Sorry haven't been on much guys, we've been working on restoring Horses night and day trying to keep up with demand. Will try to get a few pics of them on here somewhere. It's a great job to have though! Thought I would put up a pic of the new help...

This particular tractor was purchased "just to get me through winter plowing" while I located a new engine for my 520H. I don't know who had it before WHfan74 but Scott cut me a deal and Tom hauled it my way on one of his trips through Indiana. It ran so nice and I found it a very capable machine the more I worked it. Most of you are collectors and I've had my fair share of them over the years but this one really surprised me. I put a 48" deck under it and it cut my lawn with 1/2 the fuel my 520H. Even if the lawn got away from me in the spring it still did a decent job in tall grass situations. I have bad shoulders so I converted the front end to the forward swept axle and gear reduction steering. I put the 8.5" 520H rear rims on it to match. Being a huge fan of the hydro I didn't like the ground speed so after some reading I purchased a 5.5" hydro engine pulley from Kelly. 2nd gear hi and 80% throttle works perfect and I saved additional fuel and got the job done 15 minutes sooner. My ***ONLY*** dislike it reverse is to fast and you really have to watch it. I just plowed some with it today and took a few pictures of it. The charging system works perfectly. This is now my favorite Wheelhorse I've owned since I've started.

Doc, I hear ya. Years ago, we did a focus group session for design of a user interface / touch panel for medical equipment. We assembled several "thought leaders" from major hospitals across the country, placed them together in a room, asked very specific questions about push button locations , icon look, coloration and wording on the screens. We even video taped the session so to avoid any issues with "no, that's not what I said." We gained group consensus on all the above items before proceeding. A working software model of the interface was created within 15 minutes after the users approved of all the items and the "perfect interface" was presented to the user group within a half hour after they approved it. NOT ONE OF THEM LIKED IT ! AT ALL!

That one is my fav also Zieg. The 14 Magnum is not to be under estimated. Mine will be 28 in April and has been in the family since new. I never had anything it wouldn't do and the fuel consumption is pretty beyond belief. That is one you should keep for sure! Here is mine, original paint too. We did upgrade the factory rear tires a few months ago -

I took several piles of parts from donor tractors and built this from scratch. It's not a 1045, but it is proof that if you can dream it, you can build it.

I have a 4-14 for snow duty also. This was a picture from last year when we actually had snow to plow. She is patiently waiting. This one is an all original survivor that is great all around condition.

This cultivator came with my 867. PO said he knew nothing about it. It doesn't look like it will mount to the rear sleeve hitch. Is it missing something? Does it fit under the tractor? Does it not go with my 867? Is it not Wheel Horse? What is it? Thanks for your help.

Mounts under tractor pivot off of mid quick hitch. Missing the lift link.

Chuck, this is great!!! I was in sales and I can't tell you how many of these solutions I sold thru the years. Just about every one of my accounts had to own one. The problems and upgraded features were always fixed in the next software release too!!!

It's not one of the common walk-behind blades. Having provision for 5-sector angling looks more late '60s or later. The single mounting hole makes it almost appear to have more of a frame behind it for a ride-on tractor. With out a trip mechanism though, it could be a walk-behind after all.

I really got a great deal on mine even though it needs some work. About 6 months ago my buddy was hurting for money and sold me a brand new in the box Tig welder for $600. I did an even swap, the welder for the D-250 with the 60" deck, Dozer blade, 3 point hitch, pretty new AG tires, and a tiller. It was well worth the 5 hour trip each way to Tennessee.

The prices have definetly gone up. When I first started buying these tractors I could!d get a real clean original RJ58 for like $200. Now around here there aren't many to be found and if you do, $200 will barely get you a rust bucket. Like anything else, priorities change. I don't have the time I did 5 years ago when the kids were younger. Also we used to have great meet & greets that don't really happen anymore. So I guess my enthusiam/drive isn't as great as it used to be. Moneys not really a problem because my only costs were generally hardware, parts and paint. I think I only had like $1200 total into this C-200 build. Were else could you buy a like new loader tractor for that price!

That is a Montgomery Wards unit and later than this 1953-55 unit. I recognize the 87-7461 type of catalog number but can't find it or the application. Garry

WHATEVER!!!!!! All I got to say is, WHO CALLED THE OSU A POTENTIAL NATIONAL CHAMP< early in the season!!!! I can't hear you!!!! I could have finished on the bottom with Duke and Jackhammer, I'd still be happy. .... I gave OSU the vote of being a candidate for the National Championship early in the season.... I can't recall if anyone else called out OSU as a potential National Champ... . I'll take that victory over all the wins and loses! If I lived in Vegas baby, I'd be a GOZILLIANAIRE! Im pretty sure I did...lol GO BUCKEYES

I've scaled back a bit. Lol. This is the only pic I have right now of some of them. I have three with factory brake kits. They're suprisingly very easy and comfortable to ride.

I'll ask this a third time and I'll keep it short and sweet so as not to distract. If you remove the F field wire from the SG, does the 20 volts drop to near zero volts ? It's OK to reply "I don't know which wire is the field wire".

Bad (high) readings are possible with aging meter batteries but the believable 12.6 volts measured at the battery suggests the meter battery is OK. Most digital meters have some sort of low battery warning on the display. You can measure the battery in your car to check if the meter is correct.

here's something interesting.... Brians gear cluster has all beveled gears. mine has beveled and straight.
  47. 1 point
Cst, this is the gear welded to my tranny. I believe it was done by the Ponds during original assembly. IMO, it looks like Brians may have been disassembled at some time to replace the bearing ??? then re-welded. again, only my opinion.
  48. 1 point
Brian, yes! the final drive gear is welded on. I've been working on one for a few years now, and only recently have focused on the tranny. I think???? this transmission might be in a little better shape than yours. so if you'd like, just for comparison, I can send a few photos. I've been following your posts, and as it turns out, I'm a bit ahead of you on the restore thus far (although it won't be long until you pass me) I've gone over the steering box, built new spindle assemblies, and at the present am having the engine re-bored, and getting things in order to finish it's rebuild. I'm curious to know, when you get the bull gear assemblies apart. if your axle shaft bearings are the same size as mine. these bearings are 5/8 x 1 1/8 i.d. x 2 1/4 o.d. and while it's apart, I feel they should be replaced. what I've found out is, Nice is the only company making that size presently. they can be bought at Fastenal, or Motion Ind. only problem is, they come in lots of 10!!! at $43-$47 a piece, that is a bit pricey. so what I'm considering doing is replacing the metal piece that retains the bearings with one that's 2 1/2 o.d. I've found these bearings for a lower price, and I didn't have to buy 10 of them. the only thing I need to look into, is if there's enough room for the new retainer at the top end of the bull gear housing. sorry for being so winded, but I'm thinking any insight may be appreciated at this point on your project. good luck with it, I'm enjoying reading your posts! Dan

Today I got the lights installed and the last thing to do was install the spec. plate for the engine. My old one was in sad shape so I bought a decal from Terry and had a new plate cut from aluminum. Turned out pretty good. Nice job, Terry! Some day I'll paint the letters on the front of the hood but for now, I'm done. One last shot, this one's for you, Bob.

Oldandred (Jerry) has a one armed loader on one of his 'horses that he likes. Of course he also has a yellow 'Horse with spots..... Maybe he can give you some insight on it.(The loader not the 'Horse) :USA:
