5 pointsIf I knew that Wheel Horses would have helped me with dating, I should have started collecting them in High School, or even in the 6th grade ( is that what Scott is doing with his WH club? ).

3 pointsWow! If teams from Illinois had that attitude about doughnuts, they could beat teams from Minnesota!

3 pointsI agree Bob...what these guys are saying about doughnuts is just not right... it is not the doughnut's fault that Iowa sucks...It is not the doughnut's fault that Northwestern can't win when you think it should, or that they win when you think they should loose...it is not the doughnut's fault that Indiana lost both of their 1/4 backs...it is not the doughnut's fault that Purdue has won a couple of games...it's not the doughnut's fault that Minnesota beat Iowa (OH OH...that is this week). ...it is not the doughnut's fault that Penn St can't win in Happy Valley...............and you watch...it is not the doughnut's fault that Maryland and Rutgers have a chance to upset the apple cart. Doughnuts are a way of life, and we should not have relegated them to the basement...meaning you get the doughnut if you lose...rather...you should get the doughnut if you win!! So here I am on my soap box, saying that the doughnuts in this world have been treated unfairly...kind of like the Big 10 this year. Put our best team in the Top Four and squeeze the jelly out of them, we can do this...this is America, this is the NCAA, THIS IS THE BIG TEN. :happy-jumpeveryone:

3 pointsThis is as close as I came to moving any snow last year, or just about any previous year down this way. No snow stuck to the driveway or walkway. No accessories required IE: Socks, boots, cab, chains, weights, gloves or any of that "Cold Weather Gear"! This blade has moved a lot of dirt and gravel over the past 47 years, it might balk at the cold wet stuff. This could very well be it's first contact with snow.

3 pointsGreat news Mike! After the brownie incident, my dog Spiffy got into baking.. and came up with a special menu item for this week.. that's right.. GRANOLA DONUTS!!

2 pointsI need a little help here, I am helping a friend clean out his barn that burned down and found this old belt guard. he said he had an old wheel horse years ago and think's this I from it, I think It is a guard for a suburban. any thoughts? I know these are worth something and would love to find someone that needs it rather than put it in the scrap yard

2 pointsGeno's meet + greet coming to a town near me. Saturday Dec 6 is the day beginning at 9AM! A big one is in the future for next Spring but I thought about what several of you have said on the board, in pm's and on the phone and it makes good sense to try to do something soon to just hang out if nothing else. Big thing of course is the unpredictability of the weather this time of year. I have 3 dates in mind and would like to know how many can come and what date is best for you. If weather totally stinks on the date we pick and you guys want to postpone it a week then that can be done also, I am flexible. If it's not really bad like a snowstorm we can all hang out at the shop, if it's really warm and no rain there is 300 acres to play on right across the street. I assume bringing tractors or whatever will depend largely on the weather, let me know if I'm wrong there. This will be a learning experience for me and will make the big Spring one better. Please let me know a date from the ones below, and if you plan on bringing anything. Blue will be here with the big BBQ outfit serving up the food and Sandra said she may whip up some things as well. Also let me know what type of sides salads you like. Dates - Nov 22 (Sat) REMOVED Nov 29 (Sat. after t-day) REMOVED *** Dec 6 (Sat.) Any other input if I forgot something is appreciated. Saturday Dec 6 is the day beginning at 9AM!

