9 pointsSo here I am, two days out from leaving for the big show, and at 6:30 this morning, I'm in the garage painting the black on the front of my hood. Well as of this weekend, I had serious doubts that this 416-H "refresh" would be wrapped up in time. But, I have persevered, and here is where I am 7 hours after putting the last paint on. and 5 month, 23 days after starting the project. I think she's coming to the show.
-
5 pointsSo, here is the proposed lineup of horses to come to the show this year. The 701, 857, 416-H, and the B-100.

2 pointsI had this set of hubcaps on the shelf that I was going to bring to the show to sell but then thought maybe throw them on the 520-8 in honor of Ken B ... A few people wanted some close up pics of the hood. Here they are. Terry's decals are great !

2 pointsAs many years as I have attended and been invited to join in, never made it. I'd like to hang out a little later this year and tip a few back with the crowd.
-
2 pointsCant make it this year or next, but here's to 2017! We'll be there in spirit!

2 pointsOh yeah....a tent flying through the air and me dangling from a rope....kind of like parachuting!
-
2 pointsNO Problem! Take it for a ride with your son too! Actually, ANYONE who asks is more than welcome to take her for a spin. Very simple centrifugal clutch drive so just put it in gear, hit the gas and go. This one doesn't pull wheelies like the last one, bunch of added weight up front this time. Don't worry about anything breaking either, it's still under warranty!
-
2 pointsDid you spell WIFE wrong? I forgot you weren't able to make it this year. Bummer!
-
2 pointsToo Late Richie, got'em on tonight! I don't like these new fenders compared to the older type I used for the last one but oh well Got some more done. Sparky will like those cushions!
-
2 pointsIt is pretty much done. Need to do some more touch up and cleaning and paint the rims. Going to get footboard pads from Eldon at the show and a shifter cover. Overall nice clean worker.
-
2 pointsYes I use the gun although i think it is time for a new one as this one was giving me so fits during this project. Must have been all that John Deere green that was run through it!!!!!
-
2 pointsBill, I pulled out all my plaques, and I seem to be missing the 14th Annual Wheel Horse Show plaque from 2012. Would you have one of those extra? Please. Thanks Bill

1 point@buckrancher Are you bringing the fire pit? Last year, there were a few surprised passed around at the campfire. I think some of it came right straight from the hills of West Virginny or somewhere like that. The stuff kind of shined in the moonlight. Always hotdogs, bratwurst and who knows what available from my cooler. And if Mike doesn't have his way with them, there might even be a few of Mrs. M's cookie bars left.

1 pointCome on Brandon, both the boys are old enough for the show this year. Road trip, road trip. Are we there yet?
-
1 pointJust wanted to show off my new Toy. I think it's my fathers day gift. It was at a auction today. Wasn't going to go because I didn't think I could afford it but my dear sweet wife said you never know & told me to go anyway. It's a 855 with a Freeman Pony Loader.

1 pointEngines without an oil filter system are supposed to use a non detergent oil. Non detergent oil suspends contaminents, clinging them to the bottom and walls of the crankcase, and prevents them from circulating around in the engine and causing damage. By using detergent oil in these engines, you loosen up suspended particulate, allowing it to circulate around the engine, and cause way more damage than just leaving it stuck to the sides and bottom of the crankcase. If you want to disassemble the motor for an occassional cleaning, that's fine, but stick with non detergent oil (no pun intended). Flushing could dislodge material and force it where it could become stuck and do real damage. Red

1 pointSeems, the last thing you want to do... is circulate that metal through the engine again.
-
1 pointSounds like the key between the transmission drive pulley and the engine crankshaft is missing. 1/4" x 1/4" x 1-1/2" long. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/file/11-tractor-1964-1054-da-om-ipl-wiringpdf/ Garry

1 pointI have use a pneumatic HAMMER on these...lost of penetrant.... usually comes apart, but very reluctantly.
-
1 pointThe 10 hp was OK but, the 16 hp Briggs purrs along, no sweat. Found an old Simplicity Landlord, scrap, the 16 hp we're using after some TLC.
-
1 pointYes I use the gun although i think it is time for a new one as this one was giving me so fits during this project.
-
1 pointYea I had this big guy for about 15 years now. This was a remission gift to myself after a long battle with stage 4 cancer at age of 20. It's truly a cream puff it has only 49k miles on it and never seen a winter.

1 pointI got the news that my blood counts have stabilized and I wouldn't need another transfusion today. After seven units of blood and three units of platelets since Thursday this was very good news for me.

1 pointJust to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, he may have been measuring his deck incorrectly, measuring the overall width instead of the actual cutting width. Just a thought.
-
1 pointDid a little TLC on the 855 today. it had duals when I bought it but I had to take the outers off to load. the inter was 8.5 x 12 and the outer was a 6 x 12. also found out the inters were not loaded so I had a pair of loaded 6 x 12 so I put both sets on and some hub caps I had laying around. also put a more comfortable seat on. still got to put some counter weight on back & clean up

1 point2 yrs. ago I set my GPS for the show. I turn off Brysonia RD and it says I have reached destination. OH NO I HAVEN'T !!! Luckily for me I just kept driving and in 2 minutes I was there!
-
1 pointLike this Mike... currently, the only one I can find on my clean desk here.
-
1 pointYes I imagine it would and that was actually my first thought but I keep all my tapes in a drawer together so when I went to go the electrical I saw the Teflon and thought that was even a better choice. The worn area on my spindle shafts was only as wide as the blade so I kind of folded the Teflon to fill in just that area. And like you said once you tighten the nut it holds everything in place. Ive mowed with my deck like this about 3 times now and everything seems to be in place still because its much quieter then it was.
-
1 pointI'm sure I can make it! Now I have to decide what to bring though.
-
1 pointAhh! And so it begins, now you have two tractors and all those attachments. Now you will need a third tractor so you can save time switching attachments, and then the Wheel Horse addiction begins............!!!!

1 pointA little sunshine today, so I brought the 416-H out to see how the new paint looks in the sunlight. Here she is with her repaired dash and hoodstand components, new seat, freshly painted footrests, belt guard and side panel. Just waiting for the hood and fender pan to be painted. I've got a set of Terry's "anniversary" decals ready to go on. I'm going on vacation, so I might not have it finished until just before the Little Guy's Show. But despite the horrible weather we've had, and other factors that have slowed me down this winter, I've made some progress. I swore I was going to take this winter off and not redo a tractor, but you know what they say, this addiction is powerful.
-
1 pointA little update on what I have been up to with this 416-H. This project and the threads about it, have gone off on many tangents. From distressed metal, to oil leaks, to motion control issues, and much more. But I think I am coming down the home stretch. Oil leaks seem to have been resolved, motion control issues were mainly wear, and all the cracked, distressed metal has either been replaced or welded. I am in the process of painting a few things now that the weather is a little more cooperative. As I said earlier, this is not one of my full blown restorations, as I plan to use this one, not just ride it around at shows. While my wife was at work today, I fired up the oven in the kitchen to 170 degrees and threw a few painted pieces in for an hour. That sure reduces the cure time on paint, and tends to give it a little more gloss. It's a shame I can't get the fender pan and hood in. Oh, before you ask, I know that I am always touting the many benefits of acrylics, but because this is a worker, I am painting it with Case-IH Iron Gard alkyd paint, IH Red 2150. This is the closest thing I have found to the old Valspar Restoration Series, and you can't beat the price of under $18.00 per quart.
