Bmsgraffer got me to thinking with his post about the group buy on the suit case weights so I thought I would try to make up sum weights and a mounting bar and post sum pics as I go the weights I made are no near the 40 pounds each but more in the 8 to 9 pounds each range but I think they will still serve a purpose I cut out 7 of them from 5/8 steel 4 are out of stainless steal I will post sum more pics when I get a mounting bar made up

Nice Find! Not sure if I would restore that one, would look very nice with a good clean up and the wheels repainted, but totally up to you. Looks like a very nice tractor!

I love seeing shots from that side of the pond. Absolutely beautiful! The big question is, How many tractors could Craig stuff into those buildings?

I was wondering what my Wheel Horse Tractor cost when it was new? I search the site and didn't see any documents or and information on prices. It would be cool if someone had a list or if there's a list out there on all the Wheel Horse tractors from 1950s to 1990s on prices when they come out of the showroom. Great photos Love the horse by the watering trough. Is this a working farm, I see a big green machine hiding behind the bushes ? Is the knob on the lift lever push rod stock, or was it added ?

Well, You probably don't need to run your central air anyway. Just open a window.

I use a can of Berryman Chem Dip. Its specifically made for carburetors and even comes with a tray to put it all in and dunk it. It doesnt hurt anything and Ive never had a carb it couldnt clean to brand new. Why would you use something that wasn't meant to clean correctly for what you have? Thats like saying its good to use 60 grit sandpaper to clean bugs off your cars paint or windshield....sure it works but its not the proper method

Thanks Mike...I was just about to get you involved here. See you all at Mentone.

I enjoy looking at the prices of the old wheel horses from what seemed a slower paced world. I paid more for my RJ58 with a stuck trans and worn out motor than it cost new. I guess it costs a lot to visit the old neighborhood, but is well worth it. I'm glad you guys kept the old receipts .

It would cost a lot for the metal but I cut them out at work from scrap on the CNC plasma I still have to pay for it but its a lot cheaper

Let's see if I can make this work... For Christmas this past year, my kids gave me a couple of tickets to see Gov't Mule at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby PA, just outside of Philadelphia. So on January 3rd, my wife and I got to see one of my favorite bands play live, first time since 1998. It was an excellent show, at one of our old favorite sites from many years ago, hell the floors are still sticky from the 1980's! A couple of days later, I found this video on youtube... It worked!

Something eerily peaceful about the steam from houses / buildings rising straight up into the air . People call me nuts but soon we'll be swatting flies & scratching mosquito bites .

I rely on my '85 416-8 the most, the most. Never any problems with this Stallion or my '88 414-8. They're all great tractors, not from a BIG Box store!

Some paint and varnish removers contain bases that quickly attack and dissolve aluminum. (OUTSIDE.....put aluminum in a plastic container of Drano or caustic solution and stand back). Don't breath the fumes either! Any Ammonium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide or drain cleaner, (sodium hydroxide), will destroy an aluminum carburetor along with any base pH solutions that I see in varnish removers. Your Strypeeze Paint & Varnish remover doesn't contain any bases BUT it does contain 25% to 30% dichloromethane. Dichloromethane will react with aluminum at pure strengths and less so diluted but it will attack it to some point. The other solvents in it include toluene, acetone and some methyl alcohol which are fine. I don't know about the acid dip long enough to change color either. Even a weak muratic acid will pit the hell out of aluminum. Point is to be careful with what you clean these old carbs with. My NAPA one gallon paint can of carb cleaner works well for me and it states it is for all metals.

The rain didn't come through last night so the snow stayed pretty much intact. Turns out we were in one of the heavier bands of snow. The ice underneath started to cause problems with clogging. I didn't have problems with the two neighbors driveway that I did today (the third is in Florida - too bad) but when I went over mine that I cleared last night, a lot was turning to slush. The county truck has yet to come so I couldn't get down to the other two neighbors. I will probably need to plow them as we are going in to the low 40's today. Here is today's crew ready to get to work. I use the Ariens for my walk, and I will be getting a load of fuel this week so I will cut a path to my tank fill. And Paladin working.

The forecast was for 3"-5" of snow but changing to rain tonight. I wasn't sure what would still be remaining in the morning, so I thought that I would at least do my driveway. I was surprised when I went out as it was at 10" - and still coming down when I cleared this! Unfortunately the snowthrower makes more noise than the sweet sound of the diesel. I'm still only running a partial throttle until I get a tach installed, but I did bump it up about halfway through the second video. Tomorrow I'm going to try 1/2 throttle.

I've been a body man for 30 years, Lead is NOT for filling holes nor is Bondo, they are for filling dents or maybe pits, lead if you've never done it can be hard to master, I can do it but bondo is faster and cheaper, and no if done right bondo will not crack or fall out, it's not for making sculptures, its for finishing off dents or minor imperfections AFTER the metal has been repaired close to orig. and has been prepped properly, and I use Copper as a backer when welding holes shut, I have used brass but for me copper works better, if your not good at welding thin metal, might be best to farm it out to someone that is, once you warp the hood, you will have a VERY hard time fixing it after that, buy some sheet metal the same thickness or a junk hood and drill a few holes and practice, like I said you screw it up it could look worse than it did with a few holes in it.

Well done Craig! Apparently it's your fault that Boston has received record snowfall. Shall we assume you're happy with your purchase?

The is an item Chuck "Wheel-Mule" will be raffling off at the swap meet. He will be selling chances to win this item to help raise money for supporting Mentone Swap Meet expenses. He will be donating all proceeds from the raffle. Thanks for looking.

We have a high end cub at work (They used to have a 520 with the 2 stage blower but now I have it ) and after 3 years it is now on it's second blower because the first one got so bent and twisted that we just replaced it. Blower is made of really light gage metal, seat pan and hinge assembly is plastic and has broken twice. Machine is shaft drive and where shaft connects to engine flywheel is a plastic coupler that has literally exploded. I can go on about how corners were cut on this machine. Unit was purchased from a Cub dealer for over $12,000.00 with blower, wheel weights, and chains. Plusses are hydro drive, shaft drive (supposedly), power steering, engine runs smoothly. I do not expect this machine to be around in 20 years. Cleat

Originally sold, 6 July 1963, my model 653 sold for $554.50. Still a bargain to this very day.

You need to get into collecting literature! A lot of times you'll find price lists in those treasure chests. That 420LSE you pictured was $8000 in 1986. But relax, that price included the mowing deck. What a value! Wheel Horses were always quite expensive. We tend to trivialize this today when we buy a running C-series for $300. Steve

I think your tractor is TOO SMALL for your yard. You need a Power King and I need a smaller loader!!
  48. 1 point
I've been thinking in the back of my mind that someday I should sell my Power King. I could use the room. Really would like a nice RJ or Suburban . If I did, I'd probably kick myself Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
