I just got done building my own land leveler. Thought I'd share the pics. Very happy with it as it will cut right down through snow and ice on the drive and pull gravel. It's 5 ft wide and being pulled with my sons 73' 16 auto.

They are saying it is a record snow in Chicago land...the 702 did great...bring it on. Some channels are saying it is the 5th biggest snow on record. This video was taken at the 1/2 way point of the storm.

Hello All and Happy February! I'm hoping that those of you who know all about the Round hoods could help to identify the new member of my family. I found a serial number tag on the upright frame section which supports the steering column that reads "Serial number 7053". I've taken some pictures also so you all could give me your opinion on what I have here. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

well we ended up with a lot more snow than expected,10 to 12 inches,had to go to work because my boss wouldn't give us the day off,thats another story,so I get home about 6,try to start one of the 414,s with blower,she wont fire,its been reak=lly cold up here,around -15 for days,so I get out the trusty spray bottle with gas,remove the filter and start pumping the sprayer and it soaks my gloves and wont spray,so I find another bottle(I just want to get the snow blown,dont have time for this crap)get her started and blow for 1 and 1/2 hours and then the chain breaks,drag her back and try to start the c160 with blower,no way battery is low,so I go to the 312 with blade,halve to boost it and it takes many many trys,finally get her running push a bunch of snow and then the chain for the hydro lift breaks,man not my day,was gonna get out my other 414 with plow but its really cold out and ive had enough for today,its strange because ive had all running lately and they are all good starters usually,run no ethonal fuel,so I don't get it,all 3 hard to start today

When keeping a tractor in it's original "work clothes", what are some of the things you guys do? I'm looking and in the process of getting my hands on all-original workes, as I don't have the time to restore right now but will need something for when I get my own place after college. Right now I'm thinking they are going to need the rims painted, seats painted, electronics, wear parts, motor, etc... gone through. Possibly decals replaced, then aged --and??? I'm looking to get them into orignal condition, with their battle scars, but nice enough to show. Any tips/prefrences would be appreciated. :)

Unless I sell this hotel room this is where I will be staying at the south mountain fairgrounds. If I do sell it then I will have a little upgrade at the same addy....

6 to 14" coming my way overnight. I'll have to get up around 3 A.M. so it gives me an excuse not to watch the Super Bowl. Haven't run the blower yet so a little road test was in order.

I'm laughing about this post, I think hockley valley is talking degrees Celsius, you stateside guys will be talking Fahrenheit. holy crap -15 Fahrenheit, I don't think things still live at that temperature! anyway us Canadians are snug in our igloos, I had a slick salesman at my shop trying to sell me some icecubes! newt (lol)!

I've purchased several that needed nothing more than regular maintenance. They're are plenty of them out there. I had a 312-8 which I painted the tin and dressed it up a little. Nothing serious. A year later I heard a weird noise from trans, and that's no easy task given the noise of motor. Tore trans apart and found 2 bad needle bearings. Wasn't all that difficult but I had no intention of getting involved. My advice if you go though as much trouble as I did on this one don't ever sell it. Cause it'll probably last another 20-30 years!

Great to see! It always amazes me to watch my neighbors with 18 to 20 horsepower lawn mowers that can't plow snow. And my 8 HP Wheel Horse pushing the snow all over the place. But I am jealous of the Hyd. system. My left arm gets a work out when I plow.

I have made a few signs but not many.. these signs I made was cut out of thin 1/8" either oak or ask (depending on the sign pictured) and then glued to either walnut or heat modified poplar. They are finished with clear house paint. which is the best you can get for being in the elements.. Better than that expensive stuff they say is designed for outdoor use by a long shot. It is nothing more than buying exterier house paint and having them not put any color in it.. It looks white but will dry clear. Anyway I had been contemplating offering something just like these shown but with the Wheel Horse Logo on each end.. They would be a nice feature to hang at the shows.. with either your name or your screen name to people would know who you are.. Anyway these here I made for friends or family this last Christmas. Picture of the roosters and the jeep are Ash glued to walnut. Sorry for the poor quality photos but these are before they had a finish and my cheap phone camera.The one with the eagles is made of oak and a two sided sign and glued to a poplar board that I baked in the oven for an hour to make it dark like walnut.. If there is enough interest I may be convinced to make a few with the W.H. logo.. Measures about 15" long and 5" tall

Got the blow shield done. made from 8 inch ID aluminum tube with a .312 wall. That should stop anything that gets throw at it. I HOPE. any way I incorporated the clutch pivot and a clutch slave cylinder. so its a clean and easy way to work on.

