4 pointsPicked up this bad boy yesterday with a few attachments, Blade, chains, power bagger and dump wagon. purchased it off the original owner who used it at his week end cabin since new. The cabin sold so he didn't need the tractor anymore and I stumbled into it. The unit had just over 300 hours on the meter. Nicest one I have seen yet. The elderly gentleman had a service record, he included, of every replacement part, oil change etc. he had done to the tractor since new. The tractor came with all the original manuals for it and the implements. Leaf duty will be a breeze this year!

3 pointsCaught this little, tri powered, custom Suburban 400 cruising around the show field today at the Kent show. Nice young man by the name of Ethan, said it was originally his brothers long term restoration project that languished a few years before he got it. Ethan wasted no time shoe horning three Briggs under the hood, which starts on one engine, then engage the clutch to bring the other two on line. Little guy sounds like a mini top fuel funny car sitting there at idle. I asked him if he's done any mowing with it...he replied, yeah, some...really fast mowing. I told him about us here on RedSquare...so hopefully he'll be joing us here soon...also mentioned, he's built a rotary engined Raider that eats gobs of gas.

3 pointsTook way longer than I thought. But with household chores kids and all the other responsibilities life puts on you it wasn't bad. Looks good. Drives good. The boys are excited to have been part of the refresh. Family style. Hope you enjoyed reading about it as much as we did doing it. Now...ummmmm. wonder what one will be next. Shhhhhhhh. Quiet. If the mrs gets wind of this. LOOK OUT! LOL

3 pointsSomething here should work. Can't wait to see what that little Sears iron 2 wheeler will do. The new 520 w/ heated cab will be my go to machine on cold days. The Yammy 4wheeler is for clean up on warm days. The C-125 is the back up blower. Of course the two long handles always work.

3 pointsUse the search feature here and you will find information on this topic. Short version is the HC model offered in 88 and 89 and had the swept forward front end. HC was the hydro commercial model and less gauges etc. Tranny is faster too. Here is a pic of mine with a custom made 3 point hitch

3 pointsIt's funny because when AMC and Munn owned Wheelhorse, nobody called them AMC/Wheelhorse or Munn/Wheelhorse. Here is how I see it...........If it has the Wheelhorse brand on the tractor, it's a Wheelhorse, period. If it's a continuation of a WH model even if it doesn't say Wheelhorse on it, it's still a Wheelhorse. None of my tractors built during the Toro age are referred as Toro's. They aren't. They are true Wheelhorses or Toro/Wheelhorse if you wish. . To Cocky-Rocky.............If it wasn't for Toro and their marketing and management at the time, we wouldn't have many tractors to use or collect. They could have shut the line down and cranked out cheap imitations of both the garden tractor and lawn tractor lines calling them anything they wanted! But they didn't! They manufactured what were in essence, true over-built, over-engineered, heavy Wheelhorse tractors. The garden tractor line accepted the same WH implements as far back as the late 1960's for 16 more years ending in 2001 in one form or another and all this during a shift in society for cheaper, throw away when they wear out equipment. They even created what many consider bigger, better versions of the WH designs with the Xi Garden Tractors until 2005. They even kept the parts for the older tractors and those they continued to manufacture available for a long time. Just imagine if if MTD had bought them out. I owned a 1975 HD Sportster that I traded even up for my 1980's C-175 with a deck and a plow. As you said, AMF kept HD afloat but destroyed their reputation for quality. Toro kept WH going and did it without much sacrifice on quality at all. My 310-8, 416-8 and 520-H are Wheelhorses. Your 267H was designed by Toro but influenced by Wheelhorse. Look at that tractor and how heavy it is built verses what you would buy now for a similar lawn tractor. You have every right to call it a Wheelhorse. Because it is.

2 pointsI've been using my spike tooth harrow a lot here lately it works well and gives me lots of seat time I know I should clean it up and paint it considering they are kinda hard to find but I like using the stuff I have!!

2 pointsI used this last winter made from a horse mat from TSC because I plow my neighbors driveways as well as mine, and two had serious $$ repaving done last year. It worked well and was cheap. But that plow was sold and replaced with a genuine Toro Wheel Horse plow for this year. Now I have done work on my driveway so I will need to duplicate it plus make skid strips from a cutting board for my snowthrowers. And in action. It still clears all but ice.

