7 pointsFigured it was about time to make the 79 C-161 black hood a " black hood"! Always did like the red, but the more black hood tractors I get that every time I look at the red, it just seems naked! Next will be the C-175

7 pointsThis is my son, it's his first time on a tractor.. With the smile he had im guessing it won't be his last!!
-
5 pointsYou know it's spring in Minnesota when you see this coming down your sidewalk. https://youtu.be/69sJrVc7VFE

5 pointsWell I came home this afternoon and pulled into my driveway and seen my Wheel Horses got out of the barn and trapped this John Deere 300. It was over before I even got out of truck. Big D made the JD 300 tap out in 3 seconds. Then the 314a with the kwik way bucket ended up scooping the JD 300 and dumping it down a cliff. Lol Tractor Fight
-
5 pointsdid a swap today with a neighbor around the corner from me I traded a 314H for a 416-8 314H I traded the 416-8 I traded for Brian
-
5 pointsMy first is a 416-8 with a front end loader. Bought it just to move some large piles of dirt around the yard and sell but once I used it, I knew it was a keeper. A couple of years later the backhoe was added. Never heard of Wheel Horse before I bought it.

5 pointsHe looks addicted already! My son is 2 and hes been riding on tractors for a year and a half already. If he could reach the pedals I'd be in trouble. I already have to wire a secondary ignition interlock on my tractors because he figured out one of his "play keys" can fit the ignition . (Luckily he hasn't tried to start it yet!)

3 pointsI have completed mod on JD Thatch rake I bought last fall. Have always like/wanted a front thatch rake for the Horses as I had 1 a few years ago on a Simplicity Conquest. It worked excellent and was able to tow a sweeper so was a 1 pass setup. It was not very difficult to modify. Made a mount for tractor from angle and spracers. Welded it all up and utilized holes already in frame. The rake mount frame needed shortening so pivit point was not too far forward as would be rake too. Lift lever was a little trickier as Had to go on same side as impliment lever. I made mount for it from a solid steel block (overkill but wanted to thread it). Made a couple bents to clear everthing and it functions nice. Then stripped the awful green/yellow and sprayed with IH red majic from TSC. Not a perfect paint job (couple runs) as was first time using catylst etc with enamel. I'm happy with the outcome as it's just a rake after all. MU

3 pointsIt has been my son's dream since he was twelve years old, to be an Officer in the Marine Corp. Yesterday, my son, Jeff, was promoted from Staff Sargent, to 2nd Lieutenant, USMC. First salute as an officer from his dad. 2nd Lt. Jeffrey Thomas Evans, USMC.

3 pointsMy wife & I were on a "road trip" in Illinois Saturday. We crossed back into Indiana for the trip back home and stopped to visit with a good friend in Greencastle Indiana. We visited with Lane & Ruth Ralph (Lane Ranger on RS) for a while. Lane sure has a lot of Wheel Horse goodies to look at and to drool over!! We really enjoyed our visit with Lane & Ruth. Here is a shot of Lane & I.

3 pointsI haven't attended a show with my stuff and hung out since Zargay two years ago. This was the first Saturday I had taken off this year, and was good to be out here for sure. The weather was perfect, and we had an awesome time. I only have two pics from the show, but they made my day. I ended up hanging out at John's tent with Russ and Mike. Was good to see everyone else as well like Ken, Steve, Vin, Matt, and meet Dave, Brian, and Jason as well. Was amazed at how big Cole and Brennan got, but I guess my kids got bigger as well. The pedal the kids and I made worked out pretty well, and they drove around a good part of the day. Thanks again RS family.

3 pointsRediscovered I had this old thing hiding out in the magic shed. Came with, and manufactured by the original owner of my 520... configured with my additional plates, I'm estimating its weight now to be around 175 lbs.
-
2 pointsMy first wheel horse was my wheel horse 520-H, i paid $4000 for it in 1997 and I'm still using it today. Then later on i got my ole trusty 212-6 that i still use too. Thats how my addiction to these horses started. But anyways what was your first horse?
-
2 pointsI have been wanting an auto wheel horse for a while and this one popped up advertised as not having a spark but it looked very tidy in the pictures. I liked the look of it a lot as it was original. I spoke to the owner and he was very honest and said that the wiring needed going through, I set my limit and luckily I won it. I did have a bit of a panic as my dad fell ill recently and is unable to drive but a good friend who is also a collector offered to get it for me! My plans are to try and source a hydraulic lift assembly for it and plumb it all in, it's definitely going to be a keeper. Anyway, I know you all want pictures so here it is: It also came with some weird sort of frame under the hitch, anyone know what this is and whether it's original? After I got it home I couldn't resist having a play and to see if I could get it running. I tested the coil, condenser and spark plug and they were all OK, cleaned and reset gap on the points but still no luck. I then ran a temporary wire giving the coil constant power from the battery and turned it over and we had a spark, put the plug in and off she went, a fair bit of smoke but it soon cleared, it hasn't been run in about 5 years so it was expected. The lack of spark was down to some awful wiring, here is an example of a join in the wire: This was just covered in insulation tape, the wiring is totally gone and I have decided I am going to make a new wiring harness. The only problems I'm having is finding a plug for the ignition, also what connectors do these plugs use? I think I have found some links to them in the USA but I can't seem to find any over here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking, Tom

2 pointsMy friends and neighbors think I'm "mental". Got this c125 with loader and sears ss16 with accessories at a garage sale for $1500. Wheel horse is in great shape. Suburban will run soon as I isolate lack of fire issue. Think its the condenser. I also resurrected a couple of abandoned tractors for minimal cost. Ward's signature 2000 and a K-gro sentinel. The craftsman dyt 4000 is in great shape except for a rod poking thru the engine block. Hate to see good stuff just thrown away. I had another c125 but sold it for a good profit. Been keeping my eye open for another one. Notice the high tech counter weight. Railroad track, fishplates, clutch parts, trailer hitch.

