I'm happy everyone is ok and the damage wasn't too bad. The last time it was the ice age that took out the Dinos. Now it looks like traffic and women drivers are out to get you.

What's going on out there in WH land?? I came across a C195 here a week or two back. It just so happens it turned out to be an 84' which I have very much grown to like. This one will undoubtly will see snow blower duty this winter. That will give the 82' a rest this winter. Thinking I might throw the grader blade on it for shows this summer. I was looking for a seat pan an found one. It will need the panel cut in two different places for the hyd. controls and also the fuel tank. Here are a few pictures, I will Not be adding duels!!!!

Everyone got the shooty shoot Mike. It is a piece of SST I found John. The chute deflector control was made from a throttle control off an old hand mower. I know it's not Hi Tec, but I have in cab control of the chute rotation and deflector..and it works. Here's the rubber pad on the auger Glenn. It closes the gap between the auger and the blower housing. Also added wheel weights (50lb each) and rear weight (150 lb) and front chains. The rears were chained and loaded with washer fluid. Changed blower drive pulley from 5" to 4" to increase auger RPM and make it possible to change blower belt w/o moving the pulley. Motion foot control and heat collector are not new, but both worked well last winter. The cab stays 30F higher than outside temp. We'll have to wait a few months to see how the new mods work.

Could have been worse. The truck could have been JD green instead of WH red.

Glad you are OK, but from now on keep your house out of traffic.

Nice score John. I hauled mine down to my Mom's house yesterday and cut about an acre of grass with it. My Dad's Craftsman died and I couldn't leave the grass uncut on Mother's Day..

Why do I work on snow blowers in the summer and mowers in the winter ? Anyway..made a few mods to the blower today. How many can you spot?

So, I'm sitting down here in the Man Cave watching TV, when this woman tried to drive into my house. The Man Cave is right on the other side of this wall. It sounded like a gas explosion. It was raining and she lost control of her vehicle coming around the corner. She is OK, but she will be a little sore for sure. My wife...she was running around upstairs yelling..."some one hit the house!!!" Pretty scary.

this is a mayfield merlin only 109 ever made between 1966-1968 the green is before i restored it

I'm trying to imagine just what a "gas explosion" in your "man cave" actually sounds like? Really glad to hear everyone survived it Dino.
  15. 2 points
Rock solid house (Brick is always best), and the trash can looks like it survived OK. No skid marks on the grass, no brakes?

You could name them Walker and Texas Ranger. Or if they are wussy weights, you could name one Dr Quinn, and the other Medicine Woman..... Not sure of the maker though.

This topic has been around the horn a few times, only in different shades of "grey". Chuck - while the L110 probably is a good quality "lawn" mower, I think the topic was "GT". Garden Tractor..... I am sure an L110 would fail miserably being used as a garden tractor. It's just the world of today we live in when it comes to what we see that is mfgd. today. Small gardens, maybe even no gardens, has diminished the need for a mower that is also used as the garden tractor. Additionally these 3 items come into play: Economical - the mowers of today use half the gas they use to burn on the same sized lawns. EPA standards Cheaper - Customer driven, "I want to pay less" and still have a John Deere! Faster - Meaning the cut of the lawn. "I don't want to spend 2hrs. on my lawn." As someone stated in the thread ZTR's are dominating the market. Put all 3 of these together, plus my opinion, on 1 more item: Laziness - The youth of today would faint if they had to go out and do some "real work". I am sure there are members in here that have raised their children to understand that manual labor will not kill you. But for the rest of the world, Well - just look at how many info-mercials we have now compared to 15 years ago, on how to lose weight, cut calories, get into shape... RMC

I have one of those 17 cu ft yard trailer/carts from the big box stores and that thing is worth its weight in gold for doodling yard refuse, but I've always wished it had a bit more capacity.... Sooo since I have had it several years and it was needing a 'freshening', I figure while I've got in the 'repair shop' I might as well try and add some to its capacity ability. Of course since it was needing paint it naturally was gonna some RED! put on it! I went to the H depot and looked at what was available, wanted something that was treated because the cart has to live outside and settled on round nose decking, a 2x6 for the uprights. and 6 of those handy support thingys. Construction was pretty straight forward - a drill, handfull of deck screws and a few lag bolts and --- by golly the dang thing looks pretty good! (Course that RED paint is what makes it look REALLY good) Think I just may have to get me a couple 'Wheel Horse' decals from Terry to top it off with.... Thought you guys would like it too and maybe get ideas for your cart....

First car was a 1955 Chevy 2door sedan with a 265ci motor and three on the tree. I was in high school and drove the poor car into the ground. Wish I still had it.

My '89 had the key on the left. The '88 may have as well. These had the motion lever that had a crooked gate between the legs so it may have been a design to have less interference while operating. In '90 they went to the column for the motion lever and my '90 was back on the right. Strangely though, my '86 312A and '81 C-145 have the key on the right and the motion lever between the legs but the gate is straight.

I got my e tank built and the 854 off the pickup. I have never used an e tank before but I tried it out on a couple of old chairs. It worked great. A contractor gave me the rebar from one of our josites and I got the tank for a roadside sale. It had two cuts but a little 6 mil plastic and duct tape to line the cuts, a few nuts, washers, and bolts and a little welding, I now have my first e tank. I have been cleaning the abides after each use . Any info for best practices would be appreciated. Thanks

I've got fun plans for this year. Instead of just coming up on Friday-only as in years past, I made reservations for a hotel in Gettysburg so I can participate Thursday through Saturday. Also I'll be bringing a diesel tractor or two.

I got the rear tires mounted on the 520 rims today. Plan on bringing those to the sand blaster this week then I can paint them. The fronts are all done. I used Navajho White I had mixed. Could not find canvas white at the store. I like the stance...I was able to buff the paint and then wax it. Came out real nice.

Ok. Enough bs' N around with spiral pins and the column shifter. Time to delete all that old time junk and install Matt pedal conversion kit I bought last fall. Out with the old and in with the new. Everything is apart and ready for reassembly. I want the colum shifter gone. Who can give me a tip on getting that thing out? Don't know why I didn't do this long ago. Glenn

Truckin88, I think you hit the nail on the head. The housing market has changed since the '70s and '80s. With planned developments, the lot size has grown to be "too large" for a push mower so the rise of the lawn tractor. Shopping at a box store for building materials, let's buy the lawn tractor there too. The owners of "McMansions" that still cut their own grass have gone to the ZTR. When I was shopping five years ago for equipment to use on my current home and property, I knew I needed a tractor. EVERY dealer tried to put me in a ZTR! Only for the "CFO", I would have gone for a SCUT with the 0% financing. You should see the spreadsheets that I made to justify the purchase. It didn't work though! I'm glad it didn't as I probably wouldn't have Wheel Horses today. Most consumers are not like this forum's members. Most are loyal to this brand but still accept other choices. Having the topic"Other Brands" is a good example. Good-hearted ribbing occurs sometimes but never is it mean-hearted. A different forum had a member complaining about the ride his ZTR was giving him on his rough ground. He wanted a tractor for two acres - but his perceived choices were ZTRs ! Someone pointed that out to him in a response that all ZTRs are the same as far as ride goes. I have never tried one so cannot speak from experience.
