I left a few of the little mares, the big stallions, and some old nags out for some air today. The big old 160 dually and the 953 were a little cranky and wouldn't come out for the pic.

Had a little job for my puller today. Mrs K wanted a shrub removed. The Commando 8 was up to the task.

I might have a change of plans in the opposite direction! It looks like I will be able to attend now.... working on the details. Am I still invited to the fire?

I love it when there are pix posted like this one. I can show it to my wife and then she will be thankful I have only 4 in the stable!

So Sparky is always telling me that only "cool" trucks have cab lights.... and he always seemed to luck out and buy trucks with them. Myself I always end up with white paint and no cab lights because beggers can't be choosers. But yesterday I found a solution!!!! After hauling a huge boat trailer halfway across CT I got home in torrential rain and was putting my magnet mount Harbor freight trailer lights away... had an inspiration and plugged them in, ran the wire over the tailgate and WALLA!!!! CAB LIGHTS MO FO!!!! My Chevy is Cool now and look how tough with all the lights on in a torrential rain! HA!!! TAKE THAT DODGE BOY!!! (Sparky) Tony

​yeah i'm no pro but reading along made me keep thinking the belt is loose. my 502 is starting to have symptoms of a bad belt after plowing and discing the garden this year.

Thank you gentlemen for such fast replies. My Father-law has the High lift blades on his 37" Wheel Horse deck, that's why I asked about the 42" deck. Also your point of pushing the grass faster than the Cyclone pulls makes great sense. I used the new Cyclone Saturday for the first time and it works very well! No clippings left behind and a well built attachment. I have been cutting my lawn with my 1973 8 spd 12hp since 1973 without bagging so this is all new for me. The Cyclone now makes the length of the tractor plus bagger approx. 12 foot long so you have to be careful making turns. I also saw someone on this site who has four blades on his 42", always fun to see how others re-engineer their equipment. Last year I bought a 1993 14hp 8 spd with 100 hours and never used before 42" rear discharge deck which I haven't the heart to get dirty yet! Ha! Thanks again!!!

There are all kinds of people that get into this hobby. Some like to collect the NOS horses, some like to just collect horses, some like to flip and part them out, some like (me) like to just go to shows, see the people and keep what I have running, An NOS tractor is not for me, I have no where to keep it out of harms way, and I would trip over something with tools in my arms and dent the hood. I am one of those guys that just can't have nothing nice...for long. I envy those that can collect NOS stuff, and I really enjoy being able to see one once in a while...and I have seen this one. If you like to collect this kind of thing, you really can't count the time and gas and what ever else it took to get it. You did not buy it to sell it. If it was mine, it would be down here in the man cave, so I could enjoy it and show it off. What is it worth...price less.

I took off the deck of my 212-6 (32-12K601) that I acquired over the weekend and I do not believe it has been serviced in a long long time. After scraping off the grass and dirt cement like crust that had formed it began to look much better. Structurally it is solid but I am concerned about some hairline cracks and surface rust towards to front of the deck. I would like to know what would be the best way to make the deck as structurally sound as possibly. Here are some pictures: Would a JB weld like product like steelstik do a good enough job? I am going to sand the underneath to bare steel and repaint but I want the deck to last. Thanks for any help in this project.

I am posting this sales sheet I made a copy of four of five years ago. Someone somewhere posted this and I printed it off and kept a ciopy in one of my Wheel Horse 1054 three ring binders I keep ( I keep a binder for each tractor with related info, etc) I mentioned this to Lars Sorlie today and thought I would pos on here for others to enjoy. I pulled up a HUGE rock with my 520 about 7 years ago. I am amazed about how strong the tranny is. It made a loud bang noise. Now that i think about it thats probably why my 520 tranny is leaking fluid today. lol Nice tractor though.

Not a B-80. Looks like a Commando, early 70's. Had one years ago, removed the snow dozer, sold the Horse. Yep 10" rear wheels.

Great Horse! Wouldn't waste any time restoring the poor thing. FYI, Coarse skateboard grip tape works great for foot rests!

Mine has a neutral safety switch also. All tthe linkage works smooth and reliably. Nice tractor but very ugly. Paint and new graphics are on the way.

Your neighbor probably only see's the name Allis Chalmers on that tractor and he automatically thinks its worth all the steam. I'd ask for more than 200 only because you can't even get a half way decent push mower for 200 bucks these days.. I think I'd start out with an asking price of 400 if it runs nice and cuts decent...

A bit more progress today before the rain threatened to open up the skies. Got almost everything blasted and in paint, all the painting that's left are the running boards and belt guards. Dash tower and steering back in, as is the seat forward cross-member and amp meter. Let these parts dry for five days and I'll wet-sand the hood and fender pan and apply clear-coat. The rest of the painted parts will be re-installed as-is. Also got the dash cleaned and re-colored, and have the first coat of white added to the lettering. The dash should only need one more coat I think. Everything moving along nicely. Might even have this ready for the BIG Show. We'll see.

