic dump cart, which is a very nice tool with the tractor! Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIO98S_tvdM&feature=youtu.b

Second is my 315-8 07 with 176 hours and is #163 i think haven't checked in a while. Third is my one and only 212-6 which is my new find with only 385 hours. Thanks! Dave

Really excited about finding this great 854 last week. Planning on spending some time this fall getting her running nice and showing the K181 some love. Planning on restoring the old girl over the winter. I will post progress pictures here as I get the project under way.

@Hank01 Put some risers on those new steps and most people won't even know what's underneath. Nice job. @Sparky Nice ramp. Just watch those composite decking boards when they are wet. I have seen them get pretty slick, especially if they have a little mildew (green stuff) on them. Don't want you sporting the RedSquare red hard hat next year.

Looks like poppa bear, momma bear and baby bear. Or in this case "Horse"!

Great Haul and with a U-Haul. Those are nice trailers with room to spare. and you do not not need to register it, maintain it, or have it take up space in your yard. Owning a trailer and having the Wheel Horse disease can lead to problems. Don't ask me how I know.

Ok...maybe not Evel Knievel quality, but it'll get my tractors in and outa the shed. My old ramp rotted out and wasn't safe for a 600# plus tractor. Built this today with new pressure treated stringers and some sort of composite decking that was left over from a friends deck project. Before someone points it out, the stringers are not evenly spaced on purpose. stringer's #2 and #4 are 30" apart (just like the wheelbase of my tractors ) this keeps the weight of the tractor always over a stringer. I know this is a lame topic but hey....its what I did all day for my tractors! Mike.........

Nice stuff! I think its time you added an "oldie" to your herd ......maybe a nice round hood? Mike..........

That's Okay Steve, I liked what I seen Thursday Night. Even tho it was a loss on Paper, If you know football the Game showed a different story. That was one of the Best Defenses we will play this year. Utah's Defense calls themselves Sack Lake City. Because they had more sacks per game 4.2 and over all PERIOD last year. https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/stat/sacks-per-game It don't look like they are off to a good start with Zero -0- Nadda. M's offence was a little hesitant in the first 1/2 but JH and staff made adjustments and it showed in the second 1/2 Something Hoke & Crew could never do. I like what I see so far and it is only going to get better. Michigan State for a #5 Team in the nation damn near got their lunch. They better bring more than that to Ann Arbor, or they will be going home with their LIP CURLED UP! I am totally shocked with Penn State! And Northwestern did the BIG a mighty fine job. as did Minn, Ill, Mary, and Rut. I would like to thank Nebraska for the fine Job in taking out BYU's QB. How's that song go "We Get By With A Little Help From Our Friends" Everyone have a great Labor Day. ~Duke

You gave me inspiration to paint the wheels on the 502 yesterday. Then today i took my baby girl for a ride and got about a mile away from home it started running very bad i thought the motor was toast and it turned out to be the carburetor was almost falling off should of known it was the carb considering its a tecky.LOL Had to ride home with the hood up so i could push the carb against the block was not fun but it never gave up on me

I know Rick...RMCIII and Papaglide must love doughnuts in the basement. Looks like Michigan St. is going to have the Big Tens 1st victory this season...Illinois has a shot at having the 2nd Big Ten victory this season. Hey, I was just flicking around looking for football games...because Michigan St is 27 to 7 vs Western Michigan right now and the Illinois game does not start for another 1/2 hour. FS2 is replaying the Michigan at Utah game right now...so if you want to see Michigan loose for the 2nd day in a row...turn it on. It might be a long, long time before you get another chance like this. Sorry Bob...this cigar store Indian made me do it...gave me $5.

Hope to get these and the transmission painted sometime next week and hopefully have a couple other parts ready by then too.. Tomorrow hope to dig around and see if I have whats missing of the lift setup think I may have what it needs somewhere. Also will be looking for a nice belt guard if anyone here has one they want to let go of please let me know. Thanks!

Well I found yet a another project to work on. lol. Been wanting a 701 for a couple years now but just never found the right deal on one. Got this one last week. Traded a 48" mower deck for it. Its in pieces but mostly there and not in too bad of shape. Has pretty much all the hard to find parts on it which is a plus. It will probably be on hold for a while but figured I would post it for now. I want to at least finish one tractor before I start on this one but that may change. When I do start on it I will probably just build a rolling chassis and then figure out what all is missing and find them then or sooner if I'm lucky. I did get the engine running yesterday and it ran pretty good but did smoke just a little bit. It will probably be torn down to inspect and at least get a valve job and honed but whatever it needs to be right will be done. Anyways here's a couple pictures of it. Its kind of scattered all over! It had the incorrect wheels on it, but I have a good set that will be used on it.

