12 pointsWell my boy, Zach, has been asking for a plow for his tractor for some time now. He has been clearing snow with me ever since he was 10 months old. He isn't old enough to be turned loose on his own yet, but he will be ready. I need to pick up a few more new bolts and it will be ready. The blade was purchased from Gene Simpson for a good deal. It then was disassembled and taken over to our powder coater. Now the finishing touches are being done and then under the tree it goes for Christmas morning. Can't wait to see his reaction!

4 pointsSeems kinda kooky looking... like something the Grinch would use to steal Christmas presents.
-
3 pointsNo I didn't give my little boy his snow plow yet. Instead I treated myself to a Christmas present. . Though this one needs a little TLC, I thought it would be another good conversation piece for the collection. From my understanding these were promotional tools for the dealers if they wanted to purchase one. They did not originally come with an engine but many had an engine dropped in them so they could be sold. This one has an engine that needs some wiring help. Hoping to touch up the paint in a few places and just have fun with it. It is about time to reorganize the barn once again!!!
-
3 pointsGot in a little taxidermy work while watching the paint dry on the Commando 8 parts. Got my buck ready for the cape but that probably won't get mounted till Feb. Made a little "bunny" paper weight from Owens doe foot. I'll surprise him with this on his 12th birthday in Jan.

2 pointsRed Square: I am working on developing a replacement for the circuit boards in the 300, 400, 500 series tractors. To do that I need help from you guys in a couple ways. I am trying to figure out how many styles there were and what they looked like (that's where the pictures come in) I know what they DO from the schematics posted but I need to know physical layout for sizing and placement of LED's and connectors. For this I need help from anyone that has a dead or dismantled circuit board laying around. If you are willing to ship one off to me I will be giving you a discounted rate at buying an equivalent number of replacements. My timeline is approximately 6 months depending on how much help I get.

2 pointsYou may also want to consider contacting Glenn Petit for a possible colaboration on a formed silicone 'gasket' or 'collar' to seal out liquid intrusion at the point the PCB mates with the molex connector.
-
2 pointsI will send some measurements for the 418 and 416 (appear to be identical). I will also post how to modify non blinking oil low lights to make them blink on low oil detection. If you are able to get a snapshot of the wiring connector layout for a 300 series PCB, that would help to advance the cause.

2 pointsPeople who are good at solving problems (Dr's, Mechanics) will easily solve this, others who just get a bigger hammer or park their tractor behind the garage, can't: Can you meet this challenge? I've seen this with the letters out of order, but this is the first time I've seen it with numbers. Good example of a Brain Study: If you can read this OUT LOUD you have a strong mind. And better than that: Alzheimer's is a long long, way down the road before it ever gets anywhere near you. 7H15 M3554G3 53RV35 7O PR0V3 H0W 0UR M1ND5 C4N D0 4M4Z1NG 7H1NG5! 1MPR3551V3 7H1NG5! 1N 7H3 B3G1NN1NG 17 WA5 H4RD BU7 N0W, 0N 7H15 LIN3 Y0UR M1ND 1S R34D1NG 17 4U70M471C4LLY W17H 0U7 3V3N 7H1NK1NG 4B0U7 17, B3 PROUD! 0NLY C3R741N P30PL3 C4N R3AD 7H15. 2 pointsI'm definitely with you guys after watching that video. This tractor turned that slow since I got it, even when it would start. Not saying I didn't have other issues, which should now be fixed, but this thing definitely needs to turn faster. I'm really leaning towards the starter and not towards too much compression. Reason I say that is I would be confident it didn't have too much compression when I bought it and it turned that slow then. I have a new battery in it that has been load tested and I have cleaned all connections from the battery to the starter. I will try the jumper cables again just be sure then I guess this weekend I will pull the starter and attempt to disassemble and clean. Wish me luck and I will post back with results.

1 pointI'm always enthralled to look through the pictures that everybody posts as they work on, or restore, or modify their horses. Look at not just the horses and the ideas, but also the shop space it's being done in. I've worked outside, I've worked in borrowed space, Home made space, and now finally ... Since I moved in 2010 ... I have my own shop. Thought that I would share with you all, my space ... Now it's still under construction ... I have more drywall, more Lighting, and more wiring to do. I'm also planning to add to the shop this spring, going 15 feet out the side, to provide places to Store, to do the really nasty tear downs, as well as a media blasting Room and maybe a clean Room for painting small parts? Not sure yet. Anyway Onto Photos!

