6 pointsWith the theme for 2016 being customs, I want to discuss with the WHCC board the following idea, but want to get your thoughts first. The RedSquare Challenge A month prior to the WHCC show, we will post on WHCC FaceBook page, WH Junkies (assuming both allow us to) as well as RedSquare that we will be accepting applications for 2 teams. Each team will consist of 2 to 6 talented guys. Each team will be given $250 and all of Friday to build a custom WH right at the show. At 6:00pm on Friday evening, the builds complete and the RedSquare members vote for the winner of the build. They need to be complete (not missing an engine) but do not need to run (after all it's only $250) The winning team keeps the tractor while the losing team forfeits their creation for the Saturday raffle. Teams will be able to purchase, barter or be given parts for their build but they can NOT source the parts themselves. Receipts need to be provided and they are encouraged to spend all the money, but any leftover is given back to RedSquare. All parts must come from the show vendors. Anyone is eligible to enter the contest, however voting is exclusive to RedSquare members. @kj4kicks and @BPjunk maybe you guys can give this some thought as well and if it sounds good talk with the Collectors Club?

3 pointsHi all, I'm new to this forum but I was lurking around researching before I bought my first Wheelhorse a couple of weeks ago. I bought a 520h and am really impressed with it. I don't know what year it is but it has the swept front axle.
-
3 pointsGreat pics Steve, it's good to put faces to names, I recognise most of the dudes except the geezer with the red head band , ain't got a clue who he is .
-
3 pointsThat's a really cool idea! Will be interesting to see how well that goes over with the WHCC.
-
3 pointsI didn't even get to go to the show, but I bought a tiller from @HokieAg07 and got delivered to the show and @KC9KAS was swinging close by on his way home and brought it back for me! Thanks guys! Awesome people in this hobby!

2 pointsBeing all caught up in the WH mania, I forgot and left my camera in the truck... so these are the picts my Mrs Rules captured. Here's the prodigy himself, Jake Kuhn...and his meticulously restored RJ and 401 Mrs Buckrancher(Jo) and Jay Holt(JayinNC) just before the start of Friday's WH parade. The Squonk(Mike), JayinNC(Jay), and myself(AMC RULES) checking my Mrs Rules new A-81 mower purchase. The reason why everyone calls me Bob at the show...Me and Trouty56(Bob)hamming it up. The RJ-35 guru himself VinsRJ(Vin)diggin' my new "Where's Craig" shirt. Steveasaurus, Jusgettingby, Racinbob, Trouty56, and myself all just chewin' the fat here. Me with the stainless steel master himself...Buckrancher(Brian) Mrs&Mr Woodchuckfarmer(Wayne)enjoying a cruise with one of their adorable granddaughters. Me and that Clintonut(Charlie)caught doing a little catch up. End of the day...Me& the Zeek after successfully loading up the Cheese Grater. ...and finally, a new RedSquare member here...Mrs Rules waving bye, as she rides off into the sunset on her new A-81 mower. I just wanted to say thanks again to all of my wonderful RedSquare family who gather every year at the big WHCC and help to make it such a glorious event.

2 pointsOkay, I'm going to be the old wet blanket. Here is the drawback as I see it. A similar idea was floated a couple years ago to have repair seminars and fix it/build it challenges. Though it sounded good, it never got traction. Mainly because there are only so many hours that you can spend at the show. I personally like to participate in or watch the parades, walk around taking pictures, looking, buying, selling, and talking with friends without having to be engaged in a time consuming project. I do not want to spend my time building a tractor. I do that 6 months out of the year before the show so that I can relax at the show. Just my 2 cents worth.

2 pointsThanks Craig. I re-read, what I guess I missed, and picked up on it. (Maybe I hit my head and didn't see it.)
-
2 pointsTook me a while to find this, but @TT did this video a few years ago that shows how effective a grader blade can be, but man, it can be a lot of work!
-
2 pointsThis sounds awesome. It will take some serious planning, and management but I would love a "Junkyard wars" live streamed!

2 pointsI have a 50" grader. Our vacation home has a 1/4 mile shared gravel drive. The blade does an amazing job cleaning up after the snow plow every spring. I've cut through grass and dirt. It takes multiple passes to do so. And go slow. If you're traveling to fast and it grabs something it'll cause you to lose control fast. I did prefer it on a manual lift vs my current hydro. Most manual tractors have a depth adjustment screw. It definitely did a better job keeping the road grade consistent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2 pointsA front mower. Been looking for one for ten years and got it for $90. Still unsure on how to hook up.
-
2 pointsEven with hydro you can't get enough weight and traction to really cut. It will never perform like a road grader. The grader blade is great for spreading out loose stuff. You can make several passes and skim off some material on each pass but as far as cutting down, you just don't have enough machine. Wonderful implement for driveways unless they are solidly packed. You may have to break up the gravel first.

2 pointsI'm with you Jason, next yrs. show is gonna be a doozy that is for sure! I'm sure Eldon is gonna roll out some of his finest creations and I know Wallfish the mad scientist is probably already layin out plans for his next creation...

2 pointsLast night I plopped the engine on my C-165 that I bought from Bill Jenkins at the show. What an awesome guy to deal with, It runs like a Swiss watch, Bills word is GOLD. He gave me a great deal on it as well! Its amazing how nice a shaker plate can be when you have an engine without serious internal headaches as my original 16 has.. I'll tear into my old engine this winter when I have more time... Right now the grass needs cuttin!
-
2 pointsThanks ken... was a great movie...always a favorite. Much more enjoyable to watch than...