While mowing lawn came across this little guy, probably minutes old. Could not even stand up.

If you use the "Slime" and at a later date remove the tire, you will be very upset with yourself for making the slimy mess. Tube them!

I'm posting this in "Engines" since it is an Onan P-216G which is the source of my frustration. The first rule of Murphy's Law says: "If anything can go wrong, it will". There have been many variations to that law, one of which is "if you drop something, no matter it's shape, it will roll to the farthest corner of your work area". The distance it goes it directly proportional to the value or availability of a replacement. So my story goes like this. I am in the garage last night doing some more assembly work to the P-216G. All the covers are on and I am completing the repair and reinstallation of the wiring harness. Then I notice that I have failed to install the linkage that runs between the carburetor and the governor. Well that's simple enough. Remove the air cleaner housing, and install the darned thing. All goes well until I attempt to install this. Over the last few years, I have lost sensitivity in my finger tips, so holding on to small objects is a challenge. As I am inserting the rod into the clip, I drop the clip. I grab my LED flashlight and start looking down into the area of the engine where it logically could have gone, but I don't see it. So...off comes the front engine cover, ignition module, etc. Still no luck. Checked the floor, under the shelving, in my shoes, everywhere. So I go on to my local NAPA store this morning and buy a new one. Came home and decided to take one more look, and there it was, stuck between two of the magnets on the back side of the flywheel. So I am creating a new law called Maynard's Law. If you can't find something, just go buy a new one. The old one will show up immediately.

Hey Kevin.That 312-8 sounds familiar.

Was out a work plowing with Skonk and my headlight's were flickering. Linus poked him in the eye! Had to wait for light so I could repair it.

Everything I can find about the C-141 (1978 and 79)says it has Sundstrand 90-1173 power, not 90-1171. (Typo maybe.) The .pdf file is a generalized book on Sundstrand models 90-1136, 37, 40, 73, 73 etc. The schematics are also generalized, as well as the part lists. Going to the Toro website (toro.com) and locating C-141, it shows Sundstrand model 90-1173 with a schematic of the Hyd motor and parts listing (partial list here) to show that the shaft is part# 200251. I converted that schematic with partial part # listing and attached it here. Copy of C-141 HYD MOTOR.pdf

If the tow valve is stuck, use a crescent wrench to back off (out) the top nut several turns. The whole valve comes out, then cleaned it up refit it.

If your set screw is broken...it is hardened steel...hard to drill. It may turn out by hand if you can get a hold of it. You can buy them on line, but in lots of 25. If you need one send me a PM and I can mail you one.

thanks all for the comments! This did start out as a partial redo, but part way through I decided to switch gears....I was just going to prime it and mechanically make it right, but ended up going for a full resto....wanted to do it right the first time. I may suffer under the same disease as you martin, but I'm not that good with details yet....maybe someday. Anyways, not much new progress on the rj, I did go through the recoil today, as it was not catching, put new pauls, and felts inside it, and it now works good, and got it mounted, looks good on there. And also, while I was going to paint the rims black for this, I wanted to paint the rims on the 55 I picked up a couple weeks ago, blasted them, and hope to spray these parts black tomorrow. And while the rj was sitting there with no wheels, I wanted to fix the leaking rear end, turns out the axle has a lot of slop in it, I didn't mess with it much today just ripped it apart, hopefully I can just change the bushings, and seal and it will be ok, but not sure yet. Anyways, here's a couple pics of it as it sits Have no school tomorrow from the snow, so hope to work on the rear end on the 55 tomorrow.

I was looking at 6-8" as of last week, then yesterday as I finished prepping my plow tractor, i heard the latest update... 44*F and rain all day... All I want is ONE decent snow this year. I get depressed if spring rolls around without any plowable snow. My seat time is just riding the tractor up and down the road with the plow mounted, and my wife is thoroughly embarrassed when I do that.

Yes. I was thoroughly impressed the first time I used the two stage. The other day I accidently ate a 3 gallon wooden flower water jug. It was completely fine. The 73 is also a plowing animal. The plow had been previously modified to fit a 4 wheeler. I didn't get the axle bracket so I just moved the mid mower mount back for mounting it. Works great. We got heavy rain one day and the next day was test day for it. The foot of snow we had turned into 6" of the heaviest snow I've ever seen. Without weights it would push about 15-20 feet. Put the weights on and it's unstoppable.

75 B80 with plow, 93 520H I put in Matt's hydro pedal. It works great! After using a cab, I won't go without one again.

Today lake effect kicked in 18 inches here south of buffalo.... Big D took care of it. Also I got a thing for these Wheel horse Sleds lately this is my 3rd one now...