2 pointsIn 1989 I traded a very worn out 1975 Harley Davidson Sportster for my C-175 8 Speed which I still have and use. It had a 48 inch deck, snowplow, tire chains and wheel weights. I have all of them I would bet that whoever ended up with that AMF era Harley doesn't have it anymore! Still the best trade I ever made and no one has ever forced me off the road on my tractor!
-
2 pointsExcellent news!!! Take it easy still but the tractor season is just beginning - and your in it!
-
2 pointsProbably had a Kohler muffler on it! Can't believe you didn't see the Tecky decal. I thought you got those eyes fixed? Must have been lookin thru Rock n Rye glasses!
-
2 pointsNo Kohler steve....just a finely tuned Tecky Did nothing to it.... Started right up after a long winter of sitting

2 pointsI got a call from The Cleveland Clinic this morning. My latest bone marrow biopsy showed no signs of leukemia. I am officially in remission. Still a long way to go in the treatment regimen but taking things one day at a time. This is a good day for sure. Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. He is listening.

2 pointsHa ha, whenever I get my Wheel Horses out, all of my neighbors Deeres and Cubs run away and hide for fear of getting ambushed liked that :-D

2 pointsI thank all of you for your kind remarks. I can tell you that my son is as kind and as gentle a man as you would ever want to meet but when called on, he can be as tough and as hard as nails. He is a better man than his dad. Thanks, again: Tom

1 pointhi all, i know the A-800 ranger is not a popular horsey, runt of the herd if you like! but.. in a previous topic i asked about using my A-800 for some light ground engagement, the implements would be converted from pedestrian operated colwood mono tractor. it was suggested that the tranny wouldn't like that (as expected really). i did mention this project in the "what sort of ground engagement work could i do??" post but trying to keep posts on topic i thought id start a new one, also going into more detail about my big idea. so, here's my pitch: i'm thinking about turning my A-800 lawn tractor into the all new Agri-800 garden tractor! what does this mean you may be asking? well, i will be putting in a beefier tranny (i have one in mind), the popular front spindle to 4 lug hub mod, lifting clevis hitch, larger front and rear wheels, front weight block and many other little bits and bobs. so what do you think? I'm sure some of you will think it's not worth it but i like the A-800 rangers personally, they deserve a place in the WH community. thanks for looking and ALL opinions gratefully received, Callum

1 point656 did come with the pull start as a back up. Most like the Techy will need a set of points and condenser to run.

1 pointYah Brandon, I am not positive if that statement is entirely accurate...and I was not thinking of hydros. To me the Uni-Drive is the Wheel Horse 3 speed transmission...5007,5025, 5046, 5048, 5049, 5053 and the 5045, 5047, 5051, 5059 and 5058. I base it on the manual, which only uses the word Uni-Drive in the title in Section II. I think the hydros are called Wheel-A-Matics.

1 pointYou will need to hook up a hydraulic pressure gauge to the system and then there is an acorn on top of the lift valve that will come off to allow you to access the adjustment. The eaton charge pump is rated to 800psi, but wheel horse has set a 700psi maximum rating for it to build in a safety margin and make the pump last longer... (I myself have not performed the procedure, but I have read up on it)

1 pointOle to . Not an expert like Steve stevasaurus, but from what I see your gears look good except for that 1 spot on cluster gear. In the transmission section of forum Steve has an excellent spread sheet of bearings and seals ( ) which is the biggest probable failure with water intrusion. The main carrier bearing (hopefully not completely eaten up) is no longer manufactured. Some members on here from time to time have some used. May luck be with you on the gears. In case you have no manuals, here is a free download supplied by Admin that covers from 1958 to 1982 transmissions.

1 pointFor the tough piece I put a long bend in the sheet metal by clamping it to a square box tube and bending it over by hand and got it to match the radius of the deck pretty well. I then laid the rotted out piece I cut out inside of it and visualized where the next bends needed to go. Thought about it for a while and made my cut. Then from there I bent the rest with pliers and by hand and made a few more relief cuts. I kept laying the rotted piece inside until I got it to match really close. Once I was satisfied I tacked it where needed and lined up to the deck marked it and very carefully cut it and put it in.

1 pointHi all, With the recent sale of the Brinly plough for over £600 on that well-known auction site and having no luck finding one and after seeing Marks amazing adaptation of a Barford atom plough I set about adapting a spare Barford atom plough I had. I only have a slot hitch at the moment so I adapted it to suit a slot hitch but no welding or modification was made to the plough I just used the original bolt holes which means it can be reverted back to a plough for a Barford atom or even changed for a sleeve hitch. I cut a part out of some 8" box section we had to make the L-shaped bracket and then used a piece off of an old forklift carriage for the bar which will go in the slot hitch and be welded to the underside of the L-shaped bracket. It's currently only G-clamped. I will cut the bracket down so there is no risk of it hitting the fender and so the adjustment lever has enough space to move. Tom

1 pointI only finished two projects this year but came close on a third. Here is my David Bradley finished, my 1958 Gravely L that I freshened to sell, and my MW Chor Trac all painted but not re-assembled.

1 pointI restored a 1957 Bolens super ride-a-matic Brian
-
1 pointIf I could figure out how to do that I would have bought more tractors
-
1 pointMany of us on this forum probably think Brian was really lucky to have obtained this tractor. I,however disagree. I think this tractor was really lucky to have found Brian!