1 pointAbout 5 yrs ago. I painted my 704 with the TSC Valspar Resto paint. As we all know it's NLA. I need to do some touch up work and want to refresh my C-160 which is painted the same. I drove 35 miles to Syracuse to the NAPA paint store. I took the 704 belt guard with me to get shot with their color code gun. I had to wait awhile because the gun was at a shop figuring out a color on a car. A very nice counter girl said why don't we get some chips out and see how close to matching the color we could come. A real Douchey jabrone of a counter guy said just using the chip was good enough. I had none of that and told him I drove 35 miles and I'll wait. The girl used a special natural light and found a chip that looked really good. Finally the gun showed up and she shot the guard and went to the computer. Then she smiled. The gun chose the exact chip she had out. and the winner is: Formula # 3-1-4896-00 It's Volvo color code 250 ALTERNATE 1 as of now all I know is that it is available in basecoat / Clear coat. When I have more time I will check on single stage and Enamel NAPA CAN PUT THIS IN SPRAY CANS IF YOU WANT! Pricey but what are you gonna do if you have to match something and you don't need a lot

1 pointBoth those guys were Hoosiers Craig! . I talked with them Thursday night for 30 minutes and had never met wither one of them at shows in Indiana (or elsewhere) before. We talked 953 and 1054 wheel horses. I hardly noticed the Tecumseh sign when I was standing there! The guy in the blue hat was named Lloyd Smith from Corydon (Harrison Co , Indiana and he knew a good friend of mine) !
-
1 pointMy wife made the comment that a GT could be built from all the parts available at the show. Another RS member told us that a few years ago some folks did just that....build a tractor. I think it is an awesome idea....after all the 2nd place machine is going to benefit the raffle.

1 pointDownload the manual from our Manuals section: http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/file/5010-mower-rotary-carrier-front-1980-1988-07-01mc01-02-om-ipl-810301r2pdf/

1 pointNo. Foot rests were a dealer option at additional cost. Most RJs do not have them. Although there are some pieces of literature with pictures showing them... speculation is that they were prototyped at that time the pictures were taken. Oddly, the option for foot rests is not listed on any copies of 1958 price lists that I've seen.

1 pointI have a couple of these decks and most have sum play up and down i would not worry about it unless its side to side movement. I had the same problem with the clipping flying out the front of my deck getting all over my face and the mower and when i looked at the front of my deck it was open when i looked in the manual i see sum pics with the front of the deck open and sum with metal going across the front so i got a peice of 1/8'' steel and bolted it across the front of my deck and it made the grass stay were its supposed to

1 pointI'll be there. Can't leave early like I was planning though, I'll see you guys early afternoon on Friday.
-
1 pointHi Paul, 2500 degree, (yea, right), ceramic Rust-oleum in a plain Jane metallic/aluminum finish. I cured it in one of our drying ovens where I work! I don't know how well it will hold up. I just need to do the wheels, change out the tires and get my seat back. I have some orange peel on the paint job but it's a lot better than some I have seen! I'll post a pic of the re-upholstered seat when I get it back.
-
1 pointSounds like the correct lift link. Is it in the correct hole in the lift lever?

-
1 pointNice seat. That seat style came out in 1970 and it is correct for your tractor. All 1975 "C" models came with that seat. The hub caps seam to end in 1973 but still make your C160 look good.

1 pointHey everyone, next year would be the year to make the trip!!! the feature is all custom tractors. I do not know about all of you but I cannot wait to see the custom creations that everyone has...I know the only big rule is that it has to be identifiable as a wheelhorse (not a cub or JD painted red...lol) ...
-
1 pointI am here Don Varos... and Mr Saurus sir..I tried to chat with you for a second or 2 on Friday after the Redsquare family photo...especially considering I may have grajeated your School of tree trimming..Alas though many people were vying for the ear of Dino. Hope we can chat next year

1 pointIt is about 650 miles from my house to the Big Show...1 way...about 1300 round trip. The 1st year I went, I won the raffle tractor...the bad thing is...I just went for my 6th year in a row. I should just move out there. BTW, I have gone to the show and picked up a few horses for a couple of guys that are in Minnesota...another 400 miles (1 way). So when you add it up, I have gone over 2100 miles round trip to drop off a horse. Shynon is getting one of those this year. WTF was I thinking???
-
1 pointgreat story! Yes its the tractors that bring us together, but its the friendship and camraderie that keeps us coming back! I didnt think pink flamingos were endemic to Central PA?!?
-
1 pointThis is really great news to hear ! I looked for used ones at the Big Wheel Horse Collector's Clun Show this last weekend and did not see a single one! Used or New!
-
1 pointI couldn't pass up the opportunity to pick up this 1949 Pond Walk Behind with two attatchments.
-
1 pointIm working on one but its a long term and cash project (LiFePo4 batteries = $$$$$). With the awesome variable speed capabilities of electric (100% torque at practically 0 rpm) I would be using a geared trasmission to maximize drivetrain efficiency and a foot pedal control of motor speed.
-
1 pointI've had this B for quite a few years now, and it's been my constant go to, and ALWAYS starts and is able to do everything I need it to, even when ... it probably shouldn't - haha With that being said, it's time that my favorite gets some TLC. It's going to be slow going ... as I'm still using it as my go to tractor. Sheet metal first - then I'll do the frame and other bits while the motor is at the machine shop. Will be using Base/Clear urethane and High build primer (its much more forgiving on the small imperfections when I block it out to be sure its straight) Pictures! Started with the seat pan ... It is in great shape just the paint is WAY tired so I'm just hitting it with some 60 grit paper on the DA. Geno media blasted this hood for me a week ago, Sandblasting profiles the metal so I had to run the DA over it too, but it's come out alright ... there are quite a few dents that need to be fixed but nothing 'major' - unlike the original hood. It's just in a self etching primer to allow me to bodywork it. Stay Tuned for more!
-
1 pointHey, that's a good looking Studebaker Grill isn't it? Now how many of you went back to see what I was talking about?
