6 pointsGot...maybe 6" of the slick, dry, powdery stuff here overnight... definitely was a far cry from the Armageddon forecasters were predicting(not complaining)... did the drive and side with the blower, early this morning...wasn't pretty, but did make it happen though. Just connected the dots to the shed out back, chose my plow this time, and went much better.

5 pointsA friend brought this by yesterday. From what I have read on Red Square the first 500 Special had a H60 recoil start. This one has a HH60 with recoil and electric start. Looks to be fairly complete with the original seat. The cushion is torn, but you can still see the wheel horse logo. Thought some of you might like pictures. I'm more into the bigger HP tractors so I will sell or trade this one.
-
5 pointsIt's been a while since I added to the WH side of the collection, but today I aquired a pretty nice 603. It has a few minor issues here and there, but with a little elbow grease and some attention I think it's going to be a pretty nice little rig. The original Techy runs quite well - even though I'm not a fan. The steering wheel is super mint.
-
4 pointsWell here in central Ohio we only got a mere 5 inches of the white stuff! Bummer for my snow plow rig, a 1974 A90 Special! I fired it up anyways and let it fly. The county snow plow didn't even bother to go down my road so I did part of my road and my one neighbor did part of the road too with his new fangled Cub Cadet tractor. Then I did my driveway and my neighbor ladies driveway too just for fun. It took about 2 hours to do all of this. This is the first time I got to use my snow plow this winter! So far we haven't got much snow this year, not like most of you guys are getting!
-
3 pointsOff topic but looking at your avatar brings back memories. Many years ago I was privileged to have this beautiful creature.
-
2 pointsJust in case you wondered, everyone in northern Wisconsin and the Upper penninsula of Michigan is laughing their asses off right now. A two foot drop of snow is not historic, does not shut down the city for three days, and does not require the National Guard. It is called Tuesday, and it happens all the time!
-
2 pointsLike the one I have, that I cant get done. Lol BUT,,,,,,,,,,and I am no expert. The motor "should be" a recoil start, period. Did not read anywhere of a electric start. The rumor says that MANY DEALERS changed engines to make the tractor more desireable and marketable. Its still sweet, and once done a beauty. All the above, my humble comments. A great tractor. Glenn

2 pointsSorry hahaha, it's on my electro 12 with a 42 inch blade, weights, and chains. Oh, and a cab! Haha. Love the new cab

2 pointsHard to measure what we ended up with because of all the drifting but I have about 14"-20" of new snow here. My small town has two pickups and two dump-trucks for snow removal.....we now have two pickups and ONE dump-truck!! Saw this about an hour ago (sorry, cheapie cell phone pic thru my truck window) The driver was out and talking to another driver so I'm thinking no injuries. Its only on its side so maybe it could be pulled back over and get back to work ?? Mike.............
-
2 pointsAnd if the tranny drive pulley is OK, check the axle keys.
-
2 pointsSounds like the woodruff key on the transmission drive pulley has come out or sheared. Jack the back end up so the wheels are off the ground, start the engine. The pulley on the transmission should be turning, and the input shaft that it is mounted on should be turning with the pulley. If it is not, pull the pulley off and inspect the key.

2 pointsDepends what you like Brrly. Our show will have a lot that the Big Show doesn't from what I've heard. We will have 100's of acres to play on and will actually be able to use them. There will be fields surrounding the main show area set apart for mowing, plowing, tilling, etc. If anyone wants to use any equipment we will have a place for it. I can't wait to see all the horses at work. There's more but that's enough spoilers for today...

2 pointsOH NO! Your front end is most likely fine, but I'm concerned about your brother, how bad did you hurt him?

