Finally have the 57 pretty much done! Just a few things to go back and fix and it will be finished. Started on this one over 2 years ago, just have been dragging my feet and working on it a little at a time. Pretty happy with how this one came back. I may attempt the paint pen trick on this one, but going to try it out on a another hood before I risk messing this one up. Anways here's a couple pictures of it out today, sorry they didn't turn out so well. Thanks, Jake

Sometimes I don't do much other times a batch On c-161 but I always make a point to do something , So I'm always going forward even if it's only a little And everything seems to go well taking my time And many times I come up with a better idea About things that way. My wife has always told me I don't need to think I have To get it all done in a day and now that I'm not able to do For hours on end , I guess she was right all along. Hard to admit that !!!!!!

Wow! Haven't done this in a while! Another save of an orphaned 'Horse from a local OPE shop. 1986 416-8 with 801 hours. Only known issues are a broken connecting rod and a few cannibalized parts. (coil & light switch) 48" deck appears to be in great condition other than the leading edge of the shell looks like it was used as a grader blade. Particulars weren't divulged, but I presume the owner didn't like the cost of repairs and traded it in on a running machine. They did tell me that the crankcase had very little oil upon arrival at the shop. No visible external damage or extra ventilation holes in the block, so I guess I'll open it up and assess the damage. Either way it's definitely worthy of repair.

Im looking forward to playing around with it. It needs a good coat of paint and a couple rear tires.

Hi everyone! Steve here. I am a newbee Wheel Horse owner. I buought what I believe to be a 1960 Wheel Horse 400 or 550 at an auction 2 weeks ago, It does not have an original engine (has a briggs 5hp). My plan is to restore it so it can be used by my 3 (soon to be 4) grandkids to cruize around our small farm. I found this site after looking around on the web and in a short time have realized there are good people here and great information. So...... Here I go on a the restoration. Getting the steering wheel off proved to be a fun first challange :*****: ! Here are some picsof our project!.

Last night I went to the Hickory Gun Club's weekly dinner. Steamed clams, steamed mussels, and snow crabs over pasta. Dandelion salad, homemade white pizza, fresh bread, and all you want beer or soda. Delicious and only $15. Tonight Carol and I are going to our local tractor club's annual dinner. Not getting much work done but I'm eating good.

A lot of food for thought in this collection of photos Glen. I was born in 1949...I am starting to know what my Grandpa felt like when people talked about the old days (he was 93 when he passed about 15 years ago). Can you imagine the tabloids if Michel Obama sat on Mr T's lap now a-days?? Brutal for sure.

Speaking for Kentucky... And I can say what they are thinking because they are in the hotel where I have an office. They are not even thinking about that game. It is history. No one mentioned the score, how they played, or what the out come was. It was all about the numbers. Shooting percentage from the filed, percentage from the line, rebounds, ect. They are focused on what they did wrong, where they missed opportunities to capitalize on additional points/rebounds...ect. The team is in humble yet confident mode. The confidence is not overwhelming at all. I talked to Willie Stein when I saw him after his breakfast. WVA is not even in his mind. It's gone, done, they are focusing on ND. That is how a true champion team set's itself up for victory. Ohio State did the same thing. They didn't even talk about the wins they had, they talked about the next team they faced. That is exactly what Kentucky is doing. RMC

Our back yard visitor. He is a cross between a coyote and a red fox. He is larger then a red fox and has the tail of a coyote. Talking to some old timers that said he was considered a red coyote.

While looking through CL last month, I spotted an ad for an interesting tiller only an hour away. I recognized the brand and was pleasantly surprised with the photos. It wasn't just a tiller, it was a United Farm Tools "Mountaineer" with the tiller attachment. The deal was actually made three weeks ago but weather, trips to the hospital (not me!), etc. prolonged the event. There were only about 1,300 tractors manufactured by the L&G division of UFT in Charleston, West Virginia. The Mountaineer was designed by former Gravely employees and corrected some of the engineering idiosyncrasies of the Gravely. It has eight forward ground speeds and four reverse. The powertrain can be disconnected which eliminated Gravely creep plus it has headlights among other improvements. They used Kohler 8 and 12 hp K-series engines. A number of attachments were produced including a three blade 40" mower deck. The interesting part is that the mounting was identical to the Gravely so powered attachments could be interchanged between the brands. This is an 88E with an electric start K-181S. The serial tag is missing but I dated the engine to 1980. It currently doesn't run plus has two flat tires. It made for an interesting move. The starting point had a forklift whereupon it slipped off and tumbled onto its side in the dirt. Didn't want to record that poo-poo, but there was no damage. Then when I got it to the house, I needed to utilize "Cisco" with the HF crane along with Scott's and Tom's receiver hitch plus crane adapter. (The tractor weighs 445 pounds so that speaks well for the hitch and adapter!) It actually went a lot better than I had expected on my end. I lowered it onto HF car dollies after lifting it out of the trailer until I can get to the tires. The weather also cooperated with 72 degrees on December 1st! The tractor is in surprisingly good shape externally. The colors look like a Kubota-orange with medium dark metallic blue. Hopefully it was something minor that sidelined it as parts for the tractor portion will be next to nil on availability. I never thought that I would see one due to being unique yet alone own one. It will probably be a project next year as there are three tractors ahead of it right now. Here is a brochure: http://gravelymanuals.com/pdf/Mountaineer_Tractor_And_Attachments.pdf

I had this 1954 Dodge Red Ram Hemi engine laying in the garage for many years. I wanted to build a power unit out of it but I tripped over these 1959 Copar Panzer parts and thought, hmmmm! So I have it mocked up so far but I'll have to make a new frame and weld it together. It looks pretty beefy so far! Should I do it or what? Looks like a done deal to me! KJ
