8 pointsI clipped a few pics from the American Pickers "Grudge Match" episode tonight. They had a couple Wheel Horse tractors at "Doug's" place in Iowa. Frank did finally by a 633 Wheel Horse for $400. Doug was initially asking $600 for it, but he did not budge from the $400 figure he told Frank he needed. The research assistance from American Pickers had asked me to release two photos of Wheel Horse tractors earlier this year. I assumed they were going to buy a Wheel Horse but was never told what was going to happen and tonight I now know they finally bought a Wheel Horse tractor. I like what they did and I was pleased to see that they mentioned we have Wheel Horse tractor meets! My payment for the release was the credit given at the end of the "Grudge Match" episode!

7 pointsLOL, I was glued to the TV alright. Unfortunatly my eyelids were slammed shut ! I fell asleep before the show started ! I thought I'd let you guys have a laugh on me today

5 pointsSome of my babies are gone... I will miss them dearly but they are all going to fantastic homes, some of them I will get to see when I'm out and about. I haven't put them on the board because I want to cover my local area in red first and enjoy actually seeing my babies still working, and also being the one who works on them if they need it. 3 of them left so far this week and prospects for 3 more this week. The little 68 Lawn Ranger was Sandra's tractor that she's replacing with the 64 Lawn Ranger. The 68 we sold still had the dealer sticker on it and still had nubs on the original rear tires that said Wheel horse on them, the fronts just had the nubs wore off but looked new and said Wheel Horse also. That tractor hadn't been used hardly at all since new.

5 pointsI have known people like that 85 year old seller. Won't make a reasonable deal, and will end up dying and leaving everything to be auctioned by his estate.

5 pointsJust took phone off charger, after reading Rob's post I've got to put it back on. Battery at 50%. Lol

4 pointsForum member COD (Steve) submitted an interesting electrical item for dissection. A "Deere style" rectifier regulator tagged "output is stuck at 12.3 volts". After removing the potting compound from the regulator body, unsoldering the leads from the SCR and removing the circuit board SCR is press fit into the outer housing The regulator circuit board - ready to give up it's secrets The B+ and one of the AC terminals are indeed physically - and therefore electrically - connected together. Some analysis and possible repair work coming next.

4 pointsThis thread is interesting, from the "Garden Tractor Talk" site, where they also saw the Pickers show, talking about it being 'scripted', and the referenced web site is an interesting read too: toomanytoys84 You guys know this show is all rigged and fake right? The "negotiating" is scripted. People go there, pick out the items they are going to "buy" and then tell the owner the "script" and if they want to sell it or not. #9 Talntedmrgreen Posted Today, 12:50 PM toomanytoys84, on 04 Dec 2014 - 12:19 PM, said: I dont know that it is or not, or to what degree it may be. Sounds like you do...can you share your definitive source? #12 #11 toomanytoys84 Posted Today, 01:07 PM Talntedmrgreen, on 04 Dec 2014 - 12:50 PM, said: Two friends of mine from the minibike world have been approached by "auction hunters" and "American pickers" I dont know that it is or not, or to what degree it may be. Sounds like you do...can you share your definitive source? If you go back and find the show of storage wars where Ton and the other guy buy a bonanza mini bike. Ton tells the other guy we need to go see my friend evil ed, he knows all about these bikes! It was all staged. They were told what to be doing when the guys "showed up". Ed was not interested in the bike, but they talked his buddy into "buying the bike" and they staged the negations. He said everything from beginning to end was basically scripted. There was no truth to show at all. I know Ed personally. Not just a guy behind a computer screen. He makes the journey from SoCal to Winber PA just about every year for the mini bike reunion. Another guy from the minibike world is a large collector or many things. He had ads on the internet advertising all kinds of stuff for sale. They(History channel, American Pickers) contacted him and asked if he would be interested in being featured on the show. The explained the process and what was involved. He turned it down. http://www.westcoast...rs-is-fake.html A quick google search produced that webpage. But like anything else, if it's on the internet, it doesn't make it true. I however believe it. Sorry to spoil anyones fun, but I loved this show and the others like it until I seen it. I've also been to the Pawnstars shop in Vegas. The pawn shop is there, but its the same deal as the others. Gtractor Posted Today, 01:13 PM There is a thread over on Smokstak about how the Pickers operate. Mike and Frank don't drive all over the country in the white van looking for stuff. There are people who go ahead of them to find, and purchase items. Then Mike and Frank are flown in along with camera crew. "Negotations" are done in front of the camera on items already purchased before their arrival. C'mon folks, this is TV. I occasionally watch and enjoy the show but every TV show has a script. I haven't been to their shop in Iowa but a local that has told me first hand that very few of the items from the show in their store are for sale. Mostly what was for sale was trinket style stuff. T-shirts, mugs, etc. Again, I haven't been there myself. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "And now you know "The Rest of the Story" . . . . 3 pointsJust what did you do in your former life before trying to corner the Midwest market on Wheel Horses? You must have been a Banker or stock broker to accumulate the money for all those tractors. Maybe you won the lottery.