2 pointsI was cruising the back allies of my small home town today and spotted a Wheel horse from a long ways away! I went around the corner and down the next ally and found this oldie buried under some snow! It looked like a Bolens at first with all the snow on it. But after closer inspection I see it is a WH. I talked to the owner and he said he just got it last week with the big Farmall tractor that is next to it. I asked if it was for sale and he said sure. I looked it over and he said it was a 654. It has a 654 drive belt guard on it but after I checked it out further, I could tell it was a 1961 Model #701, one of my favorites! It has the wrong hood and is missing the seat and spring and the double starter generator belt guard is missing too. No big deal since I have one on the shelf. All else looks good including the Kohler motor is loose and intact. He said for me to make him an offer so I said $75.00 and he said no, but he would take $150.00 for it. I said I would go that high on it. I got his phone number and said I would get it next week or next weekend. He said he had some more WH's in the barn, a Raider 12, a Lawn Ranger, a 654 and a very nice old 1958 WH! I said I would like to see the 1958 Horse but he said these weren't for sale. I asked if I bought the other one, if I could see the 1958 tractor and he said yes. So I will get back to him later to get the 701 and see the oldie in the barn. I was hoping it was older than 1958 and maybe I would try to buy it anyways! I will keep ya all posted on this deal!

2 pointsHere are a few from my neighborhood and around the house. The first two are of the neighborhood's pet doe when it was a fawn last year. It wandered up to me while I was working on a cart. It still is very tolerant of humans. Long story of it being separated from its mother and then adopted by a neighbor after being shunned by the rest of the herd. It had it's own fawn this year. The neighbor has a dog collar on it to prevent being culled. Another neighbor has a farmette with two horse and five goats. Its not uncommon to find the horses broken free. Oke', my dog, was wondering about those "big deer!" The other shots are just some of the local critters. It's interesting living where I am. Rarely a day goes by without taking some type of picture.

2 pointsHey Geno have you called Toro yet to ask what they want for the rest of the Wheel Hose stock parts and naming rights to produce more tractors?
-
2 pointsMy winter projects are coming along nicely. I wanted to get everything done last fall because it was such a tuff winter last year, and I did. So my winter projects are...sleep late in the mornings, go ice fishing when the temp is in the 20's, light the fire place and watch as much football & basketball as I can, eat a lot of comfort food. I can report that the time line is looking good for a successful winter this year.

2 pointsA standstill. To Da%& cold in the Garage. This was warmer times.

1 pointI moved this post here. Did not mean to hijack the thread it was in As many of you know I bring something special to the Big Show each year for the RedSquare members who post back to me. The first year it was Red Square coffee cups. Last year it was personalized RedSquare magnets. This year I am bringing RedSquare Wheel Horse Popcorn. I will have 12 ounce sample bags for all who are going to the show. We are a little less than 5 months so start replying so I can make a list of members. I Want to make sure I buy enough but dont want to buy more than I need. The bag in the following image is a 32 ounce. 12 ounces still makes a bunch of popcorn. RESERVE YOUR BAG NOW!!!!

1 pointHello,I am a new member here.I collect other brand tractors, but now have a 701.I enjoy this site. Thanks Mike from St.Cloud Fla.
-
1 pointI don't know if they were all the same but the 1978 86-42ST01 uses these Part # 920013 - 5/8" SAE flat washer Part # 932034 - 3/16" x 1" cotter pin Garry