2 pointsLike the title says, I'm new around here. I'm in western WI and have been looking for a good old garden tractor for a while now to get places in my woods that I can't get to with the full grown farm tractors. I found this old guy on C/L, made a deal on it and brought it home tonight. (This is where I MIGHT get a picture loaded, first time using the software this forum uses, might take a couple tries, bear with me) It had been sitting for a while, the prior owner couldn't get spark. I was prepared to buy it non-running, but I had some time before work, and he'd been working on it already for a while. I figured out that the ammeter was shot and no power was getting past it. Once we bypassed it and used a little air to prime the fuel system, it took off and purred. Helping get it running might have cost me a few dollars in cash (it was a good price, regardless), but it gave me peace of mind that the motor didn't need a ton of work, and that the transmission was working right. Anyhow, it needs some minor stuff I'll get around to as I get time (never enough of that), and I'm sure I'll have questions. It probably won't ever be a show queen, but it's gonna make my life easier cutting firewood, and maybe some other jobs as I get some attachments. It's a bare tractor at the moment. I've got a set of tire chains to cut down that should fit it when I'm done, and extra weight is easy to find at work (I work in a metal fab shop). That should be all it needs for woods duty - might need a little bigger trailer though! It might go to a garden tractor pull or two next summer, never know. Feel free to ask if you got any questions, other than "wanna sell it", 'cause that answer is not just no, but H E double hockey sticks no! If any of you recognize the handle from other forums, say Hi. I use the same handle everywhere I go. Steve Star Prairie, WI (just a little ways outside of the Twin Cities / Minneapolis-St Paul, MN)

2 pointsShag? next thing you know you'll get an old Dodge van and deck it out. Black shag with orange stripes!

2 pointsVery few of us have the need nor the money to buy expensive testing equipment. I have pierced a lot of wires in my 78 years. It is certainly not the best thing to do and I would never say it was but for the back yard mechanic with limited need for high priced testing tools it will work. I put a piece of rubber tape around it. I think the next time I have to do it I will use a dab of crazy glue along with the tape..
-
2 pointsNo seriously, if you think its an older model and I am just guessing here but it would be a 1988 or 1989. They lack the forward swept axle and gear reduction steering which could drop the price some. The 1990 had forward swept axle but still no gear reduction steering. 1991 on up was the 520h beast that has the full bells and whistles. Price??? Pictures?? what size/type deck? What kind of snowblower. Single stage tall chute, single stage short chute, two stage?? Once that information is had then i think we can give you a better idea. Good Luck

2 pointsWe all have them! I once couldn't figure out why my tractor didn't start.. Thought about it for what felt like forever. Yeah, I drained the gas a couple nights before.

2 pointsAll you guys are very fortunate to have a wife who also has a keen interest in this hobby. My wife has no clue how many I have as she never takes a peek in both of my sheds. She has no interest in tractors but does allow me to have my time to enjoy tinkering with my hobby. For the record, I have now adopted 9 Wheel Horses in the past 3-1/2 years since I got hooked. When I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was interested in another one on c-list, she was ok with that as long as I don't put it in the garage. So, I take that to mean either it's time to start a second tier level in my larger shed or we're getting new living room furniture.

2 pointsThis may be easier than I thought. I had time to play with the K Series on this tractor! The PM said it wouldn't start. He didn't say how, why or what the failure mode was. It just wouldn't start. Well it sat for a year in the elements and I don't think he garaged it all the time he owned it so after cleaning a mouse nest out of the top of the flywheel, I had to take every connector apart and clean them. The key switch was the worse. (Also found that the tiny wires to the Low Oil Light were corroded off making that light non-repairable). The solenoid was also rusted so no power was going through it. The ground off the battery was also not making good contact. An hour into it, I had juice to the starter and the voltage gauge. Pulled what was left of a badly fouled spark plug and replaced with a new one and tested for spark which I had. Motor oil actually looked good and was at the full mark! Popped the plug in and gave it a shot of ether and it fired. Next was to see what the fuel lines were like. I barely touched an in-line fuel filter at the fuel pump inlet and the fuel filter fell apart along with real dark gasoline in the lines. I siphoned the fuel that was left in the tank and it was totally black. Not gummy or foul smelling. Just black. So I know I need to flush the tank and replace the fuel line but I needed to know if the engine would run! I put a small 4 inch piece of fuel line on the fuel pump inlet and filled it with gas and leaving it higher than the inlet and then gave it another shot of ether and it fired right up and ran nice as could be. No knocks or weird sounds other than the drive belt banging around under the belt guard. (Probably a rusted idler). A little smoke when I cranked up the RPM's all the way but it was only during the transition. Not bad for as long as it sat! I'm happy. I already know I'll have a Bi*#@ of a time tearing everything apart. I had to use my easy-outs on three of the four bolts holding the tunnel cover on to get to the key switch and clutch switch. All in all, not too bad for fifty bucks!