3 pointswas entertaining the idea of buying a heavy hitch bracket for the suitcase weights, but one thing led to another and i ended up throwing together a bracket out of some scrap laying around. i did it much the same way Scott did above on his. piece of 2 " square about 7 inches long for the insert, piece of 3/8 x 2 inch flat for the weights to rest on and a couple odd brackets on the ends to stop the weights sliding off and also so i can put a piece of 1/2 round rod across the top of the weights to keep them in there position. they are probably not going to move very far as they are reasonably snug on the bracket, but if i feel the need to put a rod across the top the provision is there. i also got rid of the green paint. for the time being the john deere branding will stay there.......

2 pointsAmerican Pickers is scheduled to air on Wednesday night, December 3rd, on The History Channel at 9:00 EST. (also on at different times this week on your local station. The episode’s title is “Grudge Matchâ€. I can tell you now that I was contacted by the producers and asked to contribute some Wheel Horse photos for this episode. I have not seen it and not sure what will appear. The photos requested were of some of our 1964 Wheel Horse 1054's. I signed a release that provided the photos for their use. I do know that the producers have given me a "credit" that runs at the end of the show! *************************** SHOW TIMES: Grudge Match Premiere Date:December 03, 2014 - 09:00-10:03PM ET It's Frank vs. Mike when the guys take to the track for a grudge match drag race to see who has the fastest ride. 2 pointsSomething cool for your shop door if you guys wanna do it. How about a glass etched logo? Yeah I know, we changed the waiting area colors and haven't painted the door yet... I had a minute early this morning so I fired up the decal cutter. Not really, just a decal with etched glass vinyl, but it looks real.

2 pointsI had to do things different on my 310, has a 3 amp charging system with AC current coming right off the stator unlike the 15 amp systems that are coming off the battery , with the C-101 all that was needed was a splice on the output wire of the light switch, one switch runs both head and tail . The 310 was a little different, ( not chancing running the AC current to these low voltage lights ) found the hot wire on the ignition, installed a splice and I'm running through a second switch I fancied things up a little in the spirit of and installed a red LED toggle . I may order another for the restored C My tail lights will be in the mailbox tomorrow for this tractor

2 pointsSwapped the motor over from the tractor I got over the weekend. Here are some pics Old motor removed. Great running 10hp magnum Swapping some parts. Some slight mods as I wanted to put the motor mounted gas tank on my 10hp and some of the sheet metal was different. The bolt holes that are tapped in the bottom of the block on my 10hp (so you can bolt the motor down from the bottom) are not drilled on this motor. Some minor frame add ons All Done my new 316-8 I love the power now. It doesn,t even flinch when I engage the mower. The ten would bog and come right back. I can't wait to try the snow blower!!!!!

2 pointsAfter airing that I wonder how many people are looking behind their barns to see what that 'red thing' is. The collector base may increase a bit now so maybe Geno might have to step it up a notch now.

2 pointsThanks for that info when I redid my 312-H I had all the tins sandblasted but ive been thinking if I decide to redo my 312-A or maybe new tractor I don't have yet (glad my wife isn't on the forum ) I would try to use some stripper and do it myself? Them using powder would make sense due to the lack of priming but was powder coat around in the 80's? Never heard of Jasco? I just used rusto primer for the heavily rusted metal and then rusto farm and implement IH red.

2 pointsIt gives me chills seeing a wheel horse on the screen. Wish we saw it more often.

2 pointsWHkid I think its great you want to work on a 30+ year old garden tractor and want to make it right but also want to make to personal. I to was asking myself that exact question when I picked up a '64 654 with the wrong motor, seat, and no hood. The more I studied the pics of the other guys tractors of the same model there were many differences and not all were factory options. My earliest memory as a kid was playing on my dads round fender craftsman tractor which had a steel seat, so when I saw the 654 had round fenders I just had to find a steel seat. and with the wrong motor and hood that needs some holes welded in its not going to be OEM ... but it WILL be MINE!! And the joy of knowing I have rescued a great tractor from the junk is a great feeling. Not to mention the memorys I hope to be making for my son. So good luck and have fun with your New WH tractor!! Dont forget the pics!!

2 pointsI think it's important here to understand that football is a game. And while in the B1G there are proud traditions and fierce rivalries, none bigger than Ohio State vs. Michigan, it's also important to realize there is more to it than winning, and bragging, and slamming each others teams. There's sportsmanship and human compassion. I want to direct your attention to a moment in last Saturday's Ohio State and Michigan game when sportsmanship and human compassion was displayed at it's very best in a tragic moment in one young man's college career. Please take a moment to click the link and read the short story you will find there. http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/michigan-ohio-state-devin-gardner-jt-barrett-letter-sportsmanship-thanks-wolverines-buckeyes-120314?cmpid=tsmfb%3Afscom%3Afoxsports A picture truly is worth a thousand words..

