I used to post a significant amount of help articles and quite frankly I have stopped because of what Cas is describing. Many folks can confirm I have taken to "private sessions", a great help to the problem owner but unfortunately not visible or of any benefit to other forum members. I chose to work with issues this way to prevent confusion on the part of those less experienced with electrical work, Too many cooks in the kitchen gets confusing and sometimes contradictory posts end up taking the owner temporarily off track. Before anyone cries out electrical elitism, I am not claiming others inputs are incorrect, just opening up too many options for the owner to follow. If another forum member offers what amounts to "drive by" advice, makes one post with no explanation of why or how the owner should perform their suggested action, the owner ends up being further confused. The "drive by" adviser somehow is never heard from again. The next contributor, has to spend additional time and effort to either "un-explain" the "drive - by's" suggestion or possibly be forced to comment on the validity of the post to prevent the session from going off track. The value of having a locked (even pinned) help tutorial is obvious. Most folks who take the hours - yeah HOURS - of their own time to create these posts and videos usually have a handle on best practices needed to resolve a specific issue. Having a locked post allows the owner of the problem a direct one stop shopping experience to resolve their issue. I believe if someone takes the HOURS needed to create a detailed tutorial for the benefit of all members of the forum, mods should be able to invest MINUTES to lock the post. Sorry if any of this is harsh, but it is why I don't post tutorials anymore.

HO slot cars! My 11 year old grandson came over last weekend so we got out my mega collection of slot cars and track! I have 4 tackle boxes full of slot cars and a few other original Thunder Jet slot car cases full of oldies! I have Thunder Jets, A/FX Magna Traction, Tyco Pro and 440X2 mostly. This is a fun hobby and my buddy and I have been doing it since we were about 13 years old so that is 40 years worth of collecting and racing these little buggers! Anybody else into this hobby? I think Lane Ralph is into it. I may have more slot cars than Wheel Horse tractors!

I hate how I have some item stored in some really bizarre location but refuse to move it to the more logical place, BECAUSE I know that as soon as I do I will NEVER remember the new location.

I'm with Lane. They now sell new affordable replacements. Here is another source for a new replacement for the SSI unit. http://overnight-solutions.com/index.htm

I've owned many of these along the way. Simplicity is my other favorite brand besides Wheel Horse. The Garden Tractors are very stout and used either Briggs or Kohlers. I Never saw a "Techy" in the Garden Tractor line.

After looking for a larger used Cabinet Blaster for a few months I decided to build one. I did some research reading through several builds on the net, and looking at manufactured models. My cabinet work area is 48"w x32"H x 39"D and takes some design features from units manufactured by TP Tools. A lot of my designs start with available scrap and I had a lot of 3/4" scrap plywood, and a pile of scrap 18-20 gauge sheet metal to work with. Here my cabinet lined with sheet metal. I'm going with a front load design because loosing shop wall space for a side door opening was not a good option. Here the cabinet side view. I suspect I may add a side door for long items some day.I used contact cement to attach the sheet metal to the plywood. Used 2 coats on the wood and one coat on the metal which worked very well. I cut all the sheet metal with an abrasive blade in my table saw. The seams are sealed with silicone caulk. The cabinet hopper has a 1: steel pipe fitting in the bottom to attach the media siphon valve The Tacoma company sells an upgrade kit for Harbor Freight cabinets. I purchased it and it has a foot air valve, media siphon valve, air regulator and blast gun. Dave at Tacoma was really good to talk to and helped size the blast gun nozzle and orifice in the media valve to my compressor. I'm getting excited to try this out! The front load door is my last challenge,

If your battery is 10 years old, it is shot. Put a NEW battery in there and see what happens. NEVER EVER EVER "rap" on a starter. Hammers don't fix electrical problems.

I have rebuilt countless Kohler engines and primarily use aftermarket parts because of cost. Not a single one has ever had a problem. Proper rebuilding procedures will give excellent results.

This thread is fantastic. I spend at least 20% of my shop time looking for something...or trying to remember why I walked to the tool chest. It is amazing how far things can bounce and roll on concrete. I don't even bother looking for many things just slap on a replacement. (Like the detent ball in the stick shift tranny's. I bought a bag of 100 from McMaster and I haven't looked for one since.

well I'm really glad this group therapy session is getting somewhere! I always get to the point that I'll think to grab another similar sized object and drop it in the same place to see where it went... only to be looking for 2 for another 10 minutes

Here is another alternative. These old big Tecumseh motors are used still in the Texas oil fields. http://welderpartswarehouse.net/Tecumseh_Ignition_Upgrade_610748_610906.html

Steve I think he is simply stating that they should maybe pinned in a help forum. I think that would work much better then the search method because a lot of people potentially helped might not know to search for them specifically or might have issues wording a search to come up with the appropriate results. The search function is a finicky animal anyway. It would also be easier on people who aren't as computer literate. Not everyone that plays with these vintage machines is as good on the PC as the WH.