2 pointsThanks for all the info. I will probably just get it running and show it as is behind my suburban 400 that Stevasaurus and others helped me to get back into usable condition. I am always amazed at all the helpful members on this site and the amount of knowledge you all are willing to share.

2 pointsInstalled mine today while we had one last warm day. I like the look, just hope they hold up. Time will tell! Only paid about $2.50 for the vinyl runner from Lowes and around $5 for the adhesive. I still have enough to make another pair!

2 pointsUpdate, the new Kohler OEM Fuel Pump gasket fixed the engine oil leak and I have gotten the GT 14 to a point where she is a going to stay until spring, running well and will be easy to get her ready for mowing next spring... pics attached. Thanks to all my fellow Wheelers for all the help provided!

1 pointAll of mine have a letter that corresponds with the month (A=January etc.) then comes the year. I think, but I could be mistaken. You might just have an RJ59 on your hands.

1 pointNo hot dog for you! I need to see the leg getting to the other side running board. Since I am as flexible as a brick I know the struggle to get the leg to the other side. Bonus points for a waist 38" ++!!!
-
1 pointRob, you gotta treat yourself to one of those little canned hot dogs, then even you would appreciate an all meat frank. That would be a Vienna Sausage North of the Mason Dixon, and a Whyeena Sausage South of the Mason Dixon.

1 pointAwww....now I'm gonna tear up a bit.....lol....please let Sandra know I like her too.....and she is a great friend of mine also....I'll look into that meet Geno....maybe I need a road trip.....

1 pointThanks for the welcome, everyone! From the 71-08K801 serial number, it looks to be a 77 model, correct? I got the IPL and wiring diagram downloaded last night, before my wireless internet went haywire. It seems to be back up now, I'll go back for whatever I missed. Great resource here! Thanks to a friend, I got it out of the truck without a hernia - I don't have ramps and I didn't think to use the loader tractor to lift it out (I heard something somewhere once about working smarter, not harder, but I don't know what that means...) After testing out the granny low transmission - I suspect my first attachment (once "fun funds" recover) will be a tiller. I've got a lot of rough spots I'm trying to tame into a decent lawn, and that'd be pretty handy. I could also quit hooking the 3 bottom plow up for 3 passes every spring for the garden. I hooked on the little firewood trailer and snapped some more pics.

1 pointMy latest WH is a 1998 520xi (purchased Feb 2014) with 400+ hours. I love it! - And Welcome to the forum!
-
1 pointMy wife doesn't really have any interest in my Horses although she appreciates what they can do. When I tell her I'm going to pick up another one, she's headed for the truck. She LOVES a road trip! Does that make her an enabler?

1 pointYou will find this forum very friendly, AND very helpful as there is a ton of knowledge within! You will really like your B-80. I have one with weighted/chained tires and I push snow with it as well as plow the garden. It is a real......well, work horse!! I have 9 Wheel Horse's and they are all workers...no show queens in my stable (for now).

1 pointGood luck on your restoration, I am sure it will be fun! I had been looking for a round hood nut roaster for 10 years (obviously not very religiously) and I bought 4 (so far) this year. I am a sophomore in high school and know how you feel. You have an earlier 1958 model with what appears to be an incorrect seat. Look and see if there is a tag on the transmission to the right of the gear stick. If there is, posts its info on here. That will help with dating and with the parts search.

1 pointI posted earlier with my 314-8 that I will be using. I just picked up a Cab off CL thanks to Doc724 who gave me the heads up on it! So I thought I'd post a few new pictures.

1 pointIn the spirit of Halloween I thought I'd share the the facelift of my 1979 C-series something. She started life in 1979 as a C-111 with an 11hp B&S engine. Notice the cutout on the hood vertical for the Briggs air cleaner along with another cut out lower for a Kohler muffler. Now to clean everything up. First cut the vertical support in straight a line eliminating the previous cutouts drag out the hammer and dollies, straighten and re-paint. Next up I gave Terry a call and ordered the decals. Since it's now powered by a 10hp Kohler and a 1979 chassis I chose the C-101 decal set and they look great. Happy Halloween everybody!!