2 pointsI have a 416H Onan and love it. Facing the flywheel side, the regulator is located on top of the engine shroud on the right hand side (right of the air cleaner). Its a small, rectangular (about 1" x 2") part that has 3 electrical terminals coming out of it. It looks similar to a Kohler command voltage regulator. The two outside terminals are your AC in, and the center terminal is your DC out. Check the DC terminal with your meter (DC terminal to negative on battery) and see what it shows. If its putting out more than say around 14.9 at full throttle, I would think your regulator is bad and is over charging. If you have any concern that the regulator isn't grounding properly, then add a small ground wire from the regulator mount bolt to one of the bolts that hold the cover (metal heat shield) over the engine head on that side. I do not know the exact Onan specs for this application, but my 416 has always made around low 12's at idle and high 14's at full throttle. Hope this helps and Good luck!

2 pointsYou do not have to open the transmission to change any of the seals. You need to measure the axles...you can do that with a tape measure on the outside of the hub where the axle is flush. 1" axles take Wheel Horse part # 100863...or SKF #9815 at your favorite NAPA dealer. 1 1/8" axles take WH # 100443 or SKF #11050. You can pick the 1/8" thick old seal out with an awl...do a search...plenty of threads that tell ways to do this. Hope that helps.

2 pointsWe are just barely one week away! Thank you for taking the time and making the sacrifice to be with us for the day. We are excited to see everyone again! Thank you to everyone who has communicated to me your willingness to help with the raffle prizes. We could still use some help. If you feel led to contribute please let me know. Plowing may be a no go. The beans are still on the field and am hoping we will be able to turn over some soil. Bring some fuel for your Horses. I am planning on having a tractor cruise. These beauties were meant to move! I will be placing a donation box out to help cover many of the expenses that are incurred during the day in order to put a show of this magnitude together. Any help is greatly appreciated. Food will be available for purchase again from the Miller family. The pies are amazing! A few folks will be setting up Friday afternoon and evening. Feel free to stop by any time after noon on the 3rd. Hoping to have a bonfire Friday night if the weather cooperates. We will have a swap meet area again. Work out and post those deals this week. I will continue to update as we are getting closer.

1 pointLooks great Glen! Love the points cover. Is that just wire brushed? Watch that fuel filter. I've had that style get air locked before stopping fuel flow.
-
1 pointMy driveway is asphalt and the standard metal cutting edge leaves no marks/damage at all. My plows are hanging off the lift mechanism with chain-links and not a solid lift link so only the weight of the plow is on the driveway, no extra force. I don't run chains because they will mark up a driveway. Mike..........

1 pointWhen I was a kid in Chicago, I loved fall with the aroma of burning leaves. But you can't do that anymore. So my first fall in MD I cleared away the leaves by hand. Ugh! But the next spring found this attachment in the garage. But now this is in the garage as well and should be even less work. Know what it is?

1 pointThe Onan is a good motor but it never should have made it out of it's intended environment and put into a Garden Tractor, other brands of tractors have had the same failure. Any air cooled engine is susceptible to proper cooling. The Onan is just extremely sensitive. I don't know how many times I have seen people mowing with a 520 or the likes with a Onan and see the grass screen totally plugged up. Most people who bought Wheel Horse's with Onan's in them are not tractor Guru's and all they have on their minds is getting the yard cut. If they do clean the machine off I am sure it was not on their mind that grass might be clogging up the fins or other areas. Like I said the Onan is a good motor and strong, it just should have never made it into a garden tractor application. It should have stayed where it belongs in a nice and clean RV environment. It's really ashame that Toro chose to ignore this problem. It does not take a rocket scientist to see a Onan will suck up enough grass in the first five minutes of mowing to cover the grass screen compared to other motors. They all get some grass sucked up on there but the Onan is one of the worst of the lot. By putting in even more air flow restrictions along with grass build up you have the makings of what we are all finding out, premature failure. It's a shame that something was not done engineering wise to help overcome this. It's a good motor just out of its environment as far as I can see. Now if Geno can fix this Onan, I am sure he will be very alert to what causes this and will take appropriate measures to keep it from happening again and get a long life out of it.
