7 pointsJust wanted to show off my new Toy. I think it's my fathers day gift. It was at a auction today. Wasn't going to go because I didn't think I could afford it but my dear sweet wife said you never know & told me to go anyway. It's a 855 with a Freeman Pony Loader.

6 pointsI needed a new push mower since my old one completely rusted out around the rear wheels. I had looked into a string trimmer mower, and while very handy for trimming, not much for what I needed (thank you all for the feedback on that). Well, today I found a big box by the garage. It's a new Toro and self propelled! I am used to the very cheap mowers which take some effort, but this one is like driving a Lincoln after getting out of a Yugo! Grass is too wet to mow, but I was able to use it around the steep hills by the pool and it worked great! So happy having the self propelled.

5 pointsWell it's been awhile since I dust these beauties off. Between remodeling my house, landscaping,Working 2 jobs and chasing my 1 year and 3 year old around today I had some time to get some of my wheel horses out. The 3 cream puffs have less then 300 hours on them each and time to work them a little. Anyways wash and clean.

5 pointsI got the news that my blood counts have stabilized and I wouldn't need another transfusion today. After seven units of blood and three units of platelets since Thursday this was very good news for me.

3 pointsJust picked up a 520HC needing the 112791 flat idler pulley. This pulley is used on all later model Hydro tractors without the belt tension release lever. Thought no problem, till I saw the price( $66.70 ). Called my local dealer and he said there is another comparable pulley (93-1622) but the spacer needs to be swapped from the old pulley. This pulley which is the same size in every aspect but with a smaller spacer was $25.00. These are both toro pulleys and pricing? I guess the longer spacer justifies the $40.00 price difference, silly me. Anyway, swapping the spacers is very simple. It can be done very easily with a press and tooling. It can also be done just as easily with 1/4" rod, 2 washers, 2 nuts and a socket. My press is at work so I chose to use the second method. The most important thing to do is to support the bearing and not the pulley. Find yourself a deep well impact socket that sits evenly around the inner most spot of the pulley( the lip that contains the outer race of the bearing). Take your rod and run it through the socket and the bearing/ spacer. Tighten your nuts and washers down on either side while making sure everything is lined up and keep on tightening. Once the nut can no longer be reached inside the bearing ( due to the nut being pulled into the bearing with the spacer coming out the other side), unscrew the 1/4" rod. Find another socket smaller than the inner race of the bearing that reaches the spacer down inside inner race. Support the pulley on your deep well socket and wack the smaller socket with a hammer and out pops your spacer. To install the longer spacer, swap the deep well socket to the other side of the pulley. Tightening the nuts will now draw the spacer into the pulley. Tighten just enough to seat the new spacer. This is an easy and cheap way to do this and prevent damage to the bearing or the new pulley. I have not seen this documented before and searched for awhile till coming up with this. This is simple for anyone and hope it helps save someone some time and money. Glad my local dealer wasnt trying to up sell me and helped me out on this one. Kyle

3 pointsSo far I got a new moisture separator for my compressor, and some more 400 grit sandpaper. I'm going to get this darned 416-H painted even if it's midnight on Wednesday. Oh, by the way, those gifts were from ME. The wife and cats gave me a card and some fun money to spend at the show. My son and his family will be here at 5:00 pm and I'll throw some shrimp on the barbie. He's bringing the beer. Life is good!

3 pointsA man went to the police department to report that his wife was missing: Husband: – My wife is missing. She went shopping yesterday and has not come home. Sergeant: – What is her height? Husband: – Gee, I’m not sure. A little over five feet tall. Sergeant: – Weight? Husband: – Don’t know. Not slim, not really fat. Sergeant: – Color of eyes? Husband: – Never noticed Sergeant: – Color of hair? Husband: – Changes a couple times a year…….maybe dark brown. Sergeant: – What was she wearing? Husband: - Could have been a skirt or shorts. I don’t remember exactly. Sergeant: - What kind of car did she go in? Husband: - She went in my truck. Sergeant: - What kind of truck was it? Husband: - A 2015 Ford F150 King Ranch 4X4 with Eco-boost 5.0L V8 engine special ordered with manual transmission. It has a custom matching white cover for the bed. Custom leather seats, DVD with Navigation, 40 channel CB radio, 6 cup holders,4 power outlets, custom floor mats, trailer package with gold hitch. Put on special alloy wheels and off road Michelin’s. My wife put a small scratch on the driver’s door. The husband started tearing up. Sergeant: - Don't worry Sir…………..We'll find your truck. .

3 pointsThis was my dad's C 160 he bought when I was a kid. I learned to mow and blow snow with this. Was thrilled to get it out of the old garage where it was sitting, rusting, and waiting to be scrapped.

3 pointsMy Horse Barn is located (in Henry County) right where the Ozarks meet the Plains....does that make me "bi-local"? BTW..I maintain a listing of WH guys in MO and KS.....and since 1972 have acquired a "secret knowledge" of several WH's hidden in the Ozark barns!!!

2 pointsSpent the day thinking of my dad, 1st year without him. It was tough at times. My kids and grandchildren came over got me a gas card and road snacks for the trip to Portage WI Garden Tractor Daze. Spent the day in the shop working on the 953.