I think I'm going to take the cleanup rout for now, I'm in the middle of a few other restoration projects, so this little guy will need to wait anyhow, makes me just as happy looking at her with fresh paint as I am looking at her just like this. I could spend hours just admiring how cool these old WH tractors look. Stood in the shop for about an hour a few night back with one of my car guy friends , just drinking a beer and looking at it saying "man they don't make stuff this cool anymore"... think it even has the original spark plug wire and Delco internal resistor coil. .. new tires and a nice new paint job on the rims and maybe a satcover is all I think I want to do this fall along with rewiring it and a new key switch.

Nice find, I too will vote to leave original, you will only find it that way once.
  29. 2 points
Youll never get the original paint back. Im holding on to it on my 854 and theres much less left than on yours. If you want one to restore, ill trade you! Also a great candidate for a restore, just a little less factory paint left...
  30. 2 points
Nice original looking ... ditto on the clean up, and no restoration.
  31. 2 points
I have been thinking the same thing, I'm on the fence. She has a great look as is. Would be a great candidate to restore, but it is original paint so I'm going to need to think it over

Road trip completed. A few pics to show the 418C and Kwikway loader. Thats the 12 foot dual axle Uhaul trailer. Left at 5:00 am and returned at 2:00 pm @ 410 miles total. Trailer was a perfect tow both empty and returning with the load. nice start to the holiday weekend.

This NOS was an Ebay find for $30.00. I had a heck of a time finding a shop that would turn the crank down for anything near a reasonable price. Finally I was told about a small shop not too far from here. I took the crank in and he wasn't sure he could do one that small on his machine but was willing to give it a shot. He was successful getting it .010 under and I'm good to go.

The balance gears are the two smaller half moon gears that are on two separate studs. On the k301 you can take them out. The old K series are better off without them. There is s reason they call them grenade gears. When they or their bearings wear, they find ways to make a exit out of the motor. Usually by creating there exit hole.

I've been in and out of the fog with this exchange but some sunlight is coming through! So we ARE talking about the same tractor! And there's $2 thousand difference in price? Guess I'm not the only one experiences some fog... I've got a few small tractor parts/pieces coming shortly that I've committed to buy but after that I'm on "Pause" mode for a while.

I found a family owned steel business that makes sno-pushers near me that said to bring in the wearbar from the 54 inch Wheel Horse plow and they could make a rubber/composite wearbar or steel bar when they had the bolt pattern setup. Not sure of cost but I am going to check it out. Thanks for the suggestions !

If you have a new standard connecting rod available to you you could buy some "Plastigauge" to check the assembled clearance of the rod on the crank torqued to 22 ft/lb. The clearance should be at least 0.001" and not more than 0.002" as. This should be checked at the top of the crank's travel and on one side.

I have used kits from bat4kids and had good results, kits are good and they include some assembly tips. Good luck.
  46. 1 point
Get the rod first, the c/shaft should be sized for the proper clearance. That is what my machinist always makes me do.

I thought Michigan looked a lot better then last year. They could have won that game last night. They had a few high passes and the game would have been the other way...they are on their way up. You have to give it to Utah, they had their 12th man there last night...it was a good game to watch...even if you are a Michigan fan. Minnesota ended up playing the 2nd rated team in the country pretty tough. I think Minnesota is for real...some are picking them to win the West Conference. If you watched both games a little last night, you know they both had a Bowl Game atmosphere...excellent for the 1st game of the year.

OK, so I picked up a plow for my C-175 off CL, guy wanted $60 for it . (the guy said "hey you want that old snowblower attachment too?") tch... duh, free? c'mon! anyway, I decided to attach the plow and push some dirt around just for fun . That's when I found out that steering, controlling the height of the blade, and speed of the tractor (forward/reverse) was a challenge to say the least... Of course with the Sundstrand hydro, the available pedal mod is zilch. I thought about looking for a different Horse, but I like this one. so being a machinist, I made this... I took it for a test ride last night and it works great! As it stands, I was using both pedals to control the speed, the brake pedal moves the lever back toward the neutral position to slow the tractor down in either direction. I was looking at using springs for return to neutral, but it was pretty easy to just use the pedals. I think the rear PTO belt should clear too. Total out of pocket cost ~$42.00 for the pedal and Heim links. The rest, well I work in a shop, lol The only thing I regret is cutting original sheet metal... . there are a few of those belt guards available, so I could grab one just in case

I just checked and forgot I actually have to work the day of the meet & greet. I'm trying to see if I can get the shift off or do a shift swap with someone. I have a 40" Mid-mount grader blade I'll have there for sale. It's all cleaned up and ready to work or you can prime and paint it for show. I fabricated a new lift arm from plans posted here on the site. $200. I'll get pictures up later today of the blade. BLADE IS SOLD! Also for sale is a tow behind, ride on attachment I built. The seat is adjustable and it will fit a young child up to and adult comfortably. I will include the bracket I made that bolts to your hitch so it tows level and pivots smoothly during turns. It's just as you see it in the pictures below ready for parade or show duty. $100 (tractor not included) I also have a brand new generator I can bring. I have a listing for it here in the classifieds: Generator for sale. If there is any interest in the generator let me know ahead of time and I will bring it if I come or drop it off ahead of time.
