    Another guy who was all gung-ho and used to hang out here is doing exactly what your thinking about. He actually made quite a few guys angry since it kills the "hobby" of Wheel Horse tractors for anyone within a 400 mile radius of him. No longer can the average hobbyist scroll thru the local ads and Craigslist looking for a tractor, instead those in this guys area have to jump with the speed of light and get right over to meet the seller before the other guy swoops in a buys it. Or just wait till (the other guy) buys it and then gives it a bath and an oil change and jacks the price up. As a "hobbyist" tractor guy I'm against it, but this is America and you are free to do as you please. Mike........

    A few years back, I was selling lug nut kits for Wheel Horse tractors. I stopped making the kits when I got busy with my work, but now that I have retired, I am once again putting the kits together. Kit includes: 10 - 7/16-20 x 1-1/2" Grade 5, Zinc-plated bolts 10 - Zinc-plated 7/16-20 lug nuts Instructions for installation As soon as the kits are assembled and ready to ship, I will list them in the FOR SALE section.

    These two were for sale at a local auction this week. No history was available for either tractor. The RJ58 did not run, was redone with rattle cans, hood was wrinkled, good snow plow, new rear ags, engine was not froze and felt like it had good compression. The B-100 was all original paint with new decals, a perfect deck with original paint and decals, it ran and sounded perfect. The RJ sold for $325, Of course I don't know how high I would have had to go to get it. The B-100 I really wanted and stopped at $650. The auctioneer then said let it sit, he had a reserve that he never disclosed. So I came home with nothing in my mirror. OK, how bad did I goof up ?

    The only thing I like about the snow is taking rides thru the woods on my Rancher....but this winter the first real snowfall was to deep for it and everytime it snowed the old snow was still there, which made it way to deep, so I have not been out this season. But today I ventured out, forgot my camera the first time around so I took a second trip with my camera. Still plenty of snow but with the warmer temps its also getting muddy and sloppy. The quad struggled a bit in spots (tires are shot ) but I made it back home safe and sound. Pics: Mike............

    Bob...thanks...I am having a great year with the all seeing eye. So with that said..."if Squonk actually followed college basketball"...Mom always liked the way he would whine, and whine, and whine...me too by the way. It always uplifted my spirit...it is like knowing that there is always someone that has it worse then you. How cool is that?? Anyway...Mike's picks if he followed College Basketball...Kentucky, Arizona, Virginia, Duke. OH OH...the picks did not change. You would have to drink a little Rock & Rye to pick Michigan St. Wisconsin vs Arizona was an either way game...probably the only real toss up in the tournament. Mike, the best thing to do is stop listening to the ESPN announcers...only then can you achieve true consciousness. Rock & Rye my friends...

    Started out on a brisk 14 degree Sunday morning with this trailing me to the mountains of Maryland. And returned seven hours later with this! In between there was a little "Horse-Trading" between Joe Mazur (oiluj52) and myself. This is Joe and his delivery crew, Chuck "the Painter" and Fred "the Seat Tester." And the horses that were traded. So the score between MD and PA remains the same, but I added another oil-burner to my herd! I also tendered my resignation to the "520-H Club." Joe (and crew) did an excellent job on the conversion/refinishing. It surprised me with how much guts it has! I've got some plans of my own for some additional Bling and hope to bring it to the "Big Show" this year. Side note: I must be acquiring too many tractors as this is the fourth time I have rented this particular trailer. And they still haven't fixed the left side rampgate latch!!! But I have gotten smart and now carry a hammer.

    Back in my younger days I had a 3 wheeler. There eas a narrow stream in the woods like you have. I had no idea how deep it was. I had some chest waders so i decided to cross it. I still don't know how deep it was but that wheeler floated across it. I felt like Columbus when I made it to the other side.

    I posted in the thread - what's in your mirror about this tractor. I figured since I am going to be doing some work on it I may as well start a thread on it. This tractor was purchased from Baerpath this past weekend. He bought it was and never got around to doing anything with it. The lower wiring harness caught fire and the PO shut it off and put the fire out. He then sold it and I ended up with it. I have been looking for an xi series tractor for a while but the current owners had them all priced at what they should be (too much for me). Knowing this one needed work Baerpath gave me a good deal on it. I already replaced the burnt wiring with Fireman's help yesterday and I did a nice job soldering all the connections. Jeff looked up the parts that were needed and I ordered them. They will hopefully be here by the end of the week. I had some free time today so I started to pull the sheet metal off to take a look at what the underside looked like and get it cleaned up. Well here is what I found... After a lot of cleaning with the pressure washer I was able to get it nice and clean. I plan on touching up some areas on the frame to stop any rust and while the tins are off I may just have to sand them down and paint them. I think I will really like using this one so it will by no means be a show piece rather a nice clean worker. I was told the decals are NLA so I guess Terry may have to draw these up....