An easy way to determine pole direction is to use another magnet. Like poles repel, opposites attract.

Could be either one, but first, what is the year of your 520-H. Here is a wiring diagram of the spark circuit for the 1991-1997 models. There are a couple of things to check first. Check the 25 amp fuse, and make sure that the seat switch is being activated, the PTO is disengaged, and the motion control lever is in neutral. By looking at the diagrams below, any one of those plus a bad ignition switch, switching relay, kill relay, trigger module or coil could be at fault. But always check the obvious stuff first.

​My '90 520-8 has the swept forward axle. I do like the ride. Didn't like the TORO steering wheel center, gone. Hated the 20 hp Onan screen center, history. The hood and rear fender "T" decals, bye. Thanks Terry! Added "bling" to the muffler. Not shown but found a new 48" SD deck and with a new mule drive. This poor old Horse is a Stallion. We treat him very well, "More oil Horsey? Time for your groomin'."

My first wheel horse was my 1964 ,, 854. One week later to the day I bought a 1988 ,, 416-8. Now I am up to 5. I am new to the hobby, a little over a year and a half. But we just put our home for sale, I have a very large 2 car garage, my safe haven. For now I stopped buying and shudder to think about selling. Sadly, that might happen. A few might go. The coupon listed in this thread has evidently expired. A new 20% off coupon (any one item) is available June 1st. Probably in store will not allow use on engine but online it appeared to work. I may grab one and retrofit my C161 as I have a spare electric clutch handy. I have a foot control kit I have been holding onto as i wanted a more reliability. My Briggs is attention needy. This engine, clutch and foot controlled hydro should be just the ticket:-)

My first is documented in this forum. I got it almost 2 years ago...It's the C-161 Twin Briggs in my avatar. Spent the first year doing repairs rather than restoration. It runs great and cuts well. Decided to hold off on restoration and work on my 3 GT-14's I gathered in the meantime. Along the way I also picked up a tiller and large snow plow. Made it to the big show last year. I definitely have a mild addiction:-)

​You do indeed Koen, test drive time is not that far off now Yesterday the engine frame got the treatment.. Some final welding and a bit of smoothing out.. Here the frame is fitted to the engine so I could make a mount for the coil pack.. It always amazes me how a quick coat of paint can change how something looks... A red metal sculpture Engine and a few other bits bolted back on.. The wheels were only thrown on to see how the front end looked.. They will be coming back off to fit the new tires/tyres. A close up of the front end... Me likes how it looks Before the rear axle could go back on I had to pull it apart again! The mounting holes needed to be made slightly bigger but the brake backing plates were in the way stopping me getting the drill in... So it was easier just to pull the axles out to get the backing plates out the way. I also needed to drill a small breather hole in the top of the axle and fit a jiggle pin.. A jiggle pin is a small split pin that's a loose fit in the hole.. The idea is the pin jiggles about and stops the breather hole from getting blocked up..

In 1985, my Dad decided it was time to replace the old Gravely convertible he had, since he was the only one who could start it, and it was difficult for me, my sister, or my mom to mow with. After considering a few others, he bought a new 310-8 from Hutchinson's Equipment in Hopewell Jct., NY..... In 1985 the 310 had a red grill, and he painted ours flat black, so it kinda looked a bit like the bigger Horses We (I) mowed with that for a handful of years, and made a few bucks from some neighbors, until he bought a Scag walk-behind in '91 or '92. He kept the 310 for a few more years before selling it to a long-time friend of his.... Not sure where that Horse is today. My first WH of 'my own' is the 416-H I have today that I inherited from my grandfather..... Every time I'd help him with maintenance, he'd always tell me I should keep this tractor when the time came. So when he passed, that's what I did.... Kinda feels like he's helping whenever I get to put it to work.... He was an avid (that's an understatement!) gardener, and this year the 416 tilled my garden at our home for the first time!

Ok,,,,the lips are 1 1/4 inches and taper to about 1 1/2....the front lip extends about 1 inch....the rear is 3/4......heck they might be the same......they are HEAVY.....

This was my first. I believe it was a 77 or 78 D200. Bought it to tie in my septic system when I put the addition on my house. It needed work when I bough it. I rebuilt the transmission. Rebuilt the steering. Rebuilt the carb. Gave it a new paint job. Rebuilt the pistons and replace the hydraulic hoses on the loader and backhoe. 4 new tires. This things was like mint when I was done. Stupidly I sold it. I figured I was done with the job so who need it. It wasn't but a year when I realized how much I missed it and so began the collecting.