1 pointAn inside look at the magic shed. First Cuba, now this!
-
1 pointI think you Connecticut guys need to stop sharing horses and let that horse find a good home where it can graze in the "Prairie State". That is a very nice horse Matt.
-
1 pointThe hub needs to pulled off. If I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing, you may have serious damage to the axle and/or hub. The keys are half-moon shaped and sit in a half-moon shaped slot that is about 3/16" shallower than the key, allowing it to stick up into a corresponding slot in the hub. Then the set screw is tightened onto the key holding the whole thing in place. The second set screw at 90 degrees to the main one is to help eliminate what has happened to you.
-
1 pointI agree. I have Ken's Electro ( we call it Kenny) and it is just awesome . I have a very steep driveway and it just climbs it pushing 10" of snow like it is on flat ground. I can't even imagine what life around here would be without it.
-
1 pointI just finished plowing my (+ 2 neighbors/friends) driveways with the newly rebuilt transmission. The c-101 is strong!!! Other improvements: Installed solid aluminum motor mounts. I took one of the designs - posted on this site by one of our UK brothers - to a machine shop. Rebuilt/installed brake system. Installed new tie rods. Dipped and rebuilt carb - spark plugs - oil - fuel lines - full lube. Installed new battery. Repaired tire chains - ordered the Terragrip rubber chains.
-
1 pointThat's 'bout what we got, five inches of the white junqué! Since we picked up the Work Horse late summer/fall haven't tried a plow job other than push a little gravel. The Work Horse didn't have any problem. Our first Briggs '83 Horse, we like Kohler! Somewhat pleased we added the Dial-A-Height too! The Onan 520-8 took a breather while son pushed the snow.
-
1 pointMy own opinion. After finally getting enough snow to use my Dxi with the cab installed, I'm glad that I do have the Smart Turn feature. Blowing snow for 1-1/2 hours, my feet were pretty numb and not as "sharp" around parked cars using the foot pedal. The tractor should be able to move in reverse, even in Low, with the steer tires cranked over. You may need to adjust the motion control.
-
1 pointNice Matt. Love the spare tire carrier mod and the sexy rims and tires..
-
1 pointI agree Ken. It is a SHAME to see what the current owner did that with that 603 you restored.
-
1 pointVery nice 603 Matt, and, first dibs on it. I miss mine so bad and regret letting it go, especially after it was butchered..
-
1 pointThat's my Struck mini dozer. One of my best purchases to date! I have the front blade for it. You can see it up against the wall behind it.
-
1 pointJackhammer Lifting and attachment arm rotates the Trunion and flag forward and back a bit so don't tie the flag tight in any position if leave the flag on. My heavy duty rubberband lets it move forward and back with no issue. I have done this for several years and come summer replace the rubberband when putting the deck on. Then no issue with flag left in place. This is a real benefit if you are someone that must switch back n forth from blower to plow as I did for 2 years, lay8ing on cold garage floor with dripping slush while trying to insert the pin into the trunion and getting the small cotter pin in.
-
1 pointThat's my Birthday so I will see what I can come up with for "Birthday sale" deal.
-
1 pointWell Geno, go for it. I did exactly the same thing you are planning. Back in the late 80's early 90's I was buying all the WH I could find and there is a lot of them out there. One day I looked around and had a 40x65 building full a 24x36 building full a 30x42 building full and a 24x48 building full. I came to a quick conclusion that I will NEVER get all these tractors running let alone restored. Had over 200. So in 2008 had a auction sold all but 10 that I hand picked to keep. Now I am back to 46. But I can work on them at my pace. I only buy certain models now not everything out there.

1 pointWhat else does a retired guy hafta do with his time but make movies! We Got slammed w 18" last night Chucked this morn and probably will later this Eve. Nothing like more seat time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQKNiU3fOD4&list=UU7wuEBq4kYyHz0ytg3WDv2g

1 pointI agree with all the advice given. Been painting cars, bikes, dump Trucks etc. For 40 yrs. Without Getting all technical primer is made To bond to a substrate. It also is Made to allow the topcoat to bond To it. If you were going to"flip" a Piece of equipment, you could de- Grease and shoot it. It would look Good, for about six months. If you A going to the trouble of stripping To bare metal you are cheating yourself in the long run. Primer for Sure. Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

1 pointOK so a trip to get the local hardware store.. Paul B Zimmerman's and here is what I found. Tillman's AG Specialty coatings. Its an enamel paint just for tractors. Looks like either IH red or MF red is a good match. Kind of leaning MF red #5467 1 and for the wheels IH off while. Does anyone have experience with this paint and primer?

1 pointI'd love to find one of those light-weight little loaders for doing mulch duty around the place. That is a nice find. You just don't see to many of the old Danco loaders. It does look similar to this WH400 loader. These are some Jacktown show pictures that I think Buzz posted several years ago.