    Finally a decent day. Spent about an hour cleaning up dog muffins from the winter and cleared a path to get the RJ out of the shed so I can finish work on it. Couldn't resist putting a little Tru-Fuel in it and spinning it over. I didn't get the rope too hot like I used to on the Teckys! 4 or 5 pulls and it was running I have 6 Kohlers and 5 of them will only start with the throttle closed. Only the Sqonkfest 1267 wants the throttle open. Short video of up the street and back. Don't know if the neighborhood is ready for a Circus Bear on a Tricycle yet. Pardon the fat fingers in the beginning. I was so overwhelmed being able to "Horse Around" again I wasn't paying attention!

    Hi all, I picked up, what I'm pretty sure is, a wheel horse 42" sickle bar. Serial no. is still intact and reads A-40719. I'm pretty certain some of it is missing, but what is exactly missing? What model does this fit? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am in the UK and you don't see these things very often so I thought it was worth a shot Enjoy the pics. Thanks, Tom

    I was told of this tractor a couple of weeks ago called the guy and then life got in the way and didn't get back to him until this weekend. After talking to the gentlemen found out he was the original owner, maintaining it very well and kept it in a heated garage all it's life until recently when it had a problem (probably because it caught feelings over him buying a new zero turn) and needed repairs. He decided to sell and after making what I thought to be a ridiculously low offer brought it home to join the herd. It has 1176 original hours and the tractor and deck are in excellent shape as seen in pictures. The only problems are seat is torn and it needs a wiring harness (anyone have a harness hanging around?) and some minor tlc.

    Wow! Haven't done this in a while! Another save of an orphaned 'Horse from a local OPE shop. 1986 416-8 with 801 hours. Only known issues are a broken connecting rod and a few cannibalized parts. (coil & light switch) 48" deck appears to be in great condition other than the leading edge of the shell looks like it was used as a grader blade. Particulars weren't divulged, but I presume the owner didn't like the cost of repairs and traded it in on a running machine. They did tell me that the crankcase had very little oil upon arrival at the shop. No visible external damage or extra ventilation holes in the block, so I guess I'll open it up and assess the damage. Either way it's definitely worthy of repair.

    Yep this 70+ year old manure spreader is still able to fertilize the strawberry beds in preparation for the new plants. The blackberry plants also get their share.

    I second what Mike said. Wether you realize it or not that's a huge undertaking. I went to school for automotive, have my own machine shop, welder, sand blast cabinet, lift etc in my 20' x 30' workshop and I wouldn't undertake that. Given the price of gas with the distances you are talking there is not that much of a profit margin left. Good luck if you go ahead with this undertaking. Just remember you've burnt some bridges around here and that kind of reputation tends to follow you.

    What Sparky said.... I think that trying to make a profit buying and selling wheel horse tractors is not a winning proposition for anyone (buyer or seller). Don't get me wrong, I have been there and done that. I typically made a profit when I used to buy the "package". I would keep the tractor and sell the mower deck, plow or tiller that came with it. I did that for several years and it helped me pay for and build my collection. I have also done worker restorations and would go through the entire tractor (oil, filters, ignition, key switches, belts etc. etc.) Once done I would be happy if I made a profit at all. Like Sparky said it is up to you. My suggestion would be to expand your search of tractors you are looking to flip. You will be surprised at the market on a $300 to $500 craftsman rider. Many more buyers looking for those. I think that is where you may make your money.

    Daddy eagle brought a SQUONK up to the nest today. So far momma hasn't touched it. He just brought in a live white crappie and momma jumped right on it and is feeding it to the babies now. The bad news is he didn't take the SQUONK with him when he left.

    Finally have the 57 pretty much done! Just a few things to go back and fix and it will be finished. Started on this one over 2 years ago, just have been dragging my feet and working on it a little at a time. Pretty happy with how this one came back. I may attempt the paint pen trick on this one, but going to try it out on a another hood before I risk messing this one up. Anways here's a couple pictures of it out today, sorry they didn't turn out so well. Thanks, Jake

    I bought an older 40 inch Mid-Mount Grader Blade several months ago and also bought a lift link from one of the Red Square members that was making the early model lift link (#5678). I finally got around to installing it on the 314 Wheel Horse after I had removed my snowplow. The Mid-Mount Grader Blade attached fine on the front attach-a-matic but I was not really sure how the lift link was to be installed and which hole in the rock shaft on the 314 needed to be used to give the lift link the ability to have downward pressure with the lift handle. I finally realized it need to attach to the third hole in the upper rock shaft lift (the same hole the trunion for the chain link the holds up the T bar used to lift the mower decks). Easy to access thru the front panel on the 314 justy remove the two Phillips head machine screws and remove the trunion pin and install lift link for the Mid-Mount Grader Blade. My grader blade also has a nice feature that a previous owner installed - a welded steel plate/tab with hole for a hitch pin to place it in the rear slot hitch of a Wheel Horse . Here are some pics of this on the tractor.