1 pointThis is really cool! Has anyone seen one? Cub Cadet C 100 that was modified by the Florida State Mosquito Commission back in the 1960s. I suspect that few people have ever seen a Cub Cadet with that kind of implement! I got the image from the Fall/Winter '06 edition of "Wing Beats" - the official publication of the Florida Mosquito Control Association. The device is described as an "aspirator" with no other information. I am guessing that it is designed to suck mosquitoes up from the grass and put them in a collection bin/bag for identification. From the Garden Tractor Forum, posted by 'C C Geno'

1 pointWhen I saw this, I knew if was for me. Take a look at the sign, although it isn't wheel horse, it certainly fits the bill. It will look good in a wheel horse display!

1 pointKennedy, I'm using a CVA Firebolt Ultramag that is bolt action style. Shoots good but I think its about time to pass it on to my son (even if he isn't big enouth to handle the weight). It's about 10 years old and I'm really ready to get a new break over - easy to clean and I won't have to have that stupid tool to get the primer in place! Ed, I love that "bunny" and the personalized picture with the case is awsome. I love stuff like that. A memory the two of you will always have! I made a bow holder years ago with some deer legs. I plan on helping my son build a new one with his first deer.

1 pointWhat type of inlines are you guys using? This year and last year Ohio added a two day, antlerless, muzzleloader in October. The regular muzzleloader season is in January. Too cold for me then. Our archery is September 27- Febuary 1. Our gun season is only one week long and always starts the Monday after Thanksgiving. Nice paper weight Ed, Im sure he will like it. Mark

1 pointlast summer i traded for a 520. i wanted a 520 for a dedicated snow blower tractor for my 2 stage blower and hopefully ad a cab to it down the road. i was told when i got it that it possibly had a bad trigger on it. my friend that i got it from took as a trade in and hadn't fooled with it. the po had taken it to another dealer and they told the po that it needed a trigger other things and wasn't worth fixing. i thought i was told the coil had been replaced but don't remember for sure. any way i brought it home and cleaned the carb and checked the trigger, it checked out ok so i proceeded to get it fired up and added my 2 stage blower. it ran okay but not great and started harder then i would have liked to have had. i changed the spark plugs out and that helped but didn't correct the hard start especially when cold. when cold you would have to crank and crank on it to get it started. i tried several different things to get it started like spraying carb cleaner in it and nothing helped, finally last sat i tried to start it and almost gave up. i needed to carry a heavy motor out of the back of the shed and the dang thing wouldn't start. i walked away and got another tractor and cart to help hall the motor to my truck and decided to try one more time and luckily it did start. it always would start after the first cold start and it had some stumble when throttling up around mid range rpms. i was so disgusted i was ready to swap motors on it. so i talked to my friend who i got it from and he suggested plug wires and check the coil. i replaced the wires last night and still no start. so i found a used coil that i had laying around and hooked it up and it fired right up. i just went out to the shed and tried it again and it fired right up. so i think i fixed it for now till something else goes lol . so i thought i would share my experience with everyone else and hopefully help somebody else out of a jam since this is my blower tractor i needed to be able to depend on it and i wasn't sure that i could till now. so now i feel a lot better eric j

1 pointI am probably going to anger some folks here but I just can't help myself. I never considered those 212-5 real Wheel Horse tractors. They always remind me of something made for the Box Stores to sell. Now the 312-8, is a real Wheel Horse and if your intention is to present a Wheel Horse Tractor then there is no question which one you should use.
-
1 pointThanks SOI! I may have to have the company get a tractor or two... For research of course...

1 pointI had the privilege of visiting the Arizona memorial during our honeymoon in 2006. There were a few old timers on hand for conversation. Its a beautiful memorial. If you're lucky enough to make the trip please do so as it is deteriorating rapidly. What took my breath away was the video you have to watch before heading out to the memorial. It's a well documented account of the attack. Unfortunately it's portrayed in a manner which describes how Japan had to attack. As though they didn't have a choice. I approached a couple of those old timers w a WTF look. They simply said look around, Hawaii is practically owned by Japan . It's sad how our government allows this nonsense to go on. A total disservice to all those whom fought for our country.

1 pointSparky, You asked for it. It's been in another thread to be Identified. Motor sure looks familiar!!! Amazed at what power the little honda five makes. Was towing a utility trailer out front and ended up riding a wheelie right up the side of my work van. Front and back wheels against the van hitch on the ground and motor still running by the time I got up to shut it off. Had to add two weights to the front to hold her down when towing. Weights were the most expensive venture on this tractor. Sometimes have to throw a 50lb bag of mix n fine on the hood too. Learned to leave the trailer jack wheel on the trailer as a wheelie bar. Just crank it up enough to get it off the ground.