I have owned Simplicity / Allis Chalmers Big Ten's and Simplicity Landlords. I will say this, if I had more room I wish I still had these two. They ain't no joke. You can lock the rear diff. for posi and the Brigg's motor's they used were a good engine.. I had a snow thrower on the Big Ten and it threw BIG TIME snow with ease and with that posi they can push a heck of a lot of snow. They do a wicked nice job cutting grass. Yes, they are a little harder to work on than a Wheel Horse but they are built tough. Buy a decent one and it's not like you'll be working on it everyday..

Everybody round here better be gettin their snowplows and snowblowers ready. There calling for 8-12 inches where I'm from. I got the Wheel Horse 1276 with the snowplow and a simplicity 6010 with a snowblower on stand by. I'm prepared. Are you?

ive used one on a gehl skid steer,it was useless in wet snow,im not saying a wheelhorse unit wouldn't work, but the skid steer model wasn't as impressive as I would have thought,in cold snow it was great, but when it plugged you had to get out and manually clear it

Sounds like your fuel pump is bad. They are rebuildable. I have saved several non-working pumps by taking them apart and cleaning the two check valves. If you are losing fuel, make sure it has not entered the crankcase and diluted your oil.

My intent here is not to make myself a nuisance nor to show preferential treatment to certain members's posts. However sometime ago I suggested that certain instructional videos by a few members be placed here all together on this forum for everyone to have knowledge of them and easy access. That suggestion got moved to the site suggestions and updates where it seems that it is conveniently forgotten since most don't visit there often. Granted that those videos are not as "glamorous" or as interesting to most as general conversation regarding wheelhorses, such as how many tractors we have, what tractor came home today.... and so on and on. Nevertheless we have here something of value to all of those who care and are interested in the preservation of wheelhorses, that should be apreciated and shared by all concerned. So, there, like the title to this post says, what does it take to get this acomplished? Its not possible? Its not approved? Am i off base here? I am not going about this the right way? If so please someone enlighten me. At the very least someone with authority here give me an answer.

Steve, seems to me that the trickiest part of rebuilding the ball bearing would be to figure out how to re-rivet the cage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6svVy1lYOA

I'm good at losing things - I forget where I laid a tool 2 minutes after it was used, put things places figuring that's the best place for it until I go for it and forget what I did with it . Think my best one is a pair of glasses, ( my prescription glasses ) about 5 years ago I put or laid those things somewhere, when I got up for work they weren't on the kitchen table where I always put them. Wife and I tore this house apart, every cupboard , closet, trash you name it . My $500 glasses were never found to this day- lost another pair fixing the leader on my fishing line in the middle of the Sinnemahoning Creek because I was too stubborn or cheap to buy a lanyard Least I know where that pair is ( about ) wife was none to happy with that one .

Kick butt!! Good way to keep young. I brought out my remote control cars from when I was a kid. My son got one from the store for Christmas so we're having a blast with them.

Couple friends of mine were into these when I was about 13....there was a hobby shop in town and they would buy all kids of neat stuff for them to race with. You have a BUNCH of stuff there.....bet that brings the kid out of ya!!!

Well, here is southeastern MA, we received between 18-24 inches of the fluffy stuff. Hard to get an accurate total with all the wind and drifting. I took out the 520xi with a single stage blower two times to clear it out. That thing can really move the snow. I tried Sno-jet for the first time on the auger and chute. With all the wind and the blizzard created by the blower, it was hard to tell if snow jet made any difference. However, after the "dust" had settled, I could see evidence of disturbed snow at least 40 feet down range.
  41. 1 point
We only got about 5 or 6 inches also. But it was fun to get to use the snowblower! Cold, but fun!

Thanks for all the help guys. We have settled in on a name. I never liked my name in a business and never done it so we're going simple. We are going to become just simply Wheel Horse Stables. Next month all of the lettering on the business, cards, etc will be changed and that's how the phone will be answered.

Got...maybe 6" of the slick, dry, powdery stuff here overnight... definitely was a far cry from the Armageddon forecasters were predicting(not complaining)... did the drive and side with the blower, early this morning...wasn't pretty, but did make it happen though. Just connected the dots to the shed out back, chose my plow this time, and went much better.

That's 'bout what we got, five inches of the white junqué! Since we picked up the Work Horse late summer/fall haven't tried a plow job other than push a little gravel. The Work Horse didn't have any problem. Our first Briggs '83 Horse, we like Kohler! Somewhat pleased we added the Dial-A-Height too! The Onan 520-8 took a breather while son pushed the snow.