2 pointsGot a little more done in between rounds of tile and painting. Anyways I helped a friend of mine with his pro street 62 Falcon and he had a 4 gallon fuel cell left over from his last project that he gave me. I got excited because that was something I was trying to figure out as to which way I was going. I widened the bottom out of the tranny tunnel and added about 6 inches down the middle. A little more cutting, grinding and welding and I have a fuel tank mount. Fits perfect and bolts to the top of the tranny just like before. Getting ready to order some AN fittings and get it plumbed for fuel. Getting closer. Had to add a picture of the falcon

2 pointsYou know, it occurs to me that every year each of the Big 10 Universities put forth their best team for that particular season. Everyone knows these things change over a period of years. It also occurs to me that no matter what there are some folks who can't accept defeat and have to put a derogatory "spin" on the rest of the conference in a sad effort to try and save face. I wonder how many of those people ever played football in the Big 10 or on the college level at all. I know I sure didn't and that's what keeps me humble as I sit relaxing on Saturday and watch "those who can, play". And Steve, you already sent me your official selection via pm.

1 pointWell I would like to thank everyone of my Red Square friends who donated to my cancer benefit that was set up by Derek(octfst)Rehberg and his wife Tammy, Mike(55rj35)Wall and his wife Deb, John(brrly1)Campbell who donated the tombstone weights and a few others that helped out on this site! They held the drawing tonight but I couldn't make it up to see it in person. My wife Tammy and I really appreciate all of the donations that you have made! It will definitely help us pay some bills as I have not been able to work for 6 months! This has been a very rough time for my family and very hard on myself personally. I have been through chemo therapy and radiation and I am currently done with that form of torture. I am 3 months past that stuff and just found out that I am currently in remission which means I am cancer free as of now! I do still have some bad side effects from the radiation but it pails in comparison to what I had before the treatment. So once again thanks to everyone who made a donation and some who even made more than one donation! Very cool bunch of guys on this site! Derek has another tombstone weight from John brrly1 that is being raffled off on Sunday so you still have a few more days to make a donation and get another chance at a weight or a flat screen tv, a gas card or a Red Lobster gift card! So get ahold of him or Mike for details. Thanks to God and Thanks to all of you! Now maybe I can get back to my favorite hobby! Keith Hammerhead Jones Ps. To the moderators, if you could leave this post here under Wheel Horse Tractors for a long while, so more members could read it, I would appreciate that. Thanks

1 pointI did. Semi-pro, over seas. Then came back to the states tried out for arena football. Dallas Texas. Missed the team by 1 cut. then turned my full attention to bodybuilding and the possibility of professional wrestling. All that aside, when the Big 10 is talked about today, it is still compared to yester-years. At 1 time Michigan and Ohio State were the only teams you hoped to get picked up by, and there is 1 other team worth mentioning. The Irish! THAT was a LONG time ago. Even before I was born. SEC was not even in the hunt. The Rose Bowl use to be the Grand Daddy of them all. The only 2 conferences to be eligible was the Big 10 and Pac 10. I am sure everyone in here knows all this. I don't see what others mention as trying to save face. As I have always said, it is about being consistent. I could care less what team wins, JUST WIN the darn games you are supposed to win. Then maybe the Big 10 could earn back some of the lost respect from yester-year when they were a power house. When 1 year it may have been Penn St., another year it might have been Michigan, the following year possibly Ohio State. Heck, if Iowa was able to put together a team that dominated, I'd pick them, but the conference has lost much of its strength, or I should say, recruiting abilities, because of just that. Inconsistent. End of story. If I were a young senior in high school once again, Big 10 would not be a school I would hope to be recruited by first. They would be a second choice or 3rd choice. That being said, I do see hope in the sky! Ohio State had a Heisman QB candidate. He got injured, then Ohio State produces another Heisman QB candidate.... < That has never been done before in the history of NCAA football. That in itself is truly amazing. That helps the Big 10 to gain it strength with young recruits. I am not talking about get 1 or 2 top high school recruits. I am talking about getting strength in the conference because it is a conference they want to go to. Then, along with solid coaching, will we start to see once again a conference that is able to WIN consistently. In the end Jim, it is a game. A game of life, if you have played the game. It does bring out the best and worst, in people. The worst that I saw, was the start of what NFL is today. In 1988 a rookie burst on the scene, from UNLV - Ickey Woods. The famous, or in my opinion, the selfish dance, in the end zone. As they say, the rest is history. NFL and all sports after that began to grow with a "what about me" ego. Ask Walter if he were still alive. Did you ever think of degrading other team members by doing a dance in their end zone, or taking a ball and running to the 50 yard line and placing in on the 50 then standing on the ball as if you were king? < But this gets into a much deeper topic. Regardless, college sports, is a way to fund college schools year after year.... Wait, that is a whole different topic also. Where am I going with this? Jim was only mentioning some of the comments in the thread. For me, my comments come from experience, love of a game that has lost its respect at the professional level, and just general good fun. As I mentioned football is about life. Life is a game, it is meant to be played. Played with honor and respect of other players, regardless of race, color, religion. In the end, we all have 1 goal, or should have, to win. And help as many along the way to see what the real meaning of winning means. Very few every achieve this goal. WOW, what a rant... Sorry. Just my 2 cents. Rob
