I have mine made also. But I use red for positive because I'm a Banana Head and would likely hook up a charger backwards!

My first was a 1998 ford ranger 4.0l ohv 4x4 with 3.73 axles short bed double cab sport. I loved that truck so much and wished I would have never sold it when I was 19 years and stupid..

Hello Glenn, Thank you for interest. I'll try & share as time goes on especially if i can grab the plough or blade soon. I'm not sure when i'll get it done but i may take it out, as is, for the 1st couple of shows. There is certainly a wealth of knowledge out there which is proving very useful.

My new 2015 work truck arrived here today... sitting in my driveway with a total of seven miles on the clock. Wanted the full size bed, as I'm tired of only being able to rustle home one at a time. The only drag being...I'm gonna need a new rear window decal, really hated to see that go.

This was on the local news this morning. Video of a moose checking out a Wheel Horse and snowblower. http://www.myfoxboston.com/clip/11387709/moose-on-the-loose-chimps-down-drones The following video is also cool. Shows a chimp knocking down a drone with a stick

Finally picked it up today. 1987 model with the M16S Kohler. It's no cream puff, but there's still a lot of work left in her! More pics to come, as it was dark and raining when I got her home.

What, Brian too? You guys with all your current shape GM trucks, first it was Steve rubbing it in with his 14 last year, now you guys with your 15s..... (Brian, i assume yours is a 15?) Im posting a pic of my 13 "old model' to try and fight back all you guys with your 'cutting edge' trucks..... I recommend you do the same Denny, don't just stand back and let them kick sand in our faces!!!!!

If it was the original HH160 I would definitely rework it to keep it original, but I've got the 341 so that's the route I'm going. Who knows maybe I'll luck out and find one down the road and slide it in to make as it came from the factory!

I know it is a FORD thing....wonder what made me think that photo was a FORD? Senior moment I guess! Quite a lot of aluminum vs. steel truck ads on TV. If GM makes an aluminum truck in a few years, how they expect to sell it saying "steel is so much better" now!!
  19. 1 point
Smart move by GM give it a couple of years to see if there are any major problems with the aluminum. Especially in the Northeast. I'm sure glad I got out of the auto business. Steel parts and steel bolts don't mix well with aluminum. And I have a 3 ft Snap-On breaker bar to prove it!

A few years back, I was selling lug nut kits for Wheel Horse tractors. I stopped making the kits when I got busy with my work, but now that I have retired, I am once again putting the kits together. Kit includes: 10 - 7/16-20 x 1-1/2" Grade 5, Zinc-plated bolts 10 - Zinc-plated 7/16-20 lug nuts Instructions for installation As soon as the kits are assembled and ready to ship, I will list them in the FOR SALE section.

Nice truck Craig. Best of luck with it. For what you do...leasing is a great avenue. I do like the bigger WH decal...just saying.

Nothing got in my eyes but I had the strangest situation with a wire wheel strand. I was cleaning some screw threads using a wire wheel in my drill press. Didn't think anything of it. When I was finished working on the project, I went to take a shower and all of a sudden there is something that I can't see sticking in the top of my left shoulder. It actually was facing towards the outside. I got my wife to look and she took a 3/4" piece of wire from the wire wheel out of my shoulder. I can not figure out how it got there as I was wearing a jacket, flannel shirt, and T-shirt while cleaning the screws. I just can't stress enough to wear goggles or wrap-around safety glasses while using anything that rotates.

Sounds like you need this file for you records The D is the tractor details and the A is the attachment list which will give you all the model numbers. Here is the illustrated parts list for the 48" side discharge deck Operator manual A search of the manuals using a model number should bring up more manuals. If not let us know and will get them posted. This chart likely has the belt dimensions on the last pages of the file in two lists Garry

The screw on top of the carb...screw it in until it "gently" bottoms out...pay attention to how many turns it takes...might be like 2 1/2 turns. Then pull that screw out...there is a little hole down near the bottom of the shaft of that screw. Using carb cleaner and a small piece of wire, clean out that hole. Put screw back in by bottoming out and the backing back out the revolutions you counted in the first place. If that hole is clogged or dirty...it will do what your horse is doing. I would also take a look at your points...should be .0020...I like about .0018 on older machines. The points control your timing on these Kohlers. Hope that helps.

I was out and about today and drove into Desoto. I have stopped by Mueller Motors-Olson before and always look to see what's in their yard. But I hadn't been there in a while. So I decided to stop in and say hello. They still have the RJ58 in their building, on a shelf. It's moved from the window as I always seen it before to the adjacent wall. I talked to Tony, who apparently now runs it and we talked about how tractors aren't made as sturdy as they once was. He said whenever they come across an older Wheel Horse that has them stumped on fixing it, they come here to RS for the answers.

I want to thank you all who took part in my little survey... the results were really as I expected. I've finally had some time to rework the list in the first post and organize by state. (If you find an error in there, please just PM me, and I'll get it fixed as quick as I can) Thank you to all who have contributed to this list so far. I've updated with the available information through the last post. I've also updated the original post to include this paragraph. Keep them coming folks... there were thousands! We're just getting started!

I grew up in my grandparents dealership, it was "Zook's Hardware" They started selling Wheel Horses around 1965 in Burlington, Indiana. They moved the store to Kokomo, Indiana around 1986 and closed in 1997 when Lowes opened about 1/2 mile down the street. (damn those big box stores lol) Most of my early childhood was spent in their store, my cousin and I still tell grandma and grandpa stories about the things we did and got away with in that building. They also sold Stihl, Lawn Boy, and Simplicity, it was also a Tru-Value Hardware store. A couple years ago I found a brochure of blackhoods with the dealerships sticker on it. I took it to my local sign shop and had him print me a page of them on vinyl so I could put them on my horses.

Kuhn Sales and Service, Bascom, Oh still open selling Toro and others. This is the Wheel Horse on a pole I own two machines with a sticker that says Fullers in Lansing, Mi I believe that they are still there but never confirmed. I usually get my parts from Brady's Power Equipment in Holt Mi. Although Dankin's in Jackson Mi is closer to me they seem to not want to be bothered with anything that is not Kubota.

I'll start off with my own hometown dealer was Lincoln Radiator, Lincoln IL. It was owned by Daris Knauer who was a family friend. I've spent countless hours talking with him about old stuff. He opened in 1959, and had the very first RJ-58 that he sold back in his showroom for many, many years. It was traded in several years after purchase and he never resold it. He had an amazing back room full of parts and older tractors. There are probably a lot of old timers here who will recognize the name and have bought parts from Lincoln Radiator. He sold out his inventory in 2008, coincidentally to someone who eventually became a member here lincolnpower38. That shop has since closed. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to own the sign when it came up on auction. It's really faded, it hung on the west side of a brick building for about 40 years. Who else owns one of their hometown dealer's signs?