2 pointsYUP, Same situation. Trying to finish a custom 2 seater and running out of time. Spent 3 full days last weekend, Fri and Sat this weekend plus a few full days before that too. This stuff is usually fun when I just poke around at it on spare time but it's getting to be a real pain with a deadline. I'll have it running and driving because it's almost there but still have quite a few little things to put on and adjust. Seems like the last 10% of the job takes 90% of the time! See you at the show!

2 pointsViola! - Finished 1973 10HP 8-Speed "Refresh" So what started out as a spun rod, turned into an engine rebuild, which turned into a full blown engine restore, which turned into a tractor "refresh", which ultimately turned into this shiny red picture of beauty! LOL All in less than 30 calendar days, too. Sheesh! Time for a rest. Glad the BIG Show is only a few days away.

2 pointsI was able to get a PTO clutch from a guy about an hour from me. Got everything together last night and the belt from my other mover was too short... :?( All stores were closed and we were very sad. Will be getting the correct belt today. I will post pictures tonight so you can all appreciate it!

2 pointsSounds like the starter solenoid is not always making a clean contact when activated. Hook a voltmeter across the two large terminals (the one from the battery and the one to the starter). When it clicks and does not crank you will likely find a fairly large reading. That is called voltage drop due to resistance in the solenoid contacts. If it cranks the engine the reading will be very low which is what you want. Garry

2 pointsThe original size 10.5x4.5-4 are no longer made. I went with a 11x4. Just a hair taller and a hair more narrow. I'd say they are about 11.2 inches tall and about 4.25 inches wide at the sidewall. The tread is about 3.25 wide. (My original 10.5x4.5 tires were actually 10.5 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide sidewall with about a 4 inch wide tread.) I also tried a pair of 4.10x4, but they were tiny. Maybe 10 inches tall and less than 3 inches wide. The 11x4 will use the same size tubes as oem. You'll need bent stems. I found the best deal for these through summit on-line. http://www.summitracing.com/search?SortBy=BestKeywordMatch&SortOrder=Ascending&keyword=11x4 tires Here are pictures before I installed new sealed bearings.

2 pointsThey had the cracklefest last year and never did have the feature tractor group picture. Plus it was pretty hard to wheel and deal with all the noise. No fear Bronco owners. I'm sure they will have the feature pic this year since I don't own one.

2 pointsWas at home, listening to my neighbor cut his lawn. He never picked up sticks or rocks first. Heard the lawnmower hit a huge rock, and bent the shaft on his motor. He immediately asked me to borrow mine so he could finish. I told him try the other neighbor, after I stopped laughing.

1 pointI picked up a 94 520H. It runs well. The compression is good. 120psi front and 115psi rear cylinder. A few minor repairs and she'll be ready to roll!

1 pointMy introduction to Wheel Horse began in the summer of 1997, immediately following high school graduation. I worked at Howard's in Coudersport (former Tucker's) until November of that year. I assembled new units, and did maintenance & repair on Kubota, Wheel Horse & Ski-doo equipment. I remember seeing pictures of the 520xi that fall. If I recall, we got one unit in the fall just before I left. I always thought they were pretty neat. Well I got one last week in ROUGH shape. So far I got it un-stuck ( motor was ceased) & running well. I have some questions on this machine, and after reviewing several sites & pages, this looks to be the best "spot" For "street cred" I have attached a link to my shop video. Karl J. Crowell (say Kroll) Cheers ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gsPayJAGZU

-
1 pointWhew! Dodged the bullet. Much as I would like, I'm afraid I won't be there as it is two days after surgery. Unless it is awarded in abstentia.
-
1 pointYes, Turning brakes are there and complete. The whole tractor is in fair condition, just need some lovin....and who knows what else, as I pushed on trailer with help and pushed off with help. Fingers crossed it won't need anything major to get it up and running.

1 pointWell I tend to be somewhere betwixt and between. I feel that I have been blessed in life and while some of that is due to my effort and luck of the draw, a much greater amount of credit goes to my maker. So I try to pay it forward as much as I can. As such, I will loan stuff using a triage scale. If I am using said item or will soon need to, then no loan is made, but then the scale softens. But as others have mentioned, there are those who you know will treat it appropriately and unfortunately those who you feel or know lack skill, caution or integrity. In those latter cases I am much less generous. But as I see most things in my life as loaned to me by my maker, then I treat them as a wise steward.
-
1 pointI think Stevebo lent a tractor to a neighbor and they rolled it! Certain things I won't loan out, other things I really don't care. One of my neighbors had a quadruple by- pass a few yrs. ago, he is only 48, a yr. older than me. Kinda surprising because he takes excellent care of himself. For the past two yrs. I have let him use my snow blower every time it snows. (he doesn't have a place to store one) Its a real nice Toro 7/24. He was real hesitant about borrowing it because he didn't want to mess it up. He is somewhat mechanical and he ain't no dummy and has excellent common sense. I told him I bought it for 75 bucks at a swap meet and that I could care a less if it blows up or if it self implodes. I'd feel much worse if he keeled over lifting all the snow we have been getting! Now, when it comes to those neighbors that just don't care or have a clue, and we all know every neighborhood is at least half full of them... Well, all I can say is you just can't help everyone! Its kinda funny, I have determined over the yrs. its usually the people that ask for help are the ones that don't need it.
-
1 pointA couple beers before you get in the seat, another for the cup holder... then stab it and go. Pretty sure you'll have all kinds of overlap going on.