    I'd use the Wisconsin. You would have to "clean" the frame and fabricate new motor mounts, but I'm betting the only reason Windolph used the B&S was a few bucks in price. And maybe you could get that hood to fit. However, that entails the type of clutch and transmission, and the mounting brackets for those. Humm, gonna be quite a ride. I'll be following this like a slug on a window.

    Steve, If you would come out of that basement once in a while you'd know I don't watch ESPN.It's the Weather Channel or the Hallmark Channel! And I whined because you got all the food and cool toys. All I got were table scraps and socks because you wouldn't wear any. I used them for ski hats because your size was so big! Your right about the picks. I would have picked the same because all of these games are a Crap Shoot! (Kinda like the way Cutler throws!) You have to pick 1 game out of a hat almost to be the spoiler. The monkeys were all leaning Virginia so I had to go that way so not to incur their wrath! Believe me it is not pretty. Sat is for all the marbles. You got the final four, but I have one bullet left just like Barney. My consolation is that the State of Wisconsin can once again prove it's superiority in the world of sports!

    That is a very nice RJ, my guess is that I will have more than $350 in mine when I restore it, but I will have the satisfaction of a job well done and the pride of ownership that comes with it. Looking at the ebay listing and the other things they are trying to sell I can tell that they just buy things they figure they can make a buck on.

    I'm wrong---I guess some of the early Tecky's with overhead valves were HH models and later became OH models. O for overhead valves and H for heavy duty cats iron engine. Sorry for the bad info.

    I think you've got a decent shot at a perfect slate Steve. Wisconsin does have a 7 footer but they are still going to give up some size. Wisconsin has the talent to beat them but they are going to have to play a great game. I'm glad that I'm neutral on that game.

    Well Fireman hinted someone was on a haul today. That someone was me. I went up to see Duane (Baerpath) today. Had I known that Tom was going yesterday I may have followed him up there... lol. I have been looking for an XI series tractor for a while now. Duane let me know he had one that needed some work. Those of you who know the story about my survivor barn (it caught fire and almost burned down). Well let's just say I will call this one the survivor tractor.... . Duane picked this up an his plans changed for it. He gave me a very fair deal IMO. My son Brennan and I left early today and went up and back all before 1:30. It was about 6 hours roundtrip. It was the first time I made it up to see Duane's place and I am glad I did. He has lots of big wheel horse stuff. Fireman decided to stop by as he was in the area and helped me figure out what we needed to do to fix this damage and get it running again. I really do not like to waist time so while Jeff was surfing the net finding the parts I needed I started to replace the burnt wiring with the solder gun and got all the wiring replaced that needed replacing. I had to order the igniter (see pic) and was not sure on the coil pack but ordered one for good measure. Once they come in I will install them and get al the wiring in a new wire loom and tie wrap them up nice. We put a jump pack on the starter to make sure the starter worked and it did. I want to thank Duane for a good deal, I will get her running right and I guess this summer she will get some paint too. I washed it up before we worked on it. Here are some pics.

    It's worth more than what you have into it in parts. Just saying. I restory antique outboards and can't stand to see old machines and motors get scrapped. I applaud anyone who is willing to take a project like this on. Trying to figure out why someone would grind off the teeth of the sprocket. What in the world were they doing with it. Mine does not have the original Wisconsin engine either but it still has a Wisconsin, just newer and more HP.

    Well, it's been an er.. interesting few days! Things started well with a frame being made to add some strength to the fender pan.. This frame will be welded to the pan and some extra cross members put in for the seat to bolt to, once I get a seat that's not got and splits in it! And then the rose joints I ordered for making steering arms turned up in the post. So I set to, cutting up some thick metal.. A quick mock-up later to check that the steering would work.. And this is where a slight mistake was spotted... Can you spot it? Turn the steering wheel to the right.... And the wheel hubs turn to the left!!! I think "Oops" is the correct word As I said... An interesting few days I need to do a few tweaks but the steering is now sorted... It even steers the right direction
