I have mine made also. But I use red for positive because I'm a Banana Head and would likely hook up a charger backwards!

My first was a 1998 ford ranger 4.0l ohv 4x4 with 3.73 axles short bed double cab sport. I loved that truck so much and wished I would have never sold it when I was 19 years and stupid..

Hello Glenn, Thank you for interest. I'll try & share as time goes on especially if i can grab the plough or blade soon. I'm not sure when i'll get it done but i may take it out, as is, for the 1st couple of shows. There is certainly a wealth of knowledge out there which is proving very useful.

I've saved my original post in this thread above. This list evolved into more than I ever thought it could be. I've had many emails and PMs from people thanking me for doing this list. Those messages have come from people who are touched in different ways by seeing a familiar name on this list. Some are related to the past proprietors of some of these, others just celebrate what this list represents as an homage to many small business entrepreneurs that had a dream and made a living. I thank you each and all for those messages. I celebrate with you those small business dreams. And I thank each and every one of you who have contributed to this list! If it was the original HH160 I would definitely rework it to keep it original, but I've got the 341 so that's the route I'm going. Who knows maybe I'll luck out and find one down the road and slide it in to make as it came from the factory!

I know it is a FORD thing....wonder what made me think that photo was a FORD? Senior moment I guess! Quite a lot of aluminum vs. steel truck ads on TV. If GM makes an aluminum truck in a few years, how they expect to sell it saying "steel is so much better" now!!
  18. 1 point
Nope. That's Ford doing that. I did read an article stating that GM was in the process of securing aluminum contracts and may go that route in 2017 or 2018. Nice truck Craig

The rear seat pan has a slight factory crease just below the rear tail lights. When I did the bodywork I did not go crazy trying to duplicate that crease. In order to sort of hide the roundness in the pan I added a pinstripe. It does what I wanted. The hoods have a lot of paint and no decals so I decided to add pinstripes there too. I am not sure if I am in love with the stripe going on the sides of the rear fender pan. I may end it in the back corners. For now here it is. Thoughts? I also got some correct speed nuts to install the rear tail lights. The last pic show some of the hay I put down yesterday outside the barn. Hope mother nature helps me out!

Yep Steve, its pretty nice to get into a warm vehicle in winter and cool vehicle in summer without leaving the house. If you have the heated and cooled seats, they work as well on the remote. I'm not sure what outside temp the computer decides on for the hot/cold etc. and i don't use it year around, but its really nice to get into a comfortable temp truck at the extremes of our weather.....

Ken, if you are talking about the key/fob combo,...... Like I said, my favorite, wish my truck was the same way, much easier to get in your pocket. I don't like the key and separate fob, I never have all my other keys with the vehicle keys and the small size of the fold in key/fob makes the pockets a little lighter.... That does bring back a lot of fond memories of camping way back in the day with Mom, Dad and all seven of us kids. Even as a little kid I loved the smell when Dad was makin coffee with the same exact percolator that you have. Dad was in charge of breakfast ALWAYS when we went camping. I don't know what it was about the scrambled eggs and bacon he made but they were the best ever!

Thanks Nappy Not much to report, the left side foot plate thingy is taking shape. As you can see it needed quite a bit of extra metal to get it to the right shape. And a slight change of plan. The frame I made to be welded under the fender pan is now being welded to the chassis. And the latest Why Not video for ya all..

I was out and about today and drove into Desoto. I have stopped by Mueller Motors-Olson before and always look to see what's in their yard. But I hadn't been there in a while. So I decided to stop in and say hello. They still have the RJ58 in their building, on a shelf. It's moved from the window as I always seen it before to the adjacent wall. I talked to Tony, who apparently now runs it and we talked about how tractors aren't made as sturdy as they once was. He said whenever they come across an older Wheel Horse that has them stumped on fixing it, they come here to RS for the answers.

While researching my grandparent's store I found this vintage Wheel Horse add from a newspaper dated March 30, 1969. My grandparents owned Brant's Farm and Garden Center in Somerset, PA and sold Wheel Horse tractors from approximately 1968 until the mid 1970's.

I want to thank you all who took part in my little survey... the results were really as I expected. I've finally had some time to rework the list in the first post and organize by state. (If you find an error in there, please just PM me, and I'll get it fixed as quick as I can) Thank you to all who have contributed to this list so far. I've updated with the available information through the last post. I've also updated the original post to include this paragraph. Keep them coming folks... there were thousands! We're just getting started!

I've only lived in Kentucky for ten years, so I don't know anything about the dealer where my tractor came from. The address is an old empty gas station.

Don't know the name yet, but I can tell you that these pictures are from the parking lot of Valley View Diner just south of there. (The photographer told me the Wheel Horse rigs picked up and delivered just off the next exit north on I-91)

I grew up in my grandparents dealership, it was "Zook's Hardware" They started selling Wheel Horses around 1965 in Burlington, Indiana. They moved the store to Kokomo, Indiana around 1986 and closed in 1997 when Lowes opened about 1/2 mile down the street. (damn those big box stores lol) Most of my early childhood was spent in their store, my cousin and I still tell grandma and grandpa stories about the things we did and got away with in that building. They also sold Stihl, Lawn Boy, and Simplicity, it was also a Tru-Value Hardware store. A couple years ago I found a brochure of blackhoods with the dealerships sticker on it. I took it to my local sign shop and had him print me a page of them on vinyl so I could put them on my horses.

Hoping that this can be an international project, here's my local dealership D J Scott of Warnford, Hampshire UK. It's a family run business started in the mid 70s and still going today. Sadly from our point of view the WH sign is no longer there and the showroom contains plastic Toro machines but there are a couple of little gems on display as well...... Unusually for the UK they hold a stock of commonly used OEM parts like wheel bearings etc as they still service some WHs from the 70s for local owners. I believe there are some other horses that have been restored by a guy that works there though I haven't actually seen them to get photographs. Here's another bit of UK memorabilia from the 70s with the 'G S Mowers' of Glasgow dealership stamp. Unlike D J Scott, G S Mowers didn't stand the test of time as a little bit of research revealed. (From the Glasgow Herald newspaper Nov 5, 1984) Andy

Arnett's Garage, Hagerstown MD. Out of business for about 10 years now. Have both the lighted sign and the metal sign that hung at the dealership hanging in my garage. Eby's Lawn and Garden took over the Toro line when they went out but do not have any old stock. All the old stock was sold at the time of sale. Was fortunate enough to bring home a few parts and pieces from that sale.

Kuhn Sales and Service, Bascom, Oh still open selling Toro and others. This is the Wheel Horse on a pole I own two machines with a sticker that says Fullers in Lansing, Mi I believe that they are still there but never confirmed. I usually get my parts from Brady's Power Equipment in Holt Mi. Although Dankin's in Jackson Mi is closer to me they seem to not want to be bothered with anything that is not Kubota.
